Morning of Graduation Day
knock knock* "Souma kun get up, it's already 6:30" shouts Megumi banging on the door.
"Why do I have to get up so early? We have to get there by 8 right? I'll be there by then" replies Souma yawningly from inside his comforter. Souma had been up all night practicing his newest dish for a special thing he has planned.
"Souma kun you are the first seat!! You have to be there before everyone for the rehearsal and final preparations I told you yesterday too weren't u listening." Jabbed Megumi "now get up and come out in 5 minutes" she demanded with a stern tone.
"Ah alright im coming" says Souma already getting out of bed.
"Man Tadokoro has sure grown a lot, I remember when she had trouble even speaking up now look at her commanding me" reminisces Souma.
Souma gets ready and heads down where all the polar star residents are gathered. Before he even reaches down, Souma hears muffled sobs and cries. It is the voice of Yuki who is bawling her eyes out with her head buried in Ryouko's shoulder. Megumi is trying to put on a brave front but she too ends up breaking down into tears. Ibusaki is standing in a far corner with his head turned around trying to hide his tears, Souma walks up to him and puts a hand on his shoulder saying "it's alright you don't have to hide your tears, we are family after all". Ibusaki turns around and hugs Souma. Behind Souma, Zenji is standing, his spectacles wet with teardrops.
"where are Daiko and Sato?" asks Souma
"They've gone to help out with preparation" answers Fumio san, who has just emerged from the kitchen. "Come on your breakfast is ready we've already had ours."
Souma has his breakfast then they all head out after exchanging hugs and kisses with Fumio san
"Goodbye Fumio san"
"We love you Fumio san"
"Go easy on the new kids Fumio san"
"Fumio san you were like a mother to us we will always remember you"
"yeah yeah goodbye now go already" says Fumio holding back tears.
Fumio san heads inside remembering all that happened throughout the past three years and even beyond that to the time of Joichiro's batch. She feels like a proud mother who has raised so many talented chefs throughout the years.
In the Courtyard
The stage has been setup, Erina, Hisako and the Elite Ten are all gathered backstage.
"Souma you'd better not do something crazy on stage. Read this speech made by Hisako and follow it don't say unnecessary things." Orders Erina in her himedere tone.
"Yeah yeah I get it" replies Souma in his usual laid back voice.
They spend the next hour rehearsing.
"Hello everybody! I, your favorite host Urara Kawashima welcome to the annual Totsuki Graduation Ceremony"
All the boys cheer while the girls make annoyed faces.
"We will now sing the Totsuki Teahouse Culinary Academy's school anthem for one last time."
The whole 92nd generation sings the national anthem, their voices breaking because of sadness.
"Now our director Nakiri Erina sama will say a few words."
Erina walks up to the podium and begins her speech.
"Good morning to everyone. Today is the day you become adults. Everyone standing here has gone through a lot of hardship. You should all be proud of yourselves that you managed to survive for three years at the most prestigious culinary academy in the whole world. You all are now top rate chefs but this is not the end of your journey, this academy is merely a stepping stone in your journey. The real trial begins now; you will step out in to the real world and face new challenges. The skills you have garnered will be put to test and you as Totsuki students will be expected to be able to cross any hurdles without difficulty. Everyone will have higher expectations for you and that's how it should be because Totsuki has nurtured you into mature, expert chefs. I congratulate you all and wish you the best of luck in your endeavors. Dedicate your hearts and make Totsuki proud!!"
The whole crowd cheers as Erina goes off stage.
"Damn Erina that was quite the speech I'm impressed" comments Souma
"Erina you actually looked good for once" teases Alice
"Erinachhi sugoe" praises Megumi
"Was it really that good? I have Hisako to thank for writing such an impressive speech. Hisako you truly are the best assistant and friend a person could ask for"
"Tha-Thank you Erina sama. I wanted to make it a special farewell speech so I poured my heart into it I'm glad everyone liked it so much."
After that they have the award ceremony where everyone receives an apron(Totsuki's equivalent of gowns) and a graduation certificate
"And now the first seat will give the closing remarks"
Souma walks up to the stage. He unties his headband and ties on his head and then starts to speak
"I still do not consider myself the official first seat therefore *he turns towards Erina and continues* I challenge Erina to a shokugeki and only after that will I offer my closing remarks"
"That bastard even though I told him to not do anything stupid he still did. Well *giggles* I guess that's my Souma for you"
Erina walks up to the stage
"I accept the challenge. Everyone, move to the Shokugeki Arena. The final Shokugeki between me and Souma as Totsuki students will take place in an hour from now."
"you heard the director! Come on get moving to the Arena" shouts Urara.
Erina and Souma have a shokugeki and Erina wins.
"Ladies and gentleman the winner of the shokugeki is Nakiri Erina. Now as promised the first seat will give the closing remarks." Announces Urara
Souma walks up and takes the mic "Well I guess I lost again but this isn't the end I swear I will beat Erina one day. For now I will leave the first seat open and you all can fight over it through a tournament or something."
"arghh what us the saying!! How irresponsible can a person be" exclaims erina while stomping her way towards Souma. She grabs the mic from him "I am the director and it is I who will decide hoe to handle the new elite ten you are no longer the first seat, you have graduated from Totsuki now you have no power here you you IDIOT." scolds Erina then returns the mic to Urara telling her to end the event.
Erina and Souma join the others.
"No Ryo i am one point ahead you lost to me the day before yesterday"
"OUR SCORES ARE EQUAL, i have kept tabs since the very first day. The day before yesterday when u won our scores were tied you aren't ahead"
"Alright whatever helps you sleep at night" says Alice closing the argument with a smug expression
"What is that supposed to mean you-"
"Come on now Ryo-kun leave it for now its time to say our goodbyes this is not the time to be fighting, you and alice can sort it out later." suggests megumi with a soothing calm smile which calms everyone's heart.
"Hayama-kuuun" shouts professor Jun while running towards them with tears in her eyes. She runs up to him and hugs him.
"Woah there what happened, you've already said your goodbyes what's with this now. And i'm going to be back in a month anyways."
"I'll miss you Hayama-kun" says juno in a muffled voice with her head dug into Hayama's chest.
"Shun come on our ride's here" calls out Ryouko.
"oh yeah Ryouko and Shun are going to live together." says Zenji
"they sure do make for a smoking hot couple hahahaaha get it" says Yuki,laughing and then immediately she runs to Ryouko jumping into her arms and letting out her tears "I'm gonna miss you shoo much" she cries.
Ryouko wipes a tear"Me too Yuki, me too"
"Yo where are y'all going wait atleast head out together" shouts Takumi who was gone to the restroom along with Issami.
They all head out to the main gate walking away from the academy where they spent the past three years cooking,learning and enjoying together. Their time together may have come to an end but they will always remember each other as friends because the bond of friendship isn't bound by distance and they will cherish the friends they made, the things they learned and the memories they had together. They were more than friends, ... these people became family.
"Everyone come here i have something i want to give to you" calls Megumi who has opened a suitcase. Everyone comes to her and she opens a shopper taking out charms. "I made these charms for all of my friends" says Megumi misty-eyed "these are good luck charms they will protect and will also constantly remind you of me so you don't forget ever forget me."
They all break into tears hugging each other with "I'll miss you " and "i love you" being exchanged.
"Yo Souma don't think this is the end our scores are tied and one day i will challenge you again and then I will beat you once and for all"
They have all left and only Souma and Erina remain at the gate.
"They're all gone. they're really gone. They probably won't be coming back anytime soon" the realization strikes Erina now. The people who changed her and helped mould her into what she is today, the people who helped her get through troubled times, the people who treated her as family are now gone. They had left such a big impact on Erina that she could never ever forget them. Erina believes that these people are the reason that today she is the Director of Totsuki Academy.
"Yeah... they are gone. It's time for me to go too Erina. I want to thank you for being my motivation, for becoming my reason to cook and for loving me. Goodbye Nakiri Erina. Remember my promise, i will be back and i will fulfill that promise" saying this Souma gets into the taxi leaving behind a large impact on the face of Totsuki. The boy from a diner,who overtook Central along with his lover. The boy who will inspire kids from small diners for generations to come who look up to Souma and believe they can make it too.
