Anakin took a moment to catch his breath to recover from the latest attack. I'm getting too old for this, the former Jedi thought as he wiped the sweat from his brow. Anakin was exhausted after spending the day out in the moisture fields, but Luke insisted on sparring after they had finished their work. Anakin never could say no to a good lightsaber duel. At thirteen, Luke was starting to become quite the opponent. The boy was eager to learn how to fight with a laser sword, and he picked up the technique very quickly. Very similar to his father at that age.
Anakin quickly looked up as he saw his son lunge toward him, the sky blue blade of his old training saber just inches from his face when he raised his own to clash with it. Anakin pushed Luke's blade away, stepping forward and extending his saber with a swift motion. Luke was quick to block his father's strike. The two blue blades clashed against each other again, and before he had realized what was happening, Anakin went flying backwards.
He hit the ground hard. Anakin tried to get to his feet, but fell back down onto his stomach. He heard his son quickly run over to him. "Dad, are you alright?" the boy asked frantically, rolling his father over to examine him. Anakin looked up at Luke and began to laugh exuberantly. Luke rolled his eyes and smiled back, offering a hand to help his father up. "That wasn't funny, I thought I had really hurt you!"
"It takes a lot more than a Force push to put me out," Anakin said as he rose to his feet. "But that was very well done."
The pair then heard Padme's voice echoed across the desert, announcing that dinner was ready. "We'd better go in, we'll practice some more tomorrow," Anakin said, putting an arm around his son's shoulders. They walked back towards the homestead as the bright Tatooine suns disappeared into the horizon before them.
