Todoroki regretted all of his life decisions. Every single one.

All he wanted was to have a calm night so he could finish his homework and talk to his best friend. That's all he wanted. He just wanted to do the english assignment he procrastinated on then go to sleep at a reasonable time... and yet there he was in another fist fight at two in the morning.

Todoroki sighed out loud as he dodged another kick from his opponent. He yawned and ducked as he swept out the mugger's legs out from underneath him. The second mugger then tried to jump on top of him, but Todoroki simply moved a bit to the left and pushed his back, sending him crashing to the ground.

Todoroki froze both of them to the ground, making sure there was no way they could escape.

Then, he looked around to see if the man who was being mugged was still around. Of course he's gone. How grateful.

He sighed again as he took out his burner phone to tell the police where they were; making sure to hang up as quickly as possible. Now he could finally make his way back home.

He had only walked for five minutes when he heard a muffled scream coming from a dark alleyway.

Just my luck. Better get this over with.

He looked at where he heard the scream for a moment, inhaling deeply and questioning his life decisions again. Then he sprinted over to the alleyway.

Upon arriving, he saw two men standing over a woman, with a third person holding a cloth over her mouth and pinning her down. They were too caught up yelling (in a language he didn't understand) to notice him .

Todoroki quickly formed ice around the feet of the guy closest to him, trapping him in place. The guy let out a surprised gasp and began trying to free his feet, getting the attention of the other two guys and the woman. The woman's big green eyes widened, and he could see that she was visibly relieved. The guy's hold on her tightened, and he attempted to death glare Todoroki.

His glare isn't very intimidating.

The guy who wasn't pinning down the woman stopped shouting and said to Todoroki, with a shaky voice, "Oh look, Equator. The... big scary lawbreaker who tries to pawn himself off as a hero." He was clearly trying to make himself sound tough, but Todoroki could see him shaking. All of them were, and it also appeared that they were all unarmed.

They must be idiots.

Todoroki felt the urge to sigh, but he didn't. No need to aggravate them. Not that he was really that worried about them. He was just too tired to put up with this.

Todoroki added more ice to the feet of the person who was trapped to make sure he didn't escape before he rushed forwards and tackled the second guy, keeping the third guy in his peripheral vision. After only a short amount of time grappling the second guy had been frozen to the ground as well, even though he got a few solid punches in; including one to his face. He had a surprised and confused look on his face, as if he didn't expect to be taken down so easily. His confusion quickly turned to anger and he began struggling, but to no avail. Todoroki turned his attention to the third guy. Todoroki assumed the third guy would be as easy to take down as the others. However, since he had the woman pinned down, he figured it was best to try to get him to surrender to minimize the chances of her getting injured.

I doubt he will, but I might as well try.

"Let the woman go. I don't want to fight you but I am not afraid to if it becomes necessary," said Todoroki with a monotone voice.

The third guy grinned.

"Now why would I do that? Do you really think that-"

He was cut off by a surprised shout from the entrance of the alleyway. Todoroki didn't take his eyes off of the third guy, but he listened as the person from behind began shouting into their phone. They were clearly calling the police, screaming about how "There's a thug and Equator is helping him!"

Does it look like I am helping them? The other two guys were frozen to the ground thanks to me. People really have it out for vigilantes.

The guy holding down the woman let her go and began trying to flee before the police arrived. It was weird that he was more frightened of the police than Todoroki, but it probably doesn't matter. With a quick flick of his wrist, Todoroki froze him down to the ground too.

The person who called the police began screaming at him, calling him a freak, a villain, the regular stuff. Todoroki ignored her and went to check on the woman who was attacked. Luckily she was relatively unharmed, ignoring a few bruises and scrapes. She began thanking him, much to the disapproval of the other woman.

Her screaming is giving me a migraine. I wish I could freeze her to the ground too.

He shook his head to get that thought out of his mind, and decided to start asking questions to the victim to make sure she was ok. She assured him that she was fine, but something about the way she said it sent chills up Todoroki's spine.

It's probably nothing.

When he looked up he realized that the woman who called the police was now telling him that he should be locked up, is doing more harm than good, and the world would be far better off without 'freaks'. Todoroki ignore her in favor of getting some more information about the victim.

He asked what her name is, and she said 'To-" but was cut off by the the sound of car doors slamming. He looked towards the entrance of the alleyway and saw police officers surrounding the area.

I must have been really distracted to not hear the sirens... I have to focus.

Todoroki decided that he should leave before the situation escalates. After all, the last time he stayed around when the police arrived he almost got shot. Using his ice, he shot up to the rooftop and sprinted away to his closest hideout spot. He wanted to head home, but didn't want to risk them following him.

As he approached, he saw a silhouette of another person a little farther off.

I hope it's who I think it is and not a random person...

When he got closer, he saw that it was Sudden, a vigilante he often works with. He let out an internal sigh of relief.

Not exactly who I was hoping for, but far better than a police officer or anyone else like that.

Sudden whipped his head around when he heard Todoroki approaching, but relaxed a bit when he saw who it was. Todoroki stopped sprinting and paused to catch his breath. A few moments of silence passed.

Then Sudden asked "What happened during patrol?" No pleasantries, just straight to the point. (like always)

"I got punched in the face and someone told the police I was assisting a mugger. At least I got to leave before they arrived."

He shook his head angrily, "God damn police officers. Why don't they see that we're helping?! You'd think at some point they would have to realize that we aren't villains!" Sudden paused, then said "Your face is going to have a nasty bruise later."

Todoroki wasn't surprised at how blunt he was. He already accepted that it's just a part of his personality. Although it will probably get him in trouble at some point, Todoroki knew that he was a good person.

Suddenly he heard a phone going off. Todoroki turned to Sudden, and saw him pull out a burner phone.

As soon as he picked up Todoroki heard muffled talking on the other end, but he couldn't distinguish what the words were. He could hear what Sudden was saying though.

...

"Why the fuck are you awake and what do you want?

...

"Why I'm awake is none of your business."

...

"No you cannot go through my stuff, fuck you!"

...

"I don't care!"

...

"It's not my problem! Next time don't be a fucking idiot!"

...

"Don't give me that crap!"

...

"Go through my stuff and I'll kill you!"

...

"No I don't have anything to hide you moron! Fuck off! Leave me alone!"

...

"Fuck you!"

He slammed the phone shut with enough force that Todoroki wondered if he broke it.

Who was he talking to? Why would they need to go through his stuff? Does it matter?

"What are you looking at?!"

Todoroki realized he had been staring at Sudden the whole time.

"Nothing. Just thinking"

After a few beats of awkward silence, Todoroki remembered how tired he was, and that he should head home.

"I better get going. I usually don't stay out this late."

Sudden grunted in response.

"See you later I guess," Sudden said. "I need to get back to patrolling."

Todoroki looked at Sudden for a moment more, then turned and began heading home. He used his ice as a bridge between buildings to increase his speed. He knew the city by heart by now, and after only a few minutes he arrived at an empty warehouse near his home.

Todoroki used the warehouse to store his supplies and change. In a hidden room of course, he's not so stupid as to leave it out in the open. After changing quickly, he began walking to his house, sticking to the shadows with his hood up just in case.

Now he had to sneak in. Luckily for him, he could do it with ease.

Using his ice as a bridge, he brought himself up above the house, then jumped down to a tree in the garden area outside the house. There were no security cameras pointing above the house, and the garden had a lot of blind spots.

From there he continued to quickly move from one tree or bush to the next, staying in the cameras' blind spots. He had memorized them even before he became a vigilante, which meant that there was almost no chance he would get caught.

After about five minutes, he was finally in his looked around. His room was still very neat and tidy, if you ignore the mountain of school work on his desk. With a heavy sigh, he walked over to his desk and sat down.

I have to get this done before school. I'll probably be fine, so long as I don't fall asleep.

The next morning:

I fell asleep and only did a quarter of my work. Today will be rough.
