Chapter 12
"I haven't told you about Adel yet?"
"No…"
"She was the bain of my childhood all because she was born thirteen minutes before me," he sighed dramatically.
"She's your twin?" Cassie gasped.
"Yes," AJ laughed.
"Where is she? Do you think she could come on Saturday as well?"
"She is running the family ranch in Texas. I don't know if she could make it but I will surely ask her."
Her reply of 'Good' ended with a yawn so AJ knew it was time to call it a night.
Giving her a kiss on her forehead he whispered, "Good night," and her reply of the same was the end of their talking. Both of them reached to turn off the light on ther side of the bed.
The next morning after sometime spent cuddling and kissing AJ made his way across the hall to get dressed for the day. He met up with Cassie, George, Grace, and a young man he didn't recoginize.
"Good morning all," AJ greeted them.
"Brandon this is AJ Chegwidden, AJ my stepson Brandon," Cassie introduced them.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Sir," Brandon offered, holding out his hand.
"And you as well young man."
"I'm glad that all three of you are here together. AJ and I have something we would like to tell you. We're engaged."
"I wondered why you didn't have your wedding ring on this morning," Brandon told her.
AJ was surprised that he hadn't noticed that himself, she must have taken it off when she got dressed that morning after he left her room.
"Oh mom that's great!" Grace chimed in.
"Isn't this all rather sudden?" George asked.
"When something is right you just know it, Mr. O'Halloran," AJ answered.
George took a step closer to AJ and looked him right in the eye and said, "As long as you treat our girl right you're okay by me. All I have to do is see that smile on her face to know how happy she is. I haven't seen her smile like that since Jake was with us."
Grace stepped closer to AJ and put an arm around his waist then said, "I think Mom and AJ are great together and I am all for them getting married…as long as I get to be a bridesmaid!"
"Thank you Grace, and George I will take as much care of her as she will let me. She is a very independent lady you know."
"Cassie is usually pretty clear headed about what she wants and if that is you then we will have to give you a chance," Brandon told him.
"Thank you Brandon," Cassie said then added, "We will have quite a day in front of us making calls and seeing who all can make it here for the wedding."
"Ummmm when is the wedding?" George questioned.
"Saturday," Cassie and AJ said in unison and then grinned at each other.
"This Saturday?" Grace exclaimed.
"Yes darling," Cassie told her daughter.
"Wow that will hardly give me time to get a new dress!"
Cassie smiled indulgently and assured her, "We will make the time Grace."
"Oh great!" she cheered as the guests started to arrive for breakfast.
Once everyone was seated and eating Cassie took her spoon and tepped on her water glass to get everyone's attention. When all eyes were on her, she said, "AJ and I know that most of you had planned to return home on Friday. But we both hope that you might stay one extra day."
"Why is that Ms Nightengale?" Harm asked.
AJ was the one that answered however, "We'd like you all to be here for our wedding."
"Wedding?!" Mac gasped.
"Yes AJ proposed last nigth and I said yes," Cassie told her.
"But you've only known each other a few days!" Sturgis stated.
"Sometimes you just know," AJ replied.
"I'll bet its because she looks just like you," Harm muttered to Mac.
"Harm!" she protested.
"They may look alike Harm but they are nothing alike in personality," AJ told him.
Harm just nodded embarassed that he had been overheard.
