~We Are Perfect!~
"Good evening everyone and welcome to our "Saturday Night Show!" The veteran male host of the show greeted when they started filming. "How is everybody doing tonight? If you're asking me in return, I have to say I am in a good mood tonight. You wanna know why? I'll tell you anyway, because tonight's episode is very special. It's an all exclusive on an up-coming movie that everybody is looking forward to seeing this coming Friday, "I See You."
Everybody in the audience did a round of applause in excitement as the host announced who will be joining them tonight. "We have Murasame Taira, Kyoko-san, Tsuruga Ren and Director Jin!"
The mentioned celebrities came on stage one by one and waved to the crowd. They each settled on the seats prepared for them. "Welcome to the show guys. Before we begin, we have a tradition here that no matter how famous you are, you have to introduce and say something about yourself. Just like the first day of high school," the host informed them with a smile. "Since it's Kyoko-san's first time here and she's the only girl, we will let her go first."
"EH?!" Kyoko exclaimed in surprised. She heard a bit about introducing oneself on the show but she was caught off guard that she was to be the first. "I don't think I could. Everyone here are older than me. It would be rude to do so. Gomennasai!" She stood up and bowed sincerely.
That's Kyoko for you, Ren thought to himself with an amused smile.
"You're still too polite Kyoko-san," Murasame commented.
"There's no helping it then," the director started to stand up and introduced himself. "I am Director Jin. As you may have noticed I like directing thriller, action and horror movies. One of my hobbies is growing Bonsai plants. It's nice to meet you, minna-san"
"My name is Murasame taira. Right now, I am obsessed with Super Mario Go kart. I know it's a bit late but I only got time now and my favorite food now is Ren's bento which Kyoko-chan makes for this lucky dude. I hope we get along tonight."
"I am Tsuruga Ren," He slightly bowed his head. "And I try not to say that anymore because that made headlines recently as you all might have noticed." He scratched the side of his face as he smiled awkwardly. "My new hobby is making music. I greatly enjoy it and I am developing a healthy diet thanks to Kyoko-san. Pleasure to be here tonight."
Kyoko stood up with her back straight and gracefully performed a traditional bow as she greeted everybody, "Good evening. My name is Kyoko. I like cooking, sewing and recently I discovered new hobbies which are singing and making music as well as videos. Please take care of me."
"Alright, now that's out of the way, we can finally start and my first question is…" He paused for dramatic effect and looked at each of them one by one. "I am curious why you guys were resigned to do it when Kyoko-san said earlier about introducing first because you guys are older? You guys didn't even argue and insist just to be polite."
"Oh no." Director Jin faced palmed. "Tsuruga-san, please."
Ren quickly covered Kyoko's mouth with his hand as gently as he could.
"Wha-What's going on?" The host asked in confusion as he looked back and forth at the four of them.
Murasame was laughing at the scene and finally commented. "Wow! First question and you stepped on a land mine, host-san! I am really glad to be here tonight. This is exciting!"
"Is anybody going to explain this to us here on set who clearly has no idea what is going on?"
"We have enough of these two about professionalism and Sempai-and-kohai propriety. When they start going on about it on set, it's really hard to get them to shut up about it. Please don't start." Director Jin sighed.
"We're really sorry for all the trouble we gave you." Kyoko and Ren bowed there heads in their seat.
"Heee... I didn't know too much professionalism of these two could be a problem. Just another of Tsuruga-san's side that Kyoko-san has discovered for us." The Host concluded. "Now, I want to ask about this movie you guys are promoting tonight. This is kind of exciting since Tsuruga-san and Murasame-san's role has been reversed from the movie BJ."
"All I can say is, I can't be as scary as Cain Heel off set as he could be." Murasame commented.
"Well, it was a nice change not to be hated or have everybody scared stiff of you." Ren laughed.
"So Director Jin, can you give us a synopsis of this movie?"
"Well, why don't we just watch this new trailer we put together for this show?"
Everyone looked at the huge screen on the side of the stage and watched the trailer. The audience was amazed and was scared at the same time.
"Looks thrilling!" The host commented. "I don't think you guys need to promote it. I bet everyone here and those who are watching are ready to watch that movie right now. Right?" He gestured to the audience who agreed with him enthusiastically.
"So, let's talk about you guys." He beamed at them. "In one word, how would you describe each other? Let's start with the director."
"Hmmm…" Director Jin hummed as he thought. "Taira is Hizuri-fan addict that's for sure." He chuckled and everyone joined in. "I discovered that Ren can be childish, seriously. I know you said it was just one word but my description of Kyoko has to be Yamato Nadeshiko."
"I know, right?" Taira agreed. "Okay, me next. Director Jin is a hardworker. Ren here can be mischievous and Kyoko is a god-send when it comes to cooking."
"I really need to get a taste of that cooking." The host commented and turned to smirk at Ren. "Mr. Childish Mischevous, your turn. Isn't it nice to have an in on what goes on behind the scenes?" He gestured to the audience.
"Director Jin is amazing. Taira is fun and Kyoko-chan is oblivious."
"Oblivious?" Kyoko next to him asked in protest.
"Naive, then?" He teased, looking at her with a grin. Everyone let out a laugh at that.
"Okay, it's my turn and I have to say Director Jin is a fantastic director. Murasame-san is like a brother and Tsuruga-san I would say is a bully."
"Bully? When have I bullied you?"
"Just a few minutes ago!" Kyoko exclaimed incredulously.
"What? I do admit I deeply enjoy teasing you. But I personally don't think anybody can bully you. On the other hand, you always bully me into eating." Ren replied.
"You are the only person I know, Tsuruga-san, who has to be bullied to eat his food."
"Or any food for that matter." Taira chimed in.
"See, I'm not the only one who thinks so." Kyoko said triumphantly.
"Hai, hai! It's my fault. Gomenasai…" Ren hung his head like a kid caught doing something naughty and unconsciously pouted.
"One yes is enough." Kyoko berated some more.
The director and Murasame laughed at the defeated Ren. The audience awwed at the cute pouting Ren. The host's eyebrows shoot up in surprise.
"Wow… Are they always like this, director? I bet it's fun at the set."
"Pretty much. Yeah."
"Oh, you guys, I'm already itching to buy the DVD for the movie to watch the bloopers and Behind the scenes cut." The host sighed and then suddenly clapped his hands together. "Now, we keep the ball rolling and proceed to our talent show portion. Everyone who comes in this show has to show off their talent. It's not called Saturday Night Show for nothing!"
"Okay, Director Jin, you first because Kyoko-san is here." The host chuckled and the director joined in.
The director stood up and did a Wushu Performance. It was like a graceful dance but with quick movements at times for the martial arts moves. It was beautiful and everyone clapped.
"Yes, It's my turn. Oh, wait! Why am I going first? Ren is older! He was born early in the year." Taira complained.
"You did earlier! Don't break the cycle, man." Ren chuckled and smiled that boyish smile that got him in trouble. "Besides, I'm performing with Kyoko-san."
"Fine…" He hung his head. "Hit it!"
Music played and he started break dancing with a few popping moves, freezes, drops and he ended it with a head spin. Everyone cheered and clapped when he was done. He pumped his fist a few times as he went back to his seat. Ren high fived him before he sat down.
"Now, it's time for all we have been curious about. You two." The host gestured to the guitar on the side prepared for them. "Have you heard them live before?" he asked Taira and Director Jin and they shook their heads.
Ren stood up and took the guitar and went back to the couch. The director stood up and went at the other end, next to Taira. Ren sat where the director sat at the end of the couch and Kyoko scooted over to him to make enough room for all of them. Good thing the couch was huge.
Kyoko looked at Ren nervously like always before they perform in public. Ren smirked and said, "I believe it's my turn to pick." Kyoko groaned. "Ready?" he asked as he started playing the guitar.
Kyoko heard the first few notes and let out a laugh when she recognized the song. "You just had to pick that." She whispered as she closed her eyes and inhaled deeply before she started singing. Ren's smirk widened.
(Kyoko)
Made a wrong turn, once or twice
Dug my way out, blood and fire
Bad decisions, that's alright
Welcome to my silly life
She started slow, but in a clear voice. The first part of the song was a little hard for her because it reminded her of her past especially with Sho which she so desperately wanted to forget it ever happened. But it gets better after this first verse and she opened her eyes and the edge of her lip curled up a little a she belted out the next verse.
Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood
Miss "No way, it's all good", it didn't slow me down
Mistaken, always second guessing, underestimated
Look, I'm still around
Ren paused in playing the guitar for a second after she finished the second verse and she looked up at him. Their eyes connected and he continued and sang the chorus,as well as the third and fourth verse of the song. He really liked singing this chorus to her because it was completely true and he desperately wished she would believe it. He would sing it to her for as many times as he could until she believed him.
(Ren)
Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever ever feel
Like you're less than, less than perfect
Pretty pretty please, if you ever, ever feel like you're nothing
You are perfect to me!
These next verses really hit home for him. It's like he was telling these words to his real self, but to other people it would seem like he was saying or singing them to her which made sense too. Kyoko, though, totally gets him and sees through him that it was both scary and comforting at the same time. Scary because he has this fear that she would not accept him if she sees through all of him for what he really was. A coward.
You're so mean, when you talk,
about yourself you were wrong
Change the voices in your head,
make them like you instead
So complicated, look how big, you'll make it
Filled with so much hatred, such a tired game
It's enough! I've done all I can think of
Chased down all my demons, I've seen you do the same
Kyoko took over the second chorus. It was like they were comforting and encouraging one another. It was a sweet song to sing to each other.
Oh, pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel
Like you're less than, less than perfect
Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel like you're nothing
You are perfect to me
Ren started rapping as always in all of their song. He just can't help it and Kyoko always enjoys it. It's very different to his Tsuruga Ren persona which meant that it was the real him enjoying it.
The whole world's scared, so I swallow the fear
The only thing I should be drinking is an ice cold beer
So cool and limed and we try, try, try
But we try too hard and its a waste of my time
Done looking for the critics 'cause there everywhere
They don't like my jeans, they don't get your hair
Exchange ourselves and we do it all the time
Why do we do that, why do I do that?
Why do I do that?
Kyoko shrugged like the American way Ren always did as an answer to that question and then she belted out the last chorus with Ren singing second voice. They blended perfectly as they sang all the way to the last verse, "~You are perfect to me~."
The room came alive after that intimate little performance. The audience shouted and applauded, some even stood up. All three people on stage with them looked very impressed at them.
"Wow!" The host finally commented after the audience quieted down. "I can't believe it! I mean, how'd you do that?" His hands gestured at them in a circular motion. "That was live! But it sounded like a recording! The guitar, the singing and rapping? Kyoko-san's voice was angelic. It was just perfect! Just what your song said. Unbelievable!"
"I know! You are perfect, Kyoko-chan!" Taira piped in.
Kyoko blushed at their compliments and Ren beamed feeling so proud of her. He was ecstatic. It felt like it was another step forward in leaving their past behind, especially her past with Sho. She was climbing the top, fulfilling her new dreams and leaving him behind.
She has always been this perfect, Shoutaro, Ren thought. You were just too blinded by yourself to see it.
