Baby Fantomah was crying in a huge mess of jungle leaves, leading a big old she ape named Fanra to rescue her from the wicked ancestor of Shina, Toron. Toron was interestingly the leader of his troop, which formerly included the elderly Fanra herself. Indeed, Fanra got abandoned by such a troop! Fantomah glowed in fluorescent cyan when upset, so the ape quickly had to get her out of Toron's wrath. As a result, she'd be raised in the jungle by two old apes for decades.

She grew into a preteen, acted like her furry peers and swung through the treetops using only her hands. As Fantomah had no real friends, she was totally lonely and evaded the poaching radar many times. Because of this, she developed her ruthless ways of killing anyone who dared to destroy her rainforest home. However, she also had to sacrifice her furry adoptive grandparents in exchange for rediscovering her birth mother's shamanry. Before even learning to speak, she had to do graffiti in the house that belonged to her birth mother, the master of all jinns.
