AN: most frustrating thing I found coming back to this story was the multiple POVs. I had no choice but continuing it the way I started it but I do wish I hadn't done it this way!

Christian

My father and I are at the court to witness the arraignment of one Stephen Morton. I'm sick to my stomach right now watching the man that stole my daughter and hurt my wife being brought into the courtroom from the cells he's been held in. He looks so scruffy, dirty. I feel sick knowing he had his hands on my wife. My wife. How I wish Hyde had just shot the bastard.

"Mr Morton you have been charged with one count of kidnap in the first degree and one count rape in the first degree how do you plead?" The judge asks.

"Not guilty your honour" he replies gruffly.

I stare at the back of his head, his white hair matted. It's taking every ounce of strength to stay in my seat. I want to kill the bastard.

"Prosecution on bail?" The judge turns to the state attorney.

"We request remand your honour Mr Morton has priors for rape and sexual abuse and committed one crime in order to commit another showing his intent. This was a cold, calculated and pre-planned attack." The prosecutor explains, her voice firm and hard. I don't know if I like her yet but so far so good.

"We have no objections your honour." The defence responds taking me by surprise.

"You're remanded to King County pending trial Mr Morton." The judge says before banging the gavel. At least the bastard will be behind bars until the trial starts, that is little piece of mind for all of us.

Carrick

"Mr Grey can I have a word please." The prosecutor says catching Christian and I just as we were heading for the door.

"Sure." I reply glancing at Christian. "Why don't you wait by the door for me." I tell him, he looks confused but says nothing and makes his way to the doors while I go to one side with the prosecutor. Her name is Julia Morgan, I've seen her work a few times and I know she's good. I'm also glad she's a woman with the sensitive nature of this case. It will be easier for Ana to work with a woman when the time comes for trial prep.

"Uh so you're representing Jack Hyde right?" She says looking a little flustered.

"That's right." I reply.

"Well, I thought I should give you the heads up that we're looking at charging Hyde as a co-conspirator." She says and my mouth falls open in utter surprise.

"But Anastasia said..."

"I know what Anastasia said Mr Grey, I have also seen the statement she gave to the police and between some of the things she said in her statement and what we have off record from Morton..."

"Morton." I choke. "You're discussing a plea?"

She says nothing in response to the utter horror on my face but she doesn't need to, for her to know what Morton is saying, I know they're talking a plea otherwise Morton wouldn't be saying anything in regards to this case to the prosecution.

"My daughter in law was violently raped, my granddaughter kidnapped from her pushchair and drugged. Tell me you're not seriously considering offering him a deal." I feel sick even having this conversation but it needs to be had, I need to prepare myself to have to tell Ana and Christian about this.

"I appreciate that Mr Grey but I have to do my job. Between you and me, Morton's claims alone would not be enough but Anastasia's own statements corroborate what he's saying. He claims that Hyde knew he had an obsession with your daughter in law and Anastasia said the same thing in her statement, Hyde told her he knew Morton had a sexual desire for her and an unhealthy obsession. Morton said that he told Hyde where he was and what his plans for her were, Hyde delivered her to Morton. I'm sorry, I have no choice here but to consider prosecuting Jack Hyde for conspiracy to rape."

I close my eyes and take a few breath, there's going to be a lot to work out here and I need to talk to Anastasia before I can make any decisions.

"What will it take for you not to offer Morton a deal?" I ask shakily.

"A confession that I'm not going to get without a deal." She replies. "I need his testimony against Hyde. Anastasia hasn't made a complaint against Hyde at all."

"What deal are you offering?" I ask needing to know so I can prepare my family.

"Currently thirty years, fifteen for the kidnap and fifteen for the rape to be served consecutively."

Knowing Morton is in his fifties the deal doesn't sound too bad to me really but it's just the thought he'd get anything less than life in prison for what he did to Ana sickens me.

"Hyde will go to trial." I say and she nods softly, her dark locks bouncing around her shoulders. "I will need to recuse myself."

"I'm sorry Mr Grey." She says sympathetically.

"Me too." I sigh. "I'm going to speak with my daughter in law. If Jack is a co-conspirator..." I shake my head as I really don't know what to think, Hyde seemed so remorseful and Ana hasn't once said he was to blame. "Do you think Morton is telling the truth?"

"That's for a jury to decide." She says shrugging. It's not that simple though, not for me and I know it won't be for my family. I have to speak to Ana.

Ana

I've finally stopped throbbing after Grace and Cathy did my ointments. There's no infection thankfully but they're keeping a close eye. I'm fed up of the pain though, it's excruciating. A knock on the door pulls me from my thoughts.

"Just a minute." I say climbing off the bed to grab my robe. I need to cover my behind but I can't bare the thought of anything touching my skin right now. "Come in!" I call once I'm covered.

I'm surprised to see a very sheepish looking Carrick come into the room. He hasn't been by to see me since I've been home but I put it down to him being busy with lawyer stuff and Jack.

"Hello my darling how are you doing?" He asks softly.

"I'm ok." I reply with a standard response because Carrick doesn't need to hear about how I'm dying inside. "What's up?" I ask knowing there's a reason for him being here.

"Christian and I were in court today." He starts before signalling the chair beside the bed. I nod and he takes it but I won't sit because I can't right now. I wait impatiently for him to continue. "They were arraigning Morton."

"Remanded?" I ask shakily and he gives me a small nod. Well at least I know he's locked up for now. That's a small comfort.

"After the session the prosecutor came to have a word with me about Jack Hyde." He says and I see the nervousness in his body. He's fumbling his hands, glancing at me before looking away. It's unusual to see Carrick nervous. In ten years I don't think I've ever seen him look so unsure of himself. "They want to prosecute Jack Hyde as a co-conspirator."

"As a what?" I ask my brain failing to function.

"They have reason to believe that he may have been more involved, helping Morton not helping you. That he took you to that house knowing that Morton was there and was intending to rape you..." my hand goes up to stop him speaking and I turn away. My heart races in my chest and bile rises in my throat. "Ana..." he comes to stand behind me and I shake my head, no I don't want to hear this.

"Jack helped me..." I choke as the sobs threaten to engulf my body.

"I know that's what you think...but is there anything that would make you suspect otherwise?" I turn to look at Carrick, he looks devastated and I struggle to keep myself together.

"He found Amaya and he took me to her, he said he couldn't go in because he couldn't go back to prison. He came though, he stopped Morton and shot him..."

"They believe they were working together." Carrick says and I shake my head violently, no he can't have been working with Morton, he saved me... "Anastasia my darling girl, he knew what Morton wanted to do..."

"He got me Amaya back..." I choke.

"It could have been a set up..."

"Get out." I sob.

"Ana..."

"Get out!" I yell needing him out of here so I can think. "Get out! Get out!" I shout again desperate for him to leave me he gives me a sad smile before he hurries out the room and I collapse to the floor in a distraught heap.

"Mr Grey." I look surprised as he joins me in the kitchen, I knew he was talking to Ana when I arrived so I kept away, Ana hasn't been very receptive to her family and so anyone who has been able to get through to her I respectfully give them space.

"Ana needs you." He says looking like he may burst into tears at any moment. Taking my cue from him I run for the stairs and climb them two at a time. I hear her before I even make it into the room, loud and harsh sobs echo from her throat. I burst in and find her in a hysterical heap on the floor.

"Ana..." I collapse to my knees in front of her. "Ana what happened?" I ask hoping I can calm her down but I don't think she even hears me as she wails desperately on the floor.

I sit and stroke my hand through her hair until her sobs run into dry hiccups, it feels like hours pass but I say nothing, just reassure her that I'm there.

Eventually she pushes herself up off the floor. I make room for her but she just walks past me as though I'm not there. She removes her robe as she enters the bathroom and her tshirt comes off over head. I watch her silently as she climbs into the shower.

I don't think the water even gets a chance to warm up before she begins to sob again and I can't stay composed. I don't know what has caused this yet but seeing Ana like this...She had been doing so well, we were ready to start therapy, she had done so well doing her statement. It's like we've gone backward though.

"Ana, I'm going to speak with Christian." I call but she doesn't respond. I don't know what on Earth has happened but I'm damn well going to find out.

I make my way to the nursery where I know Christian has been spending a lot of time with his children. True enough he's sat on the nursery floor looking like he's aged again since I last spoke to him.

"What happened?" I ask as his grey eyes meet mine. He shakes his head and stands, I can understand why he doesn't want to talk about it in front of the children.

We end up in his office and I listen to Christian tell me what Carrick was told at the courthouse about Hyde being prosecuted as a co-conspirator. Now at least I know what's devastated Ana. She had trusted Jack Hyde and now it seems as though he may have been responsible for what happened. She was fooled into trusting him to find her daughter and he led her to her rape and assault or that's how it's being framed right now.

"How is my wife?" Christian asks shakily.

"Distraught." I reply. "Maybe you should try speaking to her. She didn't respond to me." I know as a couple they're close but I also know Ana has been pushing Christian away.

Christian is quick to his feet and marches straight to the bedroom. I follow him inside and he finds Ana in a heap on the floor of the bathroom. She barely glances in our direction as Christian leans in, in his suit, to turn the water off. I grab a towel from the rack and hand it to him before leaving to give her some dignity.

"Come on Ana baby." He whispers softly. I can only just hear him from the other side of the door. "Let me take you to bed."

Ana says nothing in response but after five minutes they exit the bathroom, Ana wrapped in the towel in Christian's arms. Her eyes are all glazed over and I sigh, this is bad, really bad.
