"Oh no!" Hun curled into himself.
The Smanties spitted in synchronization. The Squid slid right under them, as he spin-jumped at the nearest foe in sight.
SPLAT!
A small Stingray left the floor, as Hun was still proceeding after a female Smantie! She gasped, while shaking her fins at the Squid. He stopped, closing his eyes, as dust was flying all around him. More goo spits were coming from various directions, all aimed at the Squid.
FUM!
Hun super-jumped away from the now-covered goo spot, landing several feet from the Stingray group and immediately rushing towards a right turn.
"Mirii! Where are you?!" His eyes squeezed. "I'm tired of this form!"
He proceeded along the turn, as darkness was slowly covering all the lights…
"… eh? Eh? Why is this place dark? … uh…"
"Rrrrrrrrrr…"
"… should had looked the way"
"RROOOOOAAAAARRRR!"
Hun emerged back from the shadows, as his face got paler. Drifting the turn, he faced back towards the Smanties.
"THE BEAST IS BACK!" A male Smantie turned away.
The Smantie group yelled and screamed, all swarming their way to the wall. Each Stingray passed through it, as some of them were still slamming against it.
The Squid blinked his eyes, which were seeing the last Smantie who disappeared inside the wall.
"RROOOOOAAAAARRRR!"
"How did they do that?!" He drifted to a stop, aiming at the same spot the Smanties passed through. "… aaaah, now I see it!"
Heavy steps sounds were making Hun's eardrums tremble… as the Squid charged at the wall and going through a smaller cave, which was sharing a similar wall pattern to the main one.
VUUM!
A large, furry arm with long claws entered inside the small cave, almost reaching the Squid. The monster roared, while pulling back the claws together with accumulated pieces of rock and dirt.
"Wh-what was that?!" Hun expanded his eyes. "No, wait... I-I don't even want to know anything about it!"
He yelped silently.
"Ow, ow… n-no! I'm not thinking about that monster!"
He began yelping a bit, as he slow down.
"Ouch! Wh-why my stomach is hurting so much?! I don't even have that much of a fear"
He stopped, now holding on himself and yelping in an increasingly high frequency.
"AAAH!" He began rolling left and right. "What's happening to my stomach?! Ouch, ouch! Th-this is not… AH! Th-this is not a f-fear reac-YEOUCH!"
The Squid rested on the floor, looking at the rocky ceiling. He began breathing loudly, sweating visibly.
"… this is not fear… this is not fear…" His eyes squeezed. "I-I could go back and fight that monster, if it wasn't for this stomach ache… OW! Then, why my stomach is still hurting?!" He snorted, slamming his tentacles on the floor and keeping his mouth closed. "OUCH! AGH! Ow! Oooowww… uuugghh… uff… urgh… aaah… … huh? The pain is… going away?"
His face went neutral, as his muscles relaxed.
"… odd… now I can feel something else in its place."
His irises… turned pitch black.
"… splat… I have to… splat…"
Greta was walking on the grass, while frowning.
"Uuuugghh!" She opened her arms, while shaking her head. "Where are those turfin' Stingrays?!"
"Like, didn't you said that you knew well those places…?" Bars chuckled, while grinning and holding his weapon with one hand.
"Ah-ah-ah!" Greta showed her forefinger tilting sideways, as her tongue stuck out and her right eye closed. "Don't twist those words in my mouth!" She shrugged, while grinning. "I said to know this island, yes… but I didn't imply I would know the Stingray's secret location!"
"Oh… eh eh!" His mouth rose, growing a simple smile. "Like… do you know any secret locations in this place?"
Greta kept staring back at her friend, forming a small dot with her mouth. She blinked her eyes, seeing mental images of herself as a kid, looking at large hole surrounded by grass: inside the hole, a small river was passing by, surrounded by-
She dashed at full speed towards Bars, jumping with the same amount of strength, right at him! Her arms and legs latched onto him, as her head rubbed below his neck.
"YOU ARE A GENIUS!" She was now looking back at him, with her eyes sparkling. "Why don't you use that sponge of yours more often?!"
"Ha ha!" The boy grins, lifting his chest. "Like, I need the inspiration for acting smart…! It's the special Bars moment I gotta build it up, so you could tell that I did it!"
Greta lowered her eyelids to the middle, smiling widely.
"Uuuuuhh, you prepare your smart moments? I like that…" She fell away from him, turning behind afterwards. "… shall we get going to the Stingray's secret location?"
"Like, do you have any idea where they went…?" He watched Greta walking forward, as he followed her.
"More than just a mere idea!" Greta's left forefinger rose. "I have the winning card in my mind!" She nodded. "The card who shows us the only possible place, where those Stinkrays could hide!"
"And… where is that?" He tilted his head, still walking forward.
"Oh oh! Ease down with those wild questions, big boy!" Her arms moved around. "Allow Greta to explain everything in one, slick shot! Not that it's difficult to do, anyway…"
"Alright, girl!" Bars nodded. "I'm all ears."
"Gooood!" Greta giggled. "So… thanks to that brilliant question of yours, I just remembered one of many moments of my childhood, before hitting big with my acting career!"
She cleared her voice.
"Which iiiiiiiss…" She spun, while proceeding forward. "… my dreamy explorations at the great hole!" Her arms opened wide, keeping her eyes closed and smiling. "I bet I was around 5, when I discovered this huuuuge hole somewhere in those fields!"
"Ha ha!" Bars nodded, while grinning.
"I still remember those days…" Greta looked to the night. "… when my grandpa took me for a walk around here…"
She chuckled, holding her stomach and pointing her head back down.
"I was such a little brat, I kept running away from grandpa and explore those fields to my heart's content!" She grinned. "I was jumping on rocks, rolling on the grass, running across that forest you see over there…"
Her forefinger pointed at a collection of trees sitting on a hill slope.
"… and once I was out of that forest, I went all 'Wwoooooww!' and saw the biggest hole ever!" Her eyes grew, opening her left hand wide. "It was surrounded by a railing, yes, but that didn't stop me from rushing all the way over there and have a sneak peek at the hole!"
Her arms stretched both to the left, while grinning widely.
"Once my little eyes were looking down at it… wwoooooww! I was seeing rocky walls, a small river at the bottom with a sand-like surface nearby!" She whistled. "What a view! I was instantly thinking to be right in the middle of an expedition!"
"Like, is there even the possibility of reaching such place…?" Bars' mouth rose.
"… I was getting to that part!" Her left forefinger was tilting around, again. "As the curious Squid I was back then, I began going around and around the railing… for some reason, I had this thought in mind that there must have been a secret manhole or something hidden in the grass!"
She laughed loudly.
"Aaaah, I still remember how many tufts I picked up!" A small tear left her eye. "I tossed them all over the place too!" She looked upwards. "I think I chucked some of them off the hole too!" Her head shook rapidly. "Anyway! Thing is, I 'believe' I have found something who resembles a possible entrance!"
"Uuuhhm, like… you have seen a… manhole?" Bars scratched the back of his hand.
"More like a door! A door on a rock!" Greta nodded, as her hands went together with the Baby Splattershot sticking out from the middle. "I happened to see it, just before my grandpa grabbed me and took me away!" Her mouth downturned slightly.
The two Inklings were getting closer and closer to the forest…
"I did return some other times near that hole, with the intention of finding that mystical door… but I couldn't find it anymore!" Greta shrugged. "That was mostly because my grandpa got smart and caught me, before I would even have the chance to take a glimpse at that rock!"
"Like, that's where we come into play… eh?" Bars chuckled, positioning his weapon closer to his right shoulder's tip. "We gotta smash that rock wide open!"
"More like us playing detectives around that giant hole!" The girl clenched her fist, holding her small weapon. "So, what are we waiting for?! Let's get explorin'!" She rushed ahead.
Bars groaned, as he ran after the girl.
