Chapter 3
Echo froze before nodding. "Yes," she said to the young girl. "I'm going to be a mother soon."
Crystal perked up. "Is Elliott going to be a daddy then?" She asked.
"Yes, but...he doesn't know it yet," the water dragon admitted.
"You haven't told him yet?" Ambush asked gently.
Echo shook her head. "I...I don't really know how to tell him," she admitted.
Crystal looked curious. "Why?" She asked.
"Well...this is kind of something unexpected," the water dragon admitted.
The young ninja gave it some thought before getting an idea. "How long until your eggs hatch?" She asked.
"At least a few more days," was the answer.
"Maybe you can surprise Elliott by asking him to come and he can be there when the babies hatch."
"Hmm, that's not a bad idea," Ambush said with a smile. "I'm certain he'd want to be there when his children are born."
Echo gave it some thought and actually liked that idea. "I was thinking about waiting until they were born, but you're right," she said. "He'd want to be present for when it does happen."
"I bet Elliott will be happy to be a Daddy," Crystal said. "Are you happy to be a Mommy?"
"Yes," the water dragon said with a smile before looking at the Life Portal Master. "I just ask one thing of you two."
"Yes, Echo?" Ambush asked.
"Don't tell Elliott and please keep my eggs a secret," she said. "I don't want Kaos getting his hands on them."
Crystal nodded. "Don't worry, Echo. My lips are sealed," she promised.
"As are mine," Ambush promised.
Echo let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you," she said gratefully.
That night, as she lay by her eggs, she began to picture Elliott holding their children. "I wonder what they'll look like?" She thought to herself. "Perhaps they'll be dragons with his eyes and hair. Or have his shifting abilities and be one with both the water and dark elements."
She smiled at that. "I'll have to ask Blackout, Knightmare, Hood Sickle, Starcast, and Nightfall for some help when the kids learn their powers," she said. "Of course, myself and Elliott will teach them about the Water Element."
She then had another thought. "I hope they have wings like me too."
Rachel, who had been about to head home where Magna Charge was waiting for her with her children, paused when she heard Echo's voice and grew curious, moving towards her and finding her near a nest before her eyes widened as she knew what this mean, especially when she saw the eggs were the same color as the water dragon. She gently cleared her throat and approached.
Echo jumped about a mile before turning and sighing in relief when she saw it was only Rachel. "You scared me," she said.
"Sorry, Echo. That wasn't my intent," the Tech Portal Master said before looking curious. "You're going to be a Mom soon?"
The water dragon nodded before looking curious. "Did Crystal tell you?" She asked.
Rachel shook her head. "She didn't say a word to me," she said. "Does she know?"
"Yes," Echo said. "She stumbled upon my nest earlier with Ambush."
The blonde-haired girl nodded. "They won't say a word," she said. "Ambush knows how to keep a secret and Crystal never breaks a promise."
The water dragon smiled. "She's a good Portal Master," she said before sighing. "I just hope...Elliott will be okay with being a father."
"I'm sure he'll be thrilled," Rachel said with a smile. "He loves you, Echo. And he certainly won't leave you. That would be dishonorable and he holds honor in high regard."
"That he does," Echo agreed, knowing that Elliott held honor in the highest regard and wouldn't do anything to stain his honor or her honor. "I keep thinking about when the babies hatch, how they'll be so cute and jumping all over us happily."
"That'll be a cute sight," the Tech Portal Master said. "And if you ever need someone to babysit, Magna and I would be happy to do so."
"Thank you," the water dragon said gratefully. "And...please don't tell Elliott yet?"
"I won't say a word," Rachel promised.
The next morning...
Echo stretched as she woke up and smiled at seeing her eggs were still doing good and she then noted that she was in some sort of hut made of vines and flowers. She smiled, realizing Crystal must have created the hut and even left an open roof so the sun could still come in and warm the eggs. Grateful to the young girl for her thoughtfulness, she decided to go find her.
Crystal and Rachel were battling against Blastermind and Grim Creeper when Echo found them and she sat on a stone wall nearby to watch.
Rachel jumped to avoid a slow scythe swipe from Grim before activating her telekinesis and grabbing the scythe. Surprised, Grim held onto it before realizing his hands were stuck to the scythe, thanks to Rachel as she lifted him and the scythe up a bit into the air with a smile. He kicked a little, but saw he was really stuck.
Crystal was dodging Blastermind's telekinesis pretty good, trying to catch him in a flurry of vines, but he dodged them all, soon catching her and smiling. "Got you, little one," he said before pulling her closer and tickling her stomach, making her laugh and try to escape him.
Seeing this, Rachel decided to follow the Magic Trapper's lead and she looked at Grim, who gulped as he saw the mischievous look in her eyes before he began laughing as she tickled him to pieces.
Elliott heard the laughter and smiled at seeing the cute scene before seeing the water dragon he loved watching the four too. "Hello, beautiful," he said.
Having sensed him a moment before, she smiled and turned to him. "Hello, my handsome knight," she said. "Join me?"
He nodded and sat down beside her, chuckling. "Blastermind got Crystal and Rachel got Grim, huh?" He asked.
"Yes, but it looks like Crystal is about to turn the tables on her partner."
It was true. Crystal had turned and tickled him, making him laugh and fall into the vines she had called up and he was in stitches as she tickled his underarms and stomach. After a bit, the two sisters stopped their attacks and the Skylanders chuckled. "One of these days, I'll get you back, Rach," Grim said playfully.
"I'm sure you will," she said with a smile.
Blastermind laughed. "I certainly have a very mischievous partner," he said, making Crystal laugh.
"But you still love me, right?" She asked.
"Of course, young one," he said because he did truly love her as a friend.
Elliott chuckled. "The sisters are quite a pair," he said. "Crystal actually makes me wonder what it would be like for us to have kids."
Echo froze upon that, but recomposed herself quickly. "Really?" She asked curiously, but also jumping on the inside.
He smiled. "Yeah," he said before looking at her. "I would love to have kids with you someday, Echo. I mean that."
She smiled. We will soon, she thought to herself as she looked forward to the day after tomorrow, because that was the day the eggs would officially hatch.
