Anyway, where did we leave off?
Oh yeah.
Jack thought, What did Manny mean by "You two will be very close soon"?
Everyone went for the lounge room, to sit on the couches around the fireplace. Evidently, they left Jack behind because he was too deep in thought to see that they had all walked away.
I still don't even see why they thought they decided to lock her up in the first place. Who cares if she's Pitch's daughter? That doesn't mean she's evil like him. I've been a Guardian for a while now, but even so, I still don't understand the other four sometimes. Why would they let the fear take over them enough to lock her up for no reason? She never even did anything. Now suddenly they're all okay with it? What did Manny say to them? I'm thinking too much..
Before he could think and complicate things more, Sandy came up to him. He signed in his sand, "Jack, are you okay?" Jack simply nods in response.
"Yeah, I'm fine Sandy. Just... really deep in thought." Jack admits. Sandy tilts his head in childlike confusion. He signs,
"That's a bit strange for you Jack." Sandy 'says' honestly. Jack chuckles a little,
"Oh yeah? How so?" Jack asks, squatting to to (nearly) Sandy's height. Sandy signs,
"You aren't really one to think about things a lot. You're more of a carefree person." Sandy says, and Jack nods, agreeing.
"That is true," Jack confesses, "But even someone as carefree as I am thinks about complicated things sometimes." Sandy looks at him with a confused/concerned look.
"What were you thinking about? Is it about Adaline?" Sandy asks, his sand sparkling above his head. Jack sighs and nods his head.
"Exactly. Sandy, you are just too smart." He chuckles loosely. Sandy thinks for a moment, wondering. He then looks around, making sure no one was close enough to see what he was going to say.
"You know that Adaline is Katherine, right?" Sandy asks, and Jack's eyes widen.
"...Sandy.. how do you know that?" He asks quietly.
Sandy smiles, "It was really obvious. The way she was acting, especially around Bunnymund, gave it away, but I think I'm the only one who noticed." Sandy explained. Jack sighed a little.
"So it was really that obvious?" He asked, and Sandy nodded. "You won't tell them, will you?" Sandy shook his head.
"I won't. I will do all I can to make sure she stays free. It's the least I can do to apologize.. You know, I knew she was innocent. I knew she wouldn't do anything wrong against us, I didn't want to trap her in the tree... but the others outvoted me. I had no choice but to go along with them.. it was either go with them or be left behind." Sandy said sadly. Jack looked at him sympathetically. Jack placed his hand on Sandy's shoulder.
"I'm sure if you told her, she would forgive you." Jack smiles at him. Sandy smiles back, nodding.
"Thanks Jack."
"Oi! Whattaya blokes doin' out here? We're all having fun without ya!" Bunnymund comes and interrupts the moment. Jack and Sandy look at each other.
"Think he noticed?" Jack asks Sandy. Sandy shakes his head.
"Not likely. Let's go." He smiles and starts walking to the room where Bunny had come from. Jack chuckled while Bunnymund had given them a confused look. Jack grinned, walking into the room.
"The FUN has arrived!" He yells. Everyone laughs, continuing to have a great time.
Katherine smiles. Maybe.. just maybe... I can be their friend again.
"Aw, are you sure you have to leave?" Tooth asked, pulling a puppy-dog face. Kat nodded.
"Yes, I have to go. I have some things to take care of, you know, being an elemental and all." She explains curtly. Bunny looks at her, looking just a little suspicious.
"Oi, what sorta 'things' are you takin' care of? Can't you tell us?" Bunny asked, narrowing his eyes at her. Everyone looks at Bunny then at Kat. Kat gave a stoic expression.
"Like I said, elemental business."
"What business is it? Why can't you tell us?" Kat glares a little and walks up to him, mere inches away from his face.
"Listen Kangaroo.. I keep to my business, you keep to yours. Got it?" She glares and leaves.
Bunny growls and starts to go after her, "Who're you callin' a kangaroo?!" Tooth has to hold Bunny back, and Jack glared a little at Bunny.
"What are you doing? Why did you go getting suspicious? She's only doing her job as an elemental, and she just likes to keep to herself! Just leave her alone!" Jack shouts, and Sandy is starting to look worried.
"You're talkin' like you know somthin', Frostbite!"
"Maybe I do! And maybe it's something you're not supposed to know, so just back off!" Jack yells, now angry and flies after Katherine. Santa and Tooth have to hold Bunny back from chasing after Jack. Sandy looked around him worriedly, and flew after Jack and Katherine on his sand cloud.
"Ada! Wait!" Jack called, catching up to her, as she was flying as well. It was obvious she either couldn't hear him or ignored him, so he flew in front of her. "Katherine!" He shouts, and she's so shocked her forgets how to stop herself. She flies right into him, making them both fling forward. Jack is able to slow them down before they run into a building or tree, and before they can both lose control of the wind and fall.
She pushes away from him, "Did you call me Katherine?" Jack hesitantly nods.
"I couldn't get your attention otherwise."
"Well, flying right in front of me seemed more than enough to get my attention." She jokes harshly, obviously still angry. Jack sighs,
"Listen, I know you're angry. But I also know you don't want to direct that anger at me.. Please, just calm down.." He spoke calmly, hoping his calmness will reach her and calm her down. Somehow, it worked. She sighed, calming down.
"Yeah... sorry. Just.. He's so arrogant! Why did he have to get in my business like that? Who does he think he is? He's the Easter Bunny, so what? Uuggggghhhhhhh!" *Insert aggressive growling and frustration here.* Jack just stared at her, waiting for her little rant to be over.
"Are you done?" He asked, after she stopped growling and yelling. She took a moment to breathe, and then she nodded.
"Yep, I'm done."
"Are you sure?"
"...Yeah."
"You hesitated."
"..So?"
"You had to think about it. Are you sure you don't want to yell some more?"
"...Don't tempt me."
He puts his hands up in mock surrender. "Alright, alright. Just making sure. I don't want you to explode later on because you didn't let out all of your frustration now." He says, half joking and half serious.
She looks at him incredulously and bursts into laughter. Jack chuckles lightly, hoping this meant she was okay now. She could just be going crazy, but Jack seriously hoped it was the former. She giggles a bit more and calms down, rubbing a happy tear from her eye. "I don't know what it is, but there's something about you that just.. puts me at ease." She smiles brightly at him. Jack grins sheepishly.
"Oh really? Glad to hear that!" He exclaims happily. She beams, lightly nudging his shoulder with her fist. Jack chuckles.
Sandy flies close by, but stays distant when he sees them laughing together. He smiles, I'm glad.. they're okay.
I just hope it stays that way...
I'm so sorry for the long wait and the short chapter! I've been busy with school, and during Christmas break. ^^|l| I have a project that's due the day I go back to school and also 1st semester exams to prepare for. They also happen to be during the first week back at school. -_- Why must teacher torture us so?!
I say, if school isn't a place to sleep, home isn't a place to study! They shouldn't give us homework.
Anyway, I got this chapter done, and I still need to decide what other story I should do after I finish this one and my other ROTG fic. And I also came up with idea's for two other fics, but they're for Soul Eater instead of ROTG.
So, thank you for sticking with me so far, and please stick with me to the end. ^^
