"Okay." Evangeline breathed out looking around the kitchen pushing the thoughts of her father to the back of her mind. "This isn't so bad." She mumbled allowed feeling slight relief that the counters weren't as dirty as she had first thought when she had started the dishes. Grabbing another sponge from the drawer next to the sink she got started scrubbing the countertops eager to get at least the kitchen done before her lunch break. "Hey Robo-bird, get the hell out of my seat." Tony yelled suddenly from the living room causing the young girl to nearly jump out of her skin. "Hell no, I was here first." She faintly heard Sam shoot back at the billionaire. Evangeline rolled her eyes tossing the sponge down on the counter making her way into the living room crossing her arms over her chest as she looked at the two man-children. "What are you two going on about in here?" She asked raising an eyebrow at the two as they both shot their heads in her direction both looking equally annoyed at the other.
"Bird brain here won't get the hell out of my seat." Tony hissed glaring down at Sam from where he stood in front of him. "I was here first," Sam told her pouting up at her. "I could just clear off another spot on the couch." She offered, fighting the urge to laugh at these two grown men fighting like children in front of her. "Please," Tony begged before glaring down at Sam one last time. She smiled shaking her head at him before getting to work picking the clothes off the couch creating a pile to take to the laundry later on. "Whose clothes are these anyway?" She asked as she tossed the last article on the pile shocked at the amount that had been scattered on the couch.
"Those would be Clint's." Tony spoke after a moment of raking his eyes over the pile that now lay beside the coffee table. Evangeline's jaw dropped as she turned to look at him. "How does he have any clothes left, they're all here." She spoke her tone giving away her shock. "He buys new clothes." Sam spoke up the laugh clear in his voice though he was trying to hide it from the two people around him. "I wish I had the money to do that." She whispered before clearing her throat. "I'll go take these to the laundry room." She spoke gathering the large pile of clothes in her arms before leaving the room and heading toward the elevator. "It's on the tenth floor, first door on your left." Tony called out from behind her as she moved.
"Thank you." She called back as she pushed the button with her elbow hoping in when the elevator finally arrived. "How can one person dirty this sheer amount of clothing?" She asked herself as the doors closed in front of her settling to lean against the wall inside the elevator. "Jarvis, can you please take me to the tenth floor?" She said giving a quick glance to the ceiling. "Right away Miss. Evangeline." Jarvis's voice rang out from the ceiling before the elevator started moving. "Maybe I should just burn them." She joked aloud shaking her head trying to keep the pile in her arms far from her face. "I don't think that would make him change miss," Jarvis spoke up making Evangeline laugh. "I guess you're right." She muttered up at the ceiling as the doors in front of her slid open.
"Okay, let's get this over with." She whispered to herself as she walked down the hallway to the door at the end, simply labeled laundry. "Maybe this room will be clean enough, it doesn't seem like they do much laundry." She spoke to herself as she dropped the load in her arms onto the floor at her feet, before wrenching the door open her jaw-dropping at the sight in front of her. "Damn." She whined throwing her head back a scowl finding her face. 'I was so very wrong.' She thought to herself as she dropped her head back down, her eyes taking the entire room in. The large pile of laundry stood tall in the corner of the room underneath a laundry chute, the floor littered with what seemed to be empty bottles of detergent. "Lunch, then I'll deal with this mess." She muttered shaking her head as she scooted the pile on the floor into the room with her foot, closing the door behind her with a chuckle. "I see you found the very portal to hell." A male voice spoke up from behind her causing a small squeak of a surprise to fall from her lips as she turned to face the source of the voice. "I thought that was in the kitchen." Evangeline fired back with a nervous smile as she met the eyes of the tall long-haired and metal armed man in front of her. He was quiet for a moment before he finally let loose a chuckle. "I can agree that they're equally disgusting." He joked back setting the girls' nerves at ease.
"I'm Evangeline." She spoke up after a second of shared chuckles. "Bucky." He introduced offering the small girl his flesh hand shaking it firmly when she settled her hand in his. "You're the new girl that Pepper hired?" He asked as she slide her hand out of his and back to her side. "Yeah, that's me." She chuckled out running a hand through her hair. Bucky smiled and shook his head. "Starting with the hard chores on your first day, that's amendable." He commented. "Mr. Barnes I'm to inform you that Mr. Rogers needs you in the gym," Jarvis spoke up suddenly interrupting the conversation. "I better go before he sends out a search party." Bucky joked as he turned and started to walk away from her. "It was nice meeting you." He called over his shoulder as he turned the corner vanishing from sight. "You too," She called back with a laugh unsure if he even heard her.
Evangeline sighed casting one last scathing glare to the floor of the laundry room before she turned to head back toward the elevator. "Jarvis, can you take me down to the lobby please?" She asked as she pulled her phone from her pocket to check the time. "Of course Miss." He replied as the elevator started moving down. "Shall I inform the others of you leave?" He asked her after a moment of silence. Evangeline thought for a moment and shrugged to herself as she answered. "If anyone asks about me tell them I'm taking a twenty-minute lunch." She said aloud and the elevator came to a stop and the door slid open. "Where are you off to?" A voice asked breaking her away from her thoughts, Evangeline jumped startled as her eyes slide to the handsome man standing to the left of the elevator, her eyes roamed over him taking in his dark hair and beautiful bright green eyes, his lean and muscular body causing her brain to short circuit for a moment. "You okay?" He asked his face morphing into a look of concern as he watched her carefully.
Evangeline cleared her throat a blush rising to the surface of her cheeks. "Uh... Yeah, I'm okay; I'm taking my lunch break actually." She responded offering him a small smile in which he returned causing her heart to flutter in her chest. "I'll leave you to it then." He said moving past her, stepping into the elevator leaving her standing alone in front of the elevator as the doors slide shut. "Okay, Eva that's enough of making a fool of yourself today." She whispered to herself as she made her way to the main doors, her heart set on taking her lunch at her apartment with Jackson. Evangeline stopped on her way to her apartment building grabbing food for herself and her father's former friend.
"Eva." He called with a smile as she stepped through the entrance offering the girl a warm smile as she lifted the bags of food in the air for him to see. "Thought I would spend my lunch with you," She explained when she saw his questioning gaze. "Awe darling girl you didn't have to do that." He said gently taking the bag she was holding out for him to take. "Of course I did, you're my favorite person." She told him with a grin as she flopped down in the empty seat beside him. "I thought Sean was your favorite person?' He asked with a grin as he shot her a look earning a laugh from her. "He was, but he didn't fix chocolate chip pancakes for me this morning." She informed him with a smirk shoving a fry into her mouth. "That poor boy," He muttered with a shake of his head. "He should know better by now."
