Sha're's Gift
Sha're held her Daniel as she saw the results of the assault on the Abydos gate room.
She started to cry when she realised that Skaara was gone.
Then the realisation struck her that she too would be gone if she hadn't gone to get Kasuf to care for her daughter Claire while she accompanied Daniel to the cartouche room.
Crying into Daniel's shoulder he guided her out of the Abydos gate room and then they walked to Nagada to collect their daughter from Kasuf.
Daniel and Sha're discussed the situation while walking to Nagada and had decided to help fight the Goa'uld and get Skaara and the others back.
To do this required a sacrifice on Sha're's part.
She would have leave her people and travel to the first world so she could be with her husband as tradition dictated.
Sha're was scared and excited at the same time to be travelling though the ring of the gods.
Still when she explained the situation to Kasuf he understood.
A wife goes and lives with her husband's clan and as Daniel's clan needed him he had to return to the first world so Sha're and their daughter Claire would go with them.
Major General George Hammond was surprised when SG-1 returned not only with the wayward archaeologist but also with his wife and child in tow.
Sighing at all the paperwork this would cause he instructed SG-1 and guests to head to the infirmary and then to come to the briefing room for the debriefing.
Sha're looked at all the god magic and strange people around her.
She kept a close eye on her daughter Claire though she smiled at the chief healer who bounced Claire on her knee as she carried out additional tests.
The only time Claire cried at all was when they stuck numerous needles in her and even drew some of her blood.
Though Sha're couldn't complain as they have done the same to everybody yet she Claire and Daniel seemed to get more needles than the others.
So Sha're was surprised when much to her amazement Claire stopped crying when the chief healer unwrapped as strange multi-coloured object on a stick and stuck it in Claire's mouth.
This action stopped Claire crying immediately and as she smiled and sucked on whatever the healer had given her.
Sha're was then shocked when her Daniel and the others left her and Claire with the healers.
She didn't know what to do and the chief healer obviously saw the worry on her face and unwrapped another strange multi-coloured object on a stick and gave it to her.
When she put it in her mouth she realised it was sweet and tasted different so it was no wonder Claire was so happy.
As she and Claire sucked on the objects under the supervision of the healers Sha're wondered if this was anything like the chocolate that Daniel had given Kasuf and her.
Major General George Hammond was developing a headache.
He had already allowed Captain Carter through the stargate to a potentially hostile environment in contravention of the women in combat rules.
And here they were arguing that not only that she should be allowed to go on yet another mission that they had now positively determined was a base for hostile aliens.
Slamming his hand down on the table to get some quiet he said, "Captain Carter and Dr Jackson as much as I would like for you both to going on the next mission the answer is no.
Captain the rules state that no woman is to be allowed in a close combat arms unit. You only went to Abydos as a technical specialist.
And the same applies to Dr Jackson as a civilian technical expert he won't be going through the stargate either.
Though if he agrees and goes through basic training I might be able to get him a special commission but that will be something that he'll have to think about and discuss with his wife.
As for Mrs Jackson and the child they are being registered as we speak as the spouse and child of Doctor Jackson.
The child will be registered as an American citizen but Mrs Jackson will have to undergo the same residential requirements as any other spouse that returns with her American husband.
The rescue mission is approved but only combat arms troopers will be allowed through the stargate into hostile environments.
Dismissed people."
As Daniel walked back to the infirmary to collect Sha're and Claire he thought about what General Hammond had said.
If Daniel wanted to continue going through the stargate on a regular basis he was going to have to join the military and get that special commission.
He would discuss the situation with Sha're and see if she would agree to the potential change of his career.
As Daniel and Sha're settled into their temporary housing, Daniel thought about the decision they had just made.
Sha're had agreed that Daniel needed to be able to travel through the ring of the gods and if that meant that he had to be similar to Jack then so be it.
But first Daniel was going to take his family on a road trip to show Sha're and Claire the US Capital and other sites of historical interest.
Sha're was astounded by what she had seen so far.
Mount Rushmore had left her speechless but it was here in the Smithsonian Institution that found her speechless at the diversity of culture that her husband's planet displayed.
It was then that the young family came to view the Crystal Skull that had been discovered by Daniel's grandfather Doctor Nicholas Ballard in Belize in 1971.
Sha're held her husband's hand while she carried Claire in a baby sling.
While she stared at the crystal skull she noticed that skull started to emit a yellow glow and hearing the gasps of other patrons of the museum she said to Daniel, "Daniel is this supposed to be happening?"
Daniel just stared at the glowing skull in awe at the sight but before he could respond to his wife's question the young family was enveloped in the yellow glow and disappeared.
All of this was of course captured on the video cameras of the tourists and the surveillance equipment of the Smithsonian Institution.
This disappearance of the Jackson family caused a storm of questions which included Doctor Nicholas Ballard being retrieved from the asylum he resided in as it was now obvious that his demented ranting of having seen giant mist aliens was probably more factual than had been previously believed.
President Bill Clinton stared at the surveillance footage with dread.
He had only just signed into law the secret stargate command as a subdivision of the Airforce and now something weird had happened at the Smithsonian Institution bringing all the alien conspiracy nuts out claiming this as proof that aliens exist.
What was more concerning was that the investigative journalists were already starting to ask where Doctor Daniel Jackson has been for the last few years.
Bill had already summoned General Hammond and the Joint Chiefs of Staff to discuss what should be announced regarding Doctor Jackson and the stargate.
He was sure that the cat was out of the bag and it was only a matter of time before news of the stargate leaked to the press.
Now he and his military experts had to decide what to release to the public.
And that was a problem in itself as they knew virtually nothing except for the fact that some weird arse aliens had abduction some aliens and some other humans from another planet.
The Jacksons woke in a dimly lit room.
Daniel thought back to the weird stories that Nick had told him when he was younger and nothing what he saw matched what Nick had described.
Besides Nick had always claimed that the crystal skull had given off a bright white light not the yellow that they had seen.
Hearing a whimper of alarm Daniel reached for his wife and daughter and comforted them before standing up and seeing an identical crystal skull in the room they were in walked over to it.
He had been staring into it for several minutes when Sha're approached and said, "Daniel we really need to explore to find out where we are and how to get home."
Daniel merely nods at his wife and taking her by the hand led her out of the room and in to a corridor that started to light up as they progressed down it.
It suddenly dawned on Daniel that the room and the corridor weren't made of stone but some kind of strange metal.
Then his archaeological brain started to kick in and he realised that the room and corridor were remarkably clean for some dwelling that had been abandoned.
The young family reached the end of the corridor and came across a solid wall at the end the only identifying feature on it was a handprint with three fingers imprinted into the wall.
Daniel didn't know what to do when his daughter reached out and placed her hand in the impression which lit up before the wall before them dissolved before their eyes.
Walking through the new doorway left the young family stunned.
Strange consoles placed before throne like chairs filled the room but it was the view that left them stunned.
For the view showed an alien vessel bathed in the glow of four stars.
Daniel ranked his brain for the closest twin binary star system to Earth but for the life of him couldn't even think of one binary system let alone of a twin one.
He now wished that Samantha Carter was with him as he was sure the astrophysicist would have known the location of the closest one.
Yet knowing their location wouldn't solve their problem of being stranded in an alien space ship god knows how far from the earth.
It was at this time that Claire started to cry wanting to be fed and Daniel was happy for the first time that Sha're had continued the custom of breast feeding past the first couple of years.
Looking for somewhere to feed her daughter Sha're sat down in a throne like chair that was separated from all the others and stared to feed her daughter.
As she relaxed with the natural bonding of a mother feeding her child she lent back and found the throne like chair reclining with her.
Startled she grabbed one of the armrests to try and pull herself upright when something on the armrest lit up and there was a strange ping like sound before an image appeared before them.
Daniel and Sha're stared in awe at the creature that appeared to be a cross between a Koala from Australia and a Ewok from Starwars.
Of course that was only if you took into account that those creatures were eight feet tall which kind of explained to Daniel why the rooms and corridors were so large.
They were still staring at the image when it spoke in what to Daniel appeared to be some dialect of one of the Mayan language groups.
Daniel tried to communicate with the image first using what little he knew of the old Mesoamerican languages and then in frustration other languages.
It wasn't until he reached to the Greco Latin language groups that he noticed the difference.
The image seems to speak some type of Latin that was too obscure for him to make out more the three words in ten.
Then to his surprise it switched to attic Greek which allowed some form of communication.
Daniel was surprised when he spoke to Sha're in both Abydonian and English that the hologram that he assumed was trying to communicate with them started to use English and Abydonian words.
It quickly became apparent to Daniel that this hologram might be more than just a simple recording as it was changing how it spoke as it was obviously listening to what they were saying and adjusted it accordingly.
Wanting to ensure that both he and Sha're understood what the hologram was saying he started pointing to objects on the bridge of the vessel pronouncing them in both Abydonian and English which the hologram repeated after him.
Soon the hologram was displaying various objects for Daniel to identify which eventually led to the hologram that Daniel was starting to suspect was an actual artificial intelligence to be able to converse in both Abydonian and English.
Soon the Holographic AI said, "This was the location of our greatest experiment and our greatest folly.
We had already saved many human cultures from the Goa'uld but then a great experiment was proposed, the uplifting of a human culture that could lift the burden that had fallen upon the four great races.
By the time this project was started the Ancients, the creators of the stargates were already dying and sort immortality in ascension.
We the Furlings had already discarded our physical form for bodies of crystal which were eventually discarded as we too discovered how to ascend.
Only we disagreed with the Ancients that there should be no interaction between the higher and lower plains of existence.
Our great experiment continued but cracks were showing in the civilisation we had developed.
The earth stock humans resented the bio-machines we created in their image and this led to war.
The war went through several generational cycles before both sides had virtually destroyed each other and the worlds we had terraformed for their use.
In the end the scant handful of survivors went their own ways.
The human stock returned to the earth but the bio-machines took a different path they saw the hardships experienced by the human slaves of the Goa'uld and decided to repay us by assisting what you would call the Abydonians.
Through few in number they were stronger than normal human stock and they quickly helped improve the Abydonian genome by interbreeding with them.
That is why Sha're and Claire can activate our technology.
I know that you travelled here from the first world of the Tau'ri so I know you must have some contact with the Abydonians so I bequeath this vessel and its technological marvels to the Abydonian people.
If the people of the Tau'ri want access to this technology then they can only do so through the friendship and assistance of the Abydonians.
I will now take you back to the Earth so that you can rejoin your peoples."
The disclosure of the stargate caused both anger and excitement across the earth.
Many countries with population issues wanted to use the stargate to find worlds to colonise but all knew that there was an issue with these Goa'ulds.
As the stargate program had only been operating for a few scant months it was acknowledged that the Americans knew not much more than they had already disclosed.
And this was the problem they knew that the Goa'uld's were hostile but nobody knew why.
These questions needed to be answered before any expansion of off world colonies could be contemplated.
After much discussion and debate a new multinational program was created involving the militaries of nearly every nation on earth.
Because the USA had the stargate they got to nominate one of their own as the military head of the program.
So George Hammond was amused to find himself promoted to four star rank and head of the Stargate program.
Then the Russians discovered the original control device in one of their warehouses of Nazi plunder and they used their possession of this device to get one of their generals installed as the second in command of the stargate program.
Of course with the stargate program being public meant that it needed political oversight and as it was now a United Nations sponsored program saw the United Nations Security Council acting as oversight for the operation of the Stargate program.
The political oversight was still being determined when a massive alien space ship appeared at the L5 LaGrange point and just sat their ignoring all forms of communication but it was the reappearance of the Jackson family at an undisclosed location that the crystal skull had been transported to for further study that really threw the cat amongst the pigeons.
Through the disclosure process the Abydonians had been forgotten but now they suddenly became far more important as it soon became public knowledge that the alien vessel in earth orbit and the technology it possessed was tied to the Abydonians.
Thus the deferred rescue mission was cancelled in favour of a return to Abydos to ensure their protection so that they could provide the manpower that would enable the alien vessel to be used for the benefit of both the Earth humans and the Abydonians.
Sara O'Neill didn't know what to make of the message she had received from Jack wanting them to try again.
Sure Jack was now famous and had been promoted to brigadier general but his role was now public relations for the stargate program something she was sure he had hated.
But she was somewhat proud that he had disregarded his orders and saved the Abydonians and he was being rewarded for it.
Of course General West had been forced into retirement after the public outcry of what he had ordered the first mission to do.
Still she didn't know how to answer Jack's request.
In the end she decided it didn't hurt to talk and maybe that alien technology could solve her reproductive problems and she and Jack could have more children.
The disclosure of the stargate sent the academic community into an uproar.
Doctor Daniel Jackson had been right all along and those who had vilified his theories suddenly found themselves on the outer with funding going to the more radical or outspoken theories.
When Doctor Jackson returned with his family he found himself inundated with offers of not only employment but tenure at any institution of his choice.
Even Sha're Jackson was offered employment regardless of her lack of academic credentials as the only native speaker of Abydonian / Ancient Egyptian currently on the earth she was in much demand so that she could correct the errors in the ancient studies programs.
And then there was Doctor Nicholas Ballard who after having basked in the light of being proved right accepted a prestigious position with Princeton University while always being on call to the Stargate program.
The academic community threw its full weight behind the stargate program chasing anybody with academic credentials who they could poach and then could second back to the stargate program.
After much thought and knowing that as an airforce officer she would have little chance of travelling through the stargate saw Samantha Carter resign her commission in the airforce and take tenure at Caltech which of course immediately made her available to help with the alien technologies.
Kasuf was stunned when only a few months after Sha're and Daniel had left to find the missing Abydonians that they were back but they didn't return alone.
They returned with a group of Tau'ri called doctors without borders and the UN high commission for refugees.
He didn't know what all the fuss was about but Sha're and Daniel finally managed to explain that these people were here to make sure that the Abydonians or their Tau'ri cousins didn't make each other sick.
One thing that astonished Kasuf was one of the first things these UNHCR people did was drill a well into what they called an underground aquifer to supply the Abydonians with plenty of fresh water.
Still he knew that the Tau'ri wanted something from the Abydonians and they had already set up a base in the pyramid and had even placed an iris on the ring of the gods to prevent any unauthorised access.
He only hoped that all this help didn't come at too great a price as his people could only mine so much naquadah.
General George Hammond just had to laugh as he watched Brigadier General Jack O'Neill try to explain the first batch of technology that the Furlings AI had provided them.
Jack had wanted big honking space guns instead he got little molecular machines that converted garbage and other nuclear and industrial wastes into harmless elements.
The Greenies were of course over the moon that these molecular machines were going to clean the land, air and waters of the earth of all the man made contaminates but just seeing the look on Jacks face as he tried to explain their operation was priceless.
He would have preferred Doctor Samantha Carter in this role but she was too busy studying the stargate and the dialling device to be troubled with a public relations exercise but at least the UN was happy with the first technology received from the Furlings.
Cleaning up the environment was a good political move especially as it meant that no nation had to cut their carbon emissions and could continue as they had.
Politicians always loved to look good in the public as it generally won them votes for re-election so they embraced the technological with both hands.
Jack looked on as Daniel and Sha're discussed his and Sara's problems with the Furling AI.
This was his first time on board the Furling vessel and he couldn't even get it to give him a glass of water.
Even Daniel could only operate the most basic functions but Sha're on the other hand could do everything it appears.
And this was going to cause problems as Sha're was pregnant again and the AI had informed her that she wouldn't be allowed to use the transmats in another two months' time.
This was going to cause all types of issues until a newly minted Captain John Sheppard had been discovered to have both the Ancient gene like Jack and bio-machine Furling gene as well.
The AI thought that this was probably a result of one of the humans that had returned to the earth from the Cyrannus star cluster was either the child of a bio-machine or one or more of the bio-machines had returned to the earth with the remaining humans.
Once Captain Sheppard's ability was discovered he was immediately seconded to stargate command and was now receiving a crash course on how to pilot a Furling shuttle craft.
Jack thought it was a good thing that the Furlings were so good with what Doctor Samantha Carter referred to as nanotech as the seats in the shuttle and the Furling mother ship now seemed to adjust to human form automatically.
The shuttle craft would help with the transport and space lift problems facing the Earth and Abydos as for some reason the AI wouldn't help with this while Sha're wasn't on board and the other Abydonians didn't know enough yet to help.
Still when Sha're went on maternity leave stargate command would be up the smelly creek without a paddle.
Finally after what seemed like hours Sha're turned to Jack and said, "General O'Neill while we may be able to help with you and your wife's issues we really need to study your both to determine the best course of action.
If you could arrange a time for you and your wife to be available then we will be able to find some kind of solution to your issue."
With this said Jack was beamed back to stargate command to continue his role as chief public relations officer for stargate command.
Apophis and Klorel were putting the final touches to their plan to destroy the Tau'ri as they had progressed too far for the Goa'uld to tolerate their existence.
Little did the two Goa'uld know it but the situation had changed somewhat since they got their intelligence from their captives.
Meanwhile on the earth interest in everything stargate related has reached an all-time high.
With such interest the pentagon searched all of its archives and makes a startling discovery.
One that will rock the world with its discovery and change the lives of two elderly people.
The discovery was that the US army air corps had activated the stargate in 1945 and sent through a Dr Ernest Littlefield stunned the world and the world of one Catherine Langford.
But it was the political firestorm that followed that caused the most damage.
The idea that the US military had abandoned a very brave man saw President Clinton's popularity rate plummet.
Though it did serve to also help President Clinton as it wiped the Monica Lewinsky scandal from the public consciousness and when his political rivals tried to resurrection the scandal a year later the people were more concerned with the development of Earths first colony world rather than a politician who couldn't keep it in his pants.
The Ernest rescue expedition caught the public imagination like none other.
When the surveillance probe was sent through the stargate and discovered the damaged dialling device public hope dived for a moment as its progress was being televised live on the discovery channel.
But that was replaced by euphoria when an aged Ernest made an appearance in all his naked glory.
After realising that Ernest Littlefield was still alive care packages were assembled and sent through while plans were made for an alternate mission to recover him were developed using the Abydonian Furling ship.
While this plan was being developed there was a public petition that was growing out of all proportion to include Catherine Langford once it became public knowledge that she had been Ernest's fiancée when he stepped through the stargate.
The military was of course opposed to this but the politicians seeing the flow of public opinion ordered Catherine included as the voting public just loved a happy ending and happy voters meant happy politicians.
The arrival of the Furling vessel at Heliopolis led to great changes.
Atmospheric cleaners were deployed to repair the climate while nanites repaired both the castle and the dialling device.
But that was nothing compared to the changes made to Ernest and Catherine.
Using advanced Furling medical nanotechnology both were deaged to their early twenties so that they could have the life they would have had if Ernest hadn't been lost.
Once the repairs were made to the castle and the dialling device and the climate had been returned to normal the Furling vessel returned to the earth leaving Heliopolis in the capable hands of Ernest and Catherine.
Though they wouldn't be alone for long as countless scientists and academics were already clambering to start the investigations into the atom library and the repository of knowledge they held.
The scientists and academics weren't the only ones clambering to go many farmers and other potential colonists wanted to leave the over populated earth for the blank canvas of Heliopolis.
The Furling vessel returned to Earth to complete the next phase of its promise to help Jack and Sara have a family.
Sara O'Neill just stared at her surrounds she couldn't really believe that she was on the Furling vessel.
But that was the least of her concerns as the Furling AI announced that there was only a very low chance of her carrying a pregnancy to term.
On hearing this Sara starts to cry but she quickly stops when the AI advises that the use of maturation chambers could enable their children to be brought to term.
It was even possible to link Sara to the maturation chambers so that she would feel the movement of the children and experience the hormonal changes including enlarged breasts and lactation so she could feel being pregnant without actually carrying the child.
It took Jack and Sara just minutes to agree to this process and minutes after the harvesting of their respective genetic materials three little baby O'Neill's were in the maturation chambers.
Sara was a little concerned at her ability to deal with three children at once and the furling AI advised them that it was not a problem as he could place two of the embryos into suspension so they would not develop beyond the embryonic stage until Sara was ready for another child.
While this was going on Stargate command started its exploration program.
SG-1 came across an apocalyptic world and came across a group of people nearing death covered in volcanic ash.
The assumed leader said just two words to the team before falling unconscious, "leave us."
Of course SG-1 didn't listen to him and rescued them much to their displeasure.
The Tollan survivors were expecting to be interrogated and used as forced intellectual labour so they were most surprised when they were asked where they wanted to be taken and when they had finally told their rescuers they were transported aboard an obviously advanced vessel.
Omac was stunned by the level of technology of this vessel as it didn't match that of the society that had rescued them and when he asked how this was possible the controlling AI had merely said, "You wouldn't understand!" paraphrasing his response to practically every question these Tau'ri had asked them.
When they tried to find out for themselves they were surprised and mildly shocked when their phase shifting and other technology didn't seem to work on this vessel.
What shocked him more was when he was advised that the next day they would be taken to the coordinates he had provided.
The next day the Tollan survivors stood on the bridge of the alien vessel and Omac was surprised when the AI announced that they were taking them to the coordinates provided.
What shocked the Tollan was that in a mere blink of an eye the vessel appeared to have jumped from one point in space time to another near instantaneously without have crossed the intervening space.
Turning to the AI he asked, "How did you do that?" the AI replied, "You wouldn't understand!"
Omac was sure that he saw a hint of a smile on the AI's face.
That was the last he was to see of the AI as all the Tollans were immediately beamed into the Curia building and the vessel then left having ignored all the Ion bolts having been shot at it.
Jack wasn't sure what he thought of Sara's quasi pregnancy.
She was having the hormonal swings and craving of a pregnant woman without actually being pregnant.
Her abdominal muscles even contracted copying the baby's movements in the maturation chamber.
But Jack eventually decided that having children using maturation chambers had other benefits as he didn't have to stop having intimate relations with Sara like he had to when Sara was pregnant normally.
When the news broke of the maturation chamber technology stargate command was inundated with requests to use the technology by women how couldn't have children and those who simply couldn't be bothered to have them naturally.
The AI of the Furling vessel advised through a press release that the technology was too advanced to be provided to the Tau'ri as their technology couldn't monitor the developing embryos properly and they were only twenty such chambers available on the vessel.
After much public outcry of favouritism the AI eventually agreed to hold a lottery for the future use of the maturation chambers.
The lottery was only open to women who couldn't bear children naturally or were at a high risk of miscarriage.
All women selected would have to pass medical examinations and any found to be capable of natural conception were deleted from the lottery.
There were those who tried to bribe their way onto the list but as the Furling vessel was fully self-contained it didn't need anything that those self-important people could offer.
The arrival of Apophis and Klorel in the Tau'ri system left the Goa'uld in a state of shock.
There in orbit of the Tau'ri home world was an obviously advanced vessel.
Apophis immediately broadcast a challenge and demanded that the vessel surrender to its god.
The AI of the Furling vessel didn't even bother to respond and powered up its disruptor beams and fired at the two Goa'uld Ha'taks, leaving them powerless, but intact adrift in space.
Apophis and Klorel were stunned as they floated in their respective pel'tak.
Nothing they did could bring the systems back online.
Apophis even tried to escape via his on board stargate but it wouldn't power up as well.
Then before he knew what was happening Apophis and Klorel and all their Jaffa disappeared in a flash a light.
Bra'tac and Teal'c woke with the other Jaffa and after they fully recovered they realised that their prim'tah felt different.
Bra'tac was about to remove his to find out why it was different when something appeared in front of him and said, "The immature Goa'uld that was inside you has been destroyed.
It has been replaced by a bio-mechaniod implant that fulfils the same function but will never have to be replaced.
You and your fellow Jaffa are now free of the tyranny of being dependent of immature Goa'ulds for your survival.
You may leave via the stargate to any domicile you desire."
After a brief discussion the Jaffa decided to return to Chulak and the free Jaffa were born.
Skaara woke and for a moment he wondered where he was when he realised that he couldn't feel Klorel and then he felt a soft cloth wipe his face and after blinking a few times saw his sister Sha're drop the cloth into a bowl of water.
He stuttered. "Sha're!" who then bent over as best she could and kissed his forehead and said, "Relax brother, you are free.
The evil that occupied your body has been destroyed once you have regained your strength you will be returned to Abydos.
Father an anxious to see you.
When we advised him of your return, he even told us that he had found you a wife."
Skaara then looked at Sha're and noticing her bulging belly said, "You are with child again!"
Sha're merely smiled and said, "Hopefully this one is a boy.
My Daniel deserves a son to continue his line."
While Sha're was tending to her brother Daniel went to the room that held the former Goa'uld hosts.
Walking up to the one he knew was Apophis' former host he said, "Do not be afraid you are now free of the evil that occupied your body.
The ship you are on has restored the vitality of your body so you can live a normal life.
Unfortunately it is not even in this vessels power to return you to your former time and life.
The Abydonians have offered you a place in their society if that is your wish or you could live here on Earth.
There are many places of learning that would like to employ you as a living reference to Egyptian culture.
Apophis' former host looked and Daniel and said, "My name is Nakht and I will have to think on your offer.
I was once a scribe in the Temple of Amun at Karnak, with a wife and children before being used as a host by Apophis."
Nodding at Nakht Daniel turned to the other former hosts and said, "you are all free to return to your homes as well.'
A small group of former hosts gathered together and one asked, "And what about us we weren't Goa'ulds we were hosts to Tok'ra symbiotes!"
Daniel then turned to the small group and asked, "What is this Tok'ra you speak of?"
The answer he receives sends him quickly to the SGC and the oversight committee to inform them of this Tok'ra resistance movement against the Goa'uld System Lords.
Jolinar of Malkshur was sure that this time the ashrak was going to get her.
Rosha was seriously injured and Jolinar didn't know if she was strong enough to save her.
With Rosha encouraging her to change hosts to save herself Jolinar was about to comply with the wishes of her host before strange warriors burst from the chappa'ai and started helping the refugees escaping from the village under Goa'uld attack.
Then to her surprise one of the strange warriors started to treat Rosha's wounds and Jolinar thought that their might just be enough time for her to be able to save Rosha.
She felt a prick in her arm and started to feel drowsy Jolinar could have fought off the drug that had been injected into her host but it would help her heal Rosha even if it would make her responses slower.
Just before Rosha closed her eyes Jolinar saw the ashrak being shot numerous times with primitive projectile weapons and Jolinar just hopes that her saviours do regret not killing the ashrak outright.
When Jolinar woke she found herself in a cell.
Across the passage way was the ashrak also in a cell so Jolinar reached the conclusion that those primitives weren't so primitive after all if they could detect somebody being a host.
Suddenly a man entered the corridor and said, "Hello, my name is Daniel Jackson and we have somewhat of a situation.
We know you are both possessed by a Goa'uld symbiote but recent experiences have shown us that there is a sub group call the Tok'ra that live a true symbiotic relation with their hosts rather than dominating them.
The issue we have is that regardless of our abilities we have no means to determine if they symbiotes that possess you are either Goa'uld or Tok'ra as they are the same species to us.
So until we find a way to determine this you will have to continue to experience our hospitality."
As Daniel turns to leave Jolinar shouts, "I'm Jolinar of Malkshur and I am Tok'ra!"
Daniel turns back to her cell and then the ashrak shouts, "Don't believe the Goa'uld I am Jolinar of Malkshur."
Daniel turns to the ashrak and replies, "I sincerely doubt that.
The rescue teams are adamant that you were one of the people shooting at the refugees we just need a little more proof.
If or when we generate that then snakey inside the host will be destroyed.
This just demonstrates our issue we have no way of telling Tok'ra from Goa'uld so until we do or we determine that one is a Goa'uld then here you will stay."
With this said Daniel leaves to head into the over watch room where Bra'tac and Teal'c are watching.
Bra'tac turns to Daniel and says, "I have heard of Jolinar of Malkshur she is the most wanted of the Tok'ra after Garshaw of Belote.
It is said Jolinar betrayed her overlord Cronus and tried to free the people of Malkshur but her rebellion failed.
Unfortunately I don't know if what we have here if true or not.
Perhaps one of the known former Tok'ra hosts might be able to identify her."
Daniel did approach some of the former Tok'ra hosts who had not yet left for the Tok'ra base.
It only took one look for him to say, "That is Rosha, host of Jolinar of Malkshur."
With confirmation the cell opened and Jolinar was able to leave but as she does so there was a shimmer of light in the ashrak's cell and then a howl of pain before the host looked at Rosha and said, "Forgive me I couldn't stop that monster but now I am free."
With a smile to the now freed host Jolinar walked out of the detention area to the former Tok'ra hosts before they all started the long journey back to the Tok'ra.
Doctor Samantha Carter was in seventh heaven as she explored one of the ha'taks that the Furling vessel had disabled.
While the Furling vessel was not quite so forthcoming with their technology it didn't stop or try to prevent stargate command claiming ownership of the ha'taks.
The Furling vessel was of the opinion that seeing that the Goa'uld brought these vessels here they and everything on them now belonged to the Tau'ri.
Stargate command and the United Nations Security Council agreed with this determination.
Secretly they were hoping that the Goa'ulds would be stupid enough to send more ships to challenge the Furling vessel.
But that was for another time.
For now they had to learn everything they could about the science and construction behind Goa'uld technology before the former Goa'uld vessels are turned over to the fledgling United Nations space command.
Stargate command after several false starts finally started a systematic exploration of the stargate network.
It world have been easier if the Furling AI had been more cooperative but it was focused on the Abydonians and the only technologies they got from the Furlings were mere trinkets more to encourage the Earth to continue helping the Abydonians to develop than an actual attempt to actually uplift the Tau'ri.
The earth politicians saw it for what it was an encouragement to continue helping the Abydonians that the Furlings couldn't or wouldn't do.
They also knew that as both the Earth and the Abydonians developed the trinkets would grow more advanced as well.
Joe Spencer never thought that he would ever have any other career than that of a small town barber.
That all changed when he started having visions of Brigadier General Jack O'Neill of stargate command.
Joe wrote to the SGC about his visions and after an investigation it was found that Jack and Joe had been linked by Ancient long rang communication stones.
Further in depth investigations revealed that Joe also had the Ancient gene like both Jack O'Neill and John Sheppard.
Realising what a rare thing this gene was Joe Spencer was recruited into the stargate program with the special rank of captain.
His role was to play guinea pig to any Ancient technology that the Tau'ri got their hands on as Jack O'Neill and John Sheppard were considered too important to risk in this role.
So now here was Joe god knows where in a room that was empty except for the stargate dialling device and a circle of strange writings on the floor.
And the only person on the team who was anywhere near interested in it was Major Dr Daniel Jackson who was talking to himself saying, "There has to be something here!" while he mutters reading the inscription "Nou ani Anquietas. Hic qua Videum." And then in English "We are the Ancients. This is the place of our legacy."
Then looking to the rest of the team he asks, "Can anybody see anything that might in the slightest seem out of the ordinary?"
In answer to this Joe turns around and says, "Four blank walls, north south east west as he points to each one."
While Joe was pointing to the last wall he walked across the circle of writing and then he heard gasps from the rest of the team.
Turning around he saw some strange device that just appeared out of the far wall.
Before Joe could say anything further one of the team members an Australian SAS trooper walked up to the alien device and peers into before anybody can stop him and when he pulls back he say, "It's full of flashing lights just like a kaleidoscope."
Other team members go up and try the device to the same effect.
Daniel wonders what is the purpose of the machine and its kaleidoscopic effects, when Joe walks up to have a look.
The team was stunned when the device seemed to reach out and grabbed Joe's head and held it in place before releasing him and Joe collapsed to the floor unconscious.
Daniel looks and the unconscious man and said, "Well at least we know that it only reacts to those with the Ancient gene as Joe was the only one of use here to possess it."
Looking down at the unconscious man Daniel sighs and says, "Well we had better get Joe back to the SGC and the infirmary.
Dr Janet Frasier is not going to be happy with us."
Dr Janet Frasier glared at the away team as she and her staff conducted tests on the unconscious captain Joe Spencer.
She then turned to the away team and asked, "And whose great idea was it to stick everybody's head in an alien machine until it reacted to somebody?"
When the Australian SAS trooper looked at her sheepishly she sighed and said, "Of course an Australian, another great idea from them like building boats out of empty beer cans that they by the way had to empty first and then running them down a dry river bed."
It was at this point that Colonel General Alexi Romanov walked into the infirmary and after being saluted asks, "What is Captain Spencers condition?"
Dr Janet Frasier replies, "Sir, physiologically the captain is in excellent condition apart from his unconscious state and a slightly elevated activity level in his cerebral cortex.
I just have no idea what caused this condition in the first place."
Thinking for a moment Colonel General Romanov then turns to Daniel Jackson and asks, "And what does the Furling vessel have to say about this?"
Looking sheepishly at the general Daniel replies, "Sir since Sha're went on maternity leave the AI has been less than forthcoming with any assistance.
Even Major Sheppard only gets rudimentary answers from it.
I think it might have to do with him having a much diluted Furling gene then the Abydonians.
I have tried to get Skaara to assist but his lack of understanding of the sciences prevents him for asking the correct questions.
Personally I don't think we are going to get much from the Furling vessel until we have some properly educated Abydonians to operate it.
And at present that is at least five years away until the brightest Abydonians we've identified have caught up on all the bridging courses we are teaching them."
An irritated look crossed the Colonel Generals face and he said, "Advise me when Captain Spencer is awake."
With this said he turned on his heels and marched out of the infirmary.
Once Captain Joe Spencer regains consciousness Dr Frasier takes him to the briefing room where he and the rest of the team will be debriefed.
Once everybody is seated Dr Frasier decided to stay so she can keep a close eye on Captain Spencer.
Seeing that everybody is ready General Hammond looks at every team member and then settles his gaze on Captain Spencer.
Examining the man he asks, "Captain Spencer are you all right? You look a bit under the weather."
Captain Spencer smiles wanly at the general and says, "I'm fine general Hammond there is nothing cruvus with me apart from a little headache."
Joe realises everybody is staring at him and asks what is wrong.
Daniel replies, "You just said there is nothing cruvus with you.
From the context of the conversation I assume you meant that there was nothing wrong with you."
Joe replies with, "So you think that I'm losing the falatus to speak properly?"
Seeing the confused look on the people's faces he said, "I did it again didn't I?"
He continues by saying, "I don't know what is going on I think I'll just stretch my cosars. Can we continue the debriefing later?"
Seeing the strange looks on everybody's faces he turns to Dr Frasier and says, "Dr Frasier perhaps I need to be checked again as something is obviously cruvus with me."
With this said Joe and Dr Frasier leave to return to the infirmary for her to run more tests on Joe.
After they have left General Hammond turns to Daniel and asks, "What were those words he was using?"
Daniel thinks for a moment and says, "From the sound of the words and if my interpretation is correct then that language seems to be either based on Latin or perhaps this was the precursor language that we know as Latin.
General what if that alien machine had downloaded an alien language into Joe's brain for some reason.
I think it might be in everybody's best interests if we find out what is going on with Captain Spencer."
Later in the SGC infirmary Janet looks at the results of the latest MRI of Joe Spencer and picks up her phone and asks Colonel General Romanov if he could come to the infirmary for an update on Captain Spencer.
While she waits for the general to arrive she goes back to analysing that latest data.
While she was doing this Joe gets bored and asks if he can check his emails on Janet's computer with a vague nod of agreement Joe get out of the bed and wanders over to Janet's desk and starts to type.
Ten minutes later Colonel General Romanov walks into the infirmary and notices captain Spencer typing away at Doctor Frasier's computer.
Deciding that Doctor Frasier's information is more important at the moment than finding out what Captain Spencer is doing he walks over to Doctor Frasier and asks for an update on Captain Spencer's condition.
Janet turns and smiles at the handsome Russian General before replying, "Sir the latest data on captain Spencer so that he is using nearly sixty five percent of his brains physical capacity which is far higher than the human norm.
Furthermore this is increasing at approximately five percent per hour.
This rate of increase simply can't be maintained and if we don't find a way to stop it Captain Spencer's brain will simply shut down through having no excess ability to perform its normal autonomic functions and he will die."
Just as Janet finished this statement Joe hit the enter key on Janet's computer and alarms started to wail throughout the complex.
While the technicians tried to find out what had crashed Stargate Commands computer network experts with the prerequisite clearances were rushed to Stargate command but before any of the experts could arrive the mainframe rebooted itself.
While this was going on the command staff was in an emergency meeting to try and determine what had happened and who was responsible,
So it came as a big surprise when the technicians advised that whatever had crashed the mainframe had been done from Doctor Frasier's terminal.
All eyes then turned to Captain Joe Spencer who had been using her computer terminal at the time.
They tried to ask him what he had done but it soon became apparent that he had lost the ability to speak English.
Instead he just wrote gibberish on a note pad.
An hour later Samantha Carter entered the room and General Hammond enquired, "Captain, Oh Sorry Doctor Carter could you please explain what has happened.
Smiling at General Hammond's slip of the tongue Sam replied, "Sir! My quick investigation indicated that Captain Spencer has rewritten an enormous amount of the mainframes code.
What is more important is now the computer mainframe is operating three hundred times faster than it had previously.
I don't know how he did it sir as this level of coding is far outside his previous skill set.
The most import thing for this command is however the fact the he added a hell of a lot of data to our existing files all of which appear at first glance to be stargate addresses.
A quick investigation of the first three I came across indicated that these addresses weren't part of the Abydos cartouche.
Some of them even had eight and nine glyphs in their addresses."
As she paced around the room she suddenly noticed Joe's doodling and snatched it out of his hand.
Reading it Sam frowned and then showed it to General Hammond who just raised an eyebrow.
Sam said, "Sir that is high level maths even I don't know what it is supposed to mean."
Turning to Joe she said, "I wish you could tell me what this means?"
Joe just shrugged and wrote on another piece of paper 10=8.
Sam looked at his answer and then at the equation that was scribbled on the note pad and picking up a pencil she made a couple of notes in the border of the page and then whispered, "Sir this is base eight maths if I'm correct this could be a revolutionary way of calculating the distance between planets."
Daniel then breaks in and says, "Generals when this started and Joe started speaking an alien language I originally thought the alien device had downloaded a language in to Joe.
But if my interpretation of 'Nou ani Anquietas. Hic qua Videum'. As 'We are the Ancients. This is the place of our legacy.' Then that alien device might have downloaded the sum of all that alien races knowledge.
Unfortunately we might never even get to scratch the surface of this knowledge as if Doctor Frasier's report is correct possession of this knowledge is killing Captain Spencer.
I just wish there was a way we could help him."
Once this was said Joe scribbled onto the note pad again and then threw it onto the middle of the table.
Everybody stared at it for a minute before Sam said, "it resembled a stargate glyph but it doesn't appear on the stargate or for that matter the dialling device."
Daniel just stares at the glyph of four stars in the sky and then looking at general Hammond says, "Sir I think Joe is telling us that the Furling vessel can help him.
When Sha're, Claire and I were transported to the Furling vessel it was in a star system which had twin binary stars in it.
If that star system was exclusively a Furling one then their might not be a stargate address for it.
But there is a problem the only person that seems to be able to get the vessel to do more than the basics is Sha're and the vessel won't risk the health of Sha're or Melburn by transporting them up to the vessel.
Apparently there is some kind of safety protocol to prevent things like that."
General Hammond then looks at Colonel General Romanov and says, "We'll get Captain Sheppard to fly Sha're and the children up to the Furling vessel and Colonel General Romanov will accompany you and your family."
The turning to Colonel General Alexi Romanov he says, "And Alexi will be on hand to make sure that the data is saved somewhere for both our and the Abydonians future reference."
With this said the meeting broke up as plans were put in place to save Joe Spencer while retaining the alien database also.
Dr Samantha Carter was stunned by the facility that held the repository of knowledge recovered from Captain Joe Spencer.
The facility that held the knowledge was constructed using Goa'uld crystal technology as the Furling AI still refused to release advanced technology that the Tau'ri or Abydonians didn't already possess.
And because the AI didn't want the Abydonians cut out of this bounty it constructed the repository complex on Abydos.
But there was a surprise installed in the repository of knowledge.
Much to the disgust of the Tau'ri the Furling AI did save the knowledge in its original format which unfortunately also meant that it was in the original alien language.
So before the Tau'ri and Abydonians could explore this font of knowledge it first had to be translated from the alien language to a language that the scientists and researchers could understand.
With the repository of knowledge remaining in its original language scores of linguistics specialists were brought in to develop a translation matrix so that the scientific researchers could start exploiting the stored knowledge of this ancient alien race.
While this was proceeding the scientists, engineers and technicians all returned to the two ha'tak vessels where they could continue their research with the already onsite Egyptologists and Abydonians who already had some understanding of English.
Stargate command even with all the resources of the academic community on the earth still found themselves with far more avenues of research than the available manpower.
Adding to the choke point was the fact that there were only four available workstations for the atom library.
This had caused many disputes including some fights as some of the researchers either felt that their research was more important than others or it was felt that other were hogging the workstation.
Such were the frayed tempers that the United Nations Security Council finally had to deploy a squad of peacekeepers to Heliopolis just to keep the various researchers from killing each other over access issues.
Bra'tac and Teal'c had been back on Chulak for three months when Sokar having noticed the absence of both Ra and Apophis had launched an invasion on Apophis' former realm.
Knowing that they simply didn't have the manpower to fight Sokar Bra'tac and Teal'c along with their families and those of the nascent Free Jaffa nation left Chulak for an abandoned Goa'uld world formally belonging to Cronus to continue the task of building a Free Jaffa Army to free their brothers from bondage.
With the Goa'uld System Lords involved in a full scale dominance war to determine who will be the next Supreme System Lord Stargate Command with the approval of the United Nations Security Council decided that the risk of conflict with the Goa'uld's was too great to continue using the Abydos cartouche stargate addresses.
Instead they will explore exclusively the new stargate addresses input by Captain Joe Spencer from the repository of knowledge.
This was done under the belief that the majority of these stargate addresses should be unknown to the Goa'uld System Lords.
Omac stood on the bridge of the Tollan transport cruiser as it headed through hyperspace towards it destination.
It had taken a lot of discussion for him to get the Tollan Curia to agree to start relations with the Tau'ri.
As he watched the stars streak by in hyperspace we wondered how such a primitive race as the Tau'ri has come into possession of such an obviously advanced vessel that was capable of crossing the intergalactic distances in a blink of an eye.
This was the main reason for his mission.
The Tollan Curia was concerned that such a primitive race having technology far beyond their current development could cause their destruction just like what happened to Serita.
He just hoped that this year long journey would have suitable benefits for the Tollan people.
Jolinar of Malkshur was checking out abandoned former Goa'uld worlds as possible future bases for the Tok'ra.
She knew the second she exited that chappa'ai that this world wasn't suitable as it held an industrialised human society that immediately reacted to the activation of the Chappa'ai.
Seeing that she didn't had time to dial out again she ran into an excavated nearby Goa'uld temple complex to hide until the humans left and she could dial out again.
As she moved deeper into the temple complex to avoid detection she came across writing about Ra.
This was strange as she had always thought that the world had belonged to Shak'ran.
Intrigued and needing to kill some time she decided to read the stories of Ra and Shak'ran to find out where this world Pangar fit into the countless Goa'uld internecine conflicts.
Suddenly she stopped dead in her tracks when she read that Ra had imprisoned Egeria the Queen of the Tok'ra on this world for her crimes against the Goa'uld System Lords.
Jolinar was shocked she had always been told from when she first joined the Tok'ra that Egeria had been killed by Ra.
Quickly she searched the temple complex looking for Egeria stasis jar.
Unfortunately she didn't find Egeria but she did find an excavation which was the right size for a stasis jar to have been hidden in.
This caused her to stop and ponder this situation.
From what she had seen of the temple complex
It had only been excavated by the humans in the last few decades as there were still signs that this process was continuing.
This left her with a couple of options, either Egeria had escaped and was living amongst these people or she had been found by these humans and had been taken somewhere on this planet.
One thing that Jolinar knew was that she could sit on this information.
Checking to see if the local humans were still guarding the chappa'ai she was that the majority of the soldiers had returned to their barracks with the remainder were patrolling the surrounding area.
Taking a chance she snuck up to the controlling pedestal and quickly dialled her destination before running through the chappa'ai as the soldiers started shooting at her retreating form.
The Tok'ra High Council were stunned by the information that Jolinar of Malkshur had discovered.
Their queen Egeria was possibly still alive and either held captive or living amongst the primitive humans.
After a quick discussion it was decided to retrieve Egeria through any means necessary.
But seeing that it was most likely that the chappa'ai was now heavily guarded it was decided to recall all Tok'ra tel'tak's and al'kesh for them to be used in a recovery operation to retrieve Egeria.
When the Tollan transport finally reached its destination Omac was stunned by what he saw.
The Tau'ri now in addition to the advanced alien vessel had two Goa'uld ha'tak's that they had somehow acquired.
While the ha'taks were large they probably couldn't damage the Tollan vessel while its phase shifting was in operation.
Noticing that the Tau'ri had noticed the Tollan transport and was bombarding it with messages Omac opened a communications channel and requested a meeting to discuss diplomatic and trade relations with the Tau'ri. Omac was surprised by the Tau'ri negotiators.
He had expected requests for Tollan technology that the Curia was never going to approve after what happened to Serita.
While the Tau'ri had expressed an interest in Tollan technologies they were more interested in developing a trading relation with the Tollan for exotic food stuffs that the Tau'ri possessed but the Tollan did not.
But what really surprised Omac was the Tau'ri request for the Tollan to teach the Tau'ri in scientific theory that they had not yet developed.
It was in intriguing proposition to Omac as the Tau'ri weren't actually asking for technology but rather to be taught scientific principled that led to the development of the Tollan technologies.
This was something that Omac though he could get the Tollan Curia to agree to as the Tau'ri already had access to two vast fonts of advanced knowledge which might enable the Tau'ri to develop terrible weapons before they had the understanding of what they were actually doing.
Omac believed that it was in the Tollans best interest to teach the Tau'ri what they asked as it would enable the Tollan to act as guides to the Tau'ri and possibly prevent another disaster like what had happened to Serita.
The Tau'ri had even thrown is a sweetener as the Tau'ri say by offering the Tollans one of the spare stargates they have on board their two ha'tak class vessels.
To Omac that was about the best news he had heard from the Tau'ri as this offer would enable the Tollan to access the stargate network once again.
This also meant that the Tollan wouldn't have to depend on their slow hyperdrives that took far too much time to travel from Tollana to the Earth.
Sha're, Daniel, Skaara and their children were on the bridge of the Furling vessel investigation its various functions.
Daniel heard Claire giggle as he saw her hit Melburn with her plushy toy.
Daniel thought it strange that here he was on an obviously advance starship and its bridge was being turned into a crèche for small children.
He turned back to Sha're and Skaara who were viewing menu options for the ship when Sha're clicked on once that said reproduce.
Daniel wondered what the reproduce actually meant when the furling vessel suddenly activated its navigation system and jumped to star system devoid of life.
Before Daniel's astonished eyes the Furling vessel started beaming something down onto one of the small rocky planet and then as he watched the surface of the planet started to ripple as if something was starting to eat the planet.
Then the Furling vessel jumps back to its previous position at the L5 LaGrange point in earth's orbit as if nothing happened.
All efforts to get the Furling AI to explain what had happened was met with silence.
Yet over the next few weeks the Furling vessel would disappear for a short time before returning to its previous position.
Omac had a completed treaty that he just had to get the Curia to approve.
Luckily instead of having to spend a year travelling back to Tollana on the Tollan transport, he and the transport were being given a lift by the Furling vessel back to Tollana.
In the hull of the Tollan transport also was a stargate and dialling device to enable the Tollan to contact the Tau'ri quickly and easily.
The Tollan Curia studied the Tau'ri Tollan treaty with interest.
What had been offered by the Tau'ri caused eyebrows to be raised.
While the Tollan Curia was sure that the crews of their ships would happily accept having access to the specification for Goa'uld hyperdrives what really interested the Tollan Curia was the offer of access to two alien databases that had them reconsidering their isolationist policies.
After a two day debate it was eventually agreed to accept the treaty that was negotiated by Omac.
Once a decision was made the Tollan contacted the Tau'ri and asked permission for High Chancellor Travell and party to travel to the earth so that the Tau'ri-Tollan treaty could be formally signed.
The Pangaran officials were running around in a panic.
The tretonin facility had been attacked by Goa'ulds and the queen had been stolen.
The only evidence they had of this incursion were a couple of dead Goa'ulds and lots of their soldiers who had been killed by staff weapons.
With more than half the Pangaran population on tretonin if they didn't acquire a new queen quickly then a great many Pangarans would die.
Then their luck changed as specialist trackers trying to find where the Goa'uld escaped to found a badly injured Goa'uld that had been left behind.
Selmak was surprised that Saroosh was still alive.
She had thought the injury to her host was fatal and had told her fellow Tok'ra to leave her.
After all it was a little sacrifice on her behalf if it ensured the future of her race.
So she had been surprised when Saroosh had fought to say alive for the benefit of Selmak.
Selmak knew that the humans had located her and once seeing the condition of Saroosh had taken them to some kind of medical facility.
There they had stablised Saroosh but Selmak knew that Saroosh had passed the point of no return and her host was dying and there was nothing that Selmak could do to prevent her death.
Accepting her fate Selmak settled in to await her death when strange men entered her room and demanded the return of the Goa'uld queen.
Selmak glared at the humans and shouted, "We are not Goa'ulds, we are Tok'ra the Goa'uld resistance and you were killing our queen.
The time of my passing quickly approaches as I will die along with my host but I die known with the return of our queen that the Tok'ra will live on."
Then another man speaks, "We didn't know of what you speak of but it is now neither here nor there.
Too many of our people are dependent on Tretonin and if we don't get another queen then a great many of our people will die a slow painful death."
Selmak looks at the man and says, "So what you need is another Goa'uld queen not necessarily our queen.
I have knowledge of the original Goa'uld home world but to save yourselves I ask for something from you in return.
My current host is dying and that now can't be avoided.
But if you were willing to find me a willing host I could reside in and offer a guarantee that I would be free to leave after fulfilling my obligations then I will take you to the original homeworld of the Goa'uld and assist you in acquiring a new Goa'uld queen as it would be far too dangerous for you to go alone.
The decision is yours to make but you must decide quickly as my host Saroosh grows weaker by the minute and if she dies then I will too and the information you so desperately need will die with me."
Dollen the Pangaran First Minister wondered how he could solve this situation.
The Goa'uld continued to withhold information that could save his people and because of its precarious health they couldn't use more direct means to acquire this information.
His advisors still weren't convinced that the Goa'uld was telling the truth yet they admitted they had very little choice.
If they didn't find the Goa'uld a new host then it would die and the information they so desperately needed with it.
Eventually it was decided to call for volunteers to be its host in the hope that it was telling the truth and would honour its promises.
He was surprised when the daughter of the archaeologist that found the Goa'uld stasis jar Jenna Volk stepped forward to be the host of the Goa'uld.
Selmak woke with strange memories then he remembered what had happened.
He had been introduced to his new potential host Jenna Volk but before she could conduct a proper interview and prepare to change host Saroosh started to die.
So desperate were they to save Selmak that she didn't even get a chance to say goodbye to Saroosh who died just moments after she had left her former host.
With so little preparation both Selmak and her new host Jenna Volk the suffered trauma of Saroosh's death.
But now they were starting to recover and both Selmak and her new Host Jenna Volk started to experience each other's memories.
Suddenly Selmak realised that there were others in the room and after asking for Jenna's permission took control of her hosts body and said, "Thank you for finding me a new host.
The blending experience was more traumatic than usual due to Saroosh's death just as I left her.
It will take a little time for myself and Jenna to incorporate our experiences but after that I will fulfil my obligation by taking your people to the original home world of the Goa'uld.
Now I will return control of this body to my host so that you can question her about her experiences with the blending.'
With this said Jenna's eyes flashed much to the startlement of her audience before she started to answer their questions.
Garshaw of Belote was concerned with the condition of Egeria.
While like Jolinar she wasn't one of Egeria's children she knew what importance Egeria was held in the hearts of the Tok'ra.
Turning quietly to Jolinar she whispered, "Jolinar what are we to do?
Egeria has at most weeks to live and spawning a new clutch including a new queen is out of the question as she wouldn't survive the experience."
Jolinar thinks for a moment and then replies, "Perhaps the Tau'ri and their alien friends can assist us.
Not only could they remove Goa'ulds from their hosts but I also overheard talk that the alien vessel not only rejuvenated two of their own elderly people but also Apophis' former host as well.
It stand to reason that if they can rejuvenate humans they must also have the ability to do similar things to other species.
The only questions that then remain is if they would be willing to assist us and if they are at what cost.
Unfortunately there is only one way to find out if they are willing to assist us that that would be to actually talk to the Tau'ri.
I believe that the easiest way to contact them would be to take a tel'tak to Abydos and contact the humans there as they obviously have a very close relationship with the Tau'ri.
I wouldn't want to try travelling by chappa'ai as I saw that the Tau'ri have some kind of barrier over the event horizon of their chappa'ai and the risk would be too great to travel that way."
Garshaw contemplates what Jolinar has said and then replies, "I agree it is the only way that may be possible to save Egeria.
Take a tel'tak and go to Abydos Jolinar as the Tau'ri already know you and your host.
Therefore they might be more inclined to take to you than other members of the Tok'ra."
When Jolinar of Malkshur arrived at Abydos in her cloaked tel'tak she was stunned by what she saw.
The Tau'ri had really been helping the Abydonians in providing better dwellings a stable water supply and other buildings that she could only guess at their purpose.
It seemed that the Abydonians were getting by far the better of any relationship with the Tau'ri even if the Tau'ri were now getting any naquadah that the Abydonians mined.
Decided that sitting in her cloaked tel'tak wasn't benefitting the situation Jolinar uncloaked that tel'tak and went outside to wait to be contacted.
Jolinar was surprised when she was approached by the Abydonian leader Kasuf in some strange wheeled vehicle before she was taken to the leader of the Tau'ri on Abydos.
After a quick conversation with his leadership Jolinar of Malkshur was escorted through the Chappa'ai to the earth were the real negotiations would begin.
After two days of negotiations Jolinar was stunned by how reasonable the Tau'ri negotiators were.
All they really wanted were some scientists and technicians to teach them about the Goa'uld technologies along with a cloaked tel'tak for whatever purpose they wanted it for.
Of course part of the agreement was for the Tok'ra teachers to show the Tau'ri how to properly operate the ha'taks and other vessels that they had acquired.
With an agreement reached Jolinar of Malkshur returned to the main Tok'ra base via the chappa' ai to discuss with the Tok'ra High Council the agreement she had reached with the Tau'ri for the rejuvenation of Egeria.
Daniel Jackson had been wondering what Sha're had to the furling vessel to do when she pressed the reproduction menu.
Since he didn't understand the science behind the furling technology he invited Doctor Samantha Carter on board the Furling vessel to discuss what might be happening.
Sam Carter had only been on board the furling vessel for twenty minutes when it jumped back to the star system it had going to that was devoid of life.
Daniel Jackson was stunned by what he saw.
The planet to his eyes had visibly shrunk from what he remembered.
Wondering what was going on Daniel asked the controlling AI only to be ignored.
Sighing with frustration he asked Sha're to ask the AI who replied, "The nanonic molecular converters are converting the planet into useful materials as per the request of the authorised operator."
Daniel then whispered a request to Sha're who asked, "And what was the request from the authorised operator?"
The AI replied, "To reproduce"
Samantha Carter gasped at this and said, "Daniel, I think that these nanonic molecular converters are Von Neumann machines that are essentially strip mining this entire planet."
Seeing the look of confusion in Daniels eyes, Sam continued, "Daniel let's say you had a really big mining job like strip mining a planet.
Now you could build millions of machines over centuries to do the job but if you were advanced enough you'd build one machine with the ability to reproduce itself from its surrounding materials and complete the job in months instead of centuries."
Daniel then gets Sha're to ask how many times it was asked to reproduce to which the AI replies, "As the authorised operator didn't designate a numeric value it fell to the default option of one."
This revelation left the humans on the bridge stunned and then Daniel said, "You know Sha're, we have been in possession of the ship for quite a while but it still hasn't been named?"
Sha're though for a moment and said, "Furling vessel, as you don't have a proper name I am going to name you after the race your creators created.
Your name is now Cylon."
The Furling vessel replied, "Change of designation accepted this vessel and name is now Cylon."
Once this was done Daniel gets Sha're to ask how long reproduction will take,
The AI Cylon replies, "Reproduction will tale in your time scale, three months, twelve days, four hours and thirty three seconds."
Doctor Samantha Carter was astounded by this revelation as she knew that the space cruiser project wasn't even scheduled to start construction for two years and its construction was expected to take nearly four years.
Selmak and her new host Jenna Volk had finally recovered from the trauma of rapid blending from the dying Saroosh.
Once they had recovered they led a Pangaran military expedition to the Goa'uld Home world.
After walking for a couple of hours the party came to a wide river and Selmak turned to the party and said, "I would suggest that nobody other than my host enter the river.
As Jenna is already a host it is unlikely that another Goa'uld particularly a primitive wild one will attempt to take her as a host.
I will now set the nets in the river and once we have captured sufficient Goa'ulds we will pull in the nets and the trapped Goa'ulds can be transferred to containers that you brought with you."
With this said Selmak set the nets and the Pangaran party sat down to wait for the nets to trap the required Goa'uld queen.
Garshaw and Jolinar escorted the Tok'ra queen Egeria to Abydos.
They had thought that they would be sufficient escort for the Tok'ra queen but the rest of the Tok'ra High Council had thought differently.
So much to their chagrin they and Egeria were escorted by six Tok'ra security officers led by Malek.
Garshaw and Jolinar just hoped that their presence would not scupper the agreement that had been reached to rejuvenate Egeria.
The Tau'ri diplomatic team that met the Tok'ra party didn't even blink at the added security of the Tok'ra party through they were advised that only Egeria and Jolinar of Malkshur would be allowed to travel to the Furling vessel.
