Narrator:

Ron liked Hermione but he still wasn't sure if Hermione actually helped him. The bell rang for the test to end when Snape shouted for everyone to put their quills down. Ron frantically budged around to try and let go of his quill when he realized that his quill was already placed neatly next to his desk. Along with this, his paper was turned over and it appeared as though all of the questions were properly answered. Although he was somewhat relieved, Ron checked for Hermione's position. Just as he had thought, Hermione had her quill neatly placed next to her and her paper was turned over.

As soon as the exam had ended, Harry scooped Ron's hand and pulled him out of the room, knowing that Ron would have probably ended up freezing and standing there for hours. Once the two had reached the corridors, Harry just kept pulling. By this point, Ron had grown tired so he just let Harry pull him to whatever place they were going. "Harry, what are you doing? We need to meet back up at the corridors!", Ron stated. Harry, now appearing slightly nervous, responded, "I- I need to tell you something a bit personal." The two stood there for about 30 straight seconds without speaking when Hermione appeared from behind Ron. "Hello! How was your test?", she questioned. Ron noticed her looking particularly at him when asking this question. Ron said it went well and left it at that. He then headed for the corridors. Slightly irritated, Hermione followed him through the maze of people in the corridors. It was pretty difficult to spot him but redheads did stand out a bit more.

"What do you mean by it went well?", Hermione asked, knowing that she would soon begin interrogating him. Ron just shrugged to try and avoid the conversation. His face grew red and he tried to run but Hermione grabbed his arm this time. "Are you serious? I spent so long trying to find a forbidden spell that allows cheating and gave you test answers and you just- you don't even thank me?!", Hermione screamed louder than she could hear. The corridors fell silent when Draco Malfoy had suddenly disappeared. Out of no surprise, he returned with Professor Snape right behind him.

Efficient and furious, Snape slithered, "In my classroom... NOW! What are you all looking at? BACK TO CLASS!" "Yes sirs" echoed throughout the corridors as witches and wizards frantically hurried to their classes. However, not a single one of them stopped staring and Hermione and Ron.

Hermione's Excerpt:

The walk of shame! I, Hermione Granger, was walking the walk of shame. I couldn't believe Ron. Why couldn't he just thank me? Is it that difficult? I obviously knew that Ron was underprepared and expected him to not want to ask me for help so I spent all night finding a forbidden spell. My wand broke three times before one worked. Interestingly enough, I found a hand forbidden spell right after that repairs broken wands. I probably should have mentioned this to Harry but that wasn't what mattered.

I wanted to help Ron because I knew he'd need some help. I just wished that he didn't despise me. If he won't even ask his own friend for help, he clearly despised me. I couldn't stop commenting on how dumb this whole circumstance was. Even though Ron was kind and gentle and innocent- kind... and gentle... and oh so wonderful all of the time. I- I couldn't stay mad at him. I wouldn't.

Narrator:

Snape rushed in dramatically as he yelled at the two of them to return to their desks. "I- I don't understand. This isn't possible. How could you have cheated if my spell was cast?", Snape pondered. "Well-", Hermione was interrupted by Snape snapping at her to hush.

Snape's Excerpt:

It simply could not have been possible. My spell was cast with perfection and the only way to defeat it is by using a forbidden spell. Even I know that no young wizard or witch can successfully perform a forbidden spell. It was clear to me that Malfoy had lied but I didn't feel like taking out my anger on him. He was, after all, a pureblood. Wizards make mistakes every once in a while. I'm just astonished that Hermione could let anybody mistakenly believe this to be true about her. She must be punished. I also have no doubt that Potter was involved.

Narrator:

Get out, Ron. Hermione, go stand in the closet and do not leave the room, understood? I will get back to you. Right now, I must find that Potter...

Hermione:

It was so dark in there. I had no idea what I was doing in this so I decided to look around a bit. Of course, it was a closet, so there wasn't much to see. I had no idea Hogwarts even had closets. It seems odd depending that you wouldn't want to keep clothes in random areas throughout hogwarts. I checked inside a shelf and found a note there. It read, "Beware! Do not leave unless you are permitted. And do not tell anyone of what occurs within here..." I obviously became spooked and wanted to run as far from the closet as possible. Why couldn't I tell anyone? Did "anyone" include Dumbledore? I didn't want to become hurt in any way that day so I remained in the closet silently. I began to hear spooky noises when I realized that there was a ghost in the closet. They were scared, young, and without clothes. What could have possibly happened in that closet? It was about then when I heard footsteps walking up the corridors.

I backed up farther into the closet when a small box fell. I heard Snape running towards the closet and he quickly picked up the box. Finally, he swished around and locked the door. It was just him and me in a closet at that point. I began to feel weirdly nervous and awkward. Suddenly, it felt as though the closet became even colder. I could feel the freezing air brush my arm when Snape summoned a couch. "Sit down here, beside me.", he ordered. I sat, not out of personal preference but of fear. He began to talk in a much gentler tone, seeming kind and understanding. I still didn't quite understand what was happening. "You let somebody assume wrongly of you today, Hermione. You know much better than that. I will forgive this and allow Weasley to keep his score on one condition..." he continued. I knew I had to listen to whatever he wanted of me. I loved Ron and I couldn't let his points get docked because of my immature mistake. Suddenly, I felt Snape's hand on my thigh. His hand continued to travel up when I grabbed it, pushed him aside, and yelled, "What do you think you're doing?!" Startled, he pushed back and replaced his hand where it had been. "Don't make this more difficult for any of us..", he hissed. I quickly pushed him off the couch and ran towards the closet door. As I probably should have expected, it was locked shut. I continued to rattle the knob while trying to perform as many unlocking spells as I could. The spell cast on the door was a forbidden spell. In case of emergencies, I had already learned the forbidden spell to unlock it. While trying to recall the spell, Snape had already gotten up and was headed towards me. Quickly, I uttered as many spells as I could remember when, finally, I unlocked the door. As if by instinct, I bolted towards the crowded corridors.

Narrator:

Hermione ran as fast as her legs could carry her when she was stopped by Ron. He was nervously asking her what had happened in the closet, expecting to hear news about some sort of assignment. Hermione nodded at what he had said because she was scared that Ron would believe that what had happened was her fault. Honestly, Hermione had begun to believe this herself.
