Fall of the Guardians

Those with Guardians, the manifestation of your self preservation, run into trouble non-stop. Luckily, their guardians help protect them, but they cannot protect their users from themselves. A young boy turned girl by another person's Guardian learns to use her own Guardian, but her own recklessness ends up killing her in the end.

Guardians, the manifestation of your self preservation, which give people earth shattering powers, at the cost of being emotionally expresive. This is because to obtain a Guardian, someone with a Guardian must cause one to feel an extreme amount of emotion. If someone with a Guardian, makes one without feel very sad or happy, they will gain a Guardian. Thus, in order to stop the spread of Guardiansto the entire world, those who have them try to go unnoticed, and let the world pass them by.

In Charlotte, North Carolina, two girls have only one goal, to kill each other.

Time fluctuates around the two girls, as they battle, both using their Guardians to stop life ending attacks. One girl with red streaks in her red hair, uses her Guardian, Stero Rewind, to travel back in time every time she gets hit, and dodge the attack. To the outside viewer, it looks like she hasn't been hit once. The other girl, a blond, uses her Guardian, Beat Skipper, to skip the time when she was hit making the illusion that no hit has ever landed on her. After a few minutes, the blond lands a hit, and knocks down her opponent. Wasting no time, the blond grabs a small metal wrist guard off of the red streaked girl. The blond then grabs a shin guard off her leg, and begins to fuse the two together. The red streaked girl slowly behind to stir, "wha-at, what's going on?" she says slowly, as though trying to sneak past her concussion.

The blond responds with a massive grin on her face, "You'll never guess Noel, I just won. You're not the best anymore and I'm going to prove it."

Noel looks shocked as desperation comes into her eyes, "Look Emma, I'm sorry about the things I said to you, but please, you can't do this! You have to stop!"

The smile vanished from Emma's face, "Oh why, so you can win again? well I'm not going to let it happen!" Insanity had crept into her eyes as she looked down at her brand new Guardian, a necklace with a single button in the middle.

Emma started laughing as Noel got to her feet, saying "Emma, you have to stop, you'll kill both of us!" Emma, still laughing, but now with tears in her eyes, looks up and says "It doesn't matter! I don't care that I'll die, I don't care what hell has for me, I just never want to lose to you again!" She presses the button on the necklace, and everything goes white.
