Hey, darlings! Just wanted to give a little information before I begin the chapter; I'm on a massive theater and old movie kick. Basically, you'll see a ton of lyrics from older movies (ex. Hit the Deck, Bikini Beach, Beach Blanket Bingo) and musicals of all genres. The lyrics in this one are bolded because of having so much going on between the lyrics. I needed to bold them so I could tell the difference.
As always, enjoy! Please leave a comment if you liked it! I love reading comments!
Juliet took her finished letter and placed it neatly into her bag, taking a long sip of her milkshake as she relaxed further into the padded cushion the booth offered. A curious Tanner approached, giving a small smile to the blonde girl before sitting down across from her. With a small chuckle, he began chatting with her, "Hiya."
"Hi," Juliet responded. Now that she had no clue what everyone thought of her, she was unsure of how to present herself. "You're Tanner, right?"
"Well, that's what everyone calls me, but I don't think we've introduced ourselves to each other." With that being said, Tanner held his hand over the table and shone his pearly teeth at the girl. "My name is Trenten Louis Jackson, but my friends call me Tanner. It's a lot easier to say."
Juliet reached across the table and took Tanner's hand, shaking it as she brought up her name. "I'm Juliet. Juliet Gabriella Harmon. It's nice to properly meet you, Tanner."
With the simple formalities now over with, Tanner settled into his seat, folding his hands on the table and leaning forward so he could chat with Juliet. "So, how's it hangin'?"
Juliet quirked an eyebrow, glancing above her head curiously before looking back at Tanner. "How's what hangin'?"
Tanner giggled, snorting a little. "It means 'how are you', silly!"
"Oh," Juliet said softly, "I'm alright. Better now that Xander and I have broken up."
Everything seemed to jump off the rails. People stopped and sputtered, some whirled around into other people, knocking them to the floor, and, without any warning, a herd of surfers and Rodents crowded the small booth.
A perfectly timed, theater worthy holler of "What?!" was screeched as the band stopped playing abruptly.
With widened doe eyes and a sharp breath, Juliet stared back at the crowd. She quickly let out the breath she had taken, scanning over the shocked faces before meeting Tanner's eyes again. "I thought Mick told everyone that Xander and I had been a thing."
Tanner shook his head, glancing between her and the group of his friends that had appeared. "Guess not. Wanna talk about it?
Juliet closed her eyes for a second before opening them and sighing. "Xander and I have been going out since I was 14 and he was just about to turn 16. We met in Texas and, at the time, everything was perfect. He was so sweet and loving and we had great times together. But, when we came here, his hometown, it was like a switch flipped. He started racing and getting colder to people. We hardly went on dates and, the only time he spent with me, was when it had to do with my father or his silly group meetings."
"So yous were one of his little dolls 'r somethin'?" Skids piped up from next to Struts.
"No," the blonde replied with a shake of her head. Juliet stared at the wall on the other side of her. "After a while it just felt like I was there. Maybe he was keeping me around for old times' sake, I don't know. But, when he found out Mick and Butchy were a thing, he found a use for me. He used me to try breaking the two of them apart so he could win the race against Butchy."
A loud, angry screech cut through Juliet's story as Seacat held Cheech back from going on a rampage. Her arms waved all over the place as she kicked the air. Seacat picked her up around the middle and walked backward a little ways from the group to prevent injuries. He pulled CheeChee with him to a fairly empty area near another table and sat down on the floor, forcing her to sit with him as she kept ranting something along the lines of "Why I oughta!" Who exactly she was more mad at, Juliet or Xander, nobody knew.
"I never did think it was a good idea," Juliet claimed, eyeing Cheech as the smaller girl started to calm down a bit. "Xander said that if I loved him, I'd help him. So, I did. I didn't do a good job of breaking them up, but I don't think I really wanted to anyway."
Instead of the angry, hurt faces she had expected when she looked over at the group, Juliet saw some understanding and mild confusion. It wasn't until Tanner spoke up that she realized why. "What changed your mind and made you leave him?"
Juliet smiled, taking a small sip of her drink before she continued her story. "When Mick lost her memory, she treated me like a friend, something I haven't really had since I left Texas with Xander. I know what I did to them and all of you was wrong, but Mick and Butchy told me they forgive me for what I've done. I still don't see how," she mumbled to herself. "I don't expect you to forgive me, but I'm not asking you to in the first place. I did some messed up shit and I know that. I'd like it if we could try all of this over again and maybe be friends, but, as I said, I don't really expect that."
With that, most of the group dispersed, going back to their usual places and trying to let the atmosphere return to normal. The group that remained, however, stood wherever they had already been, watching Tanner and Juliet with interest. Cheech and Seacat remained on the ground, Rascal stood beside Tanner with Caitlynn, the only blonde biker, and Reef. Reef and his friend, Lake, gave Juliet a smile and shook her hand politely before wandering off to find KiKi's sister, Kali.
Struts gave Juliet a pat on the shoulder. "I'll try. No promises, but I'll try to be friendly."
Juliet met the brunette's eyes and smiled. "Thank you."
Struts nodded, letting Skids put his arm on her shoulder and lead her to where they'd been sitting. Miles approached from his spot near the back of the group and squatted down next to Juliet, leaning his arms on the tabletop. "I'm Butchy's second. He needs me, I'm there. I'm boss when he's gone. Good t' meet'cha."
He shook the girl's hand before leaning to her ear and whispering to her so no one else could hear. "My baby sister might've forgiven you, but let me just say that if you ever try that shit again, there won't be a time for forgiveness."
"I hear you," Juliet muttered, having heard things like that being said in the Sparx hangout before and understanding exactly what the tall brunette meant. Miles nodded in approval before splitting from the group, making his way out the front door and down the beach.
The only ones left were Tanner, Seacat, CheeChee, Rascal and Caitlynn. Caitlynn took Rascal by the hand, tired of the silence, and led him off to Big Momma so they could get something to eat. Seacat let go of Cheech, sensing that she was calmed down enough to be left alone. The biker girl slowly stood, making her way back to where Juliet was, Seacat following close behind.
"Look," CheeChee started, "I'm not as close to Mick and Butchy or Lela or Miles, but they're my family too. I's don't like it when peoples mess with my family." Seacat rested a hand on Cheech's shoulder and the shorter girl took a calming breath. "But, I'll try. For Mick's sake."
Juliet nodded gratefully and watched the pair head for the front porch. Tanner quickly picked up the conversation where they had previously been, Ignoring the fact that there had ever been an awkward silence to begin with. He and Juliet chatted for a while, getting to know each other a bit better and discussing what life was like for each at the moment.
As the pair discussed school and prospects for the future, Lela burst through the front doors. "Struts!" she yelled into the room. She was about to holler again as she looked for her friend until she saw the girl talking with her brother. Lela made her way over to the brunettes and pulled Struts from her seat. "Lugnut's here for your date!"
Struts shook her head and grabbed her things, making her way to the front door before looking over her shoulder and telling her brother not to wait up for her.
Skids raised his arm in the direction Struts had left in, a look of confused disbelief on his face. "Where th' 'ell is she goin'?!"
Lela giggled at Skids as she sat with Tanner and Juliet. "She's going on her date with Lugnut tonight, silly." She turned to Tanner excitedly, exclaiming, "He's taking her to Napoli's, isn't that romantic, Tanner?"
"Yeah," he agreed. "My parents went there a couple weeks ago, they loved it."
"Napoli's?" Seacat questioned. "Isn't that over in St. Petersburg?"
Tanner nodded with a smile. "Yep! My parents had a great night out. They said it wasn't nearly as expensive as they thought, but it was still very fancy."
Seacat seemed to think for a moment before turning to CheeChee. "Maybe we should go."
"Who?" Cheech asked, "You and me?"
Seacat shrugged. "Why not? Might be fun"
"I don't know." CheeChee claimed, pretending to check her nails. After a moment, she caught a slightly deflated look on his face and let out a huff. "Alright, fine. I guess I won't mind puttin' up with you for a nice dinner."
Rascal wolf whistled from the table behind them, earning a smack from Seacat. Caitlynn nudged Rascal's arm and gave him a dark look "Keep that up, 'n you'll be single."
The group laughed and, soon, the chatter begun again.
'Juliet this. Juliet that. Ugh!' Hornet thought to herself as she wandered through the, now empty, hangout. 'Will they ever stop talking about that stuck up bitch?!'
She had stayed until everyone else had left. Xander hadn't even showed up that day, keeping himself practically locked up in his house. The other girls had pretty much agreed to leave; most said they would leave regardless, yet a couple said they would leave if their boyfriends did too. Not a lot of the guys had much to say other than the fact that they'd miss Juliet.
Their constant chatter of Juliet's absence was tipping Hornet closer to the edge of her sanity.
Hornet had been around Xander for far longer than anyone else had in The Sparx. She had been a part of Xander's crew since she was twelve and her brother was sixteen and one of Xander's closest friends. Then, two years later, Juliet wandered in and ruined Hornet's plan to be with Xander. Xander was hers! Not Juliet's. Hornet had loved him ever since her brother had brought him home to hang out. The boys were close due to being the same age, yet Hornet always lurked around. She became one of Xander's toughest women.
When Hornet turned 13, she was initiated and accepted into The Sparx, receiving her nickname as Hornet and all but forgetting her real name, Hollie Anne. She and her brother followed Xander around until her brother died in a racing crash in Texas. As was customary with the group's rules, they stayed in Texas for a month, giving James the proper funeral he deserved. Somewhere in that month, Xander met Juliet at a diner where she worked as a waitress in her free time.
Juliet was a nobody. Until Xander decided she needed to become a somebody.
Hornet stopped, her eyes falling on a picture of the group of Sparx they had started with. Her brother, James, was relaxed against the hood of the car he had later died in, a bright smile on his face as he rested one bent arm on Xander's shoulder. Xander had his familiar, lopsided grin on his face and his free arm over Hornet's leather covered shoulders. The others, Danny, Tucker, Cole and Calvin, had been standing either in or next to the car. Out of the seven, Hornet was the only girl.
The picture next to it showed the team now. The group had gone from seven to 23, nine which were girls. Well, eight, now that Juliet was gone. Still, Juliet had taken over everything Hornet had built up.
"I was supposed to be Xander's Queen, not you," Hornet growled as her eyes flickered to the picture version of Juliet. "I was on top of the world…"
Now, she had been pushed to the side, forgotten, abandoned… Now, she felt unwanted as well.

I'm so tired of pretending. Where's my happy ending?
I followed all the rules. I drew inside the lines. I never asked for anything that wasn't mine. I waited patiently for my time, but when it finally came, he called her name.
And now I feel this overwhelming pain. I mean it's in my veins. I mean it's in my brain. My thoughts are running in a circle like a toy train. I'm kinda like a perfect picture with a broken frame.
Hornet took the picture off the wall, her fingers clenching so hard, the frame cracked and a hairline crack split across the glass that protected the black and white picture. She glared at Juliet's stupid, picture perfect smile, Xander's arm draped over the blonde's shoulders. Hornet's teeth clenched as she crossed the room, throwing the photograph into the fireplace. She gave a smile as she watched the vivid flames engulf the picture, orange flickers dancing gracefully over the smooth surface and the heat shattering the glass further.
"I know exactly who to blame."

I never thought of myself as mean. I always thought that I'd be the queen. And there's no in between, 'cause if I can't have that, then I would be the leader of the dark and the bad.
Now there's a devil on my shoulder where the angels used to be and he's calling me the queen.
Hornet tore her eyes from the enchanting flames, making her way through the hideout and into Xander's office. Memories surrounded her as she glanced around the room. They'd only been here for a year and a half, but memories seemed rooted everywhere they went, really. She remembered when she had first joined. Her skill was shooting and archery. She used bullets to blow tires on other people's cars, arrows to scare Xander's enemies. She only missed if she meant to.
According to everyone outside the group, she was the nice girl next door. Everyone on the inside, however, knew the truth .

Being nice was my pastime, but I've been hurt for the last time. And I won't ever let another person take advantage of me.
The anger burns my skin, third-degree. Now my blood's boiling hotter than a fiery sea. There's nobody getting close to me.
They're gonna bow to the Evil Queen.
Your nightmare's my dream. Just wait until they fall to my wicked schemes.
Hornet moved silently to Xander's desk, pulling open the bottom drawer on the right side, finding that the folders Xander always kept on his enemies had been pushed back as far as they could and a bundle of pink leather had been placed in front of it. With a glare at the unassuming object, Hornet tugged it out of the drawer and held it in tightly clenched fists.

I never thought of myself as mean. I always thought that I'd be the Queen. And there's no in between, 'cause if I can't have that then I would be the leader of the dark and the bad.
Now there's a devil on my shoulder where the angels used to be and he's calling me the queen of mean.
The queen of mean…
The queen of mean…
Something's pulling me it's so magnetic. My body is moving, unsure where I'm headed. All of my senses have left me defenseless. This darkness around me is promising vengeance.
The price that I'm willing to pay is expensive. There's nothing to lose when you're lonely and friendless.
So my only interest is showing this Princess that I am the Queen.
And my reign will be endless!
With that being said, Hornet gripped Juliet's initial that had been ironed onto the jacket and tore it off. With a brilliant smile, Hornet slid her arms into the jacket, feeling the comforting fabric surround her.

I want what I deserve! I want to rule the world! Sit back and watch them learn…
It's finally my turn!
