Tell Me How To Fix You

Chapter 26

By: The Duchess of Arendelle

AN: Here we are. It's finally happening! This is my longest chapter ever with over 5,000 words! I stayed up all night and well into the morning writing this and I only proof read it twice so forgive me for any and all mistakes. I know there are some! I just really wanted to get this posted. School has been cray cray so that's why I haven't updated in over a week. I apologize! But here we go, get ready for the feels!

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for!

"…ok, thanks again Kristoff. Now, are you sure you have everything set up on your part?" Anna asked her blonde friend nervously over the phone. Kristoff was currently helping Anna set up for part two of her surprise for Elsa. It had instantly came to her and she couldn't wait to see the look on Elsa's face. Kristoff sighed heavily on the other end. "For the millionth, billionth, time. Yes, everything is all set and ready to go. Shouldn't you be getting ready for your date now? It's like, 6:20 and I bet you're just standing in front of your closet in your underclothes. Am I right?" Kristoff said knowingly. Anna just knew he was sporting a smug grin. The redhead looked down at herself in her matching green bra and panty set, and then up at the closet she was currently standing in front of. She scoffed loudly. Too loud. "…No, you're wrong…" she said unconvincingly. Kristoff just shook his head. "Yeah. Right. Ok. Anyway, everything's good over here, just give me the word and I'll be ready, ok? Now stop worrying and get dressed, you don't want to keep Elsa waiting, do you?" he asked in a light tone. Inside he was dying. He wished Anna was going through all this trouble for him and not Elsa. But he'd rather have the redhead as a friend then not have her at all. At least that's what he kept telling himself. Anna smiled and took in a calming breath, slowly letting it out.

"Yeah. Yeah, you're right. I should stop worrying so much and just- just get dressed and head over to Elsa's for our date. Our date. Wow, it still doesn't feel real. I feel like… I'll be waking up any moment now to find that all of this is just a dream, or someone is going to jump out from somewhere and scream 'SYKE!' in my face." Anna sighed wistfully into the receiver. "Kristoff, have you ever felt that way about someone? You feel so… privileged and lucky to just be near them. And- and you try to convince yourself that being near them is enough, but deep down inside, you know that it will never be enough. And sometimes the love you feel towards that person is so strong that it hurts. It physically hurts, because your heart beats so hard against your chest, and when you see them or think about them, your breathing picks up so fast that your lungs burn trying to compensate... I-" Anna cut herself off when she thought she heard a slight sniffle on the other end. She mentally berated herself. She had completely forgotten Kristoff's feelings for her, she was so caught up in her own feelings for Elsa that she didn't consider Kristoff's. "Kristoff I-" she was again cut off, this time by the blonde on the other end. "I'll um… I'll talk to you later okay? Ju- just send me the signal and I'll have everything ready. Ok bye." And just like that Anna was listening to a dial tone, contemplating ways to make this up to her blonde best friend. She sighed sadly and turned back to her closet. "Okay Anna, you can't think about this now. Just concentrate on your date. Where did I put my guitar…"

****FROZEN****

Elsa was not freaking out. She was not pacing back and forth inside her large closet trying to figure out what she was going to wear for her date with Anna. She wasn't even freaking out about the fact she had a date with Anna. And she most definitely wasn't freaking out about the impending kiss she had made up her mind she was going to share with Anna tonight. She wasn't. Really. Okay, maybe a little bit. Alright, who was she trying to fool, she was completely freaking out. She had no idea where last night's confidence had come from, but she wished it would come back. "Alright Elsa, you can do this." She said out loud. 'No you can't.' that always doubting voice in the back of her mind said. 'You've only been on a date once, and your parents made you go on it. Plus we all remember the train wreck that turned out to be.' It continued to mock. "That wasn't my fault. Hans was a sleazy jerk… it wasn't my fault." She said as she sat down on the plush carpet, knees coming to her chest in a position she was all too familiar with. 'Yeah, well, he isn't the one who cried and fled the restaurant halfway through the second course.'

"He had put his hand on my knee! He was making an inappropriate move on me!"

'And what if Anna tries the same thing? Hmm? Where are you going to run then?'

"This is different. Anna is different. She wouldn't do that. Anna loves me, she won't push me to do something I'm not ready to do. She wouldn't do that. She loves me." Elsa tried to reassure herself.

'Does she love you? What if she's just using you? You are technically her boss. And why is she trying so hard to help you with your company? Everyone has an ulterior motive. You know that…'

"STOP! Just stop! Anna loves me. Anna loves me." Elsa began to repeat to herself. Anna did love her, she knew it for a fact. That voice in her head that was always telling her how useless she was had been notably, and thankfully absent for months now, ever since Anna had become such a permanent fixture in her life. But now it began to rear its ugly head again, voicing all of Elsa's fears and doubts. As if reading her emotions from 2 floors down, Elsa's phone began to vibrate with a text from the redhead. Elsa grabbed her phone with shaky hands and read the text.

'Hey snowflake, I just wanted to say I'm super excited for our date tonight! Can't wait to see you, and don't forget, I'm cooking. Hope you like chicken parmesan! :)'

Elsa's face broke out in a small smile. She didn't know how the redhead did it, but she always found a way to reassure the blonde, even if she didn't know it. Elsa wiped away the tears that had begun falling prior to Anna's text, and rose from the ground. With new found vigor, she began looking through her closet again for something to wear, instantly spotting the perfect dress.

****FROZEN****

"Okay Anna, moment of truth. You got this. You're ready. You were born ready!" Anna stood outside Elsa's door, arms full of uncooked food, psyching herself up. "This is no different from the million other times you've eaten with Elsa. Except, you know, now you're sort of kind of dating her. But that's beside the point! Knock on the door now. Okay now! Now!" Her hand shook, rattling the bags in her arms, as she slowly reached out and did a sloppy, nervous version of her 'Anna knock'. The redhead stepped back, took in a deep breath, and waited for Elsa to come to the door. She didn't have to wait long and all the contents of her bags almost slipped out of her arms and spilled to the floor when the gorgeous blonde opened the door. Words could not describe how beautiful Elsa looked at that moment. Anna had worn a simple yet elegant dark red dress, with a sweetheart neckline and pleated skirt adored with a chic dark rose pattern that stopped just above her knees with a pair of black heels. But Elsa. Elsa wore a vintage 1950's short light blue and white dress with a lace bodice, sheer ecru neckline, pleated skirt and a pair of cream hued kitten hills to finish it off. Were those Jimmy Choos? But it wasn't just the blonde's outfit that had the redhead gasping for air. While Anna had opted for a complicated updoo that she had thankfully took time to do before getting dressed, because it had literally taken her hours to get perfect, Elsa had, for the first time Anna had seen, worn her hair down, hanging low, hair falling over one side of her face and curled just the slightest bit at the end. Anna had to physically restrain herself from reaching out and running her hands through the blonde, almost white, locks.

"Um, Anna?" Elsa asked unsurely, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Three minutes had passed and Anna was still standing in the hallway staring at her, mouth agape. Elsa called the redhead's name again and the girl finally snapped out of her Elsa induced trance, shaking her head slightly and rearranging the bags in her arms. "You look really gorgeous." Anna blurted out and then mentally face palmed. She didn't mean to open up with that. "Sorry! I'm sorry. That's not what I meant to say. I mean, I did mean to say that, you do look incredibly gorgeous, but I didn't mean to say that yet. What I mean is-" Anna's rant was thankfully cut short when Elsa leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on Anna's cheek. "You look gorgeous as well." Elsa responded when she pulled away. "Let me help you with the bags." She continued, taking a few from Anna's arms and bringing them into the kitchen. Anna still stood in the hallway, completely dazed from the kiss and the compliment. She once again shook her head, a huge smile planted firmly on her face, as she finally walked into the house, closing the door behind herself.

Anna walked into the kitchen to find Elsa unpacking the brown bags and neatly folding them to be place in the recycling bin. The food was strategically color coordinated and placed in neat groups on the counter. Wow, she was fast. Anna walked up beside the blonde, placing the remaining bags on the counter. Elsa immediately got to work on those too and Anna playfully rolled her eyes. "Elsssaa. I thought we agreed that I was cooking for you." The redhead playfully scolded. Elsa smiled a bit and continued organizing the food. "Well technically, I didn't agree to those conditions. I just never protested. And besides, this is not cooking, this is organizing." She responded, placing the spinach next to the basil. Anna rolled her eyes again and huffed. "Hey, don't give me that corporate technicality mumbo jumbo. If I remember correctly, you don't start acting like a CEO until next week." Anna joked as she gently bumped Elsa out of the way. The blonde pouted a bit and saddled up beside Anna. "Can I please help? I don't feel comfortable with you cooking for me." When she saw the hurt look cross Anna's face she instantly clarified. "No, not that I don't trust you cooking for me. It's just- I don't feel comfortable sitting back letting you do all the work." Anna's smile returned and she walked over to the sink, squirting a generous amount of soap in her hands and scrubbing them in hot water like she was getting ready for surgery. "Non-sense snowflake. I invited you to dinner. I don't mind cooking for you. I want to." She reassured the blonde. Elsa walked over to Anna just as the redhead had finished washing her hands. "And I would very much like to help. Please?" she asked looking at Anna with puppy dog eyes. Damnit. She had no idea Elsa had her own version of the puppy dog look. That was her thing. It's how she got her Rapunzel and her other friends to do whatever she asked. Anna sighed heavily. "Fine. Scrub in Ms. Frost. We're about to do some major cookin'." The redhead said jokingly. "But don't forget to put on an apron, that dress is way too gorgeous to get chicken juice on it." Elsa scrunched up her nose at Anna's wording and the redhead laughed. "That's gross." The blonde said as she headed to the pantry and brought back two aprons, one green and one blue. "I want the blue one." Anna said. Elsa looked horrified. "No way. The blue one stays with me." She told the redhead seriously. Anna smirked. "I. Want. The. Blue one." Anna said, slowly walking towards Elsa. The blonde stubbornly shook her head no. Anna stopped in front of the girl and held up a fist. "Rock, Paper, Scissors? Winner gets the blue one?" Anna asked. Elsa smiled. "You're on."

"How are you so good at Rock, Paper, Scissors? We played like 12 times and you won them all!" Anna asked the blonde in disbelief as she began to mince some garlic. Elsa smiled sadly and as she chopped the carrots. "Olaf and I used to play a lot." She responded. Anna slowed her knife but didn't respond, instead changing the subject. "So, where's the music? I always listen to music when I cook." The redhead asked enthusiastically. "Don't you burn a lot of the food you cook? Maybe it's because you're distracted by the music." Elsa said slyly, dumping the carrots into a bowl and moving on to the next dish. Anna gasped in faux offense. "How dare you Madame. I'll have you know that I've only started 5 kitchen fires since I've moved here." Anna said proudly. "Wow, only 5? That's impressive." Elsa responded in false amazement. Anna ignored the blonde as she went over to the stereo Elsa kept in her kitchen and switched it on.

"Baby you light up my world like nobody else!

The way that you flip your h-"

"NO!"

"NO!" both girls yelled in chorus, Anna quickly turned the station.

"I'm so fancy, you already know.

I'm in the fast lane, from LA to Tok-"

"God no." Anna muttered, turning the station once again.

"So you wanna play with magic?

Boy you should know what you're falling fo-"

"Okay, so maybe we don't listen to the radio." Anna said turning the device back off, then remembered her first surprise for Elsa. "Elsa, can you finish this up, I forgot something in my apartment and I need to get it." Anna abruptly blurted. Elsa looked puzzled but nodded her head none the less. "Sure, of course." Anna washed her hands and smiled, giving the blonde a quick hug before rushing out the door. "Okay, that was a bit weird." Elsa said to herself as she finished up the preparations. Ten minutes later Anna came back through the door. Elsa was now sitting in the living room, flipping through channels when she saw Anna walk in holding a black case in her hands. Her brow furrowed in confusion and interest. "Is that a guitar?" she asked, turning the TV off. Anna nodded her head breathlessly. "Yes. Yes it is. I- um, I wanted to… Well, this is part one of your surprise. I wanted to play you one of my favorite songs… But now that I think about it, it's kinda cheesy. I'm just gonna put this back…" Anna babbled, turning to make her way back out the door. Elsa quickly stood and put a hand on the redhead's shoulder, stopping the girl from leaving. Anna turned and saw Elsa smiling at her. "I'd love to hear the song." Anna smiled and let out a breath. "Okay. Okay, well, I stayed up all night thinking about what song I should play, and then it came to me. So, um, yeah. Here goes nothing." Anna slowly unbuckled her guitar case and carefully removed the instrument. Standing in front of the seated Elsa, she pulled the strap around her neck and adjusted it. She removed a purple and green pick from her bag, and nervously fiddled with it. Elsa sat patiently, smiling encouragingly at the redhead. Anna took in another deep breath and began playing the opening notes. Elsa gasped as she instantly recognized the song. It was one of her absolute favorites.

"I'm gonna pick up the pieces,

And build a Lego house,

If things go wrong we can knock it down.

My three words have two meanings,

There's one thing on my mind

It's all for you."

Anna started singing and Elsa was even more blown away. She had no idea the redhead could play the guitar, let along sing so beautifully.

"And it's dark in a cold December, but I've got you to keep me warm

If you're broken I will mend you

And I'll keep you sheltered from the storm that's raging on

Now

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love

I'll pick you up when you're getting down

And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind

I'll do it all for you in time

And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now."

Elsa's breath hitched in her throat as she realized this wasn't just a random song Anna was singing, this was a song meant specifically for her. Anna choose this song for the lyrics, to convey a message of love to her. Elsa could feel the sincerity in ever note she sang. Every stroke of the guitar strings.

"I'm gonna paint you by numbers

And color you in

If things go right we can frame it and put you on a wall

And it's so hard to say it but I've been here before

Now I'll surrender up my heart

And swap it for yours

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love

I'll pick you up when you're getting down

And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind

I'll do it all for you in time

And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now."

Tears welled in Elsa's eyes as Anna continued to sing to her. The redhead was staring her right in the eyes, laying her heart down for Elsa to pick up and keep. The blonde's chest tightened and her throat closed in her effort to hold back a sob that was ready to force its way past her lips.

"Don't hold me down

I think my braces are breaking, and it's more than I can take

And it's dark in a cold December, but I've got you to keep me warm

If you're broken I will mend you and I'll keep you sheltered from the storm that's raging on

Now

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love

I'll pick you up when you're getting down

And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind

I'll do it all for you in time

And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now.

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love

I'll pick you up when you're getting down

And out of all these things I've done I will love you better now."

By the time Anna finished the song, tears were freely falling down Elsa's face. Anna quickly took her guitar off and sat it aside, rushing over to the couch to engulf Elsa in a loving hug. The blonde clung to her and Anna rubbed small circles on her back. "I meant every word Elsa." Anna whispered in her ear. Elsa nodded her head in the crock of Anna neck. "I know." she sobbed out. "I love you too."

It took the girls twenty minutes to calm down, after which they talked and talked about any and everything until the food was ready. Elsa led Anna into the dining room and the blonde began to set the table as Anna sat the dishes out. 'Wow, once again, how big is this apartment?' she wondered to herself. Finally, everything was set. "Oh my God. Everything looks so delicious." Anna appraised the food. She then took a bite of it and moaned. "This is seriously good. I did a great job." she said after swallowing her mouthful of chicken parm. Elsa rolled her eyes playfully and took a bite of her own food. She had to admit, the food was delicious. There was no lack of conversation at dinner as Anna instantly began talking again. "So, I think this goes without saying, but just to make sure, we are dating right? I mean it's okay to call you my girlfriend?" the redhead asked unsurely. Elsa smiled and reached out to grab the girl's hand. "Of course we're dating. And I do consider you my girlfriend." Anna beamed at the blonde's response and quickly dove back into talking a mile a minute. She barely gave Elsa a chance to answer one question before she asked another, but the blonde didn't mind. She just smiled and intently listened to what Anna had to say about how Justin Beiber should be thrown into a deep dark pit and all traces of his music erased from the Earth. "I mean really, please give us back 2-Pac." Anna ranted. Elsa laughed. "I never pegged you as a person who listened to rap." Elsa said, picking up her wine glass and taking a sip. Anna smiled. "Oh I'm not. Not really at least. I kinda like the ones from the 90s. But I mostly like old music. Frankie, Dean, Ella, you know, The Rat Pack type stuff." Anna explained. Elsa's smile widened. "Me too. I also love the Broadway classics, and of course Ed Sheeran." Elsa said pointedly with a smile. Anna grinned. "Of course."

They continued to eat and Anna continued to talk. Everything was going great. Then Anna asked her a question that she wasn't sure she knew the answer to. "So Elsa, are you ready for your vid com meeting next week?" the redhead asked, water glass to her lips. Elsa picked up her own glass and took slow sips, trying to stall. She didn't know if she was ready or not and she said as much to the girl sitting across from her. "I'm- I'm not sure. Do I have a choice?" she asked rhetorically but Anna still answered. "Of course you have a choice. You always have a choice. Look Elsa, I'm not trying to push you into doing something you don't want to do. I'm just trying to-"

"Help me." Elsa finished for the redhead. "I know, you're just trying to help me. Thank you. I don't know if I'm ready, but I'm still going to go through with it." Elsa said firmly, like she was telling it to herself. Maybe she was. Anna smiled brightly. "Yay, that's what I want to hear!" The redhead cheered. Elsa laughed lightly.

Finally the two finished eating and as they began to clear the table Anna realized with a start that she didn't pick up anything for desert. "How could I forget the most important meal of the day?" Anna whined as she helped Elsa clear the dishes and load them into the washer. The blonde was going to go back and hand wash each of them, but Anna didn't need to know that. "It's okay Anna." Elsa assured. Anna pouted. "No it's not!" she responded. Elsa sighed, and then remembered the package she received two days ago. When they finished cleaning the kitchen, they moved back into the living room. Anna sat on the couch, still pouting, but Elsa remained standing. She smiled down at Anna and told the redhead she'd be right back. Two minutes later the blonde stepped back into the room with a box of chocolates in her hand. Anna's eyes widen in excitement as she read the label. "Le Velours Chocolat? She really sent it? Wait, when were you going to tell me you got these?" Anna asked suspiciously. Elsa smiled sheepishly and opened the box, handing it to Anna and dodging the question. "Mmmm. Oh my God these are incredible!" Anna exclaimed after popping one into her mouth. Elsa followed and had to hold back a moan of her own. These were not just any chocolates, these were Le Velours Chocolat. Thirty minutes and one entire box of imported salted caramel chocolates later, Anna and Elsa sat contently on the couch. In a rare move, Elsa took the incentive and took Anna's hand in her own. Anna looked at her and smiled. Elsa smiled back and leaned into Anna's side.

"I had such an amazing time, thank you so much for all of this." Elsa said, snuggling closer to the redhead. Anna's smile widened, something she didn't think was possible. "Well, if you'll recall, I said I have two surprises for you." Anna began. Reluctantly she untangled herself from Elsa and grabbed the blonde's laptop. She hooked it up to the TV as Elsa looked on in confusion. "Anna, what are you-" Anna cut her off by shushing her. "It's a surprise." She simply replied. Elsa nodded slightly and continued to look on as Anna pulled out her phone and held it to her ear. She had no idea who was on the other end or what they said, all she heard was Anna say 'It's time'. The redhead then hung the phone up and rushed back to the laptop. She pulled up the Skype app and clicked on a picture of a boy with blonde hair and a beanie. Now Elsa was super confused. After a few rings, the screen finally flashed with the words 'connecting'. The image of the same boy popped up on the screen as he hurried to arrange the camera. Anna smiled and waved at the boy. "Kristoff hi! Can you hear me? Can you see me?" Anna asked excitedly. Kristoff looked up into the camera and smiled waving back. "Yeah I can see and hear you just fine. That must be Elsa, wow Anna you sure knows how to pick em'." Kristoff joked. Elsa was now officially beyond confused. Was this her second surprise? Conversing with someone she had only heard her brother and girlfriend talk about? Elsa looked over at Anna who was smiling at the TV screen. "Shut up Kris. Anyway, move your gigantic head out of the way so Elsa can see her second surprise." Anna told the boy playfully. Kristoff stuck out his tongue and laughed before moving out the way.

Elsa gasped and for the third time that day tears sprung to her eyes. There on the screen was her brother. Her little brother in his hospital bed. Kristoff picked up the laptop and sat it on the adjustable table directly in front of the sleeping boy. "I'll be back in thirty minutes, give you guys some time alone." She heard the voice of Kristoff say off camera. "Thanks Kristoff." She heard Anna reply lightly. They heard footsteps and then the door gently closed. Tears ran down Elsa's face as she stared at the bandages around Olaf's head and the tubes coming from everywhere on the boy's pale body. Elsa turned to Anna. Anna saw her question on the girl's face and grabbed her hand, squeezing it lightly. "You know, I heard somewhere that if someone is in a coma and the person they care about talks to them, they're more likely to come out of it. Maybe hearing your voice can help our guy make it through this thing." Anna explained. Elsa silently nodded and stared back at the screen. "I don't- what do I even say?" she whispered. "Say what you feel, tell him anything you want. Tell him about the amazing chocolate we just ate." Anna whispered back playfully. Elsa let out a small laugh. She nodded her head and took in a deep breathe. "Okay. Um, hello Olaf. I don't know if you can hear me, but I just want to tell you how much I miss you and love you. And um, you were right about Anna." She told the boy. Anna looked over at her and Elsa squeezed the redhead's hand harder. "She really is amazing." She sobbed out. "And I love her so, so, much. And I wish you could be here with us. And, and, oh God Olaf, please wake up soon for us, for me." Elsa sobbed out. Anna rubbed her back in comforting circles.

After Elsa regained her composure she continued to talk to Olaf, telling the boy all about the things her and Anna had been up to, and about her new friend Rapunzel, and about how much she had improved with her condition. Too soon for Elsa's liking, Kristoff came back with a message from the nurse, informing them visiting hours were over. Elsa tearfully nodded her head and said goodbye to her brother. "Don't worry, you'll talk to him again soon, I'll make sure of it." Anna assured the blonde. Elsa nodded and said goodbye again as the screen faded to black and the Skype call screen popped back up. Elsa turned back to Anna with a sad smiled and grabbed the girl in a tight hug. "Why are you so amazing? How did I get lucky enough to find you?" Elsa sighed into Anna's shoulder. Anna smiled lightly and wrapped her arms tighter around Elsa. "I'm the lucky one snowflake. I love you so much." Anna told the blonde. And Elsa could feel it. Really feel it. She pulled out of the embrace and gently caressed Anna's face with her right hand. It was now or never. Her heart felt like it was going to beat out of her chest. Anna picked up on the signal and began to move in closer. She stopped when she could feel Elsa's shallow breaths skate across her lips. "Are you sure?" Anna whispered and Elsa almost shivered at the feel of the redhead's breath ghost across her own lips. Instead of answering, Elsa closed the gap between the two, lips hesitantly brushing against Anna's. Surprisingly Elsa took the kiss a step further, deepening it by pressing her lips harder against Anna's. Anna responded by moving her lips against Elsa's, hand moving to cradle the blonde's neck and then sliding into perfect blonde locks. Elsa ran her own hand into Anna's hair, letting the red tresses out of its complicated updoo and humming in satisfaction when they fell into a curly mane around the redhead's shoulders. Elsa felt Anna's tongue slide along her bottom lip and on instinct opened her mouth. Anna's tongue instantly slipped inside. The redhead tasted like the salted caramel chocolate they had just eaten and cinnamon, what Elsa guessed was her natural flavor. To Anna, Elsa tasted like salted caramel chocolate, vanilla, and cool mint. It was the redhead new favorite flavor. They stayed kissing like that in each other's embrace for what felt like hours, when in reality it couldn't have been more than a few seconds. The two finally pulled away when the need for air became a necessity. Breathing heavily, the two sat with their foreheads pressed together. "Wow." Anna was the first to breathe out. "That was… wow. Can we do that, like, a lot more?" She asked dazed. Elsa giggled and placed a chaste kiss on the redhead's lips.

"Yes, I think that could be arranged."
