Batman vs Penguin
It was a dark and silent night in Gotham, and the Batman was perched on the top of a gargoyle statue on the top of a building, overlooking the city he protected from the evil forces that lurked within and currently he was focused on an important mission.
Batman had been dealing with various issues related to Oswald Cobblepot, better known as the Penguin and a leading force in the Gotham crime underworld. He had been stealing priceless items from one of the museums so that he could display them in his club, and then his gang had somehow broken into Wayne Enterprises's technology building and stolen some valuable tech including a weapon gadget which was currently under development for future purposes.
Bruce Wayne had addressed the issue in one of his press conferences, saying that the incident was being investigated and that the criminals would be caught and punished to the fullest extent of the law. Now that night had fallen, it was time for the Batman to investigate the issue and sort this mess out completely.
It was not known where Penguin and his crew were currently known, but Batman had suspected that they had been residing in the Iceberg Lounge, a nightclub in which Penguin owned and used for his undercover crimes. Batman was watching some suspicious activity going on right now in an alley, so maybe that could hold clues.
Batman turned on his detective vision, and scanned closer into the alley, which revealed a group of five thugs, standing around a fire in a trash bin which was the only source of light in the pitch black street. Three of them were armed with baseball bats and the other two had brass knuckles, showing off their protection and it seemed they were discussing something important.
He scanned close enough to positively identify the group, and all of them were members of the Penguin's gang and had done most of his dirty work for him. Batman changed the settings of his detective vision to activate the voice scanner, and he soon heard what they were saying loud and clear.
"I guess we did good, stealing that weapon for the Boss!" said one of the thugs
"I'm with you there, along with all those priceless goodies too" replied another
"We've gotta watch ourselves though, the Boss said that Batman will be on the way since we stole some important stuff from those places"
"Batman's nothing! I bet he can't even get through us or the Penguin!"
Batman felt he had heard enough from their words to confirm that they were in the Penguin's employment, and he now decided to pay them a visit so that he could get the location of the Penguin out of them, even if it involved a few broken bones.
The Dark Knight rose slowly and silently, and then jumped off the statue, ascending downwards and then started gliding in the sky. It was some time before he managed to reach the alley, landing in a shadow area and slowly making his away towards the thugs.
Batman soon managed to make contact, suddenly appearing without warning behind one of the thugs and knocking him out cold. The remaining four were shocked by his sudden arrival and completely unprepared to fight him despite the weapons.
"B-Batman's here!" shouted the thugs
It was soon enough that the brawl started. Batman begun throwing punches at the larger thug, managing to stun him and then knocked him down to the ground. He then dodged the swing of a baseball bat and countered an incoming punch, twisting the arm around and punched the thug in the face, taking him down.
One of the thugs managed to get behind Batman and prepared to strike him from behind with his baseball bat, however it seemed Batman was aware of this and his leaped over him from the swing and the sudden throw of a Batarang knocked the bat out of his hand, leaving him defenceless.
Batman soon finished off the thugs, knocking all of them out except for one who was now lying on the ground injured and struggling to remain conscious after suffering some painful blows. He gasped in fear after seeing Batman's dark silhouette, and he was soon lifted up and pinned against the wall.
"Where is the Penguin hiding?" asked Batman in a stern voice
"I-I can't tell you that! He'll k-kill me!" replied the thug
Batman responded by delivering a solid punch straight to the thug's face, causing him to groan in pain and cough up some blood in the process. Batman noticed him slipping out of consciousness and forced him to look at him.
"I'm not in the mood for this, we can continue with this and it will only end in more suffering and misery for you, now be smart and tell me where the Penguin is located!"
"Okay, he's in the Iceberg Lounge, lower levels!"

Batman threw him down to the ground, knocking him out completely and surveyed the area to see if there was any more evidence. He saw something on one of the thug's bodies and recovered it to find out it was a Wayne Enterprises keycard, which lead him to conclude that the Penguin must have stolen them to get them all inside. He found other keycards on the other thugs too, all showing similarities to each other.
After informing the GCPD of the scene and the evidence he had recovered, Batman activated the Batmobile which soon came zooming over towards him. He then jumped inside and was soon speeding on his way towards the Iceberg Lounge.
Batman thought it would be wise to inform Alfred of the information he had gathered, so he activated the computer and soon enough, a video link was established between the caped crusader and his loyal butler.
"Good evening, Master Bruce" said Alfred
"Alfred, I have found some important evidence" said Batman
"Go ahead and tell me, Sir"
"Penguin has stolen or made copies of Wayne Enterprises keycards which explains how they managed to get into the WayneTech building and steal the weapon. I found the keycards on a group of thugs which I interrogated, and one of them told me that Penguin is in the Iceberg Lounge, so I am heading there now"
"I'll look into these right away, be careful out there"
"I'll be fine, Alfred"
Batman soon switched off the video communication and focused on the task right now, getting to the Iceberg Lounge and stopping the Penguin from proceeding with whatever dark motives he had planned for him and possibly all of Gotham.
It took some time, but Batman managed to arrive at the Iceberg Lounge which was located in the outskirts of Gotham. It was currently closed for the time being undergoing some maintenance, but that didn't stop Penguin and his criminal associates from using it undercover for their various operations.
He parked the Batmobile around the back of the building so that he wouldn't draw any attention to the criminals, and proceeded to jump out and grapple to the top of the Iceberg Lounge to survey the area and find an entrance inside.
Batman soon found a vent around the side of the building and headed down inside, eventually finding himself in the basement area, clear of all enemies. He now had to work his way upstairs to the main level and find out where Penguin was located.
It was a dark section, so Batman activated his detective vision once more and made his way to the upper section, and once he got there he found himself in the reception area, and sensed about three thugs standing down near the entrance to the main resturant.
"It looks like they need to be taken down…" thought Batman
"He saw an opening on the ceiling and grappled above to the rafters, where he silently moved closer until he was directly above the thugs. Batman then hung downwards and got out a smoke bomb, which he threw below and activated on impact, covering the thugs with a cloud of dark smoke that left them confused.
Batman then dropped down and used his stealth and fighting techniques to take them all out in the span of a few seconds, and once the coast was clear he entered the restaurant, which he surveyed and it seemed to be empty but there was an odd glow in the distance and Batman noticed it as it shined brightly and then got brighter.
It eventually revealed itself to be a small penguin waddling along towards Batman, although this creature wasn't normal as its eyes were glowing a dark red, and an explosive could be seen strapped on the back as it waddled towards the dark knight, who sensed the oncoming danger and immediately took action.
Batman threw a Batarang at the penguin bomb and it exploded upon impact, sending the fragments everywhere but Batman was unharmed as the explosive was not that powerful. He surveyed the restaurant again and now the coast was clear, but he noticed some paperwork on one of the tables which after recovering and looking through, found them to be secret plans of attacks on future businesses with usage of the stolen weapon gadget.
"I cannot let this happen, this is really bad" said Batman with concern
He then downloaded the plans to his database and proceeded to the aquarium and pool section. After entering, Batman saw a significant amount of activity down near the poolside. A large group of thugs were seen armed with machetes and submachine guns for protection and the massive aquarium tank down below was shown to have a large shark present which Penguin had used to dispose of his enemies and people who had been stealing from him, truly a horrifying sight.
It seems Penguin likes to do the dirty work most in here…"
Batman looked ahead and saw the entrance to the VIP lounge, which was most likely where Penguin was located along with the majority of his crew. He decided to go in there and investigate but he needed to take care of the thugs in the area first.
One of the thugs seemed to notice something was amiss, as he looked above and saw Batman flying down towards him and his fellow companions in the gang.
"Batman's coming!" he warned the others
All of them took action right away when the Batman landed and opened fire with their machine guns, but the caped crusader was prepared as he dodged the gunfire and deployed another smoke bomb leaving them shooting all over the place and gave him the perfect opportunity to strike them all down in the confusion, using his perfect fighting skills and techniques.
One of the thugs managed to recover and swung his machete against Batman, who dodged all of the swings then delivered a sharp punch to his jaw knocking him out cold. He took out all the other thugs afterwards and in the end, Batman was left standing.
"It's time to take this operation down" said Batman
Batman looked over and saw the VIP lounge entrance on the other side of the aquarium tank, but the glass bridge that was used previously had been destroyed in an accident leaving the vigilante to take some drastic measures to get over there.
Once it was ready, Batman got out his line launcher gadget and made sure he had the correct setting before deploying it, letting him ride on over to the VIP lounge although there was a close call when the Shark suddenly leaped up, nearly catching Batman with his teeth before ultimately failing and diving back into the massive tank below.
Batman managed to get over to the VIP lounge and headed on inside, deploying his detective vision as the section was shrouded in darkness leaving many opportunities for sneak attacks and traps set by the Penguin and his crew. He looked around and saw furniture draped in sheets, and large boxes which contained ammunition and weapons.
It seemed Batman was expected to arrive there, because as soon as he entered the main club area the lights turned on leaving the room a dark blue colour. Batman turned off his detective vision and looked around to see Penguin sitting at the bar drinking some wine.
"Penguin" Batman growled
"Hello, Batman" replied Penguin with a smile
"I'm ending all of this, and taking you down"
"I don't think that's gonna happen my friend, you see this new gadget I acquired from the WayneTech building is quite the lovely fellow to have for my future interests"
"It was stolen illegally from Wayne Enterprises by your thugs, and I have uncovered evidence of your recent crimes and the secret plans so you have nowhere left to run, Cobblepot"
"Very well, but you won't be coming out here alive"
Penguin suddenly drew a weapon from his coat and fired it straight at Batman, creating a laser energy beam that hit the caped crusader and sent him crashing into a nearby table sending debris flying all across the place showing how powerful this weapon was.
Batman groaned and regained himself, standing up to see Penguin armed with a laser weapon, which he recognised as the gadget that was stolen from WayneTech and was now being used by Penguin. It was still undergoing development when it was stolen so the damage would be unpredictable, he needed to be taken down fast.
Penguin tried to fire again but failed since he hadn't realised the gadget required time to charge up for the next blast, and this gave Batman an opening which he took advantage of and delivered a solid punch to the Penguin's jaw, sending him over the bar table.
He groaned in pain and stumbled back to his feet, reaching for his umbrella gun and opened fire on Batman, who dodged all of the bullets with his stealth and quick-timing skills, throwing a Batarang back which disabled the gun. Penguin was beginning to lose his patience, and he decided to take action.
"Boys! Get out here and kill the freaking Bat!" shouted Penguin
A large group of thugs ranging from normal to brutes revealed themselves from various places in the VIP lounge. They were all armed with various weapons such as machetes, submachine guns and brass knuckles. One of the thugs was a large brute armed with a spiked chain wrapped around his arm, and he looked very dangerous.
Batman looked at them all with a serious expression on his face before suddenly extending into a combat stance, reading himself for a large battle to come.
"Who's first, then?" Batman asked
All of the thugs then charged at Batman, who was well prepared to fight back and delivered the first blow, striking a thug in the face sending him crashing to the floor. He then launched back and swung a barrage of Batarangs at the other thugs, disarming their weapons before they could fire them and knocking down some others in the process.
One thug charged at Batman with his machete and swung it wildly at him, hoping one of the slashes would strike the Bat and leave him wounded but unfortunately all of the swings did not touch Batman, who then kicked him in the gut and sent him down to the floor, coughing up blood and eventually passing out while Batman turned his focus to the rest of them.
The other thugs tried to take down the Batman with their weapons and fighting skills but it was completely useless. Batman was far more skilled in combat and was dodging their attacks and striking them down with flawless perfection. Penguin himself was getting more frustrated as he watched his thugs be taken down by Batman, but he then smirked after seeing the massive brute had been lurking in the shadows.
Batman had now finished off the thugs and he advanced towards Penguin, who was smiling with pure evil in his eyes and this made Batman notice he was walking into a trap. Before he could react however the giant brute swung his spiked chain at Batman, striking him in the back and knocking him down.
He now advanced menacingly towards Batman, rising his spiked chain ready to strike him again. Batman groaned in pain before getting back to his feet and managing to dodge the second swing by a lucky chance before throwing a barrage of punches and kicks at the brute, who was only getting angrier from every punch.
"Enough of this!" he shouted in anger
It was another swing of his spiked chain that caused more damage to Batman, shredding through his suit and knocking him back down to the ground, groaning in pain as he tried to stand back up and defend himself only to be pinned down by the brute. Batman then watched as Penguin walked over towards him, carrying the laser weapon in his hands which was already charging up.
Penguin now pointed the laser weapon right at Batman directly between his eyes once it had fully charged up, showing that he was about to kill Batman while going for a clean shot at the same time. Batman watched the laser finish charging while still in pain from being held under by the brute.
"Goodbye, Batman!" laughed Penguin
Before he could finish off Batman, the room was rocked by a large explosion, blowing apart the wall and causing a large amount of smoke and debris to cover the room. Penguin fired off the laser weapon in the confusion managing to miss Batman and only graze the floor in the process.
A large ball of electricity then appeared and tasered the brute, leaving him stunned and stumbling backwards, giving Batman the chance to recover. He stood back up and watched the smoke clear, showing a dark figure emerging from the shadows where the explosion occurred and he recognised him as a crime fighting partner and an old friend.
"Nightwing" said Batman
"Hello Batman, nice seeing you" replied Nightwing
"What are you doing here?"
"I heard you were in trouble so I decided to help you out, and what better way to get that done than taking down the Penguin and his entire operation once more?"
"Okay, let's do this"
Batman and Nightwing teamed up and approached the Penguin as he retreated behind the bar counter and drew a pistol from his coat, firing it at the dynamic duo which only bounced off them thanks to their armour. Penguin still wasn't going down anytime soon however, and called for reinforcements.
"All of you, get out here and kill these two!" shouted Penguin
All of the remaining thugs stormed the room and immediately went after Batman and Nightwing, who launched into the group prepared to fight. Batman unleashed a barrage of punches on five thugs going from one to the other and sending them down, then dodged a machete swing and more gunfire and threw his Batarang disarming them both and finishing them off with a solid kick.
Nightwing armed himself with his twin baton sticks and proceeded to take down a bunch of thugs by clubbing them all in the face and the legs breaking them down one by one. He then dashed over to a thug before he could fire his weapon, throwing it away before throwing a brutal punch to his face knocking him out. Both of them made short work of the other thugs with their impressive fighting skills and techniques.
The large brute suddenly appeared once more and charged right at Batman and Nightwing, who managed to get out the way just in time before he crashed into the cabinet behind them sending it crashing to the ground. He recovered in time to swing his spiked chain at the two vigilantes, managing to graze them but not causing any significant damage.
"Okay, this brute is tough to engage in combat" muttered Nightwing
"Then let's take him down, together!" Batman shouted back
Both of them them charged at the brute who was about to strike them once more with his spiked chain but Batman suddenly swung his cape at him leaving him stunned and stumbling about. Nightwing then armed the taser on his baton and dove it into the back of the brute electrocuting him and giving Batman the chance to unleash a barrage of strong and brutal punches, all of them connecting and dealing significant damage.
Batman then leaped into the air and punched the brute right in the jaw, sending him careening backwards and Nightwing then delivered a sharp kick finally knocking down the brute. Batman finished him off with a knockout punch and regrouped with Nightwing.
Penguin was now shaking in fear, looking around as he saw the bodies of his henchmen knocked unconscious on the ground and Batman and Nightwing advancing towards him. The two vigilantes had taken down his operation together and now they were about to bring down Penguin, who now grabbed the pistol and pointed it at them both.
"I'm warning you, get back now!" shouted Penguin
Batman seemed to ignore that warning as he could sense that Penguin was too scared to pull the trigger. He grabbed Penguin before he could react and threw him onto the ground, and then knocked him out cold with two solid punches.
Nightwing recovered the laser weapon gadget and handed it over to Batman before sitting down on the counter and grabbing a bottle of wine, pouring it into a cup and then drinking it down. Batman watched in confusion but soon joined him, reaching out for a beer and drinking it down as well, until it was time to clean up the mess…
Batman had informed the GCPD of the chaos and they showed up soon afterwards, arresting the Penguin and his gang and sending them to Blackgate before recovering the evidence from Batman so they could build a case against this entire operation which had now been shut down thanks to the vigilante.
Batman watched the police drive off and then headed back into the Batmobile. He was worn out after all of the action and needed some good sleeping to end the night. As he put the laser weapon gadget in the Batmobile and headed inside he noticed Nightwing's motorcycle parked next to him, before the vigilante himself hopped on the bike.
"I've had enough action for one day…" muttered Batman
"I'm the same too, time to chill out…"
Both of them drove off back to Wayne Manor to eat some dinner and get some well earned rest after taking down the Penguin and his entire criminal operation together, which had worn them out greatly but in the end, another threat had been ended.
Gotham was saved once more by the Batman...
