Kisses Covered in Dirt
The trench he had dove into was not the ideal place to hide, but it was infinitely better than trying to hide on the surface. From here, Obi-Wan would not be spotted easily. The beings that had been tracking him would find it a lot harder to find him since he now blended in with the brown earth around him. The dirt on his skin was dry and tickled his nose, but he decided it was a necessary evil in this situation. It would have been much harder to blend into the green grass of the field on the surface, and so he settled for hiding the best way he knew how… covered in dirt.
He pressed himself against the makeshift wall, his chest heaving as he tried to remain silent and listen for the telltale sound of footsteps. A soft shifting of dirt caught his attention, and he held his breath until he sensed the movement of two beings right above his head.
"I don't see him! Maybe he went back in?"
"Don't be silly, we would have seen him if he did. Check the trench."
"I'm not going down there, it's dirty."
"Well now what?"
"Let's go back inside. You know how sneaky he is."
The rather high-pitched voices tickled his ears, and he fought a triumphant smile as he heard them turn and begin running away from his position. He let out a breath when he heard the quiet sound of a door shutting, chuckling softly as he dusted himself off.
"The master of Hide-and-Seek triumphs again I see."
Obi-Wan looked up towards the opening of the trench, a grin spreading over his lips when he saw Satine standing there, their youngest son Ben on her hip. The one-year-old was vigorously sucking his thumb, his eyes wide as he stared at Obi-Wan with obvious excitement. These two had a habit of sneaking up on him, and even now he wondered how they managed to do so when he was always so in tune with his surroundings.
"I am a master of many things." he chuckled, hopping out of the trench and giving her a rather smug smile. "Winning at Hide-and-Seek is simply a pastime."
Obi-Wan leaned forward to give her a kiss, a bit flustered when she placed a finger on his lips to stop him.
"I love you, Obi-Wan, but you are riddled with dirt and I just gave Ben a bath." Satine laughed as he sighed beneath her finger.
"That explains the hair…" Obi-Wan chuckled as he backed away, ruffling their son's damp blond tresses that stuck up in strange directions all over his head. Satine rolled her eyes, making a mental note to re-wash the baby's hair as the dirt on her husband's hand clung to the dampness.
"Daddy!"
Their 6-year-old twins, Jinn and Liana, were bolting from the house, sprinting across the field towards them with large grins on their faces. Jinn was an inch shorter than Liana, but that didn't stop him from pushing his sister so that he could reach their parents first. She didn't fall, only stumbled before catching herself and speeding past her brother. They reached Obi-Wan and Satine at the same time, but did not slow down.
Obi-Wan only had enough time to grunt as he was tackled to the ground, the dirt on his clothes turning into a sort of dusty smoke as they hit the ground. He chuckled breathlessly as the twins sat on the ground on either side of him, their small hands gripping the shirt he wore as they giggled wildly.
"I knew you were out here!" Liana grinned.
"Did you, Liana?" Obi-Wan smiled, sitting up to raise an eyebrow at his daughter. "And how precisely did you know that?"
Her smile widened as she leaned forward to whisper in his ear, her voice still a touch above whispering volume. "I sensed you."
Jinn bounced on his knees on the other side of his father, his light brown curls doing their own dance about his head.
"Ah, I see."
Obi-Wan grinned, nodding impressively as if he didn't already know that she was Force-sensitive. Jinn may have been as well, but he hadn't yet shown signs, not that anyone held it against him. Jinn was impressively intelligent for his age, a lot like his mother.
"Well, you only found me after your mother did, so I'm afraid you did not quite win this round."
Before either of them could react, Obi-Wan scooped the twins up in his arms and tickled them relentlessly. Their giggles were joined by Ben's happy cries as he reached for them, his desire to join them evident. But Satine held onto him, her own laughter mixing with everyone else's.
By the time Obi-Wan let them go, the three of them were covered in a few grass stains and a fine layer of dirt.
"It seems a few more baths are in order before dinner." Satine laughed, watching Obi-Wan get to his feet and hoist Jinn onto his back. Liana took his hand, her smile wide.
"It would seem that you are correct, my dear." Obi-Wan chuckled, walking alongside her towards the house. He set Jinn down on the porch, watching he and Liana bolt inside towards the bathroom to get cleaned up. He took a hold of Satine's arm before she stepped inside, stealing a kiss that made young Ben squeal and bounce on her other hip. When he broke the kiss, Satine gave him a disapproving look that melted into an exasperated smirk.
"You are impossible, Obi," she sighed, "and you taste like dirt."
A/N: Whoo! Idk I've always loved the idea of Obi-Wan and Satine being able to start a family, and I wanted to delve a little into how Obi-Wan might interact and play with his kids. Plus I left out what planet they're living on on purpose, because I feel like they could either live on Mandalore, or on a different planet where they aren't as well known for safety. Sorry if anyone is out of character! I'm doing my best :) Review please XD
