-The smallest things can have the biggest impacts on life-
Star Wars
Different Ventress, Different Time
Part 1
Okay entry number one, let's begin. My name is Asajj Ventress, I am a female Dathomirian Zabark from, as your first guess would be, the planet Dathomir; though to be honest I'm not on Dathomir, nor have been there since I was an infant. I know where I came from because my first master, a criminal named Hal'Sted, accidentally told all about how he acquired me one night when he was very, very drunk. If you're wondering how this happened well in short, he blackmailed my clan, the Nightsisters, into giving me up as a slave or else we'd all perish. And if you're also wondering why I'm telling you all this, well Master Ky Narec, my second master, thought that now that I am older I should begin recording all the things I've learned and seen throughout my life in the Holocron before you. As he's said countless times, to help preserve the order for future generations, the Jedi of the present must create records that provide the knowledge needed to teach those future Jedi. That is why I'm doing this, so that eventually when my time comes, I'll have given enough knowledge to help people in the future unlock their abilities and become Jedi as I am.
And if it wasn't clear until now, yes that's right, I'm a Jedi. Mystical beings with extraordinary powers who serve as guardians of peace and justice throughout the galaxy-wide, democratic government. Well, to be honest, I'm just a Jedi in training, aka a Padawan learner. I'm also not a guardian of the thousands of star systems that make up the Galactic Republic. I only protect one planet in the entire universe, a backwater world unheard of by the Galactic Republic in the Outer Rim territories, named Rattatak. It is a vicious planet ruled by bloodthirsty warlords who constantly fight with one another for control over everything they can get their grimy hands on. The only people who travel to this world, (on purpose), are people like my first master, who seek to get away from the many laws that make up the Republic and find a place where they could do anything they want no matter how morally wrong it may be.
My second master is a different story: he crash-landed on Rattatak by accident when I was five years old, (ten years ago next week). Though he's convinced that it was by the will of the force that brought him here to this horrible world infested with unending chaos, on the very same day that my first master died, to find me and witness me use the force for the very first time in my life.
Despite being shot at the moment he crashed, despite being chased by criminals who wouldn't give him a chance to explain himself or offer an alternate solution, my master did things unlike anything heard of before on Rattatak. He defended innocent lives, united armies to fight for others rather than themselves, brought peace to a world full of chaos. I was by his side when he did all this. He took me, a child he'd just met and risked his life to help keep me alive. He trained me to control and understand my powers, gave me everything in my life that is great. Together we're on the verge of bringing absolute peace to Rattatak and have already begun rebuilding cities that have been damaged by the constant wars the planet has faced throughout its entire history.
In my mind, Master Ky Narec is the greatest thing to ever happen to me and the rest of Rattatak. Sure we still face resistance from warlords who refuse to accept our peaceful ways, but that is only natural as my master has explained to me in the past.
I sense my master coming into the small section of the cave we call home. He said he'd only disturb me if something urgent came up so I must end this recording now. I shall return and provide new stories, perhaps of what mission I may go on next. Farewell and may the force be with you.
Deactivating the Holocron her master had given her as a birthday a couple of months ago, the bone-white coloured skin girl with brown hair, (half of which had been shaved off), stood up in attention while she waited for her master to come. During this time, she used the force to grab the hilt of her lightsaber, (which had been resting by her side while she making her entry into the Holocron), attaching it to the belt she wore around her dark brown pants and the sleeveless shirt she wore atop of that.
Within a minute she saw the figure that was her mentor and best friend walk into the small alcove in the cave they called home. Master Narec, a light-skinned human male with dark brown hair tied up in a ponytail and a small patch of hair, (of the same colour). With his lightsaber included, (handle clipped onto his belt), he still wore the same tan coloured Jedi robes he'd been wearing since the day he arrived on Rattatak so many years ago; though now they were worn out and had various cuts from all the fights he'd been in over the years.
"Asajj," Master Narec bowed.
"Master," Ventress said while bowing as well.
"A group of Warlords led by Osika Kirske are attempting a takeover of Ematt City," Master Narec said, getting to the point of. "Defences are holding for now but it won't be long before the forces at that Vollick's disposal. Reinforcements from other sectors are getting ready as we speak, but it'll be sometime before they get there. Till then we need to get there to hold off Kirske's army till additional support can arrive. Afterwards, once we've driven off the invaders, we should hopefully get an opportunity to capture Kirske, perhaps a few of the other warlords he has under his control. Understood?"
The young padawan understood. She knew that this meant that if everything went the way they wanted, world peace for all of Rattatak could be happening within a matter of months. Perhaps weeks.
The smile on her face grew into a massive grin at the excitement of perhaps finally ending the war. She couldn't help hide this from how quick she was to respond to her master. "Yes, Master. Absolutely Master. I'm already ready."
The Jedi Knight didn't bother to reprimand his student for not controlling her excitement. He, himself, had been like this at her age when he was about to go on big missions that he knew would have a massive impact. It was only natural. Instead, he decided to let Asajj haver moment and remind her to keep herself in check on the way to the battlefield.
"Then let's go, my young apprentice. And may the force be with us."
The battle was proving far more bloody than anticipated. It appeared that Kirske had called in many favours to get almost all of, if not all of, the remaining crime syndicates to join forces. The outer defences of Ematt City were outnumbered a hundred to one. Even with the arrival of the Jedi and their army of honourable and experienced soldiers, they were forced to make a retreat from the cities' outer borders into the, (now abandoned), city center. There Master Narec and Padawan Ventress were making a desperate stand against Weequay mercenaries hired by Kirske for the sole purpose of taking out the Jedi. Ventress was duelling a couple of mercenaries who were using cortosis blades; whereas her master faced off against a Weequay more heavy machine guns and buck load of explosives.
Both too occupied with battling the foes in front of them, neither Jedi noticed another Weequay enter the battle zone, this one carrying a sniper rifle in his arms. Positioning himself at a few feet behind Master Narec, the sniper aimed his weapon at the Jedi Knight and pulled the trigger. At that exact moment Ventress, having just finished off her opponents and sensing a disturbance, turned around and saw the sniper fire his gun at her mentor.
"MASTER!" she shouted.
The Master Narec turned around in time to see the laser bolt heading straight towards him, though he didn't block, he didn't need to. Just as the laser bolt was halfway towards him, it suddenly froze in the air, as if an unseen hand had taken hold of it.
All three of them, master, apprentice, and sniper froze, though not because of some mysterious force holding them in place, but out of complete shock. This sort of force attack was something unseen or heard of before in Rattatak history. Sure the Jedi had used the force to stop moving objects hundreds of times in the past, but never had either master or apprentice held a laser bolt in mid-air themselves. Ventress had never even heard of such a technique during her time as a padawan learner. Narec, on the other hand, was not only aware of its existence but had seen it performed many times in the past. It was difficult to do so, however, requiring an immense amount of power, time, and training to even attempt. Only a few in the Jedi Order were known to have used it, and Master Narec was quite familiar with one of those few Jedi.
No longer occupied with fighting the Weequays, the Jedi's attention returned to their physical surroundings with the force guiding them towards a nearby alleyway, in between where Master Narec and the sniper had been. There they saw a blue-skinned creature, a male to be assumed, (whose species had never been seen before on Rattatak), standing up to a height of 1.9 meters, not counting the pair of horns rising from the top of its head. The creature had two fleshy tentacles originating from sides of his head, and resting on his shoulders. Sticking out of the ends of these tentacles were another pair of horns, (one horn per each tentacle). The creature wore robes similar to that of Narec though not as wore out as the Jedi Knight's were, and with a brown cloak hanging over its body. This mysterious being also carried the lightsaber, it's hilt hanging onto a belt on the creature's waist. Along with this, the creature had a hand raised out, directed towards the laser bolt hanging inches away from Master Narec. There was no doubt in anyone's mind that this creature was not only responsible for stopping the blaster bolt from killing Master Narec but was a Jedi as well; one who Ky Narec knew from the moment he saw him in the alley.
But before anything could be said, parts of the sky began to grow darker while wind began gushing around them. Master Narec and Padawan Ventress, as well as anyone else the sniper, (who was still about the floating bolt and newcomer), raised their heads in the air to see a small fleet of cruisers, (with the Republic symbol painted on their bellies), slowly descending from the sky across Ematt City.
It was an amazement to all who saw this. Never had Rattakah been visited by so many ships before in its entire history. As a result, the people of Ematt City stared in awe and amazement at all the flying crafts appearing from the sky variety. Some such as the many criminal invaders and locals of the city were terrified of the ships, fearing that the people on them would cause them harm. Others, such as Ventress and the natives of Rattatak who had heard about Narec's wondrous stories about the Republic and it's ability to maintain peace, freedom and justice across thousands of world, were excited to see the fleet coming towards them.
As they all continued to stare up at the ships arriving, Master Narec returned his attention towards the other Jedi, "Master Mana?" He said, a smile protruding on his face as he spoke.
"Hello Ky," Master Mana said in response before taking a look around at the wrecked landscape that was Ematt City's city center. "It seems you gotten into quite the mess. I thought you'd learned to control yourself during your time as my padawan."
Entry number two: oaky so after my last entry Master Narec informed me that some an army of criminals were attempting a takeover of a nearby city, led by warlord Osika Kirske. As Jedi, we must protect the innocent lives of the city. So we went and fought with the local militia. It proved to be a challenge. They overran our outer city defences and drove us into the city's center. Many were killed and I even almost lost my master. But to my relief, the force didn't allow for this to happen. By its will, we were given a gift far greater than anything I could ever have hoped for. When Weequay raiders attempted to shot my master down, he was saved by a new arrival, Jedi Master Balans Mana, who was my masters' master years ago. With him, he brought a task force comprised of the Republic's defence forces and other Jedi Knights. Together with the Republic's forces combined with our own, we were able to turn the battle around and strike a massive blow against Kirske and capture a huge amount of his allies. Kirske of course escaped, but thanks to the Republic's support, we're rounding up more and more of his territories. The people of Rattatak are already talking of joining the Galactic Republic, who have agreed to continue to assist in reorganizing the planet into a peaceful world.
I couldn't believe it, nor could I believe the fact that as I record this entry, the Masters are making preparations for me and Master Narecs to be transported offworld to Coruscant, capital of the Galactic Republic and location of the Jedi Order's main temple.
This is it! I'm finally leaving Rattatak. I'm going to join the ranks of the Jedi Order, serve alongside its most famous members, explore worlds completely different from Rattatak, and become a Jedi Knight just as my master promised me years ago when he took me in. At long last, I will enter a life filled without misery or regrets. Together with the rest of the Jedi Order, I shall maintain peace and order throughout the galaxy.
Well, I think we're off to a pretty good start with this fanfic. Please feel free make to any comments you have on this story and let me know what you think. Also, be sure to favourite and follow this story so that you're ready for more chapters.
By the way, Ematt City was named in honour Rebel Alliance and Resistance Leader Caluan Ematt, whose actor from the Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, Andrew Jack, recently died from COVID-19. May he rest in peace. May the Force be with Andrew. We shall always love and miss you.
F.Y.I. Though this story is an alternate timeline it will follow the canon timeline but with a few alterations; some connected to legends, others not.
And finally, May the 4th be with you and have a Happy STAR WARS DAY : )
