"Why are you running away?! Don't you want to play with Baby Splashy?"
A Smantie jumped over a rock, flattening himself behind it. Sweat was jumping out of his head, as he couldn't stop looking around. A shadow covered his back… he turned in its direction, watching a small muzzle pointed at his eyes.
"Gotcha!" Great grinned.
Ratatata-SPLAT!
She was now watching the small Stingray flying away, in front of a dark-green ink behind.
"Slick move right there, super-genius!" She nodded, slowly turning the other way.
Two Stinglings were dashing in her direction, while shooting goo out of their Splattershot-like weapons. Greta rolled her eyes, as she smiled and cocked her-
Swoosh!
Her mouth opened, looking at the source: Bars was holding his Mighty Roller behind his head, while in midair… and swung his weapon, once his feet were on the rock's tip. A wave of dark-green ink was floating in midair, landing right where the duo was.
SPLA-SPLAT!
Around Greta, things were moving in slow motion: her eyes sparkled, as she was watching the boy looking back at her, while lowering his weapon. She began blushing, almost letting her weapon fall down… when Bars began waving his arms around, stumbling.
"Wwhhhooooaaaaaa!" His eyes went large. "Tiiimmmbbeeeeerrr!"
Greta's irises shrunk, as she instantly swift as soon as the tall boy was about to hit her head.
THUMP!
Bars was face down on the grass, as his weapon crushed the grass in front of him.
"Get yourself up! Don't make me count to 10!" The girl leaned closer to him.
He lifted his head, with the face covered in ink and dirt. He shook his head, as he laughed. Greta tilted away from him… before bursting into laughter.
"Aaaaah, you silly boy!" She took a quick breath. "You sure know how to surprise a girl!"
"Really?" Bars pointed his sight at her. "How did I do that…?"
Greta blushed a lot, opening her mouth.
"Yo-you didn't surprise me at all!" She curled a bit. "Th-that was… m-my signature talkin', you know! You should have studied more Gretology, instead of napping in class!" She frowned, waving her left forefinger at him.
"Eh eh! Like…" Closing his eyes, he grins slightly. "… for some reason, that phrase sounded way off the traditional Greta we all know and love."
Greta blushed even more, as she turned behind.
"Step it up, lazy kid!" She walked away from him. "We gotta carry the two lovesquids with"
"They went home, girl!" Bars stands up, with his mouth downturned.
Greta was looking back at him, expanding her eyes.
"You gave them the key?!"
Bars nodded.
"Girl, Mirii was worried ship… I didn't had the courage to leave her alone with her pain…" He shrugged.
…
"Why you…" Her irises were small.
"Eeehhmm… I-I shouldn't had done that, right…?" His shoulders rose, while grimacing.
Greta rushed towards him, as the boy squeezed his eyes even more!
…
Her arms were wrapped around his shoulders. Bars reopened his eyes wide, blushing a lot.
"… you really know how to surprise a girl…!" Her eyes closed, blushing in the same way.
"Uh? Wha?" His mouth rose.
"… time's up!" She unwrapped her arms, going away from him. "Back to Stingray splatting!"
"Like, all by ourselves?" Bars opened his arms.
"Who's gonna clean the floor then, big boy?" Greta turned back at him. "It's not like we are gonna fight a horde of Stingays, anyway!" She opened her arms, chuckling and lowering her eyelids to the middle. "We just need to splat down those mere fanatics and get back home!"
"Whoa, like… getting back home on foot?!" Bars picked up his weapon. "Do you even know where to go…?"
"Pfffff! You are looking at a living map of this island!" She resumed her previous walk, waving her arm in the same direction. "Come on now, Barsy! Don't let a bunch of miles scare your feet and help me clean this mess!"
Bars groaned, as he followed the girl…
Hun was sliding down on the slope, surrounded by rocky walls and lanterns holding a small light inside. He passed through the hole entrance, stopping and catching a breath. His eyes began pointing at each element they could see: aside from the larger lanterns on the walls, he tracked a river in the middle of the sandy-like terrain.
A pile of small rocks were cumulated on the right side. Ultimately, his eyes rested on the sign nearby. He reached its position and began looking carefully at the words drawn on it.
"… eh? What does that mean?" His right eye lowered its top side a little. "Wish I could understand this odd language…"
He sighed.
"Brrr! It-it's better I get moving, before I freeze!" He slid away from the sign. "Wish I had my kimono… actually, I wish I could just return to myself!" His eyes squeezed. "Wait…" His eyes reopened. "… I AM myself! After all, I'm still a Squid!"
He stopped, frowning a little.
"No, wait… even when I'm in that other form, I'm still a Squid! Except… different!" Sweat jumped out of his head. "Waaaiiittt… but… bu-but why that other form is supposed to be me? Isn't this one as much of myself as I am?"
His eyes squeezed again.
"Bu-but… I AM myself! Wh-why I wish so much to become"
Step noises burst into the air, for a brief second.
"Ah! Stingrays!" His irises moved left and right.
He held his sight on the pile of small rocks: the Squid dashed towards them, almost somersaulting in the process. Hun jumped, standing vertically and tilting sideways in a semi-rhythm. A man Stingling popped out from the far-right corner, holding his shooter weapon tightly and keeping his eyes as focused as possible.
He was wearing heavy boots, a bit dirt on the tips. Hun frowned. After some seconds, his eyes began looking non-stop at the pile of rocks. His feet were now sinking in place and his weapon was kind-off aiming shyly at it.
"… if I move out like this, he's will easily splat me down. I hate saying this again, but… what should I do?" The Squid gave his back to the pile. "Hmm… let's see…"
Step noises burst once again. Hun almost rolled forward: he laid down, keeping his eyes wide. The Stingling was moving while crouching, solidly keeping his gun at the small mountain. He kept his breath… before jumping sideways and shooting at the dark-green ink resting on the pile's other side.
Hun jumped on the pile's peak, immediately bouncing right after, as he began spinning in midair.
SPLAT!
The Squid left a sigh, as soon as he slid away from the field.
"I hope I can remember this tactic!" He pressed his own mind. "I have to sneak-attack, I have to sneak-attack, I have to sneak-attack… … is this the right way of remembering things?"
Frush!
A Smantie rose his back covered in dirt.
"Yikes!" Hun slipped on the terrain.
He spitted goo at the Squid, before turning behind and bouncing away. Hun shook himself, as goo flew on the ground and melted into it.
"… I shouldn't splat everyone I see." His eyes closed. "I don't see the reason why I should do that, any"
Frush!
Frush!
Frush!
In rapid succession, a group of Smanties emerged from the ground, all positioned around the Squid and holding their mouths…
