Spottedfur crawled out of the den, her consciousness fleeting. She crawled down to the river, hoping to drink something, her own blood had been pouring into her mouth, and her throat was more parched than it had ever felt before. She crawled to the water, and started slowly lapping it up. Her head spun. Any more of this… "hey! You!" Spottedfur's head shot up, and she drew her mouth back into a snarl. It was the she-cat from the patrol before! She tried to stand up, but fell. "There in the den… just don't kill me…"

"Who?" the cat asked.

"The deputy… and the dog-thing…"

The cat's eyes widened. "Stonefur!" then she ran into the bush, and came out a minute later, with the injured Deputy on her heels. Moonstar came out a moment later, snarling and growling at the two cats. Spottedfur had gotten to her paws and was now staring at the dog-thing, eyes wide with terror. "What are you..?" the large dog-like creature turned to look at the small tabby. " I am just a cat, like you. Now come on, before they come back!"

Spottedfur decided to follow her. It increased her chances of survival, anyway. they trekked along the river for hours on end. Spottedfur felt the dizziness returning. "How… much… longer…?"

"Not much longer…"

The trees around the pair slowly got thicker, until almost no sunlight was getting through the canopy. Spottedfur's vision swam again and she saw a quick glimpse of her brother, but it faded fast. After another hour though, she felt like her brain had been hit by a monster. Her vision swam, and she fell, unconscious, onto the riverbank.

Spottedfur awoke on moss, not like the mud she had collapsed on. For a terrifying heartbeat, she thought it had all been a dream, and she was in the WindClan medicine den. But then, she felt the gashes on her throat, where Stonefur had attacked her. Her pain was gone, but she still couldn't move her limbs that well. She found a piece of fresh-kill by her nest. She shifted in her bed, and let out a squeak of pain. Her muscles had completely seized up. They felt like stone. She pushed herself to the piece of fresh-kill, and started to tear pieces off of it. She gulped them down happily. She heard another cat shift in the den; she hadn't smelled them through the stench of her own dried blood. She whirled her head around and saw a mostly white she-cat, with some grey splotches, mostly on her rump, and green eyes. She smiled when she saw Spottedfur looking at her. "ah! you're awake!" Spottedfur nodded. She was in too much pain to talk. She felt kicks, and one that was bigger than the others made her yelp. The medicine cat came over to her, and pressed against her side for comfort. Spottedfur felt another kick, and realized something. My kits!
