(The Nazi on the Honeymoon)
Thank you for reviewing my story. I appreciate it.
I don't own Bones.
Oooooooooooooooooo
Buenos Aires, Argentina. Booth had read about Buenos Aires online and he had thought it sounded exotic enough to be a great Honeymoon spot. 8,391 miles between them and Washington D.C. There was no way they could be called by anyone to solve a murder which meant that he had Brennan all to himself. Now that was his kind of a honeymoon.
Brennan liked Buenos Aires, but not for the reasons Booth did. It was a historical city known for its preserved eclectic European architecture and rich cultural life. She'd been there before and found the city to be fascinating. Its political history had been turbulent and Brennan had been there ten years earlier to help identify the Desaparecidos, the Disappeared. They were political dissidents that were tortured and then executed by the Argentinian government during the Dirty War. "Booth, I saw something amazing the last time I was here that I'd like to show you."
In a great mood, Booth quickly agreed to go with his bride to see this amazing thing she wanted to show him. He should have known better, but he didn't. "You got to be kidding me, Bones."
But she wasn't. The coroner's office was the last place that Booth would have thought of as amazing, but Brennan was Brennan and she never seemed to be able to let work go. While they were there, they met the coroner, Letitia Perez and were shown some of the bones of the 'Disappeared'. Booth had thought that would be that, but of course it wasn't. His bride had noticed a discrepancy in some of the bones she was looking at and it appeared that some of them were from recent times and not from the past. The Dirty War had occurred between 1976 and 1983 and these bones were not that old. Of course, Brennan wouldn't let it go and insisted on solving this mystery.
At first, Booth had balked. He was on his honeymoon after all, but he soon realized that he would have to help solve the mystery so they could eventually get back to the fun things newlyweds did. He understood the person whom he was wed to and he was aware of her tenacious personality, her compulsion to stop murderers from getting away with their crimes, her need to get justice for the wronged and he loved her for it.
They worked with the local police and long distance with the squints at the Lab and eventually solved the crime. The coroner Letitia Perez had killed her grandfather who was a former Nazi who had served under Hitler because he had offered her his stolen treasures. Much to his anger and disgust, she had refused them. She hated what he stood for and she couldn't let him corrupt her. He had called her weak and a mestiza. She had lost it and hit him until he died.
Though Booth had actually enjoyed working with Brennan on the case, he wanted to spend the rest of their honeymoon, doing things newlyweds did. No more bodies, bones or murders.
"That was fun, Booth. We worked together and solved a murder and in a foreign country. It was very satisfactory." Brennan had loved working on a crime in Argentina. She had worked in foreign countries identifying the victims of war and pogroms, but she'd never had the opportunity to work on a murder case in South America before and she had loved the experience.
"Well, I'm glad you can check that one off of your bucket list, Bones." Booth was sure that if she had a list like that, solving a murder in Argentina was on the list. "So, now that we're done and Ms. Perez is in jail for murdering her grandfather, we can do some more fun stuff." Spotting an empty table near the pool, Booth pointed at it and ushered Brennan towards the table. Once they were seated, Booth leaned forward and smiled at her. "Okay, how about tonight, we can go dancing, find a restaurant that believes in candle light dining and then go back to our hotel room for some intimate dancing. Um, sounds like fun, right?"
The eager look on Booth's face made Brennan's heart beat faster. Clearly, he was enjoying being with her and he wanted to make their evening even more intimate. "That sounds wonderful, Booth. I'm glad you enjoyed working with me on the case, but I do think there are other things we can be doing to make our honeymoon more memorable."
"Well, it's already memorable, because I'm here with you." Booth reached out and placed his hand over her hand.
"That's so romantic, Booth." Brennan had accepted a long time ago that Booth was a romantic person and she wasn't, but she did try. "I also have an idea for a memorable evening. We can stay in our hotel room and have lots of sex. Of course, we should dine in the room as well. That way we won't have to dress. We can have sex then dine and then have more sex."
He thought her idea better than his. "Well, we'll have to wear robes when the waiter brings our dinner, but besides that, an excellent plan. We'll do that instead of my plan."
Concerned that she was disappointing him by overriding his plans, Brennan clasped his hand tightly. "Booth we don't have to give up on your plan if you don't want to. I was merely making a suggestion. If you really want to go dancing, we can. Investigating the murder was my idea and I don't want you to think that I don't value your ideas. I don't want us to do only the things that I find interesting. It is your honeymoon too."
Snorting, Booth shook his head. "I know it is, Bones. I really like your plan better. We can always go dancing tomorrow."
"Alright." A feeling of happiness flooded her body. "I'm happy, Booth. Are you?"
"You better believe I am, Bones." He was certain he couldn't be happier if he tried. "Thank you for marrying me, I love you so much."
The huskiness of his voice made her feel a tingle run down her spine. "I love you too, Booth."
Oooooooooooooooooo
They spent the next few days walking around Buenos Aires, taking pictures of the architecture, eating in small intimate cafes, swimming in the Rio de La Plata, snorkeling and just relaxing on the beaches. Booth was so relaxed and happy he wasn't sure he wanted to go back home. Brennan was a wonderful companion and he had never known someone that he wanted to be with more than her. She had fascinated him from the moment he had met her and he considered it his lucky day when they met again. Fate meant for them to be together and even if she didn't believe in fate, it didn't make it any less true.
They had only two more days and they'd have to return home when Booth and Brennan were interrupted in their hotel room by a knock on the door. Grabbing their robes, they both dressed for the sake of modesty and Booth hurried to the door to see who was bothering them. Opening the door just a crack, Booth spied Detective Raphael Valenza standing in the hallway and wondered why. What the hell? Moving the door so it was open enough for Valenza to see him, Booth glanced down the hallway and saw that no one else was around. "What can I do for you?"
Valenza wasn't unaware that Booth was dressed in a robe at three in the afternoon, but he decided to continue his mission anyway. "Yes, I was wondering if you'd be interested in working another case with me? It is very mysterious and I feel that you might be very interested. It involves an American who . . ."
"No!" Booth slammed the door and locked it.
Curious, Brennan called out to Booth from their bed. "Who was it and what did they want?"
"It was some guy trying to sell me something. I told him no." There was no way Booth was going to waste the last few days of his honeymoon investigating another murder. It was bad enough that he got called in at all hours of the day and night at home, but he was on his honeymoon and he had to put his foot down. Slipping his robe off, Booth let it fall to the floor as he advanced towards the bed. "So, we did page 187 and it was interesting. Want to try page 93 or . . ."
Ooooooooooooooooooo
They're honeymoon over, Booth and Brennan were sitting in the airport waiting to board their plane for their return trip home. Reminded of another time and place, Booth leaned closer to Brennan and smiled. "Remember when we first met? That guy was trying to pick you up and you didn't want to be picked up? What an asshole . . . anyway, I wish I'd got your phone number before I ran for my plane."
Thinking back to that day, Brennan nodded her head. "I remember. I really didn't need your help, but it did make that man go away faster. He was being a little bit too persistent."
"Yeah, some guys just won't take no for an answer." Booth watched a man race by obviously in a hurry to get somewhere. "I know you can take care of yourself now, but I didn't know it then. I just wanted to make sure that guy left you alone."
"Well, he left me alone afterwards, so I did have some peace while I waited for my flight." Brennan hooked her arm around her husband's arm. "It's odd that we met so young and then again later when we were established in our chosen fields. I'm glad that we did though . . . meet again later. You are a very interesting man, Booth."
It was an odd compliment, but then Brennan didn't give out normal compliments. You had to earn them from her. "That's why you like me. I'm not dull and boring."
"You're definitely not dull or boring. You're interesting and you make my life interesting." She knew that if she had never met Booth, her life would probably been duller and she would probably have remained unattached and lonely. She had not searched for companionship or someone that she would like to live with for the rest of her days, but she had found him and she was grateful that she had. She had given up on love when she was fifteen years old, but Booth had shown her that love was real and she could trust him no matter what the circumstances were. She didn't believe in luck, but sometimes it seemed that luck believed in her.
