CHAPTER 3:

BEHIND THOSE EYES

Pepper:(from the past) what the hell is going on here? Is this some sort of joke?

Tony: (stare at both pepper's back and forth)

Maya: ( speechless as she looks back and forth between them as well)

Pepper:(from the past looks at the other pepper) I don't know how Tony found you or why he thought this was funny but it isn't, you can leave now.

Pepper: I been wanted to leave but FYI, tony didn't hire me. I came to Tony on my own.

Pepper:(past pepper crosses her arms and stares at the other pepper unamused) so, your just another con artist trying to make a quick buck. Your not the first or the last person to try to blackmail, lie or etc to get money from Tony.

Pepper: well, you don't have to worry about that because I'm not one of those people. I'm not here to get anything out of Tony, I was just confused and now I'm leaving.

Pepper:(past) goodbye.

Maya:(grabs the other pepper's shoulder, Pepper just wanted to leave) wait, why did you come here?

Pepper (exhales sharply, a little bit annoyed of having to explain herself. At this moment she began to regret opening her mouth.) I didn't come here, I woke up here.

Pepper:(from the past) what? So your telling me that you got so hammered that you, broke in here and went to sleep.

Pepper: no! That's not what I'm saying, does it look like I broke in?! (she said angrily) just let me leave.

Tony: I believe you.

Pepper:(from the past) what! ( she said in a confused tone)

tony: I don't know what it is but I believe her, it must be something in her eyes. They tell the truth and I detect no lies, I think I know you well enough to know that I know that she's not lying.

Pepper:(from the past) she's not me! and second, you don't know me as well as you think you do.

Tony: that's what I let you think.

Pepper:(from the past) whatever, she's still not me!

Tony: then lets do some test to find out (he turns to her) if she's willing.

Pepper:(from the past) even if she is willing, who's to say she's not in the pockets of the people that we have take the test.

Pepper: I just wanna leave here, I'm so done with all of this.

Maya: what was the plan?

Pepper: I don't have a plan, I just wanna leave.

Pepper:(from the past) and allow you to walk around with my face pretending to be me.

Pepper: I'm not pretending! I'm you! This might be a different dimension but I'm you!

Tony: that makes sense now.

Maya: what makes sense now? What did she tell you?

Tony: a lot ( he says smugly)

Maya: what did she say?

Pepper:( from another dimension?) and what could she have said to make you believe her?

Tony: it's just a feeling.

Pepper:(dimension) how can you have a feeling about someone you don't know! she's not me! (pepper exhales and puts her hand on her temple. She sits on the couch and tries to catch her breathe.)

Tony: I know how crazy it might seem to you but believe me, I don't think she's lying or that she wants anything from me.

Pepper:(dimension) whatever, I'm over it.

Pepper: I just wanna get back home because as tragic as it is, it's not worst then this. On top of that, I just miss our daughter ( Pepper closes her eyes and breathes in sharply after realizing what she just said.)

Maya: ( she looks at tony pointing at pepper) this is why you believe her, because she told you that in an alternate universe you guys have a kid together?

Tony: no. I believe her because she told me and I looked into her eyes.

Pepper:(dimension) you and that eyes line is getting on my nerves, you don't know what your talking about. Why would you flat out believe this?

Tony: well, it's just something that you will never understand because I can't undo how I feel.

Pepper: you don't have to defend me, I never planned to come here and it I was asked I wouldn't have came here.

Tony turns to the pepper from his dimension and points to pepper from another world. He says to her, " she has you mannerism, your compassion, your love, light hardheartedness and everything else that comes with the the pepper Potts package.

Pepper:(smiles) thank you for that, I am you just from another dimension. Now I just wanna leave.

Tony: you must be here for a reason.

Those words echoed in her mind, she remembered tony saying that exact line when he told her why he

became Iron man. Now he was saying that to her, that struck something in her heart because they

meant something. He was telling the truth, he was alive for a reason but it just wasn't for a reason that

he thought. Not for her! Or the world! But for himself because he needed to find himself and to see

how important he was. That he needed to start living for himself and not for others but he wanted to

save the world.

That's how selfless he was but yet people thought other wise. With him saying that to

her, adding in the fact that he was from another dimension and he felt that connection to her, this was

beyond amazing and she was so emotional. She had to sit down too because her legs began to shake

and she sat down before to fainted. Tony sat down next to her and reached for her hands to comfort her

and asked her is she OK? She didn't respond, she just kept trying to catch her breathe because this was

just too much for her.

Tony: I'm sorry, did I say something wrong?

Pepper: no, no I just remembered something you said in my world.

Tony: oh. So I'm just as logically in this world, as I I'm in this one.

Maya: yeah, that's OK. You can just ignore the fact that were here.

Tony: that's not what I'm doing, I'm just trying to find out what's going on.

Maya: she just told you! Why do you need to know more.

Tony: I'm just trying to help her.

Pepper:( dimension) don't let your selflessness dictate your emotions, it's setting you up to be manipulated.

Tony: your just jumping to conclusions.

Pepper:( dimension) and I think your going in blind here.

Tony: were just going in circles here. You should stay, your in a world looking like this... you should definitely stay here.

Pepper: fine! I'm going to stay in the guest room.( pepper storms into the guest room and tony turns around to there dimension pepper and Maya) see!

Pepper pounced on the bed and just pouted on the bed. She surveyed the room and it still looked the same. Everything expect the fact that it had Maya's clothes in the closet.
