CHAPTER 6
THE RESCUE MISSION
Pepper felt the sun hit her face and she couldn't believe that it was just a dream. Even though it was
just a dream, she got the message that tony needed her help and she was the only one that could save
him. She was going to do it, he needed her. How was she going to help him though? What did he need
saving from? She didn't know but she was going to figure it out when she got there. She sat up in bed
and wiped her face, she groaned in her hands because of the dream and because she was not ready to
wake up. She just wanted to go back to sleep but she needed to go save Tony. She took an uber to his
place and once she got to the house people were shooting at it.
Pepper: oh my god! Tony!
She ran to the house without thinking and got shot, she fell to the ground and the gun with the gun
came up to her. Two guys came to drag her off, they dragged her into she was behind the bush. They
reached down to grab her watch and they heard a beeping sound.
Friday: defense mode activated!
Metal popped out of the watch and shot into their flesh, the metal pierce their skin paralyzing them.
Friday: the police has been alerted and they are on their way.
Pepper:(smiled) thank you friday.
Friday: flad to offer my services mrs. potts.
Pepper broke the door down and saw Maya crying holding a towel on tony's chest.
Maya: hang on honey, help is on the way.
Pepper rushes to tony pushes maya to the side without noticing. She removes the towel with maya's hands with noticing again, she places the watch over tony's chest and calls on friday.
Friday: yes mrs. potts.
Pepper: acess the wound please.
Friday: his bearly holding on
pepper: can you save him?
Friday: yes , just remove the watch and step back.
Pepper quickly takes off the watch and places it on tony's chest. Friday goes to work on tony, she
removes the bullet from his chest, removes any metal in his chest, she sows him up, gives him pain
medication and tapes up the wound.
Pepper: call Tony's doctor, let him know to be ready to finish the work.
Friday: calling tony's doctor.
Maya: I called the ambulance already ( she says angerily)
pepper: tony deserves better then that, the doctor can work fast and save his life.
Maya: what is with you thinking that you know tony better then me. I knew him first.
Pepper: but I know him better and I know what he needs.
Maya: your dillusional
pepper: no, I just saved his life, both your lives actually. So I expect you to be a little nicer to me and a thank you.
Maya: well your not getting it.
Pepper: well, I didn't expect you to.
Maya: leave!
Pepper: I will when tony feels better.
Maya: I can kick you out!
Pepper: I will like to see you try, especially after I just saved tony.
Maya: your being rude, get out of my house!
Pepper: no, i'm just worried about Tony. I'm not gonna go until I know his ok!
Maya: fine! Then I want you out!
Pepper: I don't want to be here with you, anymore then you want me here. So stuff it! We can wait in silence.
After Pepper said that, tony's doctor ran in and went to tony's body. He did the rest of the work and
with the assit of Pepper and Maya carried him to the couch to rest. Pepper went to their room to crab a
blanket and then she placed it over him. She layed on the couch across from him and fell asleep. She
wasn't sure that's how she was supposed to save him but one thing that she did know, was that she was
going to have to face quite the challenge to save Tony.
She was woken up by a sudden jolt to her leg it was tony, he was still sleeping and a pparently dreaming. So she took the time make tony his favorite breakfast, which was banana and strawberry pancakes, sunny side up eggs with sausage and toast with coffee, 2 sugars and caremel cappacino. She sat it on the table across from him. He started to shift side to side in the couch as the smell from the
food hit his nose. He woke and sat up on the couch, pepper smiled at him and eagely grab the plate and fork and handed it to him. He smiled and thanked her and began eating, she sat the plate down momentarily to grab a sip of coffee. "oh my god! He exclaimed " that is the best best cappacinio I have ever tasted.
Pepper: you've been sipping someone's elses cappacinio, i'm jealous ( pepper says filrtly with a smile on her face and staring at pepper)
tony (whips his head up in shock and smile on his face) pep, when did you get here?
Pepper: last night
tony: you snook in again?
Pepper: I never snook in.
tony: well, i'm glad your back. What brings you by.
Pepper: are you really going to pretend that you getting shot didn't happen?
Tony: oh yeah, I forgot about that.
Pepper: I didn't mean to bring up such a bad memory, I just don't get why your suit didn't come or why the home defense system didn't activate.
Tony: I doubt any suit could protect against bullet holes.
Pepper: I meant your ironman suit.
Tony: I have never heard of that kind of suit, where can I get one from? If it's blocking bullets, I definitly need one. Where can I get one?
Pepper: from you! Because you made it!
Tony: why?
Pepper: because of what happened in afghanistan!
Tony: never been and never needed a reason to be there.
Pepper: to show the soliders the weapons
tony: that never happen, maybe it did in your world but not in mine.
Pepper:(whisper to herself) maybe that's how I help you. You need to built that suit and I need to teach you how to use it.
Tony: no thanks. I can just hire a bodyguard like a normal person.
Pepper: your not normal! And you need to do this for your safety!
The bedroom door creaks open and Maya steps out, she rubs her eyes and walks down the stairs.
Maya: what's all the commotion?
Pepper: nothing!
Tony: well, pepper just asked for a really weird request.
Maya: you are so desperate, get it through your head that my husband doesn't want to sleep with you.
Tony: nothing like that
maya: whatever, I don't care you can go now. You see that his ok, you can go!
Pepper: not before he does what I said.
Maya: well, im gonna have to pull you out of here because his not doing what you said.
Pepper: you can try
maya gets up and pepper gets up
tony: enough! Enough! Pep. I thought about what you said and I will do it.
Maya: excuse me?!
tony: she said I needed to protect myself.
Maya sighs and makes her a plate of food and sits at the table to eat. Tony and pepper walk down to the
lab. Pepper shows tony the schamatics of the ironman suit and the rescue suit, he takes one look at it
and starts creating the ironman like...like he was her tony. It was at this moment that she knew that he
really was hers, she smiled and watched him create the ironman suit. He was in his zone, the zone she
often saw him in when he was creating something, especially when he was creating the ironman suit.
Pepper knew how desperate she must've looked sitting there, watching tony work and smiling.
Especially since he was in his white tank and he was sweating and he had his tongue out. Then it
happened, he looked up from his work and smiled at her, she nearly jumped him right there but she
remembered who he was and where she was, she shook her head and smiled back. He seemed to laugh
at her shaking her head, almost as if he knew what she was thinking about. He went back to work, she
went back to the living room to get something to drink, she washed out her cup and then put it back
and she continued waiting the rest of her time here. She watched Tv as tony tinker on their suits, a
couple of hours later, he called pepper down to look at the suits. When pepper came down she burst
into tears and tony stared at her confused. They look exactly like the ones from her world, Pepper
touched each one but when she touched the resccue one and said "welcome back" the suit lit up and
wrapped itself around her as did Tony's
pepper looks at tony with a serious look on her face, she says in a confident tone
pepper: let's get to work!
Tony: how the hell did it do that, I didn't even make it like that.
pepper: the suits are magical
tony: really? How
pepper: voice activation
tony laughs
pepper: ok, step 1 flying: point your arms to the ground and activate the repulsors
Tony does as Pepper says and just like last time he falls on the cars and dummy extinguishes him.
Pepper can't believe how couldn't believe how everything was the same as last time. Pepper helps tony
up and they continue trainging. After a couple of hours later, pepper puts the suit in her watch and she
goes upstairs to make dinner. She makes chicken with shrimp, red potatoes with butter and cilantro and
asparagus with tomatoes and onions smothered in alfredo sauce. She smiles when she done and calls
Tony up to eat, maya comes down and eats too and they all eat together... that was so akwatrrd! Once
they finish the food, they go back down to train. After a couple of hours pass and pepper sees that it's
five o'clock, she she heads to bed while tony continues to make more suits and tinker. She now
understood why Tony made so many suits and why he spent so many hours tinkering... he was afarid,
he was scared that the people that he loved were in danger and he couldn't do anything to stop it. He
wanted to help whoever felt that way as well and he saved them all. He not only did that but he
provided comfort and gave advice, not everyone listened but... he helped anyway he could. She didn't
know if he knew or not but HE WAS HER HERO and right now, he was reminding her of him but she
been knew it was.
