Andrew Spencer had been arrested for kidnapping, breaking and entering, and assault.
Grell was more than happy to testify against him. She was more grateful to have never had the chance to add more dire charges. All she wanted to do was go back to a normal life.
Even with all that happened, she refused to stop becoming a singer. Her heart, mind, and money were all invested into it.
Eric and William had refused to let her go anywhere by herself. As much as she appreciated the worry, she hated not having the freedom she had before.
She left her bathroom, drying her hair out with a towel. The steamy fog leaking out of the door behind her. William was seated on her couch flipping through the newspaper trying to find an interesting article to read.
She sighed looking over at him. "I can be alone in my own house for a day. You've change the locks and everything."
He glanced up at her setting his papers down. "I know. I just don't know about if he has a partner or, someone else to come get you."
She was frustrated looking at her front door. It had extra locks now to make sure her flat was secure. "I can handle a shower, William."
"I don't want someone else coming to take you."
She crossed her arms pressing her teeth tightly together. "Do you understand that this is the first time I've had something like this happen? The worst I had experienced up to this point was some girls in primary telling me redheads can't find cute boyfriends."
"This won't be the only time. You think singers don't deal with things like this?"
"Well-"
"The more famous you become, the more it happens. You have to get used to it if you want to deal with kind of a career."
She moved towards her kitchen getting a bit more annoyed with the situation. She made herself some coffee having her cats tangling around her legs. She pet them both enjoying their company.
She took a seat at her table flipping through her phone from some cute outfits to buy. She stopped remembering the dress gifted to her by her dearest Alan.
"I'll be back."
William quickly stood up fixing his shirt. "Where are we going?"
"I'm going to get changed into a dress to try it out. I'm not leaving the flat you worry wart."
He groaned taking a seat back down. He was happy for the redhead being safe but, he was getting annoyed with her constant need to be alone.
Grell locked the door behind her stripping down to try out the gown. She slipped it on feeing it hug onto her form.
She quickly stepped in front of the mirror looking at herself. She gasped seeing how sexy it was. Her body looked delicious as she twirled to get a glance from every angle.
"I look damn near impossible to resist. I need to send a thank you card."
She walked into the living room striking her best pose. "What do you think William?"
He looked up at her with his eyes wide. "Who have you such a gown?"
"Oh, you do love it! Alan got it for me as a going away present."
He picked his jaw up from the floor getting out of his seat. "Do you plan to wear that on your be debut?"
"Of course. Why wouldn't I?"
He stared at her with his hands moving trying to figure out what to say. "It's so... it's very..."
"Sexy?"
"Obviously. It shows off a lot."
She looked at it strolling towards him. "That's the point. It's eye catching."
"Are you sure that's what you want?"
"Of course. I want my debut to be remembered. Even if I become a one hit wonder." She spoke softly dreading such a fate.
"Why would you say that?"
"Say what?"
"That you would become a one hit wonder and fall into obscurity?"
She looked up at him putting his face into her hands. "I'm being realistic."
"Not with a voice like yours."
He leaned down capturing her lips with his. She closed her eyes enjoying it. He pulled away looking down at with a soft smile.
She looked at him getting a worried feeling. "William...would you ever want to begin a relationship with me?"
He blinked looking down at her. "A serious relationship?"
"Of course. What else would I mean?"
He hesitated thinking of an answer. She groaned pulling away from him. "Forget I asked."
"Grell..."
She went to room changing into some house clothes tying her hair up into a ponytail. She came back out looking at him. "I'll try that out another time."
"I think it looked lovely but, very sexual."
"You say that like it's a bad thing."
He sighed knowing she would be a bit offended. "I meant as, it might be a bit much for something like a debut."
She looked at him fixing her glasses. "I think I should be able to express myself the way I think looks good."
"Think of it as a bit of advice."
"Okay." She moved passed him going to her kitchen. Both of her babies crossing in between her legs demanding attention.
"They seem to hate being apart from you."
"That's because, they love me as much as I love them. Don't you feel the same with your birds?"
"Of course. I just, didn't know cats could be that nice and affectionate."
She looked at him confused on his statement. "What do you mean? Did you think all cats were mean, selfish, and always hungry?"
William kept quiet for a moment, not sure how to respond to her. "Something like that."
"Rude." she said playfully. "They'll make sure to remember that."
He grunted going back to his spot in the living room. She rolled her eyes leaning on her archway. "Do you plan to stay for lunch or dinner?"
"I plan to stay until you go to sleep. Hopefully Eric will be here by then, I hope."
She moved to the front door grabbing the handle. "William, I'm going to have to ask you leave. I'd love your company but, I will not be treated like a child."
William stood up staring at her.
"I would like my freedom now that Spencer is gone to jail. I want to spend a couple of days alone. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll be able to feed myself."
William was surprised by her change in attitude. "Are you certain?"
"Of course. I think this is all overwhelming."
He nodded grabbing his things. "I'm sorry for being a bother."
"It's not about being a bother, Will. It's about being able to do things in my home."
He stood in front of her lowering his head to kiss her brow. "I'm really sorry for being pushy. We just worry about your well being."
She felt awful throwing him out as he left. She closed and locked the door behind him throwing herself onto her couch.
The two cats came running meowing loudly as they took their place around her. "My sweet babies. You know when I feel bad, don't you?"
She pet them trying her best to relax and move away from the ideas of being surrounded by prying eyes.
She left her cats to be as they slept taking the time to sneak away to call the only person she could during times like this.
"Hello?"
"Hello, darling?"
Alan smiled listening to her voice. "I'm so glad to hear from you."
"That makes two of us my dear. How's the show without me?"
He laughed turning his head to grab the kettle off the stove. "It's been different. Our regulars missing you something fierce."
"Glad to hear it. I really need to talk with you darling. You've always been my best friend and advice giver."
Alan smiled softly feeling his heart swell. "You're the best at making me feel like a school girl." He chuckled hearing her laugh.
"You've always been the most amazing man I have to flatter me. I do have to ask you for advice."
"Alright. Tell me your woes."
"I have feelings for two men. I've slept with them too." She chewed on her bottom lip becoming so self conscious.
"Glad to know you're having a better time than me." he joked.
"I'm being serious." she said puffing our her cheeks. "I think I'm in love with both of them but, I think they only want me for sex."
He got quiet stirring his sugar in his cup. "Have you talk to them about it?"
"One of them. He...he didn't give me an answer."
"You haven't asked the other one?"
"No... I should call and ask."
Alan got quiet thinking about it. "Maybe you should give yourself some time to think about things? Do you really need a man right now?"
"What?"
"Do you need a man right now? Is it a wise choice with your career just lifting off the ground?"
Grell hadn't been thinking about her career. She was stunned have been reminded of this important part of her life. "Alan..."
"Yes?"
"I think you're right darling. This has been more than I think I can deal with right now."
"I thought you'd see it my way. You need to put yourself first in your relationships. Talk to the other man and make a choice. Either one of them or you."
Grell paused looking at herself in the mirror. "Thanks Alan. I'll call you back when I have all the details about this. Love you darling."
He chuckled drinking his tea. "Anytime. I love you too Grell. If you pick one, set me up with the other okay?"
"I will darling. Thank you for everything."
She hung up the phone taking a seat at her vanity. She looked at herself trying to imagine herself with each man. Would they actually care about her needed to succeed with her career?
Grell made it to her work building with no problems. Her mind still wondering about what to say to Eric.
"Good morning!"
She stopped in her tracks looking for the voice that called her. She spotted Eric giving a faint smile and a wave. "Good morning."
"Glad to see you made it okay. Will told me you threw him out. I though it was best if I didn't show up in case you came at me with a bat."
"Oh, sorry about that. I just need some time to myself."
He moved beside her walking out into the halls of the studio. "Sounds like you really needed some time. It's been heavy for all of us."
"Yeah...Eric...can I speak to you in private?"
"Yeah, what's going on?"
He looked around leading them both into their office. He took a seat looking up at her from his desk. "Talk to me."
She took the seat across from him taking in a deep breath. "I wanted to asked a serious question."
He laced his hands placing them in his lap. "Okay. What's on your mind?"
"Do you want an actual relationship?"
Eric has no clue on how to respond. He blinked a few times finally opening his mouth. "In what way?"
"In a romantic sense. I want to know if it was just sex or, is it going to be a real thing?"
Eric sat in his chair giving her question time to settle in his mind. "I'm not so sure, Grell."
She stared at him unsure of what to say. She got out of her seat moving towards the door. Her lips pressed tightly together trying to hold back her thoughts from letting anything slip from her lips.
"Grell? Where are you going?"
"I need to go. I need some time to think."
She quickly exited his office almost crashing into William. "Oh Will, I'm so sorry!"
"It's fine."
He looked up seeing the way their faces looked. Grell looked as if she was going to begin her waterworks. Eric looked as if he was trying to control a bad situation.
"Is everything okay?"
"It's personal, William." Eric replied with uncertainty.
"It's okay, Eric. He's involved." Grell looked at them both dragging them back into Eric's office. She shut the door behind her gazing at the two men. "I haven't been fair to either of you. I've slept with you both and have feelings for you both as well." Her lips felt like they were drying out as she spoke.
The two men looked at each other, unsure of what to say. They turned their attention back to her letting her continue to speak.
"I don't want to hurt either of you. I just want to know what you both have to say about it."
William moved closer to her seeming to feeling a bit hurt he wasn't the only one. And yet, he knew it. From the night at the show when he first say her. "I'm not sure what I want, Grell."
"Me either." Eric responded.
She gave a small nod glancing between them both. "If that's the case, I need some time to think. I need to know what's best for me. For my career."
With that, she walked out into the hall. Her mind set on being her best version of herself.
