The time has come...
Sundari, morning:
The couple stepped out of the gunship Maul was in and walked up to Bo-Katan. "You actually captured him. I'm impressed." she complimented while handing both of them their sabers. "That is what the Council wanted." the Togruta replied before the three made their way down the street.
"Still. You succeeded, where many have failed." the Mando said. "I've learned from the best, including you." Ahsoka said with a small smile as they stopped walking. The older seemed surprised before small forlorn look replaced it as she walked over the ledge and stared out over the city.
"I wish I was good at something, other than war." she said. "You could try painting." Revan joked and instead of receiving a glare in return like he was expecting, the woman face adopted a small smile.
"Your people need a new kind of leader." Ahsoka said as she walked up beside the Mando. "My sister tried that. But I never understood her idealism." the older woman replied as they watched clones and Night Owls help the civilians.
"Commander, General. I have the Council waiting." Rex informed them as he and two other troopers walked up to them. "And Master Skywalker? Were you able to contact him?" Ahsoka asked as she walked up to the commander.
"He was at the meeting when I left to get you." Rex replied as she looked at the ground. "Go on. I can handle this." Bo-Katan assured before earning a nod. "I'll catch up in a bit. I just need to talk to Ursa first." Revan said, earning a nod from Ahsoka before she left.
Revan walked towards his friend after following Bo-Katan. "Revan. I'm glad you're safe." she said. "Likewise." he replied before looking around then gesturing for her to follow. "There's something Ahsoka and I were talking about a little while ago that involves you." he explained as she gave him a curious look.
"What was it?" she asked. "We were wondering if you maybe wanted to be our son's godmother." he replied, earning a surprised look that soon morphed into a smile. "I would be honoured." she replied.
"Excellent. I'll go tell Ahsoka the good news." he said before turning to leave. "Wait." she called out. Revan stopped and turned back to face her. "Once you've handed Maul over to the Republic, come back here to. I might have a gift for my new godson." she said before he nodded. "Will do." he replied before taking his leave.
Revan, Rex and Ahsoka walked over to the Night Owls and clones standing to attention as Bo-Katan, Ursa and three other Mandos escorted Maul who was currently locked inside some kind of ancient capsule.
Ahsoka and Rex shared a look before Bo-Katan headed towards them and Rex took her escort spot. The couple closed the last few feet of distance as she neared them. "Impressive. I suspect even Maul couldn't get out of there." Ahsoka commented as the capsule and group passed by.
"A relic of a bygone era, we Mandalorians had reason to imprison you Force-wielding maniacs." the woman said, half teasing, half serious and with a small smirk. "I thought your sister outlawed such devices?" the younger woman asked, mirroring her smirk as two shock troopers escorted the capsule up the ramp and into the transport.
"She did. This is the last one." the Mando replied before Ahsoka walked in front of her. Bo-Katan moved her helmet to her left hand before holding her right out for a handshake. Ahsoka grabbed her arm. "Goodbye, Ahsoka Tano." the older woman said before Ahsoka nodded and let go of her arm.
"You as well, Revan." the Mando said after offering her hand to him to. After clasping arms Revan and Ahsoka made their way to the transport before the ramp was raised.
Space, Star Destroyer:
After stopping by their temporary room to check in on Anakin, the couple and clone commander made their way to the bridge and passed a few saluting clone officers as they walked up to the viewport just in time to see the ship enter hyperspace.
"Something on your mind?" Rex asked Ahsoka. "As a Jedi we were trained to be keepers of the peace, not soldiers. But all I've been since I was a Padawan, is a soldier." she explained softly.
"Well... I've known no other way. Gives us clones all mixed feelings about the war. Many people who should never happened. But without it, we clones would never exist." he said as his friends turned to face him.
"Well then perhaps some good has come from all of it. The Republic couldn't have asked for better soldiers, nor I a better friend." she replied with a soft smile that he returned. "Same here, bud." Revan said, wrapping one arm round Ahsoka's shoulders before the couple saluted him. Rex returned it before an officer addressed him.
"Commander Rex, the latest briefing has come in." an officer behind him said as Rex turned halfway. "Want to have a look? It might have an update on General Kenobi's efforts." the commander said to his friends.
"You go. I'm sure it's more good news." Ahsoka replied as Revan let go of her shoulders. Rex smiled one last time before heading towards the comm room. The couple turned back to the viewport once their friend left and watched the blue expanse of hyperspace.
A few minutes later, Revan suddenly felt a disturbance in the Force before noticing that his wife was sensing it too.
"Anakin..." she whispered after the vision was over. "Are you alright?" Revan asked in concern. "Somethings wrong with Anakin, come on." she replied urgently before they headed for the comm room.
"Rex. It's Anakin. I feel like something terrible has happened." she said to the clone before he suddenly dropped his helmet. "Rex?" she asked in concern as the two troopers guarding the door suddenly took aim at the couple. Revan's eyes widened behind his mask. 'Fuck! It's happening now!?'
"No! I'll do it." the clone commander said to the troopers as he turned around. "Rex, what's happening?" she asked in worry, taking a step forward before suddenly stopping as Rex aimed his blasters at them.
"Stay back!" he warned as his hands shook. "Find him... Find him... Fives... Find him! Fives!" he yelled before opening fire. Both ex-Jedi quickly ducked before tackling him into the holoprojecter.
The couple quickly hopped onto the projector before deflecting blaster fire from the two troopers. Once they were both dead, Ahsoka used the Force to close the door. "Rex!" she called out as he started to stand back up.
Unfortunately Jesse and four other troopers entered through the opposite door and opened fire on their former friends. Despite how small the projector was for two people to stand on it at the same time, the couple seemed to manage as they deflected blaster bolts.
Revan felt guilt hit him as he deflected one bolt back at a trooper that killed him instantly before noticing his wife directing into the ceiling above them. Having figured out what she was doing, the young man started helping and after a minute they jumped into the hole while using the smoke to cover their escape.
Revan quickly used the Force to knock out one of the shock troopers about execute Maul just as Ahsoka did the same with the other. "Don't make us regret this." she warned the Zabrak while pointing the tip of her one blade at his neck.
Her husband pressed a button on the side of the capsule and they watched as he fell to one knee. "You... You survived." he said, coughing a bit as he looked up at the couple in surprise. "Is this your doing? Choose your words carefully." she warned with a glare and while holding the blade at his neck.
"No, no. It was not my doing. I don't know what has occurred, but surely you have felt it. The voices crying out. The death." he said before she took a step back from him. "The clones turned against us. Even Rex. I don't know why. They just suddenly weren't themselves." she replied.
"Brilliant. Brilliant." Maul said with a small chuckle as the couple glared at him.
"I was not privy to my master's plan, but now... now I see it. He turned the Jedi's own army against them. Well you've done the right thing by coming to me. Only together can we survive this. Now if you will follow my lead." the Zabrak said, standing up before Ahsoka pointed her saber at him again.
"You don't understand. We're not here to team up with you. We need a diversion, and you're it. Now go cause some chaos, it's what your good at." the Togruta said with a glare before she and Revan exited the cell.
"Care to give me a fighting chance?" the renegade Sith asked as he exited the cell. "I'm not rooting for you. Now get going." she ordered. The two glared at each other for a moment before he left.
The couple waited for a group of clones to pass by before entering a droid room where a few astromechs were powered down. Once the door closed, Ahsoka moved to her old droid R7 before powering him up.
The droid beeped as Ahsoka gently shushed him. "R7. We need your help." she whispered before the droid beeped again. "I know. I know. Quiet." she urged quietly as the lights came on and two more droids turned on.
A C1 and R4 droid beeped at the two ex-Jedi. "I don't know, I don't know why the clones are doing this. But we might be able to do something about it." Ahsoka replied to their questioning.
The droids beeped some more. "You sure you want to help? It could be dangerous." she warned before they beeped again. "Okay, let's get started. R7. Patch into the central computer. Bring up every secure file on CT-5555." she told him before he plugged into the droid port and and projected the hologram file.
"Okay, Rex. What am I looking for?" she wondered with a frown as the files changed. After a few seconds, R7 suddenly projected a hologram of a Kaminoan recording.
"An independent investigation, confirmed that the clone trooper CT-5555 experienced a malfunction with his inhibitor chip. But the senate committee and the Jedi Council have accepted these findings. However a grievance report was filed by CT-7567." the recording said.
"R7, bring up that report." she said after the hologram disappeared. The droid beeped a reply. "It's sealed? Try Anakin's passcode 8-1-0-8." she said before he beeped again and this time projected a recording of Rex.
"I already know this report's gonna fall on deaf ears, but I owe it to Fives to record what I saw. I'm not sure I believe it myself, but... there's a possibility the inhibitor chips the Kaminoans put inside us, have a purpose that we don't yet fully understand." the recording explained.
"Revan, did you know about this?" Ahsoka asked as he shook his. "I was on a mission off planet at the time and only heard about Five's supposed mental breakdown from Skywalker when I got back." he replied.
Revan helped Ahsoka place Rex's unconscious body on the surgery table before she pressed a few button on the console attached to the end of it. "R7, run a scan. See if you can find the inhibitor chip the report talked about." she said as the droid plugged into the port on the side of the console.
Ahsoka pressed a few more buttons before a medical droid rolled over to the table and started scanning the clone's head. Revan looked at the small screen on the console's top left-hand corner to see a scan of Rex's brain.
"But the chip has to be there. Check again." Ahsoka said urgently after R7 beeped. Another minute passed before CH beeped. "How close are they?" she asked turning her attention to him before getting another beep in reply.
G-G, if they override the door controls, you have to seal them fast." she said to the R4 droid who beeped before rolling over to the droid port beside the door. "R7. Anything?" she asked before getting another beep.
Ahsoka moved away from the console, Ahsoka walked up to the left side of the bed before placing her hands on each side of Rex's head. "I am one with Force, and the Force is with me." she said quietly. As she continued reciting the Guardian's Mantra, Rex soon joined in even though he was unconscious.
Hearing a beep a second late, Revan looked at the console's small screen and saw that what she'd just done, managed to find the chip. "Ahsoka, we found it!" he said. Ahsoka looked at the bigger screen on the wall.
R7. Get him under, and remove that thing." she said as her husband moved away from the console let her use it again. "I don't know if it'll work, but if it doesn't we're dead anyway." she said after R7 beeped again.
Doing as she said, the droid activated the table controls and they watched as the clone entered the surgery chamber.
A few seconds passed as they heard the sounds from from the door before it short-circuited a bit. " Get ready on the door!" she warned G-G who moved to the door's back-up droid port.
Revan moved to stand beside his wife as they ignited their blades. Not a minute later, the door opened slowly before one clone got underneath to push it up as two more opened fire.
Just as both entered the room, Ahsoka quickly used a Force push to throw them out of the room and down the hallway. Unfortunately two more replaced them. Even as they deflected bolts and pushed clones out, more just kept replacing them before one got a lucky shot on Ahsoka's wrist, forcing her to drop her shoto.
"The door, G-G! The door!" she said urgently before three blue bolts suddenly flew past them, two hitting two clones shooting at them while the third hit the guy holding the door up.
Just as the door closed and started sealing it, the couple turned around to see Rex holding his smoking blasters with an anguished look on his face. "Rex? Are you okay?" Ahsoka asked gently as Revan sheathed his blades and Rex lowered his pistols.
"Yeah... Yeah, kid. I'm okay." he assured before holding his head where the new bandage was. The couple made their way over to him as he sat up. "Sorry for what happened earlier, I almost killed you both." he apologized.
"How widespread is this?" she asked, referring to what happened. "It's all of us. The entire Grand Army of the Republic has been ordered to hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights." he answered grimly before they saw the door being cut...
Man, that episode is really... deep. Just hits you in the feels...
