Tell Me How To Fix You
Chapter 33
By: The Duchess of Arendelle
AN: OK guys hello and welcome back! Just so you know, I've heard what you said about the spacing issues, and hopefully I'm taking a step in the right direction to fix them. I've revised and added a couple of new things to the previous chapter, and I believe I've fixed the spacing issue. But let me just say this…
You don't have to be rude about it.
If something is not looking right, or spelled right, or worded right, you can point it out. I'm all for that! I encourage that! I PROMISE you I don't mind. But what I do mind is when anonymous posters rudely tell me to fix something. I ask that you please be respectful about it. I will fix it if you tell me in a nice respectful way.
That being said.
Here's the story! Sorry to take up your time, and I really hope I haven't offended anyone. I really appreciate the fact that you guys even take the time out to read my story. And I'm sorry the updates are not uploaded as frequently as I wish. I want to say thank you to a great reader Asa Shigure. You have them to thank for this chapter, your message really made me want to get back into this story hard and try to make time. So I hope you guys enjoy, and sorry for any and all mistakes!
Rapunzel sat on the ivy green couch in Anna's apartment. After the delicious breakfast Elsa had prepared for them, she decided to give the two love birds a little time to themselves. She asked Anna for her key and took the elevator back down to the small apartment. Anna's lodgings were nowhere near as fancy or extravagant as Elsa's, but it did feel warmer and lived in, despite the redhead's absence. Elsa's apartment was large, with high white walls and a cold blue and white interior. It just screamed clean, and it was always freezing in there. Anna's walls were painted a faded cream color, the paint was chipping off and she had an exposed brick wall by the window. And Rapunzel loved it.
She loved Elsa, and she really liked her place, but she couldn't help but think it wouldn't kill the girl to throw some bright yellows, or reds or pinks, into her decorative scheme!
Speaking of the blonde, Rapunzel's mind went back to Elsa's bandaged arms and how Anna, usually so persistent, just let Elsa off the hook when questioning if she was alright. She obviously wasn't. Granted, Anna handed seen the bandages, but surely she must have heard the fear and hesitance in Elsa's voice. It was the other reason why she left Elsa's apartment and opted for Anna's. She needed to think. Think about her next move. Her next words. She didn't want to offend her cousin or Elsa, but it was something that had been on her mind.
"I need to talk to Anna." She said to herself as she laid back on the couch.
Rapunzel took her cell phone out of her jeans pocket and dialed the redhead's cell. It was now or never. She needed to say this. For Anna and Elsa's sake.
*******FROZEN********
*Elsa's apartment*
Anna was curled up on the couch next to Elsa. The blonde currently had her head resting on Anna's shoulder. Right now was the happiest either girl could ever remember being. It was all so comfy, so warm, so natural. Anna looked over at the blonde engrossed in whatever movie they were watching. 'She is so beautiful. How did I get so lucky?' Anna thought to herself. She continued staring at the girl as the smallest of frowns began to find its way to her face.
'This morning… Elsa seemed a little off… like she was hiding something. I want to grill her about it but… I don't want her to think I'm being one of those over bearing girlfriend types. I don't want to take any chances with our relationship. If she says she's okay… then I- I guess I'll just have to believe her.' Anna was lost in thought. So far gone that she almost didn't feel Elsa sitting up and looking at her with a confused expression. Anna shook her head and snapped to attention.
"Oh! I'm sorry, what was that?" Anna asked with an embarrassed giggle. Elsa continued to stare at the redhead, concerned. "I was asking what you would like to watch next but… are you okay? You looked like you were a thousand miles away." The blonde asked her redheaded girlfriend. Anna smiled sheepishly.
"Yeah I guess I was kind of out of it… Lost in thought and whatnot…" Anna trailed off. Elsa took hold of the redhead's hand. "Lost in thoughts of what?" she asked, biting her lip nervously. No way Anna was having second thoughts about their relationship… right?
Anna squeezed the blonde's hand slightly and smiled. "Thoughts of how beautiful you are, and how lucky I am to have you." She said, telling half a lie. She was thinking about that, but that was not the reason for her lack of concentration. Elsa smiled shyly and giggled at the confession.
"Is that so?" she asked, moving to put her forehead against Anna's. The redhead smiled and closed her eyes for a second. "Absolutely."
Just as Anna started to move in for a kiss, her phone began ringing loudly in her back pocket.
*I wanna see you out that door baby bye bye bye, bye b-!*
The redhead fumbled for the device and threw an apologetic look at Elsa as she answered. "Oh my gosh, Punz please tell me you have a good reason for interrupting me in the middle of what was to become a make out session." Anna whispered heatedly into the receiver as she had her back turned to her blonde girlfriend.
"Sorry feisty pants. Gosh. You can get it in with your girlfriend another time, right now I need you to get your booty over here, we need to talk." Rapunzel bluntly told her cousin. Anna gaped in disbelief before sighing and slapping a hand over her face. "What? Why can't you just come back over here, I'm sure Elsa won't mind." At that the blonde in question raised an inquisitive eyebrow. Anna shrugged and mouthed Rapunzel and Elsa nodded her head in understanding.
"Well I can't do that. She's who I need to talk to you about… Well she and you… you and she…? Whatever, I need to talk to you about your relationship, it's important." Rapunzel informed the redhead.
Anna was shocked. 'Uh, what the fuck? Why does Rapunzel want to talk about mine and Elsa's relationship?'
"Um, okayyyy… I'll um, I'll be there in a few…" Anna said confused. "Awesome, I'll be waiting here… or maybe we should go out? Anyway hurry over okay? Bye." Rapunzel said, quickly ending the call. "Yeah thanks for waiting for my goodbye..." Anna said to the dial tone. She felt a hand on her arm and turned to look at Elsa.
"Is everything ok?" she asked concerned. Anna mustered up a reassuring smile. "Oh yeah, of course. Just, Rapunzel wanted to see some of the sights so we're going to go grab a quick bite." Anna told her girlfriend as she rose from the couch and started to make her way to the door. Elsa got up and followed behind her.
"Oh, alright. That's fine I guess... Don't fill up on too much though? I was planning on cooking for you guys… If… if that's okay with you I mean…" Elsa trailed off, hesitantly looking at the ground. Anna smiled and gently grabbed Elsa's chin with her right hand, making the girl's ice blue eyes meet her aqua. Slowly, she moved in to place a chaste kiss on Elsa's lips. The contact lasted for a few seconds, but it might as well have been an eternity for all Anna knew. Pulling away from each other, the redhead brought her left hand up to join the other in caressing Elsa's face.
"Elsa, of course it's ok. Thank you for being so considerate. Don't worry, I'll be back soon. Okay?" she asked as she held Elsa closely. The blonde nodded slightly. "Okay. See you soon." Elsa said, bringing her arms up to hug Anna around the waist. The redhead smiled and hugged her tighter.
As the embrace was broken, Anna found her hands traveling down Elsa's shoulders and to her forearms, she was planning on holding her hands but that plan was soon forgotten when she saw Elsa flinch in pain.
"Elsa, are you alright? What's wrong?" she asked worried as Elsa withdrew from her unintentionally painful caress. The blonde shook her head and tried to smile. "No-nothing's wrong. I just… I just have a little rash on my arm is all. And it hurts a bit when you touch it." Elsa's lied, trying desperately to throw Anna's suspensions. Anna frowned and she furrowed her brow in worry.
"A rash? Elsa let me see. It could be bad." Anna said as she moved to pull up the blonde's sleeves.
"NO!" Elsa said somewhat loudly and backed away. Anna looked surprised at the outburst and Elsa quickly composed herself. "I- I mean… no, I don't want you to see it. It's not that bad and I'd be pretty embarrassed if you saw it." Elsa told Anna as she began to laugh sheepishly. Anna remained unconvinced and was about to continue her questioning when she felt Elsa's lips on her cheek.
"I'm fine Anna, really." She reassured the girl.
Anna finally smiled a bit, and although she still wasn't convinced, she let it go. "Ok, alright. You're fine. I'm sorry, I'm being too protective." Anna apologized. Elsa shook her head. "You have nothing to be sorry about. I should be the one apologizing for worrying you." Elsa said quietly. Anna smiled bigger now. "Of course I worry about you, you're my girlfriend, and that's what you're supposed to do over the people you love." Anna told the blonde standing in front of her. Elsa smiled more genuinely back at her. "I love you too. Now you should go, Rapunzel's waiting for you right?" Anna nodded her head and placed a quick kiss on her cheek before saying goodbye and promising she'd be back soon.
The door shut and locked behind Anna and Elsa let out a huge breath she had no idea she was holding. "Oh God…" Elsa said in a breathless sob as she put her back to the door and slowly slid down it. Sitting on the floor, back against the front door, she lifted up her sleeves to look at the slightly bloody bandages. A few tears began to run down her cheeks as she thought about what a terrible girlfriend she must be. 'I'm fine. I'm fine. Fine. I'm fine…' she thought to herself.
*****************************FROZEN******************************
"Punz!" Anna called out to her cousin as she walked through her apartment's doors. She looked around and saw that the brunette was nowhere to be seen. 'Where is that girl?' she thought to herself. She heard a crash come from her bedroom and she rolled her eyes. "I swear Punz, if you've broken anything I'm going to kill you." She muttered under her breath as she set off across the small apartment to her room.
Passing all her things she couldn't help but think she kind of missed all of this. She missed eating microwave burritos on her comfy couch while binge watching her favorite shows on Netflix, and sleeping crazily sprawled out on her own bed, and not having to worry about making a mess... Not that she was saying she didn't like staying over Elsa's. Cus she did, she seriously, totally did! It was just… it felt nice to be home.
As she got to her room door she saw Rapunzel pop her head out. "Oh, Anna, you're finally here." She said, stepping the rest of the way out. "Yeah… what were you doing in my room? And what was that noise?" she asked suspiciously. Rapunzel made a weird face and started laughing nervously. "What? What noise?" she asked, closing Anna's door behind her. Anna squinted her eyes and walked closer.
"What do you mean 'what noise'? That loud crash that just came from out of my bedroom." she said, trying to get past the brunette. Rapunzel continued to block her way as she spoke loudly. "Oh…OH! That loud noise… I fell. Yep, I fell! You know how clumsy I am." Rapunzel said, hitting her own head in a duh fashion. If Anna's eyes squinted anymore they would be closed.
"Uh huh. Step aside Punz." Anna said flatly. Rapunzel opened her mouth to protest but Anna held up a hand. "Rapunzel. Outta the way. Now." Anna said seriously. Rapunzel let out a breath. "Fine." She said, stepping out of the way so Anna could inspect the room. The redhead walked inside her bedroom, looking around suspiciously but finding nothing out of place. "See, everything's fine." Rapunzel said, arms folded. Anna looked skeptical. "You still never told me what you were doing in my room." The redhead said, staring at the younger girl.
"What, so a cousin can't just peruse through another cousin's room without getting the 5th degree?"
It was Anna's turn to fold her arms as she looked at her dully. Rapunzel sighed again and threw up her arms. "I was just changing clothes ok? Gosh Anna, you're so paranoid." Rapunzel said as she sulked, leaning her back against Anna's closet door. Anna unfolded her arms and looked somewhat apologetic. She noticed the brunette was wearing different clothes from when she left Elsa's that morning.
"I'm sorry Punz. It's just… I feel like everyone is hiding something from me lately. You. Kristoff. Hans… Elsa." She whispered the last name.
Rapunzel's gaze softened at that. "Hey, it's ok. That's why I want to talk to you. Come on, I want to see the city, and we haven't hung out with just me and you in forever. Take me to that Oaken's place you talk about so much, I'll let you treat me to lunch." Rapunzel said cheekily with a wink. Anna smiled and rolled her eyes.
"Oh how generous of you." She said as she began to walk over to her cousin. "Let me just grab a coat out of the closet." Rapunzel's eyes widened at that and she was about to try to think of an excuse on why she shouldn't go in the closet when all of a sudden Anna screamed.
"OH MY GOD, WHAT WAS THAT?! A MOUSE? WAS THAT A MOUSE?!" she asked terrified. Rapunzel closed her eyes. Busted. The creature scurried across the floor again and Anna let out another scream. "Oh my God! That mouse is changing colors! Why is that mouse changing colors?" Anna yelled as she began chunking books and CDs off of the bookshelf in the corner at the creature. Rapunzel ran over and grabbed Anna's hands, making her stop.
"Anna! Anna stop it! It's not a mouse, it's Pascal! You're going to hurt him!" Rapunzel screamed at her hysteric cousin. Anna instantly stopped, breathing heavily as she looked at her cousin confused. "What?" she asked out of breath.
"Pascal. It's Pascal. I brought him with me, and I was kinda waiting for the right moment to tell you. I guess that's now so… um… surprise?" she said with a sheepish laugh. "Pascal?" Anna asked. Said creature poked its head out from under one of the thrown books, terrified. "Aww, now look what you've done, you've gone and scared him. Come here baby." Rapunzel cooed as she held her hand out for the small reptilian creature. Pascal quickly scurried into Rapunzel's hand and the brunette cuddled him to her face. By now Anna had finally calmed down and she looked at her cousin angrily.
"Why didn't you tell me you were bringing him? I would have told you not to." Anna said, letting out a frustrated breath and placing her hands over her face. "Because you would have told me not to." Rapunzel said in a pouty voice. "Uh, yeah I would have, because pets are not allowed in my lease Punz. You have to ask the landlord in advance, and then you have to pay extra in pet fees. I can't afford that right now." Anna explained as she took a seat on her bed. Rapunzel continued to pout.
"But I couldn't just leave my Pascal behind. Who would take care of him? Mother? Yeah right, I'd come back to a skeleton of my poor baby and mother saying something like, 'Oops, I forgot all about the poor dear. Oh well, come here sweetie, let me brush your hair and we can sing songs together.' No, I don't think so. Besides, your girlfriend is a billionaire, I'm sure she could buy this whole building and change the rules if she wanted to." Rapunzel said as she continued to caress Pascal. Anna grunted loudly in frustration. "That's not the point Rapunzel. And you know I would never ask Elsa for money, I'm with her because I love her, not her money." The redhead said, standing up.
"I know. I know. Sorry. Look, no one has to know he's here, ok? He's super small so he doesn't take up much space. He only eats flies and chocolate, but not mixed together. And he won't make a peep, right Pascal?" she asked her little pet. Anna could have sworn that thing was nodding its head yes. Anna looked at the two of them giving her the puppy dog eyes and sighed.
"Fine! Ok, he can stay. But! If I get caught and become homeless and have to live on the cold cold streets, and die because I froze to death, or was murdered, or choked on some dumpster food I'll be forced to eat, I'm going to haunt you for the rest of your days singing Ke$ha songs." Anna threated. Rapunzel jumped up and down. "Yay! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you Anna!" she ran over and hugged her cousin around the neck.
"Whatever." The redhead said with a smile. "Are you ready?" she asked when she pulled out of the hug. "Yeah almost, let me just get my shoes and my bag and I'll meet you in the lobby, ok?" Rapunzel said, pushing her cousin towards the door. "Yeah, fine. Geez, you're always so pushy." She grumbled as she made her way through her den and out the door. "Don't keep me waiting long!" She yelled out as she closed the door behind her. "I won't!" Rapunzel yelled back.
Rushing back into Anna's room, she went towards the closet door, Pascal perched diligently on her shoulder. Opening the door she raised an eyebrow at the person inside and frowned slightly.
"You owe Pascal a big thank you, if it wasn't for him you would have been caught." she said, as the figure stumbled its way out of the closet. "I know. Things were getting pretty close out here, good job team!" the intruder said, raising his hand. Rapunzel and Pascal stared at him blankly. "Or not…" he trailed off. Rapunzel's frown deepened. "Now it so not the time for jokes Eugene, I expect to get a full explanation on why you broke into my cousin's house and was sifting through her personal things!" Rapunzel said sternly.
"I told you it's part of the mission! I came over to give Anna this file and to strengthen the signal on some of the bugs I loaned her, but she wasn't here so I picked the lock. I was going to upgrade the equipment, leave the file by the door and split. But then I ran into you…" he tried to explain. Rapunzel held up a hand. "I have to go now, Anna's waiting for me. But I do want you to tell me the whole thing so here." Rapunzel took a pen out of her pocket and scribbled her phone number on his palm. "Call me tomorrow and we'll set up a dinner meeting, got it?" she said sternly to the bewildered man. Eugene looked back and forth between his hand and the brunette standing in front of him. A smile slowly formed on his face.
"Is this going to be a date?" he asked. Rapunzel blushed slightly and coughed into her hand. "What? Of course not. Why would I go on a date with someone who breaks into women's apartments?" she asked, turning her head away in disinterest. Eugene shook his head.
"It wasn't like that! And this is totally a date." He said with a smirk. Rapunzel rolled her eyes. "Is not." She said, walking towards the door. "Is too." He said following her.
"Is not."
"Is too."
"Is not!"
"Is too."
Rapunzel growled as she made it to the door. "Look, just get out of my cousin's apartment ok? And don't be late for our…"
"Date." Eugene finished
"Meeting." Rapunzel corrected.
Opening the door, she looked at the smirking dark haired reporter one last time. His smirk grew and he walked up beside her, leaning on the door frame. "I'll pick you up at 7 tomorrow for our not date." He said.
"It's not a… oh." Rapunzel was about to automatically deny the fact that it was a date when she registered what he said. Blushing a deeper shade of red she cleared her throat and rolled her eyes.
"Whatever Eugene." She said, quickly walking out of the door.
"It's Flynn!" he shouted out behind her, smile still in place. Sighing wistfully, he walked back into Anna's apartment just as his cell began to ring.
"Hello? Yes. Yeah I'm in her apartment now. Don't worry about it, I got everything under control ok?"
AN: DUN…. DUN…. dun. So, soon to come, a little fall out between Anna and Rapunzel. You guys might hate me for what it may or may not lead to. I'm not hinting at anything, but hmm. It looks like Elsa still needs a lot of help and she's hiding it from Anna. And looks like Anna may be slacking in the tough love department because of their relationship. Anyway, hope Oaken doesn't mind arguments breaking out in the middle of his restaurant. And WTF Eugene? Can you be trusted?
Hope you enjoyed and I'll see you next chapter! :)
