A couple weeks later Michael is laying sprawled out on the couch as Jesse and Sam sit on the floor nearby "How much more paperwork?"
"A bunch" Sam says looking at the pile of paperwork on the table
"Well give me some and we'll split the reading" Michael says sitting up as he wraps a blanket around his shoulders as Sam hands him some papers
"There was less reading when I was buying a car or house" Jesse says rubbing his eye as Fiona comes into the living room
"Still going" Fiona says as she hands them glasses of iced tea
"Yea if I knew there was this much work involved in starting an agency never would have done it" Michael says as he continues looking at pages
"Well I have a proposition for you" Fiona says sitting down beside Michael as he looks at her" Fiona says continuing to look at him "I was thinking we could go out to eat tomorrow night and go to a show at the theater afterwards"
"A date night" Michael says as he turns to looks at her as they turn to look at Sam and Jesse
"Sure, we'll babysit" Jesse says as him and Sam look back at them
"Yea it will be fun" Sam says as he looks back at them
"I think I'm going to enjoy them living close by" Fiona says as she looks at Michael before they turn back to look at them as Sam looks at his watch
"Jess it's getting pretty late" Sam says as he looks over at Jesse as they begin to get up
"Do you want me to give you a ride?" Michael says as he looks at them
"No, we'll be fine walking" Jesse says as him and Sam grab their jackets as Sam opens the door
"Yea it's nice to live within walking distance" Sam says as they begin to close the door "See you guys tomorrow"
"How is Charlie's project going?" Michael says as he looks over at Fiona
"Well he's through everyone all the way down to Ruth and Nate" Fiona says as she looks at him "We knew he was going to ask questions one day" she says looking at him "It just took a family project to do it"
"Yea I just thought we would have longer" Michael says as he begins to get up off the couch
"He's still awake" Fiona says as she looks at him "I figured that was a talk that you two needed to have"
"Yea I got it" Michael says as he gets ready to head up the stairs as Fiona continues to look at him
Charlie is sitting in his bed looking at pictures as he hears a knock on the door as Michael pokes his head in "Hey Buddy"
"Hey Uncle Mike" Charlie says as Michael walks over as he lays down on the bed on the other side as he looks over at Charlie as he looks over at the pictures
"I remember that day" Michael says as he looks at the Charlie has in his hand of him and Nate when they were young "Your grandma wanted so badly to have some nice family pictures but none of us were having it" he says continuing to look at the picture "Till mom threatened us"
"So that's why it looks like forced smiles" Charlie says as he looks at him
"Yea" Michael says looking at him "But she wanted them so badly that we just sucked it up and put on the biggest smiles that we could" he says continuing to look at the pictures "Aunt Fi said you had some questions"
"It's just no one ever really talks about mom and dad" Charlie says as he looks over at Michael
"I guess I've just always tried to protect you as best I could" Michael says as he looks at him "But eventually your going to have questions" he says continuing to look at him "What exactly do you know?"
"Well I know how they both passed away" Charlie says as he looks at him "Dad was killed on a mission helping you and Mom overdosed" he says continuing to look at him "But what I'm more interested in knowing is who they were before all of that"
"Well I only met your Mom a handful of times" Michael says as he looks at him "Even when her and your dad were together she was barley ever around" he says continuing to look at him "But I could tell you some pretty good stuff about your Dad" he says as he smiles at Charlie
The next morning Fiona pokes her head around the corner into Charlie's room as Michael is asleep on the bed still in his clothes from the night before "Sweetie" Fiona says as she shakes his shoulder as Michael rolls over
"Huh" Michael says as he opens his eyes as he looks around before looking at her
"It's been a long time since I've woken you up in here" Fiona says as she looks at him
"Not since we first came here" Michael says as he looks at her
"When you didn't want to leave Charlie's side" Fiona says as Michael begins to sit up on the side of the bed as he rubs his head "How did the talk go?"
"It went okay, we talked till I guess we both fell asleep" Michael says as he looks at her "I just hope I'm doing what's right for him Fi"
"Hey, look at me" Fiona says as he looks at her "You're a great Uncle, and a great Dad, and a great Husband" she says smiling "And a pretty hot date for tonight" she says as Michael stands up "Come on let's go get some breakfast" she says leading him out of the room
Later that evening Michael and Sam are standing at the bottom of the stairs as Michael finishes buttoning his shirt "Sweetie are you ready, we have reservations at the restaurant"
"Coming" Fiona says as she stands up at the top of the stairs wearing a black dress with a slit in the side as Michael look up at her as she comes down the stairs
"I could get use to this date night thing" Michael says as she walks over to him as he pulls her in as they kiss
"So you have all the numbers right" Fiona says as she turns to look at Sam as Jesse walks in from the other room
"Yes we have the whole list" Jesse says holding up a long list "The number for the restaurant and theater"
"Numbers for pretty much all medical personal and first responders in the Castlerea area" Sam says as he looks at them
"We're vigilant Sam" Michael says as he looks at them
"Yea I'll say" Sam says as he looks at them "Don't worry we got this"
"I'm going to tell the kids goodbye" Fiona says as she goes into the living room
"We're going to take the charger" Michael says as he continues to look at Sam and Jesse "So you'll have Fi's car here with the car seats" he says continuing "If you want to get some of the kids energy out there's a park about 15 minutes away that we take them to some if you want to take them for a little while"
"Okay got it, every word" Jesse says as he looks at him as Fiona walks back in
"Now you two crazy kids go and have some fun" Sam says as Michael and Fiona begin to walk toward the door as Jesse opens it for them as the walk out before they close the door back behind them
"Huh who knew a former spy and IRA agent made" Jesse starts to say as Sam looks at him
"Paranoid parents" Sam says as he looks at him "I guess that tends to happen when you know all the bad things that could happen"
"We're not letting them out of our site are we" Jesse says as he looks at him
"Not a chance" Sam says as he looks at him "Because you're also a former spy and I'm a former seal and we also know all the bad things that can happen" he says continuing to look at him "But nothing is happening tonight"
"Because we're going to be having to much fun" Jesse says as he looks at him
"Oh yea" Sam says looking back at him "Hey kids are you ready to party" he says as him and Jesse walk back into the living room
That night Sam and Jesse hear moaning and groaning noises coming from the kitchen as they round the corner from the living room standing outside of the doorway "Sounds like there may be another Westen kid in pending"
"No just enjoying some ice cream" Fiona says as they turn the corner into the kitchen as Michael and Fiona are about halfway through a carton of ice cream
"We thought you were" Jesse says as they look at them
"Oh we know what you thought" Michael says as they look at them "But when you're a parent you about get equally excited about getting to eat things like ice cream in peace"
"Besides, we tried to do the other thing in the car" Fiona says as she smiles at Michael as he rubs his back
"Yea except I had the gear shift in my back the whole time" Michael says smiling back at her at they look at Sam and Jesse
"Just got a visual that I really didn't need" Jesse says looking at them "ever"
"Yea I'm never riding in the charger again" Sam says as they continue to look at them "On that note we're going to go"
"Hey before you go how were the kids?" Fiona says out the doorway as Sam and Jesse begin to walk back out of the kitchen
"They were fine" Jesse says back as he and Sam walk out shutting the door behind them
"That was fun" Fiona says as she looks over at Michael
"Yea" Michael says as he looks at her as he continues to rub his back "My back really is kind of sore though"
"Come on" Fiona says as they start to get up as she puts the ice cream back in the freezer "I'll give you a massage" she says as they walk out of the kitchen and up the stairs toward their room
