three years later*
Ember, Jayden, Phantom, and Evie walk in the courtyard, laughing and talking.
"Oh my God, did you hear about what Elisa Mio did during Potions?" Ember giggles.
"Wood played a great move at the Quidditch game, didn't he?" Phantom asks. Jayden nods.
"That was a bloody brilliant move." Ember's eyes float around. Then she sees a little boy and girl, the boy looking around five and the girl four, each holding a baby. Ember stops dead in her tracks. Jayden follows her gaze and then he stops. Evie and Phantom look at them confused.
"What's wrong?" Evie asks. Ember and Jayden run to the children. Phantom and Evie follow. Ember cups the boy's cheeks in her palms.
"Hey, baby, what's your name?" She sounded much older than fourteen. The boy starts crying, the baby in his arms wailing.
"Sean. This is my little sister, Simone. I don't know where my mommy or my daddy is." He looks at her. His eyes matched Jayden's perfectly. "I'm scared." She wipes his tears and rubs her thumb over his cheeks.
"Hey, I know you're scared. But we'll find out what happened to your mommy and daddy, okay?"
"Okay." He says. The baby keeps screaming. Ember gently takes Simone out of his arms and holds her. Jayden crouches in front of the little girl.
"Hi, I'm Jayden."
"I'm Darcy." She says. She looks around. "Do you know where my mommy and daddy are?"
"Afraid not." He sees a deep cut on her cheek. "How did you get that?"
"My daddy cut me because I dropped a cup." She says. Jayden purses his lips. He looks down at the baby, asleep in her arms.
"Who's this little guy?"
"This is my baby brother, Jack." She says. Jayden and Ember give each other a look. Ember holds out her hand.
"Come with us, please." Jayden takes Jack from Darcy and she takes his hand. Sean takes Ember's. Evie and Phantom's mouths hang open. They walk into the school, stares burning into their backs. They get to the eagle's statue.
"Lemon poison." Ember says. The statue twirls into itself. Phantom and Evie run up behind them.
"What the bloody h*ll is going on!?" Evie shouts. The babies start crying. Sean presses his face into Ember's leg and Darcy hugs Jayden's leg. They pick Darcy and Sean up with their free arms and walk up the stairs, Evie and Phantom follow, shell-shocked. Dumbledore looks at them in surprise.
"Mr. and Ms. Crawford. Ms. Fuller. Mr. Jones. What is it?"
"Malha had more children." Ember says. Dumbledore nods.
"I'll tell Hagrid to take them to Katherine and John." Jayden stands to his full height.
"We'll keep them."
"What?" Evie bursts out. Dumbledore nods.
"You'll have to take them to class and such."
"We're willing to do so, Headmaster." Ember says. Simone starts crying. Ember rocks her slightly. Dumbledore sighs.
"This is a huge burden for you two. Are you sure-"
"We're sure." Ember and Jayden interrupt.
"We shall move you six into a dormitory on the boys side. We have an empty one. I'll request for two bassinets to be moved into the room. And have baby formula and bottles brought up as well, along with clothes and other things."
"Thank you, Headmaster. Come on, little ones. Let's go to the infirmary." They walk out. Evie and Phantom followed, their mouths hanging. Darcy looks at Jayden.
"Are you our big brother?"
"I am." She points to Ember.
"Is she our big sister?"
"She is." He smiles at her. They walk into the infirmary. Madame Pomfrey gasps at the four kids.
"Who are these?"
"These are Darcy, Sean, Jack, and Simone Crawford. Our siblings." Ember says. Madame Pomfrey opens her mouth but clamps it shut. She leads them to a bed. She takes the babies from Ember and Jayden and inspect them. Evie grabs Ember's arm.
"You have siblings?"
"Yeah. Malha and Robert had more children." Madame Pomfrey hands the babies back to Ember. They stop crying and bury their pink faces into Ember's chest. Ember holds them tightly. Madame Pomfrey smiles and looks back at Ember.
"You can take them back. Good luck, Mr. and Ms. Crawford." Jayden nods and offers his hands to Darcy and Sean. They jump down and grasp his hand. Ember looks at Evie and Phantom.
"See you guys later."
"No, we're coming with you guys." Phantom protests. Jayden looks at Ember.
"They won't cause us harm."
"Fine." Ember says. They walk to the Gryffindor Common Room, ignoring the gasps and murmurs. Oliver Wood looks at Jayden.
"Your new dormitory is the last one on the left. The both of your things and the things Dumbledore requested."
"Thanks, Wood." Ember says kindly. He scampers off. They walk to the dormitory. Ember places Simone in one of the bassinets and Jack in the other. Sean and Darcy run to one of the four beds and crawl under the covers. Ember rubs her temples. Phantom pats her shoulder.
"You and Jayden will be fine at this."
"We're fourteen." Evie hugs Ember tightly.
"We'll be here to help, okay?" Jayden groans and throws himself onto the bed.
"This is crazy." Ember pulls away and lays down beside him. He faces her. She opens her arms and he hugs her tightly. Phantom coughs.
"We'll go." They walk out. Jayden leans his forehead in Ember's neck.
"This is crazy."
"It is. But it's gonna be okay. We can do this."
"We practically adopted four kids."
"We can do this."
