It wasn't every day that Angel Grove was super quiet except for today. There were no disturbances in the city, no monsters attacking downtown Angel Grove, just plain peace and quiet. Everyone was enjoying their morning with smiles and good vibes. Today was a fresh start for the new school year. It was junior year and that meant new rules, and new students. Six of Angel Grove's finest teens all gathered at Angel Grove high school for their early morning gossips and laughs while sitting at the cafeteria table."Hey guys, what teacher do you think we will have this year?" Billy asked such an astonishing question seeing that it was the first day back from summer break. Tommy, Kat, Aisha, Adam and Rocky shrugged. Tommy looked over at Billy. "You know, that's a good question. I bet we have Ms. Appleby again." Adam gave a side smirk after Tommy's answer. "I agree with Tommy. She's been our teacher for the last year and a half."

Aisha and Rocky both groaned and hoped to have a new teacher. It was their Junior year of high school and because things are supposed to change during this school year, they all didn't know what to expect. Aisha looks down at her watch and reading the time of 7:35am."I guess we will find out at 8am."

"Hey speaking of time, does anyone have time for some early morning karate drills they wanna do this morning?"Rocky stood up with some excitement on his face. Everyone else just wasn't feeling the early morning workout session. From the look of Tommy's face, he was already feeling the pain from last night. "Man, I wish I could but after last night's workout, I'm kinda sore." Rocky smiled at Tommy's comment. Tommy was known for his hard work in doing karate sessions during the week. He was a 3 time champion at Angel Grove High and one of the best student instructors for the younger kids. Rocky smiled and shook his head while taking a seat next to Aisha."Yeah, okay. Maybe another time."

Tommy smiled. "Yeah, no problem man."The six friends talked and laughed about what they did over their summer break. During the summer everyone enjoyed having the time of their lives. Catching up with family, traveling the world and even catching up on karate. Katherine was so excited as she smiled big and wide, waiting to share wonderful news with her friends. "I went to Australia with my family for a week. It was so much fun and not to mention I got souvenirs for you all."

Everyone started smiling as Katherine pulled out 5 bracelets from her bag. The bracelets she handed out to her friends were of her family tradition and hopes of good luck. Although everyone's summer went great, Tommy's on the other hand, didn't enjoy his summer very much. He did a lot of workout, karate drills and helped his mother with around the house stuff. Tommy and Kat's relationship have been a bit complicated because of how distant they became with one another. Over the summer, Tommy had made plans to spend his time with Katherine but instead those plans turned into nothing. There were signs that maybe their relationship wasn't working out for the best. Tommy puts on a faint smile while looking at the bracelet "Hey Kat, these bracelets are nice, thanks." Katherine smiles at Tommy which gave him a bit of hope that maybe something was there. Maybe their relationship could work for the better. "You're welcome."

As Tommy continues to look at the bracelet, he realizes that maybe it's time he and Kat had a talk. He looks at her while she zips up her backpack. Tommy places a hand on Katherine's shoulder. "Kat, can I talk to you in the hall for a second?" Katherine looks at Tommy with a sense of worry on her face. She knew something was wrong but she could only find out sooner rather than later she suppose."Sure"

Everyone was busy admiring the gift from Katherine to realize that her and Tommy went out into the hallway. Once they were in the hallway, a bit of tension was in the air. Katherine looked to the floor feeling that she knew what this talk was going to be about so she didn't question the motive. She just stood there quiet, waiting for Tommy to start the conversation. Tommy sighs and brushes his hair back with his hand. He felt a bit frustrated and annoyed at the fact that Katherine hasn't reached out to him over the summer. "Hey how are you? Katherine looked up at him with a faint smile upon her lips. "I've been okay. I'm really glad you like your bracelet." Tommy looks down at the floor and then back at her. "Kat, I know how much friendship means to you but you show up to school bearing gifts. I was looking forward to having a great summer with you. Is everything okay?" Katherine looks at him. She didn't want to get into this talk at the moment and because she would rather sit with their friends and talk about summer break.

"Tommy I was on vacation with my family. I don't understand why you're making such a big deal. I could have given you a call but I was really busy with family." Tommy's jaws clenched in a bit of annoyance but he held his composure and spoke with his normal soft spoken tone. "You wanna know why I'm making a big deal out of this? It's the fact that I have been reaching out to you all summer, making plans for us to spend time together. Yes, I knew you were on vacation with your family for a week Kat, but you had the rest of the summer to spend time with me. What's up with you? It's like you're distancing yourself."

Katherine fiddled with her fingers trying to find a way to tell him why she didn't want to hang out with him. Tommy stood there awaiting her explanation. He had a feeling that the answer he was awaiting was either good or bad. "Come on Kat say something?"Katherine sighs deeply and looks Tommy straight in the eyes. "Okay, I'm going to be honest with you." Tommy puts on a more serious look. He needed to know what was going with her. "Well, the reason why I didn't want to spend time with you or call you back is because...because..." Tommy furrowed his eyebrows. He still needed to know her explanation.

"Because what?" Katherine pressed her lips together with worry in her eyes. She looked at Tommy with so much emotion but at the same time she was kinda scared to tell him what it really was because she knew that whatever was going to be sad could very much be the end of their relationship. Tommy continued to out wait her answer."Just tell me."

"Okay, the reason is because...I'm seeing someone else." Tommy's expression went slightly pale for a second. He was so lost and confused. He pressed his lips together and tried to find a way to process what he just heard. He needed to know why. Why of all the times he cared so much about her, making plans, finding time to spend with her, taking her out on dates, getting to know her just for her to make the decision to see someone else. Tommy looked at her with hurt in his eyes. "Who is he?" Katherine felt so bad for telling him about her seeing someone else. She didn't want it that way but he gave her no other choice. She looked at him with a sad expression. "His name is Trevor. He's not from here but he's been my friend for a while and well, things with me and you haven't been going good. Tommy of all the days me and you would argue, he always came to my rescue and because I was very open about what was happening between us. He was there for me and when he asked me out, I accepted."

Tommy couldn't believe what he was hearing. He felt so numb, not realizing how he let yet another relationship fail. His expression had no emotion and was deeply hurt by what was said to him. Katherine placed a hand on his shoulder as he looked at her. "Tommy, I'm really sorry. I am. You know I care about you and you know you'll always have a special place in my heart. Tommy you're my best friend. But we drifted apart as a couple, can't you see that? Things haven't been right between us for 3 months. I honestly didn't want you to find out like this and I didn't want this to happen but people change over time."Tommy brushes his hand through his hair with frustration. He remembers the heartache he went through when Kimberly broke up. "Oh man, I can't believe I got broken up with for another guy? You could've talked to me Kat. We could have worked things out. You knew what I went through with Kim. You were there for me when I was feeling down and now you do this to me. Tommy's jaws clenched heavily. You're right, we are drifted apart. I had faith in our relationship, I had hope and you dropped me like I was nothing. I hope you're happy."

Tommy shakes his head in disbelief. He couldn't look at Katherine any longer. He walks away without saying another word. Katherine just stands there with a sad expression on her face. Hot tears fell down her cheeks. She felt so much guilt in her heart because she knew what she did was wrong. This was not the way their first day of school was supposed to turn out but it did. Moments later Katherine clears her face and walks back into the cafeteria and sits down at the table with her friends. They looked a bit confused and looked around not seeing Tommy anywhere in sight. Aisha and the others looked at Katherine and raised her eyebrow at her. Aisha spoke up. "Hey, where's Tommy?" Katherine didn't answer but instead she let her tears flow. She was so upset at herself for what she did. The gang gave a worried look on their faces as they all surrounded her and comforted her. "Not to pry but did you guys have an argument again?" Rocky looked down at Katherine with concern in his eyes. Katherine wipes her tears and nods. Things with her and Tommy are done for good and decided to just stay as friends. It wasn't the best time for her to let herself stay upset so she cleared her throat, dried her tears and told her friends what happened before and during summer break.

"Wow, that's crazy I didn't think anything was bad going on between the both of you. You guys seemed so normal when you would come around us." Billy sounded a bit surprised after hearing about Katherine and Tommy's relationship. Aisha placed a hand on her chest in a shocking way. "I agree with Billy. You guys were always smiling and linked to each other." Katherine shrugs and let the situation be for what it was. Dead. "Oh well. It's for the best. Besides I'm sure he went to go cool down. I mean I did hit him with bad news." The gang all continued to comfort her. They felt bad for the both of them and they also knew about the time when Kimberly left Angel Grove and broke up with Tommy through a letter. Just some relationships weren't meant to be. Soon the clock read 7:55am and the bell rings. Everyone gathered their things and headed to homeroom. Tommy was so mad at himself, at Katherine, at the entire situation. He walked over to his locker and opened it grabbing his chemistry book out of his backpack. The thoughts that ran through his mind was so upsetting and yet he was still confused as to why Katherine couldn't just talk to him over the summer about their problems. They could have worked it out and perhaps started over fresh but as Katherine put it, she was way into someone else to want anything to do with Tommy. When Tommy hears the bell ring, he grabs his backpack, closes his locker and makes his way to homeroom. On the way to class, he had to clear his head. He needed a clear conscience before stepping foot into the classroom. He already knows that once he sees Kat's face, he needed to forget about the situation from earlier, let it go and move on with his day. All the students enter the classroom and take their assigned seats. Aisha and Billy sat next to each other, Adam and Katherine next to each other and Rocky and Tommy were assigned to sit next to each other. Tommy, Billy and Adam slap handshakes and fist bumps with each other. Katherine on the other hand was looking straight ahead not wanting to eye him. Tommy took his seat next to Rocky who then leans over and whispers to him.

"Hey man, I'm sorry about what happened between you and Kat." Tommy puts on a faint smile to show that he's already and nods at rocky showing that he will be fine. A relationship is just a relationship. "For what it's worth, I'm sure someone will ease that broken heart of yours. I mean come on man, you got us and I know for sure any of us would be there for you in time of need. We were looking for you in the cafeteria..where'd you go?" Tommy scoffs and shakes his head with a smile. "I went to clear my head and to grab my book for Chemistry class after homeroom. Honestly, Rock I think I'm gonna give myself a break from dating."

Rocky raised his eyebrow at Tommy. He knew Tommy couldn't say no to dating. He knew Tommy like a deck of cards because he remembered Tommy saying that very same thing just last year until Katherine got in the picture. "Yeah right dude, I bet the next most beautiful being is gonna come through that door and steal your heart." Tommy smiles at Rocky's comment. Momentarily the teacher walks in with a lovely smile on her face. "Hello, welcome back for another year of high school. I'm excited to have all my favorite students back in my class. Tommy and Rocky looked at each other and then back at the teacher. "Yep, you were right Tommy. We got Ms. Appleby again."

Tommy gave a side smirk. Ms Appleby went on to take attendance and then turned her attention to her students. "Alright class, I would like to go over some new rules with you all. Rule one, Students must arrive to class on time by 8:00am sharp. A 10 to 15 min grace period is acceptable. The door will be closed at 8:15am and once you are late after 8:15am, it will be considered a 1 day in school detention. Rule two, Homework must be turned into me at the beginning of class time unless an excuse is given. Rule three, for most of you that..."

Ms. Appleby was interrupted by two guys who were also students in class. Of course they were known to show up to class whenever they felt like showing up. They go by the names of Bulk and Skull. They were huffing and puffing while walking into the classroom. From the looks of them trying to catch their breath, Ms. Appleby crossed her arms while her and the class looked at them. "Speaking of late", said Billy while gazing at the two of them. "You both are late Bulk and Skull. Take this as a fair warning, I was just telling everyone that coming to class late will be considered a day's detention. Don't make this a habit boys. Take a seat."

They both nodded tirelessly and did as they were told and took their seats in the back of the classroom. Ms. Appleby clears her throat and continues what she was speaking to the class about. "Now as I was saying, Rule three, for most of you that like to stay after class to get tutor help in the classroom, tutoring will now be moved over to the east side of the school in the library instead of the classrooms. Now does anyone have any questions?"

"NO!" The class then sat silently as the Principal Caplan showed up at the classroom door. Ms. Appleby walks over to the principal and spoke with him and momentarily she returns with a person who is now the new student of Angel Grove High. Tommy's eyes fell onto this figure he saw walk into the class. He was a bit lost for words. The girl had hair that was nice and curly down to her shoulders and she wore a purple shirt with blue overalls. He couldn't help by how beautiful she was. Rocky looks over at him and starts giggling. "Hey Rocky, who is she?" Rocky looks at Tommy smiling. "I don't know man, I'm just as lost as you are. You should see your face right now. You sure you wanna take a break from dating?" Tommy broke his gazed from the girl and furrowed his eyebrows a bit as he turned to look at Rocky. "Yeah man I'm sure. Hey, she might be beautiful but I think I will take things slow of course." Rocky shook his head with a side smirk. Rocky playfully elbowed Tommy in the arm. "Yeah okay man, if you say so." Tommy smiles and shakes his head while he focused his attention back on Ms. Appleby.

Once Ms. Appleby was done talking to Principal Caplan, she turned her attention back to her students. " Alright class, I want to introduce to you all, a new student. This is Imogen Stone. She's new to Angel Grove High School, so I want you all to make her feel welcomed. Go ahead and introduce yourself Imogen." Imogen was a bit nervous. She didn't know what to expect of others because she was new and because she wasn't from Angel Grove, California. "Hi, my name is Imogen, I am from Pasadena. This is my first time here." The class all welcomed her with hellos. Ms. Appleby smiled sweetly at her class and looked over at Tommy. "Tommy, would you be ever so kind as to show her around school after homeroom?" Tommy smiles and nods. "Yeah sure Ms. Appleby." Ms. Appleby continued to smile as she placed a hand on Imogen's shoulder "Great. Imogen dear you can take a seat behind Katherine."

Imogen smiles and takes her seat behind Katherine who turns and greets her with a handshake. "Hi, Imogen, I'm Kat, It's very nice to meet you". Imogen shakes her hand and smiles. "It's very nice to meet you." Imogen and Katherine focus their attention towards the teacher as she begins to start class with a discussion on new material for the semester. This semester is going to turn out to be just what every student needs. More homework. The morning has gone by so far very smoothly. Ms. Appleby was teaching her lesson plans while the students paid close attention to details. The clock reads 10:30am as Kat looks up at the clock and sighs. "Okay class, I will be assigning partners for your scavenger hunt for this week. For the scavenger hunt, you will have to find various items on your list and bring them back to me in a jar or bucket. The first team to bring back the items by the end of the week, will earn extra credit and movie passes to see any movie of your choice."

The class murmured at each other with smiles. "This is going to be spectacular," said Billy. Aisha smiles at Billy's comment. "Please keep in mind that you have all week to find these items. Now let's go ahead and start pairing up assigned partners. Aisha will be partnered with Rocky, Billy you're partnered with Adam, Katherine you're with Tommy... And..." Ms. Appleby was stopped in mid sentence as Katherine spoke out loud. "Wait, Ms. Appleby, can I be partnered with Imogen?" Katherine looks over at Imogen who smiles at her. "Well, I don't see why not. Okay, Katherine you will be partnered with Imogen and Tommy you will be partnered with Rocky and Aisha. Tommy smiles and fist bumps with Rocky while Katherine rolls her eyes at them. Rocky leans over and whispers to Tommy. Rocky placed a hand on Tommy's shoulder. "Hey man, don't let your break up with Katherine get the best of you. You guys are still friends and we're a team, remember?"

Tommy sighs and nods his head. He knew he couldn't let their breakup get in the way of their friendship. They were the power rangers and they needed to stick together as a team, no matter what happens. Meanwhile, with class still in session, Ms. Appleby passes out the list of items needed to be found for the scavenger hunt. Momentarily, the clock strikes 12:00pm as the class bell rings. Everyone in the classroom started packing their things for their next class and exited out leaving Katherine, Billy, Aisha, Adam, Tommy and Rocky behind. Rocky and the other others were holding a conversation with each other while Tommy focused his attention over at Kat who was in the middle of putting her things away inside her folder. He felt something had to be done and that he needed to take desperate measures to make things work between the both of them. He takes a deep breath and walks over to her. Kat looks up at Tommy with a faint smile on her face.

"Yes Tommy? Are you going to be mad at me again and walk away like you did earlier?" Katherine held her head down looking at an empty desk. " Wait, Kat just hear me out. Please" Tommy wanted to clear the air between the both of them. Katherine sighed and gave Tommy her full attention. Not minding what she was working on or what she was doing. She needed to hear what he had to say as Tommy spoke softly."I get that things haven't been great between us. I apologize for walking away, but I just want you to know that I forgive you and that we can still be friends." Katherine smiled lightly at him because she knew that he couldn't stay mad at her but it was still eating her up inside because of the situation. Her expression became serious again. "Tommy, you were right, i should have talked to you. We could have resolved this a better way but instead I was too selfish and stayed away."

Tommy placed a hand on her shoulder and gave it a small squeeze. Tommy felt a lot better after clearing the air with Katherine. He still needed to come to terms with accepting that Katherine left him. "Hey there's no point in me staying mad about it. What's done is done." Katherine smiled with a nod as her and Tommy both agreed to stay friends. Soon the rest of the gang were heading out as Tommy and Katherine both followed behind them. By the lockers, Imogen stands there gathering her books for her next class. She grabs her chemistry book and folders and closes her locker. Suddenly she bumps into someone as she and her books fall to the floor. She looks up and sees a guy with long dark hair and wearing white. "Hey, I'm so sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going." Tommy helps her up and reaches down and grabs her things and hands them to her. "No, it wasn't your fault. I should have been looking up." Imogen dusted herself off and looked up at him smiling. Tommy smiles down at her as she did the same in return. He soon recognizes her from class. "You're the new student from homeroom." Imogen nods "I'm Tommy" Tommy stood there with a handsome look to him. He puts his hand out to her awaiting a handshake. "Imogen. Yeah it's my first day" Imogen looked at Tommy thinking to herself. "He is so good looking, I have to get to know him." Imogen felt a bit of nervousness in her gut. "It's nice to meet you."They shake hands with one another. "Likewise". Tommy stands there taking in her beauty for a few minutes and then smiles. "I'm guessing Ms. Appleby still wants me to give you the grand tour of Angel Grove High?"Imogen shrugs. "Yeah, I suppose so." Tommy puts on his charming smiles trying to impress her with his good looks. "Well, what are you doing right now? Imogen didn't have anything specific planned at the moment except for getting some food into her system. "I was just about to go grab lunch. Kind of starving, I skipped breakfast this morning."

"okay, how about after lunch period, I can show you around?" Imogen places a sweet smile on her face."Yeah that would be great."

"Awesome but i'm sure you don't know where the cafeteria is, do you?" Imogen giggles. "You're right." Tommy touches her shoulder with yet another charming smile. "Come on, I'll walk you."Tommy and Imogen walked off towards the cafeteria together holding a conversation with one another.

A/N: Hey everyone, this is just the first part of the story. I will have the second part hopefully done by this weekend.
