Before this gets started I would like to point out that this one shot is going to mention Star Wars a lot. Yes, it also includes The Clone Wars, (I haven't watched the finale yet so please don't' spoil it for me!) Quick thanks to AetherlightGirl for reviewing the past two one shots I posted. I'm not sure if you're reading this or not, but since I can't PM you I'm sending my thanks now. With that being said, I don't own anything Star Wars or Newsies, only OCs, I hope you enjoy this extremely fangirled one shot. I apologize in advance for, well...everything. PUNCH IT R2! *random beeping noises, *off into hyperspace*.
"Now THIS is what I signed up for! Take him down, Snips!" yelled one excited voice.
"NO! Listen to Maul and go smack some sense into Skyguy!" exclaimed another as an empty applesauce cup flew right at the TV screen.
The two newsies were on the edge of their seats as they watched the action packed episode this week had to offer. By the sounds of their excited screams and throwing of items, it goes without saying that this arch was much better than the past weeks previously held. Were they going overboard? Well, it all depended on who you asked. For the two newsies, this was just another average Friday. To everyone else, YES! It was definitely too much. For no one could sleep peacefully in the unruly hours of the morning. Why during do this at 4 A.M.? Because the duo couldn't wait until day break. Duh.
Sadly, that was just the beginning. For after the episode had ended. The two newsies would sit in silence for exactly twenty-five seconds to let the events of the episode sink in before screaming about. Talking over the other as to "discuss" before going to see how much the fandom had burned down. And though everyone awaited for the final episode to air. They also dreaded it for the heavy withdrawals the duo would go through.
Not to say everyone hated the sci-fi show. In fact, they all loved it! It's just dealing with the two geeks in a nutshell was the problem. Always having to yell "shut up" to stay spoiler free. Those who really wanted to wake up before dawn just to watch the show have tried. But couldn't take all the unnecessary screaming that came with it. Every compromise was done so the duo won't sneak downstairs before daylight. But somehow always failed in the end. Which brings us back to now. It wouldn't be much longer of course. It was only two more weeks.
"Remind me again why we can't just tie up the whackos and release them at a reasonable time?" Romeo asked with a yawn as the smell of coffee brewing and bacon sizzling filled the air as the Lower Manhattan newsies gathered in the kitchen. The sound of clinking dishes, cereal being poured, and the toaster going off, with the occasional "hot hot hot" could be heard as well. The newsies and Brooklyn were all extra tired that morning like they were every week. Being woken at four in the morning isn't something they enjoy, they'd all rather be peacefully asleep. But the sad truth was they couldn't. Not for two more weeks at least.
"Oh c'mon, we weren't screamin' that loud," Albert scoffed with an eye roll.
"Kick him where it hurts his darth butt Snips," Race mimicked right at Albert's face. "How come Maul is the only one snensein' that order 66 is comin'?! This actually makes me want to watch the trainwreck prequels. Or at least Revenge of the Sith! OH LOOK AT ALL THE REFERENCES! All. the. Connections to ROTS! Why must order 66 happen? I can't believe I'm sayin' this, but side with Mr. keeps poppin' back up like a weed to go save Skyguy!"
"Actually, that last one was Feisty," Albert replied as he pointed to the younger girl that was settled on the counter top.
"It's true and we all know it!" Feister spat before taking a bite out of an apple. "But that endin' was just, wow," she added while chewing. "You guys need to watch it ASAP."
"Oh yeah, but after I take a c=nap cause MY GIRLFRIEND IS A COMPLETE LUNATIC FOR YELLIN' SO EARLY IN THE MORNIN'!" Mush yelled. Now, he would be a bit jealous that his girlfriend had yet another bonding moment with Gingerbread boy, but he was too sleep deprived to care. "No, no, no, scratch that how is it possible I'm the one who has to literally drag you out of bed every mornin', yet you're somehow up before everyone else just to watch a show that will still be there at, oh, I dunno, a more reasonable time?!" Yup, that's right, Albert and Feister are the local Star Wars crazed fans in the Lodge. Well actually it started with Albert, but thanks to getting grounded and Feister not feeling well on one particular day, he got the younger girl into it, and now they have a bond over for the spaced themed show. And it drives everyone insane.
"Don't know, don't care, and I love ya too Mushy," Feister replied as she ruffled up Mush's hair. "But you need to go back to sleep."
"After I have my coffee," Mush replied in a voice that was a little baby-ish. He let his head lean into the nook of Feister's neck and closed his eyes when her fingers started to run through his hair.
"I don't know why you're all getting so worked up over nothing for," Brooklyn admitted with a shrug. Sure, it was annoying how Albert and Feister decided to have a scream fest for the past ten weeks. She really didn't understand what the big deal was. Even after catching a glimpse or two when the boys would watch it, it never really clicked for her.
"See! Freckles doesn't mind. Why can't any of you bummers!" Albert happily exclaimed with the biggest smile on his face.. He walked over to the blue eyed beauty and wrapped his arm around her. Brooklyn was so understanding of everything. Just one of the many reasons he loves her. Though he hasn't said that out loud just yet...he was going too. Eventually.
"Don't get ahead of yourself Red," Brooklyn replied as she unraveled herself from Albert's arm. "I'm only saying that because I've never seen Star Wars." she bit her lip and glanced down for a moment. "Well, I've seen it when you guys watch it, and know some of it. Like that little kiss with Luke and Leia.." she shuddered at that thought since they're twins and she's a...twin...yeah that's awkward to think about. Really. Really, awkward to think about.
"Ha! That's funny! Looks like I'm finally rubbin' off on ya, huh," Albert said as he nudged Brooklyn with his elbow.
"Mmmm, nope," Brooklyn replied with a little head shake. "I'm not jokin' Al. I've never seen Star-" before Brooklyn could finish Albert quickly threw her up on his shoulder and marched right over to the living room. He plopped her down on the couch and quickly started to rummage to find his DVD collection. She couldn't say anything because Albert had interrupted her. "For the rest of the weekend we're havin' a movie date! No girl of mine is gonna go without knowledge of Star Wars. and Believe me when I say I am quite the expert. I brought Feisty to the dark side and now it's your turn," he said while walking up to where she sat.
"Umm…." was all Brooklyn could say. She wasn't completely sure if this was such a bright idea. On one hand it meant she could spend time with Albert, and it was cute how excited he was getting over this. But on the other hand, binge watching nine movies for who knows how long was the iffy part.
"Ya know...if we're gonna be watchin' movies we might as well get some snacks. The usual popcorn, chips...jelly beans…" Albert trailed off. He knew very well that anything with sugar was Brooklyn's biggest weakness. She has actually dropped what she was doing just to get some. But her one true weakness is jelly beans. It was cute how she'd get all excited some a sweet treat...though Albert has had to cut Brooklyn off before she gets sugar high...eh it'll be fine.
"You bribing me Red?" Brooklyn asked as she stood up on the couch so she could look Albert directly in the eyes. Ever since they got together, she found herself ganging a little more confidence. It wasn't much, but it was enough for her.
"Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not," Albert replied with a smirk as he gently placed his hands onto her waist. "Now, a decision, you must make. Watch Star Wars with me, hhmm?" he asked in his best impression of Yoda. with the puppy dog eyes.
"Ok, fine, you win. Ya nerd," Brooklyn replied with a little giggle. But really. How could she say no to such an adorable face.
Albert beamed brightly with a wide smile as he pressed a kiss to her cheek. "You won't regret this sweetheart, I promise. You'll be just as bad as me when we're done."
"Why can't we just watch it from one to nine?" Brooklyn asked in confusion as she munched on a granola bars since Jack refused to let her, or Albert, have junk food for breakfast. So, granola was the next best thing to something sweet.
"Because my young Padawan, it goes four, five, six. Aka the original trilogy with the famous Luke Skywalker storyline. Then it's one, two, three. The prequels, not really the best movies among the Star Wars family, but they're still good in a way….between two and three it's the Clone Wars, which is a spin off of the prequel. We'll watch that after the movies so it'll be less confusing. Then of course is Rebels, which is a sequel to the prequel, but a prequel to the originals. Rogue one is basically the same thing. Prequel and a sequel. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Finally we watch seven, eight, and nine. Aka the new trilogy. Then it's the amazing two seasons of Resistance. The artwork and animation is amazing by the way. A mix of 2D and 3D-ish. That takes place just before and during seven. To end our Star Wars journey is Han Solo. It's sometime after the prequels. The Mandalorian, which is kind of a topic of debate. Technically it's supposed to be sometime after the originals, but it doesn't make any sense considering a few key factors. Well actually we watch it the originals, prequels, the new trilogy, the stories and the TV shows in order of release. We're gonna do it this way so it doesn't confuse your pretty little head."
"Say what now?" Brooklyn asked, feeling more confused than ever. It actually made her head hurt trying to comprehend all that. Maybe this wasn't such a bright idea after all. And the fact Albert's goal was to finish this before next Friday was just….how was that even going to work? The only way to do all that was to pull an all nighter! She wasn't ready for this!
"Hey, I know it's confusin', but once ya watch it it'll all make sense, alright?" Albert reassured as he plopped down next to her. "Just relax and enjoy the ride."
"I'll try," Brooklyn replied sheepishly. With that Albert pressed play. The TV went black for a moment or so before a blue text appeared on the screen that of course read "A long time ago in a Galaxy far, far, away…" there was another moment of silence. Then the sound of the opening crawl started to blare. Brooklyn settled in her seat as her eyes read the yellow text on the screen. "So how come this says episode four when it's clearly the first to have come out?" she asked.
"It was all part of the master plan from what I've researched," was Albert's only reply.
For the next few hours Brooklyn sat on the couch snacking about and occasionally getting up to get something to drink. Oddly enough, she actually found herself enjoying Star Wars. Though there were a few little moments she didn't expect, or even scared her. She's the type of person that jumps easily. Luckily she was able to calm down within a minute. Every now and again Brooklyn would ask a question and Albert would give her the answer. Though it did confuse her sometimes. At one point Albert let out a yawn, stretched out his arms over his head and casually rested one at the top of the couch cushion, just inches away from Brooklyn. Keeping his eyes on the screen he carefully let his arm lightly drop around her shoulders and pulled her closer.
"So...what's going on now?" Brooklyn asked as she looked up at the redhead with soft eyes.
"If you paid attention you'd know," Albert replied while looking down at her with a cheeky little smile.
"Maybe I wanna hear it from you," she sheepishly replied.
"Well, now Luke has to heal up after fighting Vader while Lando and Chewie go find Han," Albert explained.
"And then what happens?" Brooklyn asked with curiosity in her eyes.
"You'll find out when we watch the next movie Sweetheart," he simplely replied. There was a moment of silence between the two as they gazed into each other's eyes. Completely forgetting everything around them as the end credits rolled. Brooklyn glanced down for a moment as her stomach started to twist. She looked back up and quietly asked, "Is this the part where you kiss me, Red?"
Albert quietly chuckled. He bit his lips as he scooted closer to her. "Depends. You want me too?" he whispered in a low tone. There was a small pause before he used the hand that was tangled in her haair only moments ago to lift her cheek and slowly pull her closer as he leaned in.
Brooklyn also moved closer as her hand delicately found its way to the nook of Albert's neck. In the next second her lips met his. She held back a bit, but soon warmed up to the little moment. Her other hand eventually placed itself on his chest. When Brooklyn felt like she couldn't breathe anymore, she pulled away, and looked deeply into his eyes for what felt like forever. Then, she suddenly felt another kiss being pressed to her lips. She returned the kiss, of course, before pulling away once more and asked, "Are you gonna keep kissing me or are ya gonna switch the DVDs?"
"Who says I can't do both?" Albert asked with a smirk. He gave Brooklyn one more kiss before quickly getting up to change the DVDs. For the rest of the week the two of them could be found seated on the couch with an assortment of snacks with something Star Wars playing on the TV. It ended up turning into "their thing". And, if you were to ask any of the boys, (besides Mush of course), or Feister, they'd say it was cute watching them bond over Star Wars. Though the kisses here and there were up for debate.
Silence filled the darkness in the living room as one figure plopped onto the couch, still sleepy from being awoken in the unruly hours of the morning. While the other two headed to the kitchen to get something to eat. The duo returned to the living room to see that their new recruit had fallen asleep on the job. "Are you sure this is a good idea Al? I am not rewinding the finale just because your girl can't keep her eyes open," Feister whispered yelled at the redhead.
Through squinted eyes Albert took one look at Brooklyn. Though it was dark, he could make out that she was currently curled on the couch tightly hugging a pillow close to her chest. She mumbled something he could barely make out, and thought it was the cutest thing ever. "She'll be fine," Albert quietly whispered.
"Ok, but if you miss something I'm not rewinding," Feister replied as she plopped onto the couch and started to get all comfy. Her legs were crossed over one another as she set a pillow on top and placed her cereal bowl on the pillow. She took a scoop of food and happily munched as she looked at Albert and asked, "What're you waitin' for Red? Sit down and play it already!"
"Ok, ok, relax Feisty," Albert chuckled as he sat down between the two girls. The redhead started to set the TV up as he gently shook Brooklyn awake.
"Huh? What?" the freckled girl asked as she popped up. Soon enough TV light filled the room, so now she had a somewhat clear vision of what was going on. Albert was seated next to her, clicking away at the remote. She could hear Feister's excited, yet saddened, statements about the finale. Brooklyn slowly sat up and let her head fall onto Albert's shoulder. She let out the smallest yawn and asked, "I dunno how you two did this for the past ten weeks."
"Me neither. It's freazin' down here," said a new voice. Making he trio to see where it was coming from. Just a few feet away there stood Mush in pj pants, a hoodie, and of course his hair was the victim of bedhead.
"What're you doin' up this early Meyers? Last I checked, you were too busy sleepin' to join us," Feister replied with a little smirk. Exactly eleven weeks ago she remembered clearly trying to get Mush out of bed to join her. But Mush refused to get out of bed in the unruly hours of the morning. So seeing up and running was kind of a shock. But Feister wasn't complaining.
"Well, I kind of figued that you and Al have been bondin' over this for years, and now that my sister is into it, it ain't really your thing anymore. Plus I know it's the final and you've been excitedly sad...what I'm tryin' to say is - well you see...it's just that I don't want my girl bein' a third wheel. I know you already felt like that enough in the past..and that's mostly on my part. I regret it completely. If I had known what I know now..I'm off track. You see - basically - so-"
"Shut up and get over here already Mush for brains," Feister cut off with a little head shake. With that being said, Mush sat right down, wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close to his chest. Feister smiled and placed a light kiss on his cheek. "I love you too but, sshhhh, clone wars time. PUNCH IT AL!" the small girl screamed, causing a bunch of tired groans to come from the bedrooms above.
"Not without the help of my co-pilot," Albert replied with a smirk as he offered the remote to Feister, who smirked and placed her thumb on top of his. They pressed the "ok" button. The screen then went black. Green text appeared for a moment. The red logo came next. Finally the episode name, "Part IV", and it was off.
Author's note
Happy May the 4th to all my Star Wars lovers out there! I know it's technically impossible to watch all the movies/TV shows in a span of one week without pulling an all nighter, but for the sake of the one shot just pretend it worked out in the end. Though this was written not that long ago and I didn't have much time to edited, the end result came out lot better than I expected it to be, so that's progress for the Alblyn ship. I'll admit I was (and probably still am) iffy whenever I write for Brooklyn. But you guys keep telling me how cute she, and the ship with Albert is, so thank you so much for that. If anyone is wondering, yes. I did give myself a headache when Albert explained the Star Wars timeline. I know I've kind of put Feister on the backburner lately, but it's because I've been putting a lot of my focus into her origin story. Until then there was a little glimpse of her and Mush in here. Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed and I'll see you soon.
