So this is my first Star Wars fic so please be nice! I thinking of this being a 3 part story but I'm not sure yet. Let me know what you think and please review!

Chapter 1

It was a cloudy day on D'Qar when Princess Everly Solo's ship touched down on the planet. There was something about the resistance base that she enjoyed watching as an outsider. Whilst the base was run and organised by her mother, Everly never spent much, if any time at all on it.

When she was 10, her mother whisked her away to Naboo to reside, away from the dangers of the world and the fast growing influence of the First Order. Everly knew the real threat that she was being protected from was her own brother. He singlehandedly in one night destroyed decades of work rebuilding the Jedi Order. Everly was luckily not there that night that resulted in the slaughter of countless force sensitive students and was the catalyst to her mother hiding her in plain sight on her grandmother's planet.

Her mother didn't like her visiting her often at the resistance base but Everly didn't care. She missed her mother and with her father travelling god knows where, she was the only constant family member left to spend time with. The loneliness on Naboo was most consuming.

Another reason to visit D'Qar was the handsome brown eyed pilot watching as she landed her transport ship.

The hustle and bustle of the base was at an all time high as she descended from her transporter, a guard on each side. Her white gown floated around her as she stepped down onto the floor of the hanger. Everly stopped and watched from afar as Poe Dameron was instructing the pilots under his command whilst side eyeing her. A brief smile reached her lips in happiness at laying eyes on him once again.

"Princess Solo, your mother is waiting for you in her quarters." A small woman instructed her kindly. Everly tore her eyes away from Poe for a moment as she acknowledged the woman's comment with a smile before following her slowly. Everly took once last look at Poe who was now watching her with an intense gaze before walking in the opposite direction.

Everly spent a few hours having tea and chatting with her mother. It was the usual reprimanding from her mother of travelling to the resistance base whilst tensions were running at an all time high with the First Order. Everly humoured her mother and revelled in spending time with her but her mind constantly went back to Poe Dameron. Everly excused herself to take a walk after such a long time sitting on her ship, hoping to catch sight of the handsome pilot. She sighed as she still couldn't spot him after 20 minutes of taking a lap around the base. She frowned in displeasure and started to return to her mother's quarters to say goodbye before returning to Naboo. As she was walking down an abandoned corridor a hand suddenly caught her arm and pulled her into a dark closet. She started to panic before she recognised the touch and smell of Poe.

"Poe! What the hell are you playing at?" Everly hissed in displeasure. She felt the vibrations through her hands of his chest move as he chuckled deeply before switching on a light in the closet so she could see his whiskey brown irises.

"Well I'm sorry princess but I couldn't get you alone any other way." Poe whispered back while running his hand gently down her back. Everly's breath hitched at his touch but tried to remain unfazed by his soft caresses.

"How many times have I told you to stop calling me that?" Everly glared at Poe who chuffed in amusement. Poe continued to run his hands down Everly's waist before pulling her towards him so there was little room between them.

"Not enough, Princess." Poe teased while nudging her head with his nose and inhaling the sweet familiar smell of his Everly.

"Stop that." Everly demanded, trying to remain strong whilst being this close to him again.

"Stop what?" Poe innocently whispered before he ducked his head down to meet her lips with his. Everly's protest didn't last long as she melted into the kiss and Poe's welcome arms.

They soon broke apart once they ran out of air but never let go of the other, happy just to revel in each other's arms, foreheads resting together. Poe nuzzled her nose before planting one last kiss on Everly's lips with a sigh.

"I miss you." Poe declared huskily as he planted some soft kisses down her neck.

"I miss you too," Everly sighed whilst caressing the back of Poe's neck lovingly.

"You know I would be here if I was allowed." Everly added sadly. Poe sighed into her neck before pulling back to lock eyes with her.

"We've talked about this. It's not safe here." Poe explained.

"Nowhere is safe anymore Poe." Everly rebutted stubbornly.

"Naboo is safer than here, the First Order won't attack Naboo." Poe firmly explained while trying to memorise Everly's features knowing that their time together was running out and Everly would have to leave soon. Everly sighed in frustration at how stubborn Poe was.

"I just want you safe," Poe explained whilst he cupped her face with both hands. "I love you." He declared looking into Everly's eyes. Everly's eyes watered at the heartfelt declaration.

"I love you too Poe." Everly announced before pulling him into another passionate kiss that Poe immediately reciprocated. Poe couldn't keep his hands off of her, he didn't know when he would see her next and he embraced every second spent with Everly as long as possible.

"I want to give you something." Poe declared breaking the comfortable silence they were enjoying in each other's arms. Everly looked up in confusion. Poe freed a hand from Everly's waist and lifted the chain from around his neck over his head before gently placed it over Everly's head, the silver ring resting over her heart.

"Poe-"Everly started in disbelief, knowing this is his mother's wedding ring that he always wears and never takes off.

"Ever, I want you to wear my mum's ring," Poe told her, watching with a smile as Everly caressed the ring between her fingers. "Keep it safe for me, please?" Poe asked her, an unspoken promise lingered between them.

"Of course." Everly replied around the lump suddenly formed in her throat. Poe smiled gently before leaning down to press a chaste meaningful kiss on his lover's lips. They suddenly broke apart when a knock was heard on the door.

"Psst Poe! The General is looking for the princess!" was heard from outside.

Everly sighed unhappily before reaching up to caress Poe's face one last time, Poe closed his eyes trying to memorise the feeling before he grabbed her hand and planted a sweet kiss on her soft palm.

"I need to go." Everly reluctantly commented without making a move to open the door.

"Yeah, you do." Poe sighed. He slowly reached past Everly and opened the door ushering her out of the closet where Jessica Pava and Snap Wexley were waiting. Jess and Snap raised an eyebrow when they saw Everly wearing Poe's ring on a chain around her neck and she soon caught on and tucked it inside her dress with a weak smile for Jess and Snap.

Everly and Poe locked eyes one last time communicating all they couldn't say in front of his squadron members before they disconnected their hands and Everly hurried away, looking back once more before she turned the corner out of sight.

Poe kept his eyes on his Ever before she soon was out of sight. Snap coughed breaking Poe out of his trance. He could see Jess and Snap had so many questions but he shook his head before walking towards the hanger. He didn't want to miss her leave.

Everly soon found her mother back at her quarters and apologised for her absence, telling her that she needed a long walk after sitting for a long time. Leia immediately saw the addition of a familiar silver chain around her daughter's neck but didn't comment.

Soon it was Everly's time to go back to Naboo and she reluctantly walked with her mother back to the hanger where her ship was waiting with her guards. Everly could feel the eyes of most of the resistance on her. It had always been a mystery as to why she is always made to leave but she knew her mother only wants her to be safe despite not wanting to return to her ordinary life on Naboo.

Everly looked around the hanger and found the whiskey brown eyes she was searching for over by his x-wing with his droid, BB-8. Everly shot a quick smile his way, not wanting to raise any suspicion with her mother nearby who knows how to read her.

Everly hugged her mother tightly, inhaling the familiar scent of her hair that is always in pristine condition. Before she went to pull away completely, her mother gripped her tightly in her arms.

"You have a chain on- that's new." Her mother commented. Everly smiled to conceal her nervousness.

"It's a gift from a friend." Everly explained vaguely, not wanting to give anything away as she fidgeted with the chain being careful not to reveal the ring on the end.

"Hmm," Her mother only said in reply but had this knowing look on her face. "Fly safe my love." Leia declared before letting her daughter go.

"I will." Everly promised, squeezing her mother's hand one last time before turning to board her ship. She risked a look back at the hanger and shot a subtle smile in Poe's direction before joining her guards on the vessel.

Everly sat down in the pilot's chair and started up the engines. She loved to fly and demanded to be able to fly whenever she had to go off planet. What she would give to get her hands on an x-wing to take for a joyride instead of this slower cruiser.

Everly soon went through the system checks, before getting permission to take off. Leia and a handful of resistance personnel watched as she took off and breached the atmosphere, Poe included. When her ship was out of sight, Leia sighed before turning around to head back into the command centre. She caught Poe's eye with a knowing smile before disappearing from view. Poe avoided looking at Leia, anxious that she would be able to read his thoughts with just a look and pretended to be working on his x-wing. Poe looked back at the sky where Everly disappeared and frowned uncomfortably. He had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach and he couldn't place why.

Line Break-

An hour later he was in the command centre plotting black squadrons' next mission with General Leia, a scouting mission to Tatooine following reports of First Order activity.

"General! We are picking up a mayday signal." Lieutenant Connix interrupted. Leia immediately walked over to the screen Connix was using, Poe following after in concern.

"Patch it through." Leia commanded. Connix did as she requested, putting the broadcast on loud speaker for the room to hear.

"-Day MayDay, this is Princess Everl-""-under direct fire-""-first order-". The broken audio of the transmission filled the air and everyone went quiet in the room. Poe hands clenched into fists as he heard her voice through the speaker- her voice in distress.

Leia tried communicating with Everly's ship but to no avail.

"Her communications must be damaged," Leia commented and spared a quick look at a tense Poe on her right shoulder.

"Scramble black and blue squadrons now- I'm sending the coordinates to your ships," Leia demanded without hesitation- Poe was already moving and halfway out the door when he heard his name.

"Bring my daughter home." Leia told him. Poe nodded seriously before running to his ship, the tannoy sounding an alarm demanding black and blue squadrons to scramble their fighters.

So that is part one of the story, let me know what you think. I love Poe Dameron so I couldn't help myself writing a romantic story about him
