Must Be True Love
Today Jade decided she wanted to take me out on a date to Nozu. It's mostly an apology date because she was being extremely mean today. I know she has off days sometimes, but why does she always have to take it out on me? Even while we're dating! I can understand it, maybe, if we weren't dating, but since we're dating now I thought to stop.
Well, I stand corrected.
So now we are sitting at Nozu in an awkward silence. I'm still upset about her behavior. I think she's still grumpy, but also guilty. Of course, she wouldn't show that guilt until a very necessary situation so she's acting more grumpy than guilty at the moment. This apology is going great.
I sighed and turned to face Jade. She looks really irritated at the moment. She must've felt my staring and turned to face me back.
"Where's our damn food?" She asked me.
"Why would I know?" I replied with a shrug. She turned away from me again and scoffed. She looked around the restaurant for a worker. What's the point of this date if she isn't going to try? She was the one who suggested it!
She finally landed her eyes on an employee and yelled at them to hurry up with our food or she'd take extreme measures. She made her even clearer by grabbing her scissors out of her boot with a menacing look on her face. He seemed to get the message because his eyes bulged out of his head and he nodded vigorously in our direction.
I rolled my eyes at her antics and faced away from the sight.
"You don't have to be so demanding." I murmured. She whipped her head around so fast that she must've gotten whiplash.
"Excuse me?" I turned around to see her pierced eyebrow raised.
"Nothing, forget about it." I told her with a wave of my hand. She glared at me.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" She said, getting louder by the word.
"You sound like Cat." I remarked with a smirk. She growled at me and I just shrugged and turned back around so I didn't have to face her glare. Well, that didn't last long because she forcefully whipped me back to her.
"You don't have to be a bitch. I'm taking you out on this apology date-"
"Yeah, seems to be working great for you. I really hear the sincerity in your voice." I said, sarcasm dripping off of every word.
"Well you haven't even given me a chance!" Jade argued, flinging her arms out dramatically with an exasperated look.
"Um, you haven't even tried." I stated in a matter of fact tone.
"What do you mean? I took you out after all!" Jade exclaimed in a very loud voice. Everyone in the restaurant is now looking our way.
"Are you not even checking yourself? You've been ganky this entire time! It's either you're not even trying to apologize because of your enormous ego or you have no idea what the meaning of 'apology' is!" I shouted matching her volume.
"You know I hate it when people call me a gank!" She told me pointing an accusing finger toward me.
"Well at this moment it's true! I'm sorry you don't like it, but right now you're acting like one!"
Jade scoffed in my direction and just turned away from me again.
My anger was bubbling up inside of me. "Jade! You cannot just turn around and tune out this conversation! I'm just trying to tell you what you're doing is not a way to give me an apology! You've been mean to me this whole day and I don't appreciate it. I don't get why you always take it out on me. It isn't fair!"
She still was not acknowledging me and I huffed in annoyance. I got up from my seat and walked over to the DJ's booth. As I was walking away I checked behind me to see if Jade turned around. She didn't.
I continued my walk to the DJ and once I was there I greeted him.
"Hi!" I said in my normal cheerful voice.
"Sup! You want me to lay down some tunes for some karaoke or are you here for a request?" He asked me.
"I'd like to do some karaoke please." I told the DJ. He smiled at me and gave me some finger guns.
"You got it! What song?"
I turned back to look at Jade still turned around. I faced the DJ once again and told him the song. He gave me another warm smile and nodded. He looked over in the direction I was looking a moment ago and smirked with a shake of his head.
He took one of the microphone and turned it on. "Hello Nozu! Please put your hands together for..." he turned the microphone off and asked for my name.
"Tori Vega." I told the DJ.
The microphone was turned back on and he announced, "Tori Vega!"
Everyone clapped and I looked at Jade to see she was actually turned around with a questioning look on her face.
"She will be singing some karaoke tonight! The stage is yours Ms. Vega!"
I smiled gratefully at him and took the microphone. I took a couple of deep breath and then nodded at him to start the music.
I stared at Jade when I sang the first line.
"Sometimes I hate every single stupid word you say
Sometimes I wanna slap you in your whole face"
I stepped away from the DJ stand and started walking around the restaurant while everyone was watching me.
"There's no one quite like you, you push all my buttons down
I know life would suck without you"
I smirked at her and faced away from her and to some people sitting at there tables.
"At the same time, I wanna hug you
I wanna wrap my hands around your neck
You're an asshole but I love you"
I turned back to her and made sure she got what I was saying.
"And you make me so mad, I ask myself
Why I'm still here, or where could I go
You're the only love I've ever known
But I hate you, I really hate you
So much I think it must be
True love, true love
It must be true love
Nothin' else can break my heart like
True love, true love
It must be true love
No one else can break my heart like you
Whoa oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh"
I walked back to the DJ and wrapped my arms around him with a smile. It seems everyone is enjoying the song from my observations. Jade seems interested as well.
"Just once tried to wrap your little brain around my feelings
Just once please try no to be so mean"
I noticed the smirk on Jade as she scoffed at the lyric. I walked over to Jade as the next line came up.
"Repeat after me now R-O-M-A-N-C-E-E-E
Come on I'll say it slowly (Romance!)
You can do it babe"
She rolled her eyes at my antics with a small smile on her face. That smile melts my heart every time.
"At the same time, I wanna hug you
I wanna wrap my hands around your neck"
I did the gestures on her with a huge smile on my face.
"You're an asshole but I love you
And you make me so mad, I ask myself
Why I'm still here, or where could I go
You're the only love I've ever known
But I hate you, I really hate you"
I backed up from her and pointed my finger with that hand that didn't have the microphone in it at her.
"So much I think it must be
True love, true love
It must be true love
Nothin' else can break my heart like
True love, true love
It must be true love
No one else can break my heart like you
Whoa oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Think it must be love (I love you)
I think it must be love (I love you)"
I made it back to the DJ stand and sat down on the stool the performer is supposed to sit on.
"Why do you rub me up the wrong way?
Why do you say the things that you say?
Sometimes I wonder how we ever came to be
But without you I'm incomplete"
I looked at her with the biggest smile on my face as I sang the last part of the song.
"I think it must be
True love, it must be true love
It must be true love
Nothin' else can break my heart like
True love, true love
It must be true love
No one else can break my heart like you
Whoa oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
No one else can break my heart like you
Whoa oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
No one else can break my heart like you"
I sang the last part and once I did everyone in Nozu clapped for me. That didn't matter to me. The only thing I had my attention on at that moment was a Jade who was walking up to me slowly and a little nervously as well. That's very un-Jade-like.
I turned off the microphone and handed it back to the DJ. He gave me a smile and a wink as he nodded to Jade. I then walked up and met Jade in the middle.
"I'm sorry." She said and it actually sounded sincere. We are making progress!
"I know I take out my... issues on you sometimes. I'm just used to that's all. And I am sorry about that. I will try and work on it."
My biggest smile turned into and even bigger smile and I couldn't help myself as I wrapped my arms around Jade and gave her passionate kiss on the lips. As we pulled back from each other I heard clapping from all around us once again. We smiled at one another and then turned to the restaurant and took a childish bow.
I gave her a kiss on the cheek and we sat back down in our chairs once again. It seemed Jade got grumpy once again and I asked her why.
"We still don't have our damn food yet!"
I chuckled at her and laid myself against her. "I love you."
She smiled down at me and rested her head on top of mine. "I love you, too."
