I do not own My Hero Academia

The character Akari is completely fictional and has been made up for the purpose of this story.
This story was written by me.

My Hero Academia - original by Kōhei Horikoshi

Her eyes dashed across the stark white piece of paper as her pencil wandered across the page, leaving a light trail of graphite behind whilst she sketched imagination into reality.

Akari, an aspiring mangaka, had recently been accepted to work alongside Horikoshi to work on My Hero Academia as his assistant, she had recently been asked to draw a depiction of herself as a hero with all the creative integrity she wanted. Chewing the end of her pencil she eventually came up with a sketch which she considered 'good enough' to ink up and add detail to.

She had decided to give 'herself' a quirk that allowed her to create whatever she wanted, biological or not, out of the ink that she could secrete out of her hands at will, of course, a quirk like that would have a drawback so she decided to let the drawback be a skin rash if she secreted too much ink and a headache from constantly having to think about what she wanted to create with it.

Her quirk wasn't going to be as simple as visualising what she wanted to make, so, she thought of making it similar to the way Momo creates her stuff with her quirks, she would need to know the density, length and width of what she wanted to create, if she wanted to create a human she would need to know all the organ systems as well as where each of the insides were placed (like the heart, lungs, stomach, kidneys etc).

As her dip-pen touched the surface of the paper, she felt a tingling feeling develop inside of her as she carefully drew the lineart of her character, she wrote off the soft tingling as excitement as she continued to let her hand dance on the paper as clean strokes were scattered across the page, working together to make one final piece. Satisfied with the looks she coloured it in, keeping the features of the character similar to her own, indicating it was meant to be her.

By the time she was finished it had been a few hours and she decided to call it a day and scanned her masterpiece with her printer and placed it in a file folder labelled 'My Hero Academia Related Scans'.

Turning off her laptop she settled down on her bed as a strange tingling sensation enveloped her, getting progressively worse and painful till it was similar to that of pins and needles, except it was all over her aching body.

Struggling to find peace, she forced herself to sleep as a light feeling enveloped her starting from her toes, travelling up to the tips of her short brunette hair as light filed her gaze and all went dark.

Akari PoV

It was like a light at the end of the tunnel had disappeared as I opened my eyes to find myself sitting on a bench with a sketchbook in hand, skeptical, I surveyed my surroundings only to find this wasn't where I lived or even where I last was before drifting off to sleep.

I hadn't been outside in a week due to a type of Novel Coronavirus causing havoc in the country and here I was, sitting on a bench surrounded by Sakura trees and that's when it hit me, this was the world of My Hero. Relaxing, I thought it was a dream since I had been getting quite stressed lately about getting stuff done in time and there had been an article I read talking about how you can sometimes dream of the stuff you are stressed about.

All was well until I felt something touch my arm, looking to my left, I saw a timid greenete looking intently at me as I horror filled my heart, this wasn't a dream, there was no way to feel anything in dreams so therefore if someone in my dream was able to poke me then this was indeed my reality.

Slightly panicking I move to my right to give some space for Midoriya to sit, recognising him since I had drawn him hundreds of times beforehand, not recognising him would be the equivalent to a crime.

As I looked at my features I recognised the white ribbon dress I had been drawing the day before, this was the character I had created as a depiction of myself.

My heart was pounding in my chest as my eyes danced around my surroundings, fear and anxiety prominent in my facial expression. I suddenly heard a small "Hey d-do you want to talk?" From my left as I made eye contact with Midoriya, he looked a bit worried and caressed my shoulder as his eyes diverted to look at my sketchbook, clearly looking for something to talk about without being too awkward.

Smiling, I mutter a quiet "Sure, why not?" Taking note of the fact he was analysing my sketchbook I gave it over to him, on it was a premade drawing of myself, the one I had drawn the day before.

A small smile stained his face as he analysed the drawing carefully, being sure to not bend the pristine paper. "Y-you know, your attention to detail is incredible, it's hard for people to draw theirselves with such accuracy, even your costume looks like one that would be worn by a hero!" He began muttering his thoughts aloud as a chuckled a bit at his 'nerdiness'. I let out a small sigh, "Well what can I say, I do aspire to be one after all, even though I am a bit old you know? Lets just say university and art studies kept me behind."

His eyes stared intently into mine as a large smile crept into his face and in moments he began jumping up and down in his seat as he took out a burnt journal of which I recognised as his 'Hero analysis for the Future No.13' journal. He began taking note of my appearance and attitude as well as potential quirks. He took a break and looked at me, "M-may I know what your quirk is? I-its just for education purposes I promise!" His form began shaking as he tried to mutter up an excuse.

"Well, I can secrete ink which I can manipulate to make whatever I desire, biological or not. How it works is that I need to know the density, width and height of what I'm making and a clear visual of it in my head. To make a human is a bit more labour intensive but in order to make one I need to know human anatomy (of which I know very well might I add) and how all organs function and all their positions, after that's clear I need to know the personality and looks of their person. To give them a quirk I need to think of what type of quirk to give them (emitter etc) and know how it works, I understand that it's quite complicated but hey, I think it would be useful. I can also cause damage to others by turning my ink into fire, ice, water or even cause it to explode, I can also flick at their skin to give it a light scratch since I view everything as a product of 'ink'. Drawbacks are skin rashes around where I secrete my ink and a headache after constant use."

As I made eye contact with Midoriya he was looking at me with wide eyes and an even bigger smile if that was even possible. "THATS THE BEST QUIRK I'VE EVER HEARD ABOUT!!! You NEED to apply to a hero school, no, you NEED TO APPLY TO UA!!!!"

He began mumbling possible ways I could become a hero as he noticed he was mumbling and immediately cut it out as I broke down into a laughing stock. Smiling at him I replied, "Perhaps, but isn't 21 a bit too old for the Hero course?"

His eyes immediately widened as he retorted "UA makes exceptions for those with incredible quirks to apply to the Hero course from ages 19-23! You are in the age range so of course you can get in! I-I mean I can vouch for you and introduce you to All Might and the other teachers at the school, speaking of which where do you stay, we might live near each other!"

I nervously chuckle as I avoid connecting my eyes with his, "I don't really have a place to stay, I just arrived today and I don't know what to do-" Midoriya cut me off "Stay with me!!! My mother say anything I'm sure of it, once she learns your intentions I'm sure she would let you stay for as long as required."

I felt him tug at my hand as he stood up to take me to his house. I reluctantly follow him as I told him "I don't want to be a nuisance..." of which he replied back with a reassuring "Hey it's fine, besides what's your name?" Gently smiling around him I look in front of me, determination glazing over my usual wise gaze, "Akari Airi."

As so we headed off to the distance towards his house talking about Hero Informatics, we ended up reviewing some philosophical arguments about the usage of Provisional Hero Liscences and also ended up expressing our individual opinions on those reviews.
