Authors note: Hi everyone, and thanks for reading! For those of you who are reading my book called "Your Brother is a Murderer", this one will be a lot shorter. For those of you who don't: Go check it out! ;-) Just so you know, I am planning on writing one chapter every second day, but I don't really know. Perhaps if I get a lot of reviews, I will post one every single day instead ;-) (An offer you can't refuse, huh?)

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters you recognise from the books. It all belongs to Simon and Schuster. The plot belongs to my good friend Frank Joseph Hayden, I am literally just writing the story. A big thank to you, Frank Joseph Hayden!

Chapter one – Evil plans

"Yes, I do know she is pretty, smart, sweet, intelligent, funny and whatever else you may say, but we have something to do! Please just try to focus!" Frank Hardy stared at his younger brother with frustration written all over his face. Joe, twenty-three years old, blond and with vivid blue eyes, was lying on the couch in his own apartment, not caring about the documents they were supposed to get in order.

"I don't think you know Frank. If you did, you wouldn't mess around with all those stupid documents that means nothing at all" Joe answered dreamingly, not knowing exactly what they talked about. All he could think about was Vanessa, his fiancé. They had been engaged for about a month, and was going to marry soon. The date was still uncertain, though.

Frank let out a heavy sight, and pulled the documents away, knowing he had no chance to get Joe distracted from his thoughts. "Very well, then" he said with a small smile "so let's talk about something else. As for example: When are you gonna set the date? Three years? Five? Never? It isn't like you to be so irresolute. I know Vanessa is waiting for it."

"Is she?" Joe sat up "I suppose you are right. It's just… I don't really know when and how and… Well, literally everything. Actually, it's pretty hard to concentrate on anything except from her…"

"Yeah, I actually know that" Frank rolled his eyes ironically.

"Uhm, Frank, I just got to think about something" Joe turned his natural charm up about hundred levels and sent Frank an innocent smile "considered you are pretty good on all that big brother stuff, why don't you just come up with a date? I mean, after all, you are supposed to help me when I get a little stuck, and right now, I really am. Whaddya say? You accept?"

"Yes, right little brother, I'll do all the work, while you just enjoy the life, not caring about a thing" Frank answered headshaking "It really sounds like an offer I can't refuse."

Two people, a man and a woman, stood in the dark, looking at the moon. They stood close, holding each other's hands tightly. Her head placed comfortable at his shoulder, she couldn't see the twinkle in his eyes. Suddenly, he moved forward, placing his mouth close to her ear. He told her something, his voice filled with excitement and secrecy. When he was finished with the whispering speech, her eyes were filled with an unbelieving twinkle. She looked up at him, searching his eyes for a joking glance. She saw none.

"You… You really mean it, don't you?" she finally asked.

"Yes, I do." His voice was serious "He have waited long enough. We all have. If there are no other ways to do it, we will do it this way. We will kidnap him."

"Ant tell him to do… it?" Her voice trembled a little at the last word. She still wasn't quite sure if he really meant it. He seemed to be serious, though…

"Not just tell him. Force him. Whatever it might cost, we will win. We shall break him." His voice was determined.

A huge grin broke through the doubt in her face. "Whatever you say. If you tell me to kidnap him, I will. If you tell me to break him, I will. If you tell me to kill Joe Hardy, I will do that too."

A long moment, the two of them just stared at each other. Then, the man pressed a kiss to her mouth and asked "Okay, so you will kill Joe Hardy if I tell you to do it, right?"

She couldn't avoid herself from smiling when she noted the twinkle in his eyes. "Of course I will" she answered, still smiling. There was no hesitation in her voice.

"Good!" A smile crossed the man's lips before he turned around and started to walk towards the town together with the young woman. They held each other hands tight, as a promise to remain faithful to their promises. Even if it was to kill Joe Hardy…

'I want it to be soon. Very soon. I can hardly wait! But… Don't really think this month is the best, though. Perhaps next? Wait, that's her birthday month. Bad idea to take both things at once. I mean, we have to do it properly… The problem is just I don't know what they expect from me! Tomorrow? Yesterday? Five years? Probably something in between… But when? Ecaxtely when? And why on earth must I, I, of all men in the world, set the date? Well, probably because I am the groom…"

Joe Hardy walked slowly to his apartment, completely lost in his own thoughts. The two shopping bags from the grocery store dangled loosely in his arms; a secure proof he had forgotten all about the non-closable cup with coffee it contained. Or should we say – had contained.

Running up the stairs, he quickly pulled out his key. He was about to get inside, when he realised the door was still closed.

"I am sure I turned that key" he muttered surprised "perhaps I am beginning to get a little crazy? In the least I suppose Frank would say so…"

Turning the key again, Joe opened the door and headed inside. It was only then he realised the smell of coffee was a little too strong. Bending down, he found all his newly purchased goods swimming around in a large sea of still hot coffee.

"Not even I like coffee this much" he exclaimed "inside is okay, but to swim in it…?"

Before he managed fishing up some of the still intact goods, a noise straight behind his back caught his attention. Before he could move another centimetre, something little, round and cold was pressed against his back. A pistol.

"Hands over head, don't move, and we won't hurt you."

The voice speaking was dark, unnaturally dark. Slowly, taken completely off guard, Joe obeyed. The ice-cold steel sent chills down his spine, but he tried to remain cold.

The man - or rather the men; it was two of them - Joe found himself eyes to eyes with, was completely dressed in dark. From the cheap, ragged shoes to the balaclavas – everything was black. The only thing confirming they were humans and not mannequins, was the small opening showing their eyes. The dark shadows, though, made it impossible to know with colour they were.

"Follow us!" the same voice again, dark, obviously not in mood for any objections. Feeling the gun pressing a little harder against his ribs, Joe knew he had no choice but to follow.

Hauled violently down the stairs and out on the street, Joe sought desperate after someone, anyone. He saw none. The streets were totally empty. Feeling the pistol on his back again, he knew he had no choice but to climb inside the grey, cheap rental car waiting for them. Hearing the doors smack again, he felt his heart sink to his stomach. He was supposed to get marry. Not kidnapped.

Okay, that was the first chapter. As I have already said, this story won't be too long. However, I would really, really appreciate to know what you think. Please feel free to leave a review!
