Chichi woke up early in the morning with all the energy in the world to prepare for her special day. It was her birthday. Usually, her sons and husband did something nice for her and was basically the only day that they fully dedicated to her. On her birthday, training was not allowed, only family time. This year was different. Gohan got married few months ago and moved with Videl to a nice mansion gifted as a wedding present by Mr. Satan. Chichi was a little sad not to have her oldest son with her, but happy that he was starting a new stage in his life that hopefully will lead to many grandchildren.
The smell of a delicious breakfast woke up her younger son and handsome husband. She was not expecting breakfast in bed or anything alike. She did not like anyone to mess with her kitchen. Every time the boys tried to cook they made a mess. Chichi looked radiant with a big smile waiting for her boys. Both of them finally made it to the kitchen. Goten with a sleepy smiling face, "Hi mommy, it smells delicious". Goku kissed Chichi on the forehead to thank her for the food and said, "Chichi, you went all out for breakfast. Is there a special occasion?" Chichi was confused by Goku's comment, but assumed that he was just being funny. Goku and Goten devoured the breakfast in a second without mentioning her birthday.
Goku: Thank you for the food, honey! It got me pumped for training today.
Goten: Daddy, you said I can go train with you today.
Mommy, I already finished my homework and studied for the history test.
Goku: Yes, Goten! I've wanted to go to this deserted planet nearby. You can work on your energy blasts.
These words made Chichi realize that her boys did not remember her birthday. She changed her facial expression to a disappointed face. Goku noticed and asked, "Sorry, I did not ask. Is it okay to take Goten with me".
Chichi: Yes, of course. It is fine. He finished his school work.
Goku accepted the answer, but sensed that there was something off about Chichi's behavior. She would usually put more of a fight when it was about Goten's time away from school. Goku was used to seeing Chichi's angry face, but he was not used to seeing this sadish face. He was concerned, but Goten interrupted his thoughts with a loud, "Daddy, let's go". Goku enjoyed seeing his son's excitement for training, " I think you are the only one peron who gets more excited than me about training."He tried to make eye contact with his wife, but she pretended to be looking for something in the cabinets. He said in an excited voice, "Babe, we will be back for lunch. I can't wait to taste what delicious food you are going to make". Chichi just waved goodbye.
Chichi was sad, but thought that maybe the boys were pretending to go training, but they were working on a surprise with Gohan since he had not called her yet. She went about her day and made a delicious lunch for her boys. She took a relaxing bath and put on a nice dress to be ready for the surprise. She even let her hair down and did her make up. Chichi was anxiously waiting for them to come back to enjoy the surprise. While waiting she got a phone call. It was 18.
18: Happy birthday Chichi!
Chichi: Thank you, 18!
18: What are your plans for today? I was thinking maybe we can get together later.
Chichi: I can't today. The boys are planning a surprise, but let's plan something later in the week.
18: That is so sweet of them. Enjoy with them and yes, let's make plans for later this week. Enjoy the rest of your special day!
Hours passed and they boys were already an hour late from their usual lunch time. Finally, they used instrumentation to come back home. The both of them look dirty and smell terrible.
Goku: Hi Chichi! Sorry we are late, but this little guy was giving me a hard time. He is getting stronger every day.
Goten: Hahaha I want to be as strong as you dad. Super saiyan god, here I go.
Goku: You will son! Chichi, can you prepare a bath for us. Also, can you wash these clothes for us. We really went hard this time.
Goten: Mommy, you look pretty. Why is your hair down? Are you going somewhere?
Before Chichi had the chance to respond, the phone rang. Chichi picked it up. It was Bulma.
Bulma: Hi Chichi! Happy birthday!
Chichi: Thank you, Bulma. It is very kind of you to remember.
Bulma: How could I not? You are one of my best friends. I wanted to invite you to lunch next weekend. There is this new place that I think you are going to love. I was going to suggest going today, but I am sure you must have plans with your boys.
Chichi: Thank you, Bulma! That would be lovely. Thank you for thinking of me. Next weekend works well..
Bulma: It is a plan. I will ask 18 to join us. By the way, what have the boys planned for you?
Chichi: Sounds great. Sorry, Bulma. I have to run, I left something in the oven. I will call you back later to plan the details for lunch. Bye!
Chichi felt sad and a little embarrassed that her family forgot her birthday. She was not ready to share that with Bulma. She was completely dedicated to her family and put them before her needs and desires. She was hurt, but decided that if they were not going to celebrate her birthday, she was going to have her own celebration. She had a nice dress on, her hair looked great and she was the birthday girl.
Goku: Hey Chichi, is the bath going to take long? Maybe we could eat first if that is okay with you?
Chichi: Well, you decide. I was expecting both of you an hour ago. I have plans now and I am about to leave. You can prepare a bath for you and Goten. Lunch is served, you can heat it up if you want, but be careful with the energy blast because last time you burned the rice.
Goten: Mommy, where are you going?
Chichi: I have to run some errands, honey. I will be back later.
Chichi waved bye and jumped on Nimbus with direction to the city.
