"We're almost ready to go live, Flick!" C.J. said, excitement in his voice. The beaver sat at his computer, the webcam on top staring directly at Flick, who stood with his arms crossed in front of him, tapping his foot against the floor of their apartment.
"U-uh… yay?" He muttered, looking away from where C.J. was working, his long tail laying against the ground.
"Oh man, my audience is gonna love this!" C.J. continued, getting up from his seat to adjust one of the two microphones to accommodate Flick's height. "They're gonna tune-in, expecting to see my fishtastic setup and boom! We'll surprise them with a foresty-bug, uh, spectacular setup instead—oh!" His eyes widened suddenly, "Oh my, I almost forgot the green screen!" C.J. ran to the side of the room and began rolling a large green screen over to Flick.
"U-um the green screen?" Flick asked, watching his partner, "That's um, that's a lot… for just me…"
C.J. huffed at his response, "Just you? You are my everything, I want the stream to be perfect for you. I want to show you to my followers, I want them to know who my partner is and I'm ready… ready for them to know who I am." C.J. took his hands off the screen after he rolled it behind Flick, "Hm, let me see how it looks on the computer…" He went back to his computer, checking to see if the screen was in the right place.
Flick smiled slightly from C.J.'s remarks but was still anxious about the whole ordeal. "I… I know that you want it to be perfect but um…"
C.J. turned around in his chair, looking worriedly at Flick, "What's wrong, love?" He asked softly, his little ears lowering slightly with worry.
"I'm nervous about… the stream, uh, I mean, I haven't… or don't stream for a reason and, well…" He looked down at the ground.
C.J. stood, quickly coming over to Flick to hold his hands, rubbing them gently with his soft paws, "Hey, we don't have to do this if you don't want to."
Flick looked at C.J. in the eyes, responding quickly, "N-no, I want to do this, I mean, I was excited about this when you asked me if it was alright but…" Flick sighed, "What if they don't like me?" He muttered softly.
"Then they can leave," C.J. said flatly.
"But… you might lose followers; you might lose money and all that… I-I don't want to be the cause of that…"
C.J. chuckled softly, reaching up to give the chameleon a peck on the cheek. "You're so caring, I love you so much. Flick, I don't want them to be my followers if they can't accept us." C.J. looked back at his equipment, shrugging slightly, "I don't need them, or any of this to be happy," He looked back at Flick with a sheepish smile, "I have you, after all. Who needs anything else?"
Flick sniffed, wrapping his arms around C.J. in a gentle hug, tears dripping from his eyes and onto his partner's fur. "That's so sweet. Thank you, C."
C.J. hugged Flick back, nuzzling against his chest, "Of course, Flick. Come on, we don't have to do the stream, we can just go play some games together and chill."
Flick let go of the hug, eyes narrowed in determination as he clapped his hands together, his tail perking up and curling up like normal as he said loudly, "No way, we're doing it!" He lowered his voice after realizing how loud he was being, "The stream, I mean. I want to. Do it. With you."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive."
C.J. smiled a gentle smile, "Alright, let's get it started…" He went to his computer and turned the stream on, the Seasports stream going live. He checked how the stream looked before heading back to stand next to Flick, who had a small smile on his face.
"Hey, Fishionistas! C.J. here bringing you another wonderful stream, and for all you new fish in the sea, welcome to the well-known Seasports Stream—hey, wait a minute!" C.J. said, pressing his hands to his face, "What is this? This background isn't the normal beach background you all have come to know and love, no instead it's a forest background full of trees! And who is this guy, you all might be wondering." C.J. pointed towards Flick who giggled, amazed at how well C.J. did in front of an audience.
"Hi, I'm Flick." Flick said, giving the webcam a little wave.
"Yup! This is Flick, everybody!" C.J. said, "Remember all those amazing fish models I've shown you before on the stream? Well, they were made by him! He's a pretty amazing guy, huh?"
Flick blushed softly, his whole body turning from a deep red to a lighter pink, "Ah, well, when C.J. brings me fish, you know, I uh, I make models out of them. I really like art, and am pretty good at it, from model creations to drawings."
"But he's not just my business partner…" C.J. said, and Flick's heart felt as though it was nearly going to stop because he knew what was coming next. "He's my partner-partner," C.J. reached over, taking Flick's scaly hand into his paw, "Everyone, this is my boyfriend," C.J. said, a large grin on his face at how happy he was that he could say that. Flick stayed still, both melting from C.J.'s words and worried sick by the response. C.J., as if he could read Flick's mind, checked the comments on his phone with his free hand. "Look, Flick…" He held the chat up so that Flick could read it.
"Aww!"
"I'm so happy for you two!"
"Love it!"
"Congrats!"
"What a cute couple!"
"OMG CUTIES!"
"U 2 r adorbs!"
The response was overwhelmingly positive, and Flick was flushed even further pink from everyone's words. "T-thank you all…" He managed to mutter out as C.J. took the phone back and put it in his jacket's pocket.
"I'm super happy that you all got to meet him, and he has a commission page where you can commission him to make artwork for you! Mods, can you link Flick's commissions in the chat, please?"
"Commissions…" Flick muttered, the haziness from his head beginning to disperse, "Heh, I actually call them contracts," Flick smirked, "and you need not pay me unless you can't send me live specimens, then I require some bells."
C.J. nodded, "He can create models and artwork of anything, but he is a huge fan of bugs—a true etymologist. Love, why don't you show some of your work off! Talk about your favorite insects and models that you've done of them!"
Flick's blinked a few times at C.J.'s suggestion as he looked over to a nearby table that they prepared before the stream that had all of his insect models and art that he had done in the past. "Of course! Oh, where to begin?" Flick muttered, going over to grab a few pieces, his color returning. "Well, let's start with the butterflies!" He brought back two models of butterflies and some papers. C.J. took the butterfly models in his hands while Flick began to show his artwork to the camera. "Almost everyone loves butterflies! This drawing and model," He gestured with his long tail to one of the models that C.J. held, "is of the Agrias butterfly, known as one of the most beautiful butterflies in the world. Capturing its colors was difficult, but I managed to find a way to mix the colors to perfection."
C.J. watched proudly as Flick continued to go on about Agrias butterflies, enjoying how confident he became when speaking of his artwork and favorite subject—insects.
"Next is C.J.'s favorite butterfly, the Monarch butterfly…"
That ended up being one of C.J.'s longest streams and the only one that he deemed perfect because he had his boyfriend right next to him for all of it.
