So I started watching Hunter X Hunter last month and I cannot get enough of Killugon! And so after the anime I dived into endless Killugon fics, especially the ones by DecemberCamie on AO3. I really hope that Togashi shows us their reunion soon (even though that may be 10 years from now)
I do not own Hunter X Hunter cause if I did Killugon would be official without a doubt
In a world where soulmates exist.
Everyone knows that the blood that flows in our veins is blue. It is only when your blood mixes with your soulmate's blood that the endless blue turns into a scarlet red.
Killua Zoldyck never questioned where he was in the social hierarchy. Everyone knew that the Zoldycks were one of the top ten multinationals that dominated the world. In every field, they excelled and never settled for anything less than top three. Their names were featured in Forbes, Times etc. annually without fail and even an orphan or beggar on the streets would have heard of their names at least once. They were indeed, born of blue blood.
Killua Zoldyck was this generation's prized heir. The world bent for him and his whims, if he wanted anything, he was given on a silver platter seconds upon his request. He was the golden boy of the Zoldycks and expected to uphold the dignified image of his family, never associating with those of lower status, never lowering their heads for anything. However, it was at this moment that he was on his knees, tightly clasping a rough calloused hand with all his might as if it would slip away the moment he loosened his grip. Tears stained his pristine porcelain skin and his beautiful sapphire eyes, clouded with grief and desperation, his voice hoarse and cracked as he tried to speak.
"G-Go-n- GON!"
How did things turn out this way? How did everything go wrong in a span of minutes or even seconds?
Being the heir of the Zoldyck name, Killua had been trained to excel in every field. From Business, to fighting and even home economics. Whatever a Zoldyck did, they came out on top. It was an irrefutable fact in life. Even so, everyone from the main family is assigned a butler/ bodyguard from birth who will act as a protector and a confidant till their last breaths. His eldest brother Illumi's butler was a certified creep named Hisoka. His fighting prowess is definitely a feat to behold at but his pervertness was just as notable. That clown made passes at anyone and everyone who he deemed was strong and Illumi was his constant target. Till this day, Killua could never understand how Illumi could stand being with Hisoka 24/7. Killua's butler was the son of his father's butler, Ging Freeces. When he first heard of his butler being Ging's son, he had his doubts. In his mind Ging was always a sloppily dressed, hunched back and lazy old fart who complained about anything if given the opportunity. Wouldn't his son be just as bad coming from a father like that? Fortunately, Gon Freeces was a different kind of hard to handle from his father.
With hazel eyes that blazed with passion like the sun, spiked up hair that could never be tamed and an infectious amount of cheer in every cell of his being, Gon Freeces destroyed his whole concept of the world and brought him into the light. Never had he ever met anyone as optimistic and caring as Gon in his entire cold life cooped up in the Zoldyck mansion. Gon laughed and cried, wearing his heart on his sleeve for the whole world to see his weaknesses but yet, he wasn't a slouch when it came to fighting.
How could a person – angel – like Gon possibly exist?
Gon held Killua's hands wherever they went, hugged him without hesitation, looked at him with such adoration that Killua had to look away from such intensity directed at him. Everyone inside his family kept him at a distance for he was the heir, everyone outside his family treated him with scorn and envy for he represented everything they were not.
Except Gon Freeces.
Gon broke down every wall, every defense Killua made for himself and taught him instead of hate, he should love and instead of cold indifference, he should be warm and caring. The only thing Killua was truly grateful for as his life as a Zoldyck it was being able to meet Gon, at this point, he can never imagine his life without that radiant ball of joy beside him.
The day started off fairly normal, it was an inspection day at one of the branch companies and as the heir, Killua had to do the inspection with Gon trailing behind. Everything ran fairly simple with the accounts checked, communications with the team and finally addressing any concerns raised. It was only when they were leaving the building that there was a deafening explosion followed by crashing sounds that shocked the whole building and within seconds the entire building started shaking with structures breaking and falling apart. Panicked screams tore through the hazy air as Killua and Gon stepped up and tried evacuating the building. It was while Killua was helping someone climb through a fallen piece of slab that he heard Gon's frantic shout of "KILLUA!" and was tackled to the ground. Coughing the dust out of his system and regaining his vision, Killua opened his eyes to a scene from what had to be his worst nightmare. Gon's back had shards of glass deeply embedded into it and rubbles of rock caught within the spikes of his hair. Blue was gushing out of the wounds like a fountain, seeping into his white dress shirt and painting his tanned face.
This had to be a dream, this could not be real. How could Gon, his Gon, be lying motionless like this. Gon was energy, Gon was life, Gon is never meant to stay still looking so hurt(dead) like this. Nudging Gon gently trying to stir him awake, Gon's name escaped from his lips like a record, each time getting slower and more broken than before.
Momentarily, Gon's eyes fluttered and shifted into focus with a soft smile appearing on his battered and injured face as he gazed at Killua and passed out again. Before closing his eyes, he only uttered one phrase that broke Killua's heart into a thousand pieces.
"I am glad you are safe Killua, that is all I will ever need."
How could that idiot say something like this! With his life bleeding out of his body, hands still wrapped around Killua, how could he close his eyes after saying something like that. They both knew that for Killua, Gon is all he ever needs.
Why was it that if he was blessed with everything that the Zoldyck's name holds, why wasn't he blessed with the power to save Gon? Why did out of all the people he had to get attached to, why did it have to be this self-sacrificing, brilliant light of his life?
Taking out his frustrations by biting his lips till its skin tore, blood trickled down from his lips, his chin and finally to Gon's wound. His aquamarine orbs widened in surprise because as subtle as it was, when Killua's blood mixed with Gon's blood, the everlasting blue bled to become a scarlet red.
Ah, so that is why I –
Hope you enjoyed it!
