Summary: Hinata nodded her head and swallowed the lump in her throat. She took a deep breath. She clutched her fist as determination flashed across her eyes. "I'll be the best Dragon Master!" Abilities and a whole bunch of emotions and a little bit of secrecy? Is Hinata ready to take all of that on? Yes, Hinata will rise up to the challenge and prove to everyone that she is strong.

Author's Note: This idea popped into my head a couple of years ago, I wrote down my chapter 1 and a small description in google docs. I found it while going through my folders and decided to continue it. Chapter 1 has changed dramatically since the one I had started years ago. I am not sure if I will be able to update this regularly. Reviews keep me motivated. I support constructive criticism so please give it to me. Flames however I do not like. The first couple of chapters will be an introduction to the new world for Hinata and introducing her to her dragon but then we will get into the very juicy parts of the story. This does not follow the canon plot much only a little bit then it ventures off.

Chapter 1

The Crystal And Dragon Realm

0o0

Hinata Hyuga walked into her bedroom and silently closed the door behind her. She once again lost to a spar with Hanabi. She shuddered as she crawled into her bed, tears threatening to fall as she brought her fluffy lavender blanket over her head and hid under it. She hated how the elder's judging eyes stared at her as she sparred with Neji or Hanabi and most importantly hated how they whispered just enough so she could hear. The way their eyes glared at her as she did the simplest thing such as blink. She would never be strong enough for them.

She didn't like how she could never seem to make her father proud of her or happy. Any improvement she saw in herself would be automatically declined and compared to either Neji or Hanabi. Any attempt to make him proud went down the drain. She tried her best. She worked her hardest to achieve what he wanted her to achieve and she just could not do it or she just did not improve at the rate he and the elders wanted her too.

Hanabi would take the title of heiress soon. Hinata knew and she was ready to bet her life on it. She heard the whispers exchanged between her father and the elders. She knew all too well

Hinata quickly removed the blanket from herself when she felt herself having trouble breathing and her face and body growing hot from the warmth. She took a deep breath trying to force herself not to cry which only made it worse, tears falling quicker than ever before. She inhaled deeply, doing breathing exercises to calm herself down.

Hinata looked up over to the corner of her room where her closet showed. A small lavender purplish color emitted from the closet. The strange light making Hinata pause, no sounds coming out of her while her tears still appeared to be falling. She brought her arm up to her face and used her sleeve to wipe away the tears. She looked at the glowing light for a couple of seconds before she brought her hands up to her eyes, rubbing them. She blinked a few times before she carefully crawled out of her bed and shakily walked to her closet to investigate the strange light.

She slid open the closet door and stared inside to find the source of the light. It was easy to find since her closet was organized and wasn't filled with much stuff. In the corner there was a shoebox, the light was coming from the inside. Hinata reached for the box and carefully carried it over to her bed. She sat down on the bed and placed the box in front of her. She lifted the lid of the box and placed it next to it.

Inside was a crystal, paper wrapped around it. Hinata picked it up and let a silent gasp. Her mother had given her the crystal a couple of days before she died.

Keep it safe Hinata. Her mother, Hitomi Hyuga, had said to her when she was given the crystal. There will come a day when you will need it. Her younger self never understood what the crystal would be important for but she had promised her mother and kept it in a shoebox and hid it away in her closet until now.

"Wow," Hinata whispered in awe as she looked at the crystal once she carefully unwrapped the paper from it. "So pretty." It was a small crystal able to fit into her palm. It was transparent, a light lavender but the crystal itself was emitting a purple aura. Hinata carefully brought the crystal up to her face so she could get a closer look at it. The crystal ended up glowing harder, making a strong light.

Suddenly her hand started burning, the crystal not stopping its glowing at all. Tears appeared in Hinata's eyes as the burning continued. From her right hand up to her entire right arm then her shoulder going towards her left shoulder then down her left arm to her left hand. The burning continued from her neck going down to her chest until her legs ended up burning. Now her face was burning as well. She hissed as she closed her eyes, tears were threatening to spill.

Until she felt her body hit her bed and darkness consumed her.

. . .

Hinata stood straight up when she felt herself awake. She looked around. She was no longer in her bed, she was no longer in the Hyuga Compound and it was also safe to assume that she was most likely not even in Konoha anymore. The ground was red rocks, sparks of fire erupting off of them. Hinata retracted her hand towards her chest as she felt a small spark hit. As she looked up the sky was dark red. No clouds, no moon, no sun. Nothing. Just dark red. Hinata frowned. She didn't know where she was and she was alone. Her head went down to stare at the ground and her eyes widened when she saw the same crystal laying there on the ground untouched, the glowing ceasing to exist.

She hunched down and picked it up. "Did you bring me he-here?" She asked the crystals slowly. She frowned once more and sighed. "I think you did."

Hinata started to walk the clearing. The place was weird. The red rocks were weird, The fire was weird. The sky was weird. She just wanted to go back home and lay in her bed where everything was normal and not weird.

She walked through everything up small red rocky hills and down. Hinata let out a gasp, jumped in the air and landed on her butt. A loud roar had scared her. Hinata whimpered and picked herself up and started walking towards the noise.

Following the noise, she reached a very tall hill. Hinata sighed, pocketed her crystal in her pocket, and started to climb the hill carefully and very slowly. She stood on top of the hill and her eyes widened at what she came across.

Two dragons stood facing each other. One dragon was light blue, lightning erupting from its scales and wings. The other one was all red, fire coming off of the end of its tail and its ears and small fire sparks erupting from its scales. Both dragons were glaring at each other.

Beneath the lightning dragon stood a male. Brown spiky hair and brown eyes looking intently at the dragon. He was tall, had a good build but not super muscly. He wore a long-sleeved dark shirt. One sleeve was ripped off to show a dragon tattoo wrapping around his arm, the head of the dragon laying on top of the boy's hand. The dragon tattoo was many variations of blue. He had on black pants that were ripped at the end. A lightning bolt design on one of the leg sleeves. He wore blue ninja sandals.

Beneath the fire dragon stood another male. His hair literally looked like fire. He had black eyes. He was slightly taller than the lightning boy. He wore a red tight sleeved shirt, over that shirt a black jacket that was open so you could see the shirt. He had black pants and his right leg sleeve was ripped off. His dragon tattoo wrapped around his right leg. He had on red sandals. His black jacket had a fire design on the bad.

Hinata blinked. Lighting and fire danced around the dragons and the two boys. "So cool." She told herself in awe. She was scared, yes but she had to admit seeing this would be probably the coolest thing to ever happen to her. Her eyes widened a fraction when both of the boys' heads snapped over to her and she yelped and stood there in shock. How had they heard her?

The lightning male chuckled softly. "Looks like our battle has to wait, Ryuu. We have a newbie here." Hinata yelped once again as she seemed to teleport towards the two adults.

The fire boy, Ryuu shook his head in disappointment before nodding. "Whatever, Raiden. Have fun with that." Ryuu looked over at his fire dragon. "Draco, retreat." Hinata once again watched in awe as Draco huffed slightly before a red light engulfed him until he was only a small bright red dot in the air. The red dot moved over to Ryuu's tattoo on his leg and got sucked into the tattoo, the tattoo glowing slightly. Ryuu's leggings started to repair itself until it looked good as new. Ryuu's black eyes landed on Hinata's lavender ones. "Good luck on your journey, newbie." He then was gone.

Raiden chuckled fondly before looking down at Hinata. "Hey there. Don't worry about Ryuu. He's like that all the time. He's actually really nice." Hinata nodded and blushed when she remembered Ryuu telling her good luck. "My name is Raiden and the dragon over there is my partner and buddy, Levinia. She looks all scary and aloof but she's actually a sweetheart once you get to know her."

Hinata looked up at Levinia and smiled when she noticed a small red blush on the dragon's face. "Hi-Hi L-Levinia."

Levinia leaned her head down at her. Hinata smiled and carefully with a shaky hand reached over and pet her. Levinia then lifted her head back up standing tall and proud. Hinata giggled.

Raiden smiled and shook his head. "In the tattoo, you go Lev!" Hinata watched as a light blue aura engulfed the dragon before becoming a small blue dot and moving towards the tattoo on Raiden's arm. It was sucked in, the tattoo glowed and Raiden's shirt sleeve was repaired. "What's your name, sweetie?"

Hinata blushed and ducked her head. "My name is H-Hina-Hinata H-H-Hyuga." Hinata lifted her head up and looked at Raiden. He had a thoughtful expression.

"Any relation to Hitomi Hyuga?" He asked softly.

Hinata nodded quietly. "S-Sh-She was my m-m-mo-mother." She answered with a stutter. She frowned after. How could he even understand her with the stutter? "Di-Did you know h-her?"

Raiden smiled at her. "Yeah. When we were younger we had dated, we had a mutual break up. Then she met some Hyuga bastard and never seemed to come by into this world anymore."

Hinata frowned. This man used to date her mother? How did she start with him and end up with someone like her father? Hinata shook her head. She did not have any ill will towards her father, she loved him but he could be a little controlling most of the time and rough. Hinata's frown deepened once she realized that her mother probably did want to come over here but couldn't because of Hiashi.

"Hey-Hey!" Raiden started. "Don't get sad. I'm not mad or anything! Come on! Cheer up! You're in the Dragon Realm now! I bet you your mother wanted you to come here. I'm not mad at anyone."

Hinata nodded.

Raiden smiled at her. "Come on, let's go into the Lightning town and get some food for you. I'll explain everything over food and on the way back!" He then went down on one knee. "Hop on my back. I'll walk us there and you don't have to worry about getting tired!"

Hinata blushed, wanting to refuse but she looked at Raiden's face and knew there would be no arguing and so she hopped on his back. He stood up and Hinata wrapped her small arms around his neck.

"This place is the Dragon Realm." Raiden started to explain. "There are many people who inhabit this Realm. Some people prefer this Realm more than the Ninja Realm. Some people just come by to see the cute dragons. Others stay here as long as they want." Hinata smiled cute dragons. "This realm is cut into 5 different areas just as the dragons here have only 5 different types of energy. Just like-"

Hinata smiled. "Just like Nature Transformations!" She exclaimed, cutting Raiden off. "Levinia is of lightning nature. While Draco was of a fire nature."

Raiden chuckled. "That's correct, Hinata."

Hinata frowned. "Sorry for in-interrupting you."

"It's fine Hinata. You can do that whenever you know something. I would like to see you engaged in what you are learning." Hinata nodded enthusiastically so Raiden continued. "The four different areas are Fire Town, Lightning Town, Wind Town, Earth Town, and Water Town. I'm sure you know which ones are strong and weak too?" Hinata nodded. "Good. Many dragons of different natures inhabit here but you can find the specific nature you are looking for in town or a little bit further out. So if you want a lightning dragon you should search in Lightning Town or near it."

Hinata nodded in understanding.

"The only way to get into the Dragon Realm is if you find a specific crystal, a Dragon Crystal. They are either handed down from family members or you find them in certain areas in the Ninja Realm."

Hinata nodded. "My mommy gave it to me before she died and told me to protect and wait because it will be important. I see why now."

Raiden nodded. "Your mother was a very smart woman. The other way to get in and out of the Dragon Realm is with a Dragon Tattoo. You can channel the power and teleport here or to the Ninja Realm. The way to get a Dragon Tattoo is by using the Dragon Crystal you have to capture the dragon you find. The dragon's Spirit gets transferred over to the Dragon Crystal and the Dragon Crystal will melt on your skin creating the Dragon Tattoo and your bond with your dragon."

Hinata nodded in awe surprised at what she heard and in surprise as she watched her surroundings. They had stepped into the lightning area of the Dragon Realm. The stone and ground were now a dark blue and small lightning sparks in the air. Lightning hit the ground making Hinata shake slightly but she somehow felt at ease with Raiden. "Wow! This place ge-g-gets cooler and cooler!" She exclaimed.

Raiden laughed. "Yeah, it does. You can have more than 1 Dragon Tattoo but no more than 3. It has proven that if you do get more your body will either explode and you will die. Some people can't handle 2 let alone 3. So far I only have Levinia as my buddy but I do look forward to having another friend. It is very difficult to come by Dragon Crystal's these days but I do try my best to try and find them."

"I want a dragon!"

"Well, you have to bond with one and choose which one you like. Sometimes some Dragons do not want to be captured, some do and some you need to physically battle to prove that you are worthy to be their Dragon Master. These dragons have the biggest egos and pride you'll ever see. Ryuu battled Draco for a month on and off to prove himself that he was worthy. Draco was a small dragon at the time. Dragons have to be babies so you can capture them. In the end he was able to win friendship with Draco and they have been friends since. I met Levinia when she was hurt and hiding in a lightning cave. She had refused my help for weeks but I knew when I first saw her that she would be my best friend so I tried my best to help her, I gave her food and toys and stayed by her side until she was able to trust me."

Hinata cried and laughed throughout the story and explanation. They soon ended up in town and Hinata jumped off of Raiden and thanked him. On their way to town, Hinata had spotted some Dragons but they were so big and scary looking to her. "No problem, Hinata. It was no trouble. I know this amazing cinnamon roll and Dango place. We can go eat there!"

. . .

Raiden had paid for their cinnamon rolls and Dango. Hinata had thanked him with a small blush and now they were sitting at a table outside the store. Hinata watched with a small smile as she saw many small children run with their small dragons flying above them and twirling around them causing the kids to giggle and hug the dragons. "Th-This place is amazing!" She exclaimed, getting out of her shell a little. She felt very comfortable in this Realm and felt at ease with having someone as kind as Raiden helping her out. She then turned around to look at Raiden, bowed quickly, and thanked him. "Th-T-Thank you for helping me!"

Raiden smiled at her, his brown eyes looking at her. "No problem, Hinata." He replied waving his hand. "I would love to help. So far I've explained almost everything. Just need to go over the three stages of the bond you will have with your future dragon. The first stage is Loyalty, then Trust, then the last one is Friendship. It's easy to go through these stages especially if your dragon has a good personality and has taken a liking towards you. It's especially difficult if your dragon is a rebel. Some dragons don't obey, some dragons want you to work for their power."

Hinata nodded in understanding soaking up all the information she had gotten. Raiden smiled at her and continued. "You will be able to tell what stage you are with your Dragon Tattoo." He pulled up his right sleeve exposing his tattoo. "The tattoo starts off small, indicating you are at the Loyalty stage, then it will get longer which indicates Trust and then the tattoo will develop to its final stage with more details to it and become bigger which will indicate Friendship."

Hinata leaned forward into her seat to see the tattoo. The tattoo had many different shades of blue, showing the dragons scales and wings with lots of details. "Yo-Y-You're at Friendship?" She asked quietly.

Raiden nodded. "It took a couple of years but it was well worth it." He explained.

Hinata blinked. "How do you know so much?"

"I went to the Dragon Academy here." He explained. "At first I had planned on going to the Ninja Academy in the Ninja Realm but then I realized I would much rather enjoy it here. Your mother had chosen the Ninja Academy but she dropped by once in a while to sneak into some of the lessons." He explained with a chuckle. He continued. "Some people choose to stay in the Ninja Academy while coming here on occasions to train with their dragon, some train their dragons in the Ninja Realm. It really depends on your taste." Raiden looked at her with a small smile. "Do you know what you plan on doing?"

Hinata thought about it. "Well… I am already enrolled in the Ninja Academy." She started explaining. "My father wants me to be a ninja and become very strong so I co-c-could be an heiress. Whic-W-Which will most likely go down to my y-yo-younger sister because sh-s-she shows more potential in a day then I do in a month. Well, at least that is what my fa-f-fath-father said to me."

Raiden squinted his eyes as he listened to Hinata talk.

"He says that I do not have much-much p-p-pot-potential." She finalized. "The clan does-does no-not t-t-think high-highly of me."

"Don't listen to him or the elders or anyone that says you don't have potential." Raiden hissed through his teeth. "You have so much potential in you. You just need to find it from deep within you and bring it out. You do not need to take that kind of verbal and emotional abuse from your own clan. In no time your clan will fear you and will make sure they bow down to your feet."

Hinata giggled. "I hope so."

"I know so," Raiden replied quickly with a smile. "I will teach you everything I know. You will be an amazing Dragon Master!"

Hinata nodded her head and swallowed the lump in her throat silent tears in her eyes. She took a deep breath. She clutched her fist as determination flashed across her eyes. "I'll be the best Dragon Master!"

Raiden smiled at her, picked both their plates up, and threw them out. "Come on. We can worry about what you plan on doing later. Now let's go get yourself a dragon."

Hinata's eyes widened and a grin forming on her small face. "Y-Y-Yeah. A dra-dr-dragon! One step closer to being a Dragon Master!"

Raiden chuckled. "Now. What kind of dragon do you want?"

Hinata blinked. "Um… I do not know."

Raiden laughed out loud. "You sound like me when I was younger."

Hinata blushed. "I will figure it out."
