The light bulbs lit, expanding their energy all over the room, while the girl was standing next to the wall. She walked in front of the door, locking her sight right on the small chandelier hanging above the floor.

"… the egoistical nature of this man knows no bounds…" Her eyes squeezed a bit. "Not investing any money for keeping this vessel at least presentable and decently efficient… bah!"

Mirii shook her head, grimacing, while taking some steps forward.

"I had enough of this persistent delusion… and my time ran out." Her irises pointed at the desk. "At this point, those pirates must be near the ship… I don't even need any evidence for confirming such thought too."

She took more steps, reaching the desk and landing her free hand on the green carpet resting on it.

"Of course if he possesses any Project Neo-related documents, he would store them in the desk's drawers…" A sweat drop appeared on her head. "… not that I think he has common sense in general, but where else he could store important items?"

…

"… I shouldn't underestimate that fool this much." Her eyelids lowered to the middle. "He might own a secret safe for storing evidences…"

She walked around the desk, stopping on the other side. A set of Drawers were attached below the desk, on the right. She bended on her knees, as her left hand went on the top drawer's handle: her arm were pulling, nudging the drawer in the process.

She snorted, as her hand grabbed the handle below, pulling her arm and nudging the related drawer as well. Her hand went on the last handle, as her arm pulled the drawer in her direction: written papers were standing there in a pile, together with a bottle of black ink leaning on the corner.

Her mouth opened, as her hand caught the top paper and carried it in front of her face, while stretching her legs upwards.

"… ridiculous." Her mouth flattened, while frowning slightly and snorting. "He uses his pirate language, even while writing…"

Her eyes squeezed a bit. Her irises began hovering on each word.

"… 'I have captured the Squid and I'm about to make her talk'…" Her irises stopped for a second, before resuming its movement. "'Meanwhile, the scientist seems to be holding one more possible Project Neo location, situated on this island…'"

Her hand put the paper on the desk, as her arm folded.

"It appears that the man in question is familiar with Inkspray Inkland…" Her eyes closed. "Unfortunately, I cannot press him for more information… not even if he was standing in front of him."

She sighed.

"At least I know there are Project Neo labs in this island."

She bended back down, picking up the top paper and lifting herself up. Her eyes grew, seeing a collection of words.

"Curses! He wrote in another language!" Her teeth gritted. "He probably used the original Stingray language…!"

Her hand hovered over her clothes.

"I must have that application that"

The door opened slowly, as the girl gasped while jumping and dropping the paper: the man was frowning, as he pushed the door until it stopped.

"I told you to not come back to me!" Her free hand grabbed her weapon's handle, pointing it at the scientist. "Away with you!"

"… admittedly, I changed my mind about trying to get out of this cave, alone…" He took some steps, pointing his weapon at Mirii.

"It's too late, you fool!" She grimaced. "I refuse joining forces with"

"I refuse that too."

The girl's mouth opened wide. The man frowned.

"Especially when I'm seeing you wielding a weapon you labeled as 'obsolete'…!" He growled. "You never cared about wanting a Charger weapon, didn't you?!"

"W-well…" Sweat filled her face. "I-I… ch-changed my mind!" She nodded twice, as sweat jumped out from her face. "I-I'm not confident w-with"

"Why are you looking at those papers…?" His sight landed on the desk. "Why even doing that in such situation?"

"I-I wasn't looking at any papers!" She frowned a lot, showing her teeth. "Instead, I was… searching! Searching for… a possible tool, which could help me out"

"You are hiding something, don't you…?" His eyes squeezed a bit, as he took more steps towards the desk. "Yeah… how come the Stingrays were keeping you captive? They did that to me, because"

"DON'T MOVE ANY CLOSER!" Her arms stretched to the max, as Mirii was holding her stomach. "I WILL NOT HESITATE SHOOTING YOU DOWN!"

The man stopped, keeping his previous expression.

"… so, it's true… you are involved into Project Neo as well." He nodded. "It must be the only reason why you are even here in the first place!"

Mirii growled, grasping her weapon even more…

"... I'm going to say one thing about this whole situation, sir…"

Her head rose.

"Even though you are posing as my enemy… the true targets I'm looking for, are the Stingrays." She frowned a bit. "They are a true menace for our society… and I have been hunting them down for months."

Her irises sniped down the paper on the desk, before returning to the middle.

"I have the chance for learning their next steps and anticipate their moves, before they cause any more damage to the innocents."

"Agents are the ones who can accept such dangerous missions!" He snorted. "No kid is allowed to"

"The Agents haven't solved the problem in the slightest, did they?!" She bended forward. "Me and my friends went after almost all their attempts to destroy the city! We are the ones who successfully sabotaged their plans!"

She jumped over the desk, still pointing her weapon towards the man.

"And I will not let anyone stop our objective! Not even Squids who love assuming a pile of information without knowing them for real…"

"Assuming you say?!" He shot yellow ink projectiles towards the girl. "Get lost, kid!"

Mirii shot from her weapon too, as dark-green ink projectiles landed right in front of the scientist's feet. He took steps backwards, as he turned around and shot ink on the floor.

"Curses! I don't have any secondary weapons with this set!" A single sweat slid all the way down, from her head. "In this case…"

Mirii took one step backwards… before rushing and jumping forward, while shooting down at the man. He turned into a Squid, diving in his own ink and dashing to the side. The girl rolled, jumping once more in the same direction, while passing the yellow ink below.

She landed on her feet, running towards the opened door and tilting her back forward.

"I can't risk a fight against this mad Squid!" Her teeth gritted a lot.

Shooting noises were coming from behind, in a rhythm-like pattern… the girl opened her mouth for a second, before shooting at the floor and diving inside her own ink as a Squid. Once near the end of her ink trail, she jumped out almost instantly: while in midair, she returned in her humanoid form and shot at the floor ahead at the same time.

Her feet touched the floor, running while shooting for a brief moment… before diving back inside the ink trail and moving towards its end. The man was doing a similar pattern… although, the distance in between the two, was growing.

"I can do this…! I have all the requirements for passing this predicament…" She panted. "Uff… I-I have passed more difficult tasks than this…!"

The girl kept on going with the same pattern, for some minutes… until her eyes noticed the stairs laying just ahead. She smiled widely.

Yo-ho-ho!

Her eyes grew immediately.
