Hey y'all! Before I start my story, I would like to kind of explain my mindset coming into this story.

I've always been a big Teen Titans fan since the original cartoon on CNT came out. After reading comics and doing vast fandom research as I always do, something that always bothered me was that the show never got to the point of exploring Beast Boy and who he was. Let's be frank, Beast Boy has a lot of shit going on. And he covers it SO well. While all the other characters in the show have a certain type of acknowledgement to where they came from, Beast Boy only acknowledges the Doom Patrol, only a part of his past. Eventually, it was gonna catch up to him.

This is how I think it would happen. I hope you enjoy it.

Disclaimer: I do not own Teen Titans.

He was in complete darkness. Nothing could be seen. He tried to yell, but he couldn't hear his own echo. He tried to run, but everywhere looked the same.

Then all of a sudden, all his animal forms appeared before him. Every animal he had ever shifted into in front of him surrounding him in a semicircle. Front and center was the form who caused him much pain.

A mongoose.

Behind the mongoose the Beast looked down upon him. His eyes turned red.

"Garfield Mark Logan," it said in a voice that made him shiver. "Answer the call."

"Answer the call," All the other animals repeated. "Answer the call" they chanted.

He felt himself itch uncontrollably. He couldn't shake the feeling that he had to run, to go as far as he could. But he couldn't, there was nowhere to go. It was too much to bear. Instinctually, he tilted his head back and roared.

"BEAST BOY!"

Beast Boy jolted up in his sleep. With laboured breathing and sweaty palms, he waited for his eyes to focus. He recognized he was on the bottom bunk of his bed. He let out a deep breath until he realized that there was banging on his door. He quickly got up and opened to see the faces of his concerned and frazzled teammates.

"Beast Boy, what's going on?" Robin asked quickly. "We heard you roar from your room.."

"Dudes, I'm fine. I-I must've ate too many sweets before bed. Just had a bit of an exciting dream and I was a lion, that's all." Beast Boy chuckled as he nonchalantly pushed their concerns aside.

Cyborg eyed him. "You sure Grass Stain? That didn't sound too playful to me."

Beast Boy reassured him. "Of course I'm sure Cy. Why wouldn't I be?"

Cyborg glared. Raven interjected. "For starters, you've been tired during training and sleeping during the day more. And now you're roaring at 2:47am. Obviously something is keeping you from sleeping."

Beast Boy balled up his fists. "Like I said, I'm fine. I've just been reading more comics than usual at night. I'll cut back. Now if you'll let me, I'll be going back to sleep."

As he went to close his door, Robin started to talk in what the team dubbed his "I-mean- business" tone. "Beast Boy…"

"I said I was fine! Shit! If I'm fine then I'm fine! I'm not a fucking KID!" Beast Boy yells.

A pregnant pause hits after his exclamation. Starfire steps up.

"Friend Garfield" Starfire says as Gar winces at the mention of his full name. "We apologize for making you feel the uncomfortable. But you must know that we come with the best of intentions as you have been acting very unusual. If you say you are well, then we will take your word for it." she says as she looks back at the others, making sure they agree to her terms with a hint of green light in her eyes. Cyborg and Robin nod vigorously while Raven rolls her eyes.

Starfire places a hand on his shoulder, facing him again. "But, if we see actions that concern us again, do not be angered with another confrontation. You understand, yes?"

Gar looks up at her and the others, now feeling guilty. "Yes. I'm sorry for the outburst Kori." He looks up to face the others. "Victor, Dick, Raven." They all nodded back in acceptance as Gar turned back around and bid them a good night as the door closed. Victor, Dick, and Kori walked back to the elevator into their rooms on another floor. Raven looked at his door a bit before sighing and walking back into her own room down the hall.

Back in his own room, Garfield Logan sighed as he looked at himself in the mirror. "Keep it together Gar." He trudged back into his bed hoping that he'll get a good night's rest.

As he drifted up to what he hoped would be a dreamless sleep, he heard a soft whisper in his ear and the smell of vanilla tickled his nose. "Return to it, seek it. Answer the call."
