The abandoned slave hut Crawly and Aziraphale had chosen to shut themselves in for the night was not sturdy but it would have to do. He decided he would be the one to go out and kill the lamb as Aziraphale seemed in no state to do such.

They didn't have any kids in there but it was better to be safe and not have Azreal come snooping around and see a demon and an angel closer than five feet.

"Just stay here angel and get comfortable." He snapped his fingers and made a soft blanket appear and handed it to the angry angel. He threw it across the hut and Crawly attempted to not be offended.

"Stop talking like we're friends. We aren't. We are an angel and a demon. I don't know how you got me to do this with you."

"Me either. I just don't want to see you do something stupid."

"Stupid? Azreal can freeze time. No man, angel, demon or horseman will be able to stop Death and her including us."

"Alright. Don't have to get all fussy Aziraphale."

He huffed a sigh and turned to face the wall with his arms crossed. Crawly rolled his eyes and walked out to the fields. He caught a lamb with a fair amount of chasing and then took him back to the hut. There Aziraphale was still having his back turned huffing. Crawly shook his head.

He then took out the bowl and lifted the knife to the lamb's throat.

"This isn't anything personal. Isn't even from my side just so you know."

The lamb still gave him the death stare as he slit its throat and bleed him into the bowl. He hid the carcass in the bushes and used palm branches to spread the blood above the doorway. He then placed the rest of the blood near the door. He then miricled it off his hands even though he still felt dirty.

He went inside and saw Aziraphale still angrily huffing at the wall.

"Are you going to do that all night or are you actually going to try and get some sleep?"

Aziraphale turned to him and said, "I don't sleep."

"But you eat?"

"Eating is a nice pass time and I enjoy the different substances as they flow through my body and the various tastes."

"So do you use the bathroom or?"

"Oh good heavens no! I miracle it out of my system."

"Good to know. The full human experience isn't all it's cracked up to be."

"Why? Do you use the bathroom?"

"Of course not. I find it disgusting. Besides I rarely eat anyways."

"Well in Sodom I saw a demon eating human fecal matter."

"Not all demons are the same Aziraphale."

"Like how you won't attack me?"

"Exactly. It would be a stupid waste of demonic power to even try."

With that, he snapped his fingers and mircilced a little cot for himself with a super soft blanket. He began to lower himself down when a thought crossed his mind.

"So you have never tried to sleep at all? Never?"

"No, I haven't."

Maybe that was why Aziraphale was so anxious all the time. He never got any sleep. It could calm him down if he tried it. He then snapped a cot on the other side of the hut for Aziraphale. Aziraphale looked at it and shook his head.

"So greedy you had to make yourself two beds? You better not be a sleepwalker."

"No, it's not for me! It's for you to try and get some shut-eye."

"I don't sleep."

"You should try it. It would help with your uneasiness about everything."

"I don't have any uneasiness."

"I am a demon who can sense these things and you aren't fooling anyone."

"Well, I don't even know how to sleep."

Crawly groaned and sat up.

"Okay, I will teach you."

"And no micicling me to sleep either. Like that one time with Job."

"You are welcome for helping you not get killed by demons."

They walked over to the cot and Crawly motioned for Aziraphale to lie down. He then pulled a blanket over the stiff as a board angel. Why the hell did Aziraphale smell like fine wine and honeycombs? He was so close to his face and the beating of the heart was back.

Of course, this demonic cognitive dissonance was going to give him a heart-attack someday but no matter how hard he tried he could never distance himself from Aziraphale. Perhaps it was how easy it was to work up the angel or how he had a gentle kindness to him when they forget they were in fact supposed to be enemies. Crawly wasn't sure what it was.

"It would do you some good to relax. You look like Satan is about to emerge from the surface to suck your soul away."

Aziraphale sat up and threw his hands in the air in a fussy fit.

"How on heaven and Earth am I supposed to relax? The angel of Death is literally about to come through Egypt and steal all the firstborns away!"

"Okay. Okay. Maybe don't think about that!"

"How can I not? Innocent souls being taken and no one seems to care."

"I care."

"You are a demon. You can't care about anything."

"Look are you going to try to sleep or not?"

"I am trying."

"Then lay down."

Aziraphale did as he was told but still was stiff as a board.

"Okay. Close your eyes."

"So you can trick me?"

"No Aziraphale. I am not going to do anything. It is a part of sleeping. I am just doing this so I can get some shut eye while you shut up! If it makes you feel any better you won't be fully unaware of your surroundings. You can still sense me."

He closed his eyes and looked like a constipated child. Crawly sighed.

"Now what?"

"Now don't think about anything."

Aziraphale opened his eyes with a frown.

"That's impossible."

"Well the humans do it all the time so..."

"They need sleep. We don't."

"I sleep."

"Demons probably sleep all the time. With sloth being a sin and all."

"No Aziraphale. They really don't. I am the only one who does."

"Oh really?"

"Yes. Now if you don't mind I would like to get some so stop with the annoying questions."

"Oh right. Sorry."

Aziraphale closed his eyes. Crawly sighed and went back to his cot. He got comfortable and shut his eyes.

"Crawly?"

"Argh! What Aziraphale?"

"Sorry...I just...the last time...I slept without my consent was...well I had this sort of picture show in my head..."

"It was just a dream. It happens when you sleep."

"But it felt so real."

"Yeah, that happens. Just go to sleep or try to."

"And it was disturbing too. I dreamed I was falling from Heaven to the fiery pits of Hell. I watched my wings turn black. What does it mean?"

Aziraphale sounded really bothered about it.

"It was just a nightmare. It is what humans call a bad dream."

"Do you have dreams like that?"

"Not usually. I don't normally dream."

"But what if I can't wake up?"

"That won't happen. I will help you get up."

"But you just slept for four days straight."

"With the help of alcohol."

"Still."

"It will be fine angel. Just go to sleep."

"Okay. I will stop talking."

"Good."

Crawly attempted to fall asleep once more.

"Crawly?"

"That doesn't sound like going to sleep Aziraphale."

"I just can't understand why God would use children as a pawn to help set a group of people free."

"It is above and beyond our understanding remember. Don't worry about things you can't help. Now go to sleep before I miracle a gag over your mouth."

Crawly got comfortable and within minutes he drifted off.
