Okay, so I know I said I was only doing this as a short story, but after reading the reviews I've come up with some more ideas to continue with this. So, here's the next chapter, enjoy!

DISCLAIMERS: I DON'T OWN WATERLO ROAD OR ANY OF ITS CHARACTERS!

A couple of days later, Rachel walked into the office, a large smile on her face as she spotted Chris sat at her desk. He was immersed in some paperwork and didn't notice her standing there. She knocked on the door, chuckling slightly as he jumped.

"Hey, glad to have you back. How're you feeling?" He stood up and moved towards Rachel, putting his hand tenderly on her arm.

"Good. Great, actually, feeling much better. So, I can see that the school hasn't burned down at least." She said, the grin spreading wider on her face.

"Of course not. It's actually been pretty quiet while you've been off, the kids have been alright. There have been a couple of issues with Finn Sharkey, but nothing that I couldn't handle."

"Aww, good, that's good. I knew there was a reason I chose you as my deputy." They both laughed as she put her bag down and quickly sat down.

"Are you coming down to see the kids before registration? I think they've missed you." She smiled and nodded, before standing up and making her way out of the office behind Chris.

As soon as they got through the front doors, Rachel chuckled as she heard some of the students start shouting.

"Ay Miss, you're back!"

"How's it going Miss?

"Good to have you back Miss!"

She turned to Chris with an amused look on her face.

"Seems you were right."

They stood there for a little while and welcomed the students as they walked into school, before heading off to the hall for assembly. She grinned as she heard the usual ruckus the pupils were making, and walked up onto the stage. Immediately, the students erupted into cheers and applause, and Rachel looked at Chris, assuming he'd told them what had happened.

"Alright, alright, settle down now everyone, thank you." She stood patiently for a moment as she waited for the noise to die down, beaming at the pupils. As soon as the hall was quiet, she cleared her throat before speaking into the microphone.

"First of all, thank you everyone for that, I'm very grateful for the welcoming return." Before she could continue the students began to applaud again. Rachel chuckled before she continued speaking.

"Okay everyone, quieten down, thank you. Now, I'm sure Mr Mead has informed you all, but I'd like to remind you that starting from Monday, no student will be allowed to leave school premises without a signed slip from me or Mr Mead. You will be able to get a slip from any of your teachers, however you must be able to provide proof for why you need to leave, such as notes from parents or doctors." She paused while everyone in the hall groaned. "Everyone, please understand that we would not have put this procedure in place unless it was absolutely necessary. I know Mr Mead has made you all aware about what happened on Monday, and we must ensure that nothing like that happens again. It is for your own safety. Now, one more thing, anyone in Year 10 and 11 will need to meet Mr Mead in the hall at lunchtime today to organise your GCSE tutor sessions. Of course, these sessions are not compulsory, but we would strongly advise you to at least have a look at these sessions as they will help give you the best opportunity to get support with your revision. Right, unless your teachers have any other messages," pausing, she quickly surveyed the hall, looking at her colleagues. When they stayed silent, she looked out at the students. "That's everything then, have a good day everyone. Now, head off to registration, quickly and quietly please."

She walked off the stage and stood by Chris, watching the students leave the hall.

"It's like you were never off." They both chuckled and left hall, following behind the students.

"Right, I've got a meeting with the governors in half an hour which I need to prepare for, I'll see you later Chris." She smiled and turned, making her way back to the office to prepare.

Rachel sighed as she made her way back into the office. As much as she loved being the headteacher of Waterloo Road, the one thing she hated about the role was governor's meetings. Sat in a small conference room while small-minded bureaucrats discussed the school as if Rachel wasn't in the room, and an hour and a half of it too! It was one thing she certainly wouldn't miss if she ever gave the role up, not that she had any plans to in the near future. She walked to her desk and sat down, hoping for a few minutes relaxation before break began, but she groaned as her peace was almost immediately disturbed by the office door opening.

"Rachel, we've got a problem." She heard Chris' worried tone as he made his way into the office. She looked up at him, concern spread across her face.

"What's wrong?"

"Finn Sharkey and Amy Porter." Her brows furrowed at the mention of their names.

"What have they done?"

"They've broken into Kim's office and taken some of the students' files." He held up the numerous papers in his hand. "They've stuck these up all around the school. Private information about the students, including their home situations, medical information...They're in the cooler at the moment, but some of the students who've had their files stolen are very upset."

She groaned again, before asking, "Which files have been taken?"

"Danielle Harker's, Aleesha Dillon's, Karla Bentham's, Bolton Smilie's..." Hearing the mention of Bolton's name, she sighed again, knowing how furious Candice would be with her son's private information being spread around the school, especially considering the situation with Bolton's father.

"Okay... our first priority is gathering all the sheets from the files, the quicker we can stop the spread of this information the easier it will be to handle. I have no doubt that we'll have to deal with some angry parents though." She sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "Would you mind going round and take down any information from the files that you can find, and if need be talk to any parents should they call to complain? I'll go and sort out Finn and Amy in the meantime. So much for an easy first day back." Sighing again, she stood up and made her way out of the office, the anger starting to build as she headed towards the cooler. Walking through the corridors, she spotted some of the sheets stuck to the windows and took them down, before heading into the cooler. Finn and Amy were sat on opposite sides of the room, smirks on their faces as they saw Rachel walk in. She slammed the sheets on the desk, fury written across her face. She paused, taking a moment to consider the right thing to say.

"Right, you can wipe those smirks off your faces if you think you're going to get off lightly for this." Crossing her arms, Rachel began pacing between the desks. "What on earth were you doing, breaking into Miss Campbell's office and stealing those files? They contain some very important and highly confidential information. What were you expecting to gain by spreading that across the school?" Seeing the smirk return on Finn's face, she turned and glared at him.

"We was just doing the right thing Miss, wasn't we Ames?" Finn turned to look at Amy, winking at her.

"And what exactly is the 'right thing', Finn? Publicly humiliating your friends, your classmates, your peers. Sharing their private information, not just embarrassing them, but their parents as well? Since when was any of that 'the right thing' Finn?"

"Aw, but Miss, why should we be in school when there are dangerous people around us, eh? We have the right to know who's around us, don't we Ames?" She watched as Amy nodded her head. Rachel groaned and rubbed a hand over her face, leaning against the desk at the front of the room.

"You alright Miss? Maybe you should've stayed off school for another couple of days." Listening to the sarcastic tone in his voice, she looked at Finn, who was smirking again.

"I'm fine Finn, but I've had it up to here with all the trouble you've caused this term. I've given the two of you enough chances, maybe too many, but this," she held up the sheets. "This just proves to me that perhaps I've made the wrong decision in letting you stay." She sighed heavily.

"What d'you mean Miss?" She heard the fear in Amy's voice.

"It means that I'll be phoning your parents, Amy, and suggesting that they move you to another school. I'm afraid we've done all we can for you, here at Waterloo Road, but obviously, your behaviour just isn't improving."

"But Miss, you can't! All my friends are here!"

"Well, you're not giving me any reasons why I should let you stay." Rachel's heart sank slightly as she saw the terrified look on Amy's face, but suddenly the anger she'd felt before washed over again as she saw the smirk appear on Finn's face again. "In the meantime, Finn, you will stay in here, I will send in a teacher to watch you and do your work. Amy, you will spend the remainder of the day with Mr Mead, gathering all of the sheets of information you and Finn put up. You will both have two weeks of lunchtime detention, and like I said, I'll be phoning your parents. Right, Amy, get your stuff and come with me. Finn, sit there." She left the room with Amy in tow, quickly heading down the corridor where Chris was taking down the sheets.

"Right, Chris, can you keep an eye on Amy? I've instructed her to stay with you and help take down the sheets she put up."

"Yeah, no problem. " She gave him a small smile before heading back down the corridor to sort out Finn. She sighed, wishing that she had taken another day off before coming back.

Closing the office door, Rachel let out a breath of relief as she walked over to her desk and sat down. She'd spent the rest of the day dealing with the mess that Amy and Finn had caused, including having to calm down a very angry and upset Candice. The school bell rang, signalling the end of the day, and Rachel lifted her hand and started to massage her neck, hoping to relieve some of the tension. Hearing a knock at the door, she looked up and smiled as Chris walked through the door.

"Hey, I heard that Candice gave you a bit of a hard time earlier, you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine. She was just upset, understandably. I'd be furious too if my child had their private information spread around the school."

"Yeah, and Finn and Amy? What's happening with them?"

"I phoned their parents, and we agreed that they should have one more chance in school. Her and Finn will be separated during school time, I've organised for Ruby to supervise Amy, and if you don't mind, I've organised for you to supervise Finn. I know you can handle his behaviour. They won't be allowed to have any form of contact with each other during school time, not even at break or lunch."

"Are you sure Ruby's the best person to supervise Amy? Just, with everything that's gone on with her lately, I'm a little concerned that Amy might be too much for her to handle."

"She's the only teacher that's available to supervise her, really, and I told Ruby it was her chance to show me I could rely on her."

"Well, let's hope it works out then." Rachel gave Chris a small smile and leaned back in her chair. She watched as he walked over to her cupboard.

"I think that we deserve a drink, after today. What do you say?" He held up a bottle of wine and two glasses. "You look like you could use one."

She smirked as she eyed the wine, giving into the temptation. "Oh go on then, one drink." She got up and they moved over to the sofa, sitting down and making themselves comfortable. Chris quickly opened the wine and poured two glasses, passing one to Rachel. Taking a sip, she leaned back and closed her eyes, savouring the bitter-sweetness of the drink.

"You were right, I definitely need this." Chris chuckled, taking a large sip from his glass. They drank in a comfortable silence for a couple of minutes, before Rachel leaned over and grabbed the bottle, pouring herself another glass.

"Thank you for your help today Chris." He looked up and smiled at her, a slightly confused look on his face.

"What're you thanking me for? I was just doing what I do everyday."

"I know, I know that. It's just...you're a fantastic deputy, and I'm just glad to have you by my side." She looked, locking eyes with Chris. She felt a flutter in her stomach as she stared at his bright blue orbs. Chris smiled and placed his hand on Rachel's, giving it a light squeeze. The delicate touch made the fluttering increase, and she found herself leaning in slightly, somehow unable to resist the sudden urges. Her heart thudded as Chris leaned in too and their lips connected, taking her breath away. She felt like a teenager again, kissing her boyfriend in the back of his car, only difference being that they were in her office. Cupping her cheek, Chris deepened the kiss, and she leaned into the touch. After a couple of moments, Rachel broke away, breathless. She looked up and saw the slightly shocked expression on his face. Turning away, she cleared her throat.

"Sorry." She stood up, about to move away when Chris grabbed her hand.

"No, don't be. It's my fault. Um, I think I'm going to head off home now." Rachel felt the awkwardness in the air as she nodded. She walked to her desk as Chris stood up and made his way over to the door.

"I'll see you tomorrow." He looked up at her and gave her a small smile before walking out of the office.

Rachel sighed and ran her hand through her hair, cursing inwardly. She walked back over to the sofa and finished her drink, before putting the wine away. Walking back to her desk, she grabbed her bag and left the office, wondering how she was going to sort this out tomorrow.
