Varekai
Our story begins in the forest of Varekai. Today is a day of celebration where everybody will be dancing and jumping. First the skywatcher comes around to cleanse the air from all offending sounds. He rolls his machine into the clearing and many of the inhabitants look at it with bewilderment. The machine has a tube where the sounds are thrown into. There is a pump, a little bag with fluid and a couple of speakers. The whole machine is mend to reduce any sound to nothing.
The skywatcher walks around the machine in happiness, looking as crazy as ever, proud of what he has made. The man has white spiky hair, is bare chested and has a crazy pair of pants on. They are yellow in colour and at the top open up like a flower with long grass leaves coming out of it.
The skywatcher stands in front of his machine and listens to the sounds of the forest. He smiles happily and calms down as he hears the birds twitter. Suddenly the sounds of a motorcycle grows and flies overhead. Skywatcher becomes angry and starts asking what it is doing there, before the twittering of birds calms him down again. He once more gets annoyed as the sounds returns and flies over again. Again he tries to explain to the sounds that it is not wanted there, but the birds calm him down once more. Finally the crazy man has enough of the obnoxious sound and stops it in its tracks. He catches the motor-sound and puts it in his machine. He pumps the pump, squirts the bag, pushes a button, whirls a van, squeezes a vent and twists a pair of knobs. At the end, the noise is gone and the bird twittering is back.
He calms down once more, before a bigger sounds comes through the clearing. This time he immediately stands before the sounds, stops it, and knocks it to the ground. The skywatcher then picks it up and puts it through his machine to get back to listening to the birds. The quite of the forest is afterwards disturbed by the sound of an irritating tune and at an unbelievable level (similar to a ringtone). The inventor took a tennis racket and hit the sound out of the air. He started playing with it as if it was a ball. Ricocheting it of the trees and making a bit of a fool of himself. He even starts bouncing it on his racket, before other sounds start to appear.
Out of nowhere the sounds of drilling and construction are filling the clearing and no matter how many he tries to stop and catch, there are too many. He starts to scream and gathers what he thinks are them all together into one block which he transforms into a boomerang. He is able to throw it and catch it once more, before a new sounds starts up. He throws the construction sounds into his machine before working on the next one. This one sounds like chainsaws cutting down the forest. The skywatcher stops it and cuts it down, making it fall like a tree. He pushes the tree upright and takes hold of it like they do in the Scottish highlands (two hands under the base). He then throws it high up in the air. After a little while it falls wright into his machine and gets cleaned up.
Skywatcher thinks the air is clean enough of all the unwanted sounds and readies himself to disappear once-more with his soundmachine. Then a little sound, a bit like an electronic buzzing insect flies around. He catches it, looks at it and thinks "What the heck, it is just a small sound." And lets it go.
It flies into the air and starts the festival of Varekai.
The people of the forest start making sounds. They stomp on the ground and call out "VAREKAI" as loud as they can. Slowly the dancers come out of the shadows and snake like beings lower from the foliage. The smaller children are scared as they look around the darkened clearing wondering what will happen next.
Then the light are lit and the music starts. All the people in the middle are shown to be happy and vibrant of colour. A pair of singers start to make sounds of happiness as all the beings in the clearing run, jump, twirl and do small tricks. Just as they are finishing their routine, a strange sound is heard from up high. When the people look up, they see a man with white wings fall down from the sky.
AN: I'm a big fan of cirque du soleil and I wondered how the stories played out in their shows would be seen by the characters themselves. That is why I have started to write this story. I hope people will like it as well. I will not put all of the acts into the story, as they don't all have a plot to tell.
