5 Drabbles Competition
Andromeda/Ted
'daisies'
Andromeda was tired.
That was an understatement.
Andromeda was exhausted and drained.
She had spent the day chasing after her precocious whirlwind of a daughter. Andromeda had always imagined that having a daughter would be easier than a son. She had felt confident in her ability to host the perfect tea party and waltz around the house playing princesses, thus leading her to feel prepared when it came to raising her daughter.
Except Nymphadora didn't like tea parties or playing princesses.
Nymphadora liked to play pretend yes, but she liked to be an auror chasing after all the bad witches and witches that she would lock up in Azkaban. As much as Andromeda wanted to say no, whenever she was faced with the big pleading eyes of her daughter she caved immediately. She regretted that now though. Her body was sore, and she couldn't remember the last time she had moved so much, but as her daughter had informed her "you can't stay still in a chase mummy".
They had fake duelled around the house and garden for hours, Andromeda slowly showing off her duelling prowess, something that she had been known for back in Hogwarts. Not many had been willing to go against Andromeda Black and her quickfire curses. She hadn't realised how much she had enjoyed herself as she pretended to be caught and captured by her giggling daughter. Nymphadora had also enjoyed playing with her while also exercising her metamorphmagus powers, each time Andromeda was caught she would become a new auror with a new face and the game would start again.
After such a long day she was thankful that Nymphadora had willingly gone to bed with little fuss, and she couldn't wait for her husband to get home so they could share some Firewhisky by the fireplace. She couldn't wait to see his face when she told him about the adventures of today, he always said that she needed to let loose a little more.
Strolling into the kitchen to grab the bottle and glasses for when her husband arrived home, she was surprised to see him already in the kitchen. Stood at the counter with a box filled with sweet treats and a small bouquet of daisies and tulips, he gave her a grin as he placed a delicate grin against her flushed cheeks.
"Had a long day dear, you look exhausted," there was a grin on his face as he spoke to her, gazing at her adoringly as if she was his entire world.
"The best, Ted. Many adventures occurred today; I think Nymphadora might start calling me the fun parent now." Andromeda had always been the more authoritative parent, whereas Ted was a believer in life always being fun and filled with excitement.
"Really? I can't wait for you to tell me all about them."
They shared the Firewhisky while Andromeda told him all about their adventures.
