The gray she-cat's bright icy blue eyes widened at the unbelievable, eerily beautiful sight front of her. Palepaw's dark gray paws felt frozen to the ground as her heart glowed, seeming to send sparks of warmth throughout her body.

The whiteish slivery mist rolled thickly in the large, dream-like clearing she found herself in and the large slivery moon above seemed almost blindingly bright as it shown in a billowy, almost transparent beam on two blind, deaf white-blonde kits.

Palepaw approached carefully, still in shock of the meadow as her heart pounded loudly in her chest. Her shaky paw steps guided her to the kits, so pale they almost blended into the thick smoke-like mist.

"Aw!" She cooed quietly as she curled around them, using her tail too guide them to her pale gray, almost white, belly when they latched on strongly, suckling greedily.

"Angelkit," She whispered as a sense of peace washed over her, "… and Lightkit."

Something flashed softly in the corner of her eye, bright and emitting an odd warmth and power. Turning, she was greeted with a strangely familiar sight. A purple-clad human danced gracefully, short, wavy, violet hair whirling around her like an angel's halo. Her pale lips were parted in song Palepaw couldn't hear but felt deep in her bones and soul, making it want to soar.

Behind a tree, she spotted a raven-haired girl silently mouthing along. Her cheeks looked like they ached from smiling, a big, love-stuck, dopey grin on her face and dark gray eyes watery with unshed tears.

Palepaw's ears flattened, eyes gaining a sad but understanding expression as she noticed a black and gray energy around the girl. It seemed to pulse with a bittersweet, deep, resound sadness in time her girl's heartbeat, which the she-cat could feel as plainly as if it were her own.

'Who are you?' She though in awed confusion. The answer hit her like a cool, soothing breeze as she met the girl's gaze.

'You're the author,' Palepaw realized jarringly in excitement. A heartbeat later, her eyes danced with raw, unfathomable sadness as she swallowed thickly, "And your giving me w-what you'll never be able to have."

The girl, looking like she wanted nothing more than to crumple to the ground in a screaming, crying mess nodded sadly before, to Palepaw's surprise, everything faded.

The gray she-cat's bright icy blue eyes widened as she found herself in a normal clearing shadowed with the peaceful darkness of the night. No smoke-like mist, no heartbreakingly beautiful human, no stinging sadness like a deep, raw, aching wound.

"I'm so sorry." Palepaw whispered into the crisp night air. The sky glittered with countless stars.

"Oh!" She exclaimed softly as she gazed at her kits, "you've opened your eyes… how beautiful." Two large pair of unblinking greeted her and she fought the urge to shiver. Angelkit's were a haunting, bright, pale green while Lightkit's were a bright, eerie, violet.

The she-cat squeaked excitedly over her kits' cuteness. She rasped her thin, sandpapery tongue over their impossibly soft fur, purring loudly as they squeaked happily, seeming to snuggle closer.
