The floor was slowly tilting up and down, making a screeching noise at each tilt: Mirii couldn't stop noticing the wooden doors, barrels and crates scattered on the floor, some empty bottles near the walls, lines cut through the wooden walls…
"This corridor is giving me a bigger headache than before…!" Her hand went on her forehead, as she snorted and grimaced. "The dust, the messy item placements… uuugghh!" Her head shook, retreating her hand. "If it wasn't for the possible Project Neo clues I could find, I would have ran away as fast as I can!"
Her face tracked down the man walking over the door to the right.
"… speaking of that…" Her head rose. "… my plan is ready to be deployed."
"Here! This is the weapon room!" The man smiled, leaning his hand on the door. "As I said before, I have seen some Splattershots we could use."
"Hmpf!" Mirii frowned. "Probably a bunch of toys, compared to ours…"
He pushed the door, watching the darkness covering the shelves and tables as much as possible: some lights were pointed at one sword handle, two Splattershot-like weapons and one Ink Tank… all of them resting on the table.
"I can't get over that…" He got closer to the table, slowly shaking his head. "… how come we are not finding any Stingrays? What's going on?"
Mirii took few steps, entering inside the room.
"Tsk… that rubbish will do nothing for us." Her arms folded. "We have to look around and find something of use."
"What are you saying?!" He turned around the table, stopping behind it and picking up one of the two weapons, lifting it over. "Look! This Splattershot can be easily"
"That piece of rubbish is even rusty!" Her head lowered, while frowning. "Can't you see?"
The man twisted the weapon around, carefully scanning it thoroughly…
"Uhm… you are right…" His mouth flattened to one side. "… but it's better than nothing!" He smiled, as he pointed the weapon at the walls, Mirii and the table. "Why don't you pick up this other Splattershot?"
Her hands were each grasping one of her arms…
"… I refuse, sir." Her eyes closed. "I cannot wield rusty toys… besides, I'm confident with a Charger-type weapon."
"Anyone can hold a Splattershot!" He frowned at the girl. "It's an easy weapon to use! Even my little niece is pretty good with it!"
She turned behind, shaking her head.
"Enough discussions." She walked away. "We have to find a Charger…"
"No, we don't have to!" He rushed around the table, slowing down once near the girl. "We need a weapon, just in case we have to defend ourselves!" He opened his arms wide. "Haven't you look around?! There is no one in this ship, except the two of us! I bet we will not find a single, darn Stingray in our"
"If you want to believe in such fairy tale… go ahead and follow it."
Mirii stopped on her feet, turning behind and frowning.
"Unlike you, I always prepare myself for the incoming situations I might encounter… including my foes." Her arms folded. "I don't let any optimism dictate my decisions, nor I will let the fate guide my destiny throughout my paths."
Her eyes squeezed a bit.
"And most importantly… I'm not overly dependent on the others." She twisted back, watching the lonely corridor, which was tilting up and down. "Thus, if you think to defend yourself well enough with such obsolete technology… that would be your choice."
She walked away on the left.
"Mine is to follow reality."
The man opened his mouth.
"Wait! D-don't go!" He shook his head, leaning his left hand over the girl.
Mirii stopped on her feet, as her ears rose.
"… make it quick." Her head rose. "Unlike you, I"
The man snorted, frowning a bit.
"I will help you out, ok?!" His arms opened wide. "Just let me grab that Ink Tank and prepare myself for a couple of seconds!" He walked away, entering inside the weapon room.
Mirii sighed, as her eyes closed.
"… just as I calculated." Her eyes opened back, looking at the corridor in front of her. "Let's see… where I should inspect, first?"
She turned around, observing the several doors on the walls. A searat bounced from the right to the left, hiding inside a hole.
"None of those doors have a tag or any particular sign of interest…" Her arms folded, still looking around her surroundings. "Although, if that disgusting man is truly after Project Neo… his personal room might hold vital clues related to the project."
She took a few steps forward, before stopping.
"That realization is completely filled with perfection!" She smiled. "And I took just a few seconds, before I brilliantly reached"
"Where are you going?"
The girl turned behind, while the man stopped in front of her and frowning.
"Did you forget to wait for me?" He snorted. "As if I wasn't mad enough about your picky choices!"
Mirii's eyes squeezed a bit.
"… you can always leave this"
"Alright, alright!" He growled, gritting his teeth. "Where we go? In all those rooms?!"
"… I'm asking you to lower your voice, sir." Her head rose. "I'm not disrespecting you… thus I pretend the same from you."
He roared, this time he kept his mouth sealed.
"… I will take that as a yes." She returned forward. "Please, follow me."
Her feet began-
"Do you want to reach the stairs all the way there?" His hand put his weapon on his shoulder. "There aren't any rooms on the main deck."
Mirii kept her right foot hovering in the air, as her eyes expanded.
"I was thinking to check that area first, hoping to find a storage room or something." His head shook. "I haven't found a single door on the main deck… and returned with my hands empty." He shrugged. "Luckily I found the ladder on the room next to my ex-prison."
A single sweat slid from her head's right side.
"… curses." Her eyes blinked, as she turned behind and formed a frown on her face. "How's it possible that this obese Stingray doesn't have his own room on the main deck?!"
"Don't get yourself stressed, ok?" His eyelids lowered to the middle. "My patience is already dried…"
"Hmpf!" The girl passed near him, turning her head sideways. "There must be an important room, down this corridor… important enough to hold the most powerful of them all!"
"Why don't we just try to escape? The main deck isn't even that far from us!" His mouth downturned and his eyebrows went up. "Please! Reconsider"
Mirii showed her frown at the man.
"… that's it, I had enough!" He walked away from the girl, while clenching his fists. "Keep staying in this piece of dump, for all I care!" He left a growl. "You seem to love it so much!"
Mirii gasped, as her eyes expanded.
"Don't you dare coming back to me, you insolent!" She pointed her forefinger over him. "I do not join forces with fools like you!"
The man kept walking and walking, getting closer to the stairs…
"… I didn't expect him to outburst like that." Slowly, Mirii turned the other way and began walking. "But I will not let this occasion escape my grasp." Her pace increased. "I have all the time to gather the clues I need. … and while I'm at it…"
She stopped, pointing her face over the table inside the room, which was holding a Splattershot-like weapon on it.
"… I should arm myself properly."
Mirii was holding a weapon with both her hands, while keeping an Ink Tank behind her back. She was walking down the corridor, passing in between crates and barrels, while a collection of dim lights were hanging on the walls, above the doors.
"This place is beyond nauseating…" She grimaced, slowly shaking her head. "… I don't know if I can keep my stomach altogether, until I finally step out of this nightmare of smells…"
Her eyes grew.
"O-of course I can keep my composure without any problems!" She frowned. "I'm a perfectionist, after all!"
Her head shook.
"… this place is beyond nauseating…" She sighed. "It's a living nightmare…"
She stopped, opening her mouth and watching a large door at the end of the corridor: it was covered with leather on the middle and a golden boarder on the edges.
"… I knew it!" She smiled, rushing towards the big door. "That Stingray's personal room! Room that contains all the Project Neo evidence I could use!"
Her feet slid on the floor, as her right hand immediately grabbed the door handle. She snorted, as sweat formed on her forehead and her eyes squeezed. Slowly, the door was pushed more and more… until Mirii slip past it, before the door would quickly return to its previous position and close itself.
Darkness was filling the room, as a moon-ray was piercing through it from a window standing behind a large desk-shaped object.
"Uff, uff… wh-what they were thinking with that heavy door?! Uff… that man must be nuts, in order to request such useless item…!"
Step sounds filled the air.
"I shouldn't think about his stupidity, though. What truly matters now is the following question…"
Her shadow-covered hands went on the desk.
"… where did he hid his Project Neo clues?"
