The Evans family had always been closely knit. The three sisters, varying in ages, could always been seen together, laughing and cracking jokes. They laughed a lot. Each named after flowers, their father often commenting that they were his 'precious petals'. In many ways the family made up a flower, each one a petal that allowed the world to see the flower's beauty.
Like most beautiful things, it was not to last. The first time the family would be torn apart happened when Lily Evans received a letter confirming that she was, indeed, a witch. Of course any child would be excited to learn that magic was real, Petunia had been an exception. She felt envious of her sister, she was to learn a whole new world.
Bryony, Lily's little sister just felt excited for Lily. She had seen the things Lily could do and had always tried to copy her, sometimes being successful. Lily, thrilled with the news confidently assured Bryony that she would be joining Lily in Hogwarts in a while. This left Petunia as an outsider in her own home.
Bryony and Lily, too ecstatic with their newly found abilities barely noticed this. Their parents doted over the two red heads (the only similarity other than magical blood the pair shared), enthusiastically encouraging their abnormalities. Mr and Mrs Evans almost completely forgot about their eldest daughter. In fact, it was almost like Petunia didn't exist at all.
Of course, it was never intentional. It's like most things. When you find something that's very extraordinary and beyond your dreams you begin to forget about those that aren't. Soon, the days was filled with laughter and joy surrounding the magic the pair could create. It was mostly Bryony's magic that took place, Lily often reminded Bryony that when she attended Hogwarts she could no longer perform magic outside of the castle walls until her seventeenth birthday.
Bryony didn't care, she finally understood. She had never fit in with anyone and now it made sense. She was a witch! Of course she didn't fit in she was different. She just decided to ignore that Lily also was a witch yet could fit in anywhere, it would only ruin the mood that had overcome her. She had a feeling that vibrates through her entire body, the feeling that anything was possible.
