The following story is something I really came up with on the spot. This is only Chapter 1 and, right now, I'm assuming to write about 12 parts. Stay tuned :)
CHAPTER 1 Part 1: DENIAL
Future Narrator's Excerpt:
"HAVE YOU READ IT OR NOT?", Hermione finally yelled. Ron had been staring at her for about 7 minutes now. He gazed at her with a light smile as he noticed her beauty. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of dark brown with a light ringlet surrounded her pupils. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail and seemed softer than a million feathers. Startled by her yell, Ron fell back to real life. "Huh? What?", he prompted in confusion. Hermione looked at Ron irritably with one hand fidgeting and the other holding a book close to her. She began to rant about how, no matter how often she tries, Ron always seemed to be ignoring Hermione. Ron sat through and listened to the rant knowing that he had no hope of defending himself. Finally, Hermione wandered to the topic she'd asked him about a few minutes before. "So? Have you read this book or not? This time use your intellect and form some words, if you will.", she stated snarkily.
Narrator:
Ron was pacing back and forth as he broke out in nerves. His exams had finally arrived and he knew very well that he wasn't ready. Instead of studying, he had been planning a surprise for Hermione. He had been working to allow her to become an official editor in writing. Hermione loved to judge people in, well, many aspects. At the time, she was going through a writer's phase. With every chance she had, she would comment on another person's writing, essay, assignment, you name it. Although there were more important things to do, such as finding the last few horcruxes, Ron wasn't in the moment to look for them. He had been researching for hours to track down a wizard company that would allow a student to become a publisher. Using connections he had through his family, he finally found a company that allowed this. The company's head was Malcolm Anvil.
Finally, an announcement rang through the room. The exam was beginning in only a couple of hours and Ron hadn't done any work. He knew that he could turn to Hermione for help studying but didn't feel like dealing with the disappointment he'd see across her face. Besides, if she asked what he had been doing, he wouldn't exactly have a reasonable answer. After all, Hermione was particularly skilled at detecting liars. Ron decided to grab his books and sit in front of his desk. He had expected to automatically begin working but all he did was sit.
Future Ron's Excerpt:
Honestly, that was the worst day ever. It was the day I discovered a few things about myself.
First of all, I'm not quite sure why I didn't work. I should have, there's no doubt about that, but all I could think about was the gift I was going to give to Hermione. I kept imagining what her reaction would be. I knew that she would probably laugh and criticize me in some way. It's not that she hadn't appreciated the gift, it's just that she didn't want to lose her strong exterior. What I didn't realize at the moment was that my already red face was becoming even redder while I thought about her. It felt as though many tiny owls were flying inside my stomach. I couldn't quite pinpoint the feeling at the time.
However, I know now that I clearly fancied her.
Past Ron's Excerpt:
Bloody hell, why can't I just focus?! Cmon Ron, your books are right there, all you have to do it turn and start working. *sigh* I can't! I can't stop worrying about whether or not she'll hate my gift. Oh but I can't stop hoping that she loves it! She'll have that small smile on her face and her eyes will light up and -oh- I'm sure that she'll make some silly remark that makes her seem even smarter. Honestly, though, I do wish she was less insecure. She's already so intelligent and kind and witty and- she's just so perfect!
...
Wait a minute... no! No no no Ron snap out of it! I can't possible- like her? It's alright I can prevent this. All I have to do is stop thinking about her. That's pretty easy, right? Just stop thinking about her. Ok... I can do it... just... UGH I CAN'T! Great, my life is over, it's over, I have no future. Even if I did like her, WHICH I DON'T, she can't possibly like me back. Ha, if she liked me back I'd probably just- okay fine! I like her! There, happy?! Great now I'm literally talking to myself in my own head. Five minutes of liking Hermione and I've gone insane. It's okay, all I have to do is push this deep, DEEP inside of me. Fake it till' you make it, right? Hopefully. I'll just give her the gift tomorrow and ignore her after that for a while. Everything will be alright.
Narrator:
What Ron hadn't realized by this time was that his hours were already past. A loud siren rang as he felt ghosts rushing past him, all chatting loudly. Just like the very first day at Hogwarts, the corridors filled with students doing final reviews, chatting, and appearing extremely nervous. Ron had blanked out when he felt somebody grab him and pull. It was Harry. "Ron! Cmon! What are you doing standing there? It's the exams!", Harry exclaimed. Ron was suddenly rushed to the exam rooms and the room was booming with noise. Suddenly, Professor Snape gave a sharp look towards the room and everyone fell silent. It's as if he had brewed some potion to cause this. However, everybody knew that it was pure fear. "Quiet down, all of you. Today is the day where you take your mid-exams. If you've paid attention to my course and have, simply, the talent within you, you will pass with flying colors. If not, you shall fail. There is an anti-cheating spell placed on your quills. Your exam begins...", Snape spoke. Everyone exchanged nervous looks as several people took deep breaths. Ron peeked his head up to try and spot Hermione. She seemed surprisingly calm and her posture was perfect. "Now!", Snape prompted as everybody picked up their quills.
Noises of intense writing filled the room. As everyone else was quickly answering the questions, Ron's hand was shaking. He was stuck on the first problem, which was said to be the easiest. Finally, he peeked ahead to look at Hermione. After all, the anti-cheating spell wouldn't allow any cheating either way. As he looked towards Hermione, his mouth gaped open for she was already on her third page. He looked around and noticed that everyone had at least gotten to the second page. Meanwhile, there he was, stuck on his first problem. Ron began to daydream and his quill began to move in random directions. It skillfully filled up several dots and flipped his pages all while he was staring at nothing. Finally, Ron noticed what was happening. He was confused but didn't resist because, for some reason, the answers looked as though they had been answered accurately. Curious, he looked around to find a cause of this. It was then when he noticed Hermione chanting quietly with her lips barely moving. He noticed that he was on the same page as Hermione. Had she been giving him the answers? Why?
To Be Continued...
P.S. I will try to write as often as I can and it really depends on the recognition this story gets. Thank you for understanding :)
