Upon hearing what Mine just said, Joseph had a hard time swallowing that. In fact, he's under the assumption that he was dozing off and apparently missed something. "I'm sorry….I apparently missed something, what was that Mine?"
"I said I'm from another world…..or dimension." Mine reluctantly answered.
"Umm…..Mine, now is not the time for humorless jokes." Joseph said as a ball of sweat traveled down the back of his head. He actually thinks this woman is crazy or on some kind of drug that would make her say such blasphemous garbage. Last time he recalled, he found Mine passed out in the C deck corridor and brought her into his room on F deck for assistance.
"I'm not kidding Joseph! It was April 14th on the Imperial Year of 1024 when I fell asleep and now I'm waking up on some liner on the same date but the year is 1912! Yes! I took a look at one of your letters and the year clearly said in black ink, 1912!"
"Whoa! Slow down! Imperial Year 1024? You're hardly making any lick of sense!"
"And another thing is that Pumpkin is my Teigu! A large gun that uses spirit energy as ammunition and fires it in a concentrated shock-wave."
"Teigu?I've never heard of such things in my life! You've clearly gone mad!" Joseph shouts, making an accusation out of Mine.
"Mad?! Well….To your eyes that may be true but I'm not mad! I'm being one hundred percent honest here!" Mine shouts back.
She truly expected this to happen. Who really believes such things that are out of this world with absolutely no problems? The pinkette isn't as stupid as anyone assumes her to be. Besides, even she had a hard time believing that she was in another dimension at first.
The sounds of metal being strained and groaning has slipped right into their ears, forcing their argument to come to an unsatisfied closure.
"You hear that?" Asked the brunette as his eyes were focused on the person standing beside him.
"She's starting to fall apart! I don't think we have much time left." She answered as her eyes circled around the area until she found a small secluded area that exposed some metal railing that seemed like it was heading upstairs.
"There!" Mine shouts as her index finger was directed at the small opening within the small path of rooms.
"Wait! Mine!" The brunette immediately grabs Mine by her wrist and grips on tightly.
"We're not leaving until you finish whatever ridiculous story you've got in that hot headed mind of yours."
"There's no time for that!" Mine objects.
"I believe there is!" Joseph asserted.
"Why do you want to know so much about me? I thought you said it was ridiculous."
"Well….That explains why you were acting so suspicious but I just find this hard to believe and without any evidence….I can't really prove that it's true." Joseph states with honesty in his voice, he honestly wasn't sure if whatever Mine was talking about is the truth.
"That's pretty understandable! I honestly expected someone like you would gullibly eat this info up but you're a lot smarter than you look." Mine really had to make the mistake of judging him just by his looks and attitude.
"I'm well educated in more ways than one! I would not have made it as far as I did."
"And yet you brought a stranger into your own cabin who could've ended your life in seconds. Sounds pretty naive." Raising one brow as she noticed the contradiction in his speech.
"You'd do well to not let yourself become soft or else your life will end in a premature state." And just then the pinkette came to the sudden realization that she was saying stuff that Chelsea would say.
"Well…...You're not wrong! As much as it hurts really, I just wanted to help someone for once but I just keep forgetting how cruel and unforgiving this world can be. I won't do that again." Joseph acknowledges the things Mine has said as his eyes were fixated towards the floor.
"I guess I finally understand why Chelsea said those things about Sheele and Bulat…." Mine mutters underneath her breath but since they were in a lonely white corridor, Joseph can clearly hear her words.
"Who's Chelsea? Or this Schere and Brauht person?" Joseph asked, a small smirk appearing on his face as he leaned closer towards the pinkette.
"I have no intention of answering that."
"Oh? That's a shame. So? Where did you come from? Like in your "dimension" sense." Asked the brunette, having the temptation to wanting to know more about Mine.
"Me? Well…..Fine! But consider yourself honored! I don't just walk up to some random schmuck on a boat and tell them my entire sob story."
"I was raised within the Western borders of the Empire and half of my blood was foreign, I was mercilessly ridiculed and not a single person accepted me. My younger days were nothing but Hell! I made it my life's dedication into ending this age for racial discrimination and unfair treatment." The pinkette finishes by releasing a heavy sigh. "Happy?" Asking Mine but completely unsure if he still believes her.
"Not really, I guess that explains how you react to people you don't know. You're afraid of being alienated and bullied again so you act fierce to intimidate those who have temptation but deep down you're a girl wanting-"
"Enough! I don't need some stranger assuming that I'm like some open book!"
"Fine Fine!" Said Joseph, slightly backing away from the slightly angered Mine.
"And now what about you? It's only fair if you give me your sob story to listen to."
"Well….I really don't have much compared to you but I'll try. I was born within the capital of New Jersey, raised in a lower class family for about five years until we moved to Queenstown. I attended school but faced harsh treatment but I withstood it and once school was over I started a career as a farmer under my father and now I was told that my grandfather was running out of time so I got on the Titanic on her way to New York so that I can get to Harrisburg to see him one last time."
"I see! Not as bad as mine but you did face hardships as a kid and it hardened you a bit." Mine spoke as some satisfaction hit her like a freight train.
"T…..Thanks…..I guess." Said Joseph as he really had nothing to say at the moment but now it's about time that they focused on that stairwell that Mine found. The creaking and the groaning of the metal structure increased in volume and sent chills down their spines.
"We should be heading upstairs!" Mine says as she headed towards the stairway only for the brunette to follow her, reaching the corner and grabbing the rails as they quickly ascend towards the upper deck.
As they made it towards the end of the small stairway, the pinkette spins towards the left and storms towards what appears to be a long corridor. Rushing down the narrow corridor to find a door within their path, gripping onto the handle and trying to pull it open but it won't budge.
"Fuck! It's locked!" Shouted Mine as she tossed her foot against the door as it buckled from the force in that kick, the wooden frame creaking loudly.
"Wait! Mine! Don't do that! You'll be arrested for damaging private pr-"
"LIKE I GIVE A DAMN!"
And with one fierce punt to the door, the structure immediately snapped off of it's foundation and tumbled forwards towards the ground.
Joseph was amazed that a lady can hold that much strength to knock down a door within a couple kicks.
"Let's go!" Mine says as she points her index towards another corridor as they rushed down, looking from every area for an open staircase to take them to the upper decks but it just wasn't there.
Just then the pinkette stopped in her tracks to find water lightly spewing out the door that was standing within their path, the quiet sound of water pouring out of the sides of the door along with the quiet lapping of the miniature waves against the walls.
"Wait! There's water on E Deck?!" Joseph was puzzled upon seeing the pinkette's most unexpected yet valuable piece of evidence that supports the fact that the ship is going to founder.
Taking a second to figure out that the starboard list has been corrected.
"Well? Does this support my suspicion that this ship is inevitably sinking?" Mine asked while carrying that "I told you so" look as her arms remained crossed.
"You know what? Yeah! You may be right, Titanic is genuinely sinking." Joseph finally admits, deep down he knew that this ship was in danger ever since Mine made her claim that it was.
"About time!" The water was already lapping up against her feet, the freezing temperatures alone sparked a sudden jolt within the pinkette as she lightly jumped backwards.
"Should we knock down this door as well?" Mine asked.
"Not worth it! Whatever we're looking for might be underwater by now…..We'll have to find another way upstairs."
"Alright! Lead the way!" Mine says as the brunette started walking the opposite direction, the pinkette soon followed after getting a quick glance at the rate of flooding.
D-Deck Port Gangway Door
1:10 A.M
A couple boatswain were down by the left side of the D Deck dining room, standing right by the gangway door as they undo the locks that kept the door shut and it slowly came out in the open. The main intention of the doors were to be used to deliver passengers from the door towards the lowering lifeboats. The crew left their position and headed back upstairs towards the boat deck.
Lifeboat #6
1:13 A.M
The sounds of buckling metal and the rope pressing against the davits released into whoever was close to the boat or Lightoller who was giving the command to lower the craft. First Class Passenger Molly Brown looked around the boat and noticed a problem, there was only one sailor on this boat.
"Say, we only got one sailor with us. That's not enough to manage this boat." Molly points out as she tilts her head upwards towards the officer.
"Hold it there!"
"Avast Lowering! What's the matter?" Lightoller questions as he slightly leans his head downwards.
"Hey Son! We only got one sailor on this boat!" Molly calls out.
Lightoller takes a moment to look around the area for any possible seaman to manage this boat. "Are there any spare hands here?"
"I'll go….If you like." Called out one passenger.
"Are you a sailor?"
"I'm a Yachtsman."
"I'm you're seaman enough to nip down that lifeline, you can go...Below!"
"Sir?" Called the only sailor on the lifeboat.
"Let's have that line!" Called Lightoller.
The line was being swung back and forth by the sailor as it was within the second officer's reach, grabbing onto the line and handing it to the Yachtsman.
"Right! Good luck!" Finished Lightoller as the sailor rode the rope down towards the halted boat. Safely landing on the boat and sitting himself down in one of the empty seats.
"Lower away together!" Lightoller says, spreading his arms apart as he issued the order for the boat to evacuate the ship. As the boat was lowering, it was lowering past the gangway door that was open just minutes ago. Not a single passenger was there and it wasn't even taken into account by one single passenger. The boat makes a small impact with the sea as the calm Atlantic waters gently lap up against the wooden hull. The oars came out as the boat turned towards the port side and began evacuating the vicinity of the sinking liner.
